No, really. The good folk over at the podcast 'Friendship is Madness' scored an interview with Nicole Oliver, who voices Celestia and Cheerilee. Discussion topics include ponies, voice acting, and a little bit of an unofficial confirmation for a third Season. Unofficially I think we already knew that much, but it's still neat. For once in my life rather than prattling on about something ad nauseum I'm just going to drop the link and let you listen. Enjoy!

They finally did it!! Huzzah!!
ReplyDeleteBtw, phoe, thanks for posting this
ReplyDelete2nd!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteyay more VA interviews
ReplyDeletePhoe, you derped the title
ReplyDeleteIt should be an interview with Princess Trollestia.
Wait; Celestia and Cheerilee? Holy crap. I gotta check this out.
ReplyDelete@Jeremiah DO NOT DEFILE THIS OF ALL POSTS
ReplyDeletethis is why i love you phoe
ReplyDeleteYay I love Princess Celestia!
ReplyDeletethat is no reason at all, i just do
ReplyDeleteSeason Three.
ReplyDeleteBest October EVER.
*Highfives fellow bronies* We did it, guys!
Also: Celestia's mane looks purdy.
INTERVIEWS
ReplyDeleteI think i might have a Brain aneurysm....
Also Phoe!
@Twilight Sparkle
ReplyDeleteNow you can finally know more about her and Cheerilee. Now give Spike a break. He's been working too hard from your last request of getting an audience with Celestia (remeber, you asked him to do that after what happened at the Gala?)
Hey this is awesome and all but... I need my stories bronies ;_; i need em as bad as I needy music.and.that means a lot
ReplyDeleteNow somepony has to draw Celestia as a lilac tree. Celes-tree-a.
ReplyDeleteGod my puns suck...
Wunderbar!
ReplyDeleteOh, now I'm kind of disappointed. I'm sure Ms. Oliver is great, but when I saw the post title, I thought Phoe had taken advantage of her new control over the resident EQD Earth-Equestria portal and broken into Celestia's throne room, demanding an interview.
ReplyDeleteYay for Phoe posts. She should do this again. She made me actually want to read the meetup section on the Nightly Roundup.
ReplyDeletePhoe day is best day.
ReplyDeleteHer voice sounds almost the same as GLADOS, but without the autotune effect.
ReplyDeletePrincess Celestia's voice actor is the new God! <3
Phoe, give the blog back to Seth.
ReplyDeleteWord of Celestia says Rarity is the best pony. Debate's over, guys.
ReplyDeleteOMGOSHOMGOSHOMGOSH!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletePhoe is now best pony.
ReplyDeleteI WOULD BE A LILAC TREEE HEEHEHEHEHEEE
ReplyDeleteO_O
Crazy Celestia is crazy.
Bummer she's got a cold, would have loved some impromptu Cheerilee.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the podcast recorders DIDN'T know she voiced Cheerilee? Very lame on their part. A little investigation would have yielded this info.
Pretty good podcast though.
She said more songs soon, I hope Luna gets a song this saturday.
ReplyDeleteI'm... listening... to... Princess CELESTIA =D
ReplyDeleteRarity is Celestia's favorite pony!!!
ReplyDeleteRarity is indeed best pony! :D
ReplyDeleteThis interview was (so far anyhow) much better than the last. It didn't seem to have many technical hiccups and it was really enjoyable.
Where is this little bit of unofficial season 3 confirmation?
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome
ReplyDeleteNot completely on topic, but...
ReplyDeleteWHY THE HELL IS PHOE IN CHARGE?!?
I swear to Luna, I've had three heart attacks from fangasming in the Drawfriend alone, and now THIS?!?
...
...
She is seriously starting to make reconsider who my favourite Online Pony is...
Sorry JJ...
@tectobot
ReplyDeleteBut that would be oh so boring
Give first interview to fanbase, doesn't choose Equestria Daily.
ReplyDeleteTrollestia.
(just a joke, don't get all mad!)
"We just started recording our third season"
ReplyDelete...
-insert embassingly high pitched fanboy squee-
Holidays call for songs. I'm betting on a nightmare night one.

ReplyDeleteShe has a beautiful voice <3
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the hosts interrupted her like the last interview with an animator. Can you imagine interrupting Princess Celestia? Oh boy. To the Moon. :o
ReplyDeleteInB4 (username) Celestia comments xP
ReplyDeleteThe biggest revelation from this interview is that we will, at some point, know what Equestria was like before Celestia and Luna found the Elements of Harmony in the distant past and stoned Discord.
ReplyDeleteRarity is best Pony. Word of Celestia.
Celestia would send her kids to the moon.
Congratulations Friendship is Madness staff. This podcast is much better than the other one that was posted here a while ago thanks to little to no interruptions this time.
ReplyDeleteReally, good job listening to feedback :)
"Learn how to share"
ReplyDeleteI think we have our next episode.
@Forderz
ReplyDeleteI remember being turned to stone... What loads of fun it was...
So, Celestia loves marshmallows.
ReplyDelete"I'm an aspiring voice actor"
ReplyDeleteEVERYONE ON THE INTERNET IS AN ASPIRING VOICE ACTOR (including myself)
Oh god yes.
ReplyDeleteCelestia in a musical number? It's possible!
ReplyDeleteSo hey, since no one else seemed to notice this, about 33 minutes in there's something worth listening to.
ReplyDeleteYou know, for the fans who were either not expecting/desperately hoping for any implication of actual 'backstory' coming to the show.
It's nothing major, but it's still worth noting for those who had no expectations whatsoever/lots of hope for the future of the show.
After hearing it all:
ReplyDelete1) Season 2 will possibly show what happened in Equestria before Celestia came to end Discord's reign.
2) She enjoyed voicing a Farseer in Warhammer 40k: Dark Crusade *Squee*
@OhYouFoal
ReplyDeleteI agree. The interviewers should be more professional when conducting their interviews.
I CAME RAINBOWS.
ReplyDeleteI've got celestia talking in my head while listening to this.
ReplyDeleteThis was so much better than the last one, sounded like they had someone there pretty much designated to reigning them in when they got out of hand, which helped oh so much.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, I absolutely loved having some confirmation of lots of new songs coming up, a third season, and upcoming backstory of Equestria. Those were the main points I found myself latching onto. Especially the backstory. That... Is interesting, I can't wait to see what it's like.
Oh, and from the sounds of things, we as the Brony community can say we have the official Celestia seal of approval. A grand day for us all!
Wow, this is awesome. Great interview!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah. These are the guys that talked over their guest in that last important interview.
ReplyDeleteIs this any better? I know they had their own problems then but I still really struggled listening to it after a while, so I'd like to know what I'm in for...
Personally I thought the interview was way to casual. I mean everyone was respectful but it just seemed too helter-skelter and sorta unprepared.
ReplyDeleteBut Nicole Oliver was such a great sport and patient. She really is Princess Celestia.
@brilliantspecter
ReplyDeleteThey did a better job, eh?
Thanks. I was cautious about "Friendship is Madness" since that last major interview.
I'll give it a listen, then...
@Bombedrumbum yeah I guess your right. I'll give him a break after he's done triple checking my todo list. Besides Owlicious hasn't done much recently...
ReplyDeleteSo who else lost their shit in joyful merriment when she said her favorite pony was Rarity?
ReplyDeleteA RarityxCelestia Shipping fanfic must be created in her honor!
ReplyDeleteActually, I don't think that ship has been done yet, but I'm not entirely sure.
@Incorporatedstates
ReplyDeleteI know I did. I also got a thrill when I found out she was on psych. That's one of my favorite shows!
Hey, bronies. Hawk here.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your kind words and encouragement. The entire cast feels that this is one of our best episodes, and we DID take all the advice and constructive criticism from our last interview to make this one the best it could be.
In the future, you poniess can always look to us for crazy comedy, or well-made interviews like this. We do our best to make sure we entertain all of you, and bring you the best podcast we possibly can.
Thank you all for listening!
- Hawk Johenson, host of Friendship is MADNESS
@dublioCelestia/Rarity might possibly have been done. I mean, I've seen Celestia/Scootaloo.
ReplyDeleteMy question is why someone else has a credit for Cheerilie (Emily Barlow) both on the show credits and IMDB...
ReplyDelete@Flutterfan
ReplyDeleteThey aren't professionals and considering the logistics involved they executed a fantastic interview. Guess you can't please everypony.
I just want to congratulate you guys on this FANTASTIC interview! You guys really seemed to take your criticism and improved yourselves by leaps and bounds. It was organized, you controlled your inner fanboy/girl, you kept the airwaves clear so that your interviewee could speak, and everything was as clear and understandable as technology would allow. This was a complete 180º from interview with Erica Pitt. I'm really happy to know that the people who are interacting with the shows staff are doing a good job representing the fandom. You all deserve a pat on the back and a fancy dinner for your excellent job. I'm really looking forward to your next interview.
This made for a great ride home from school today.
ReplyDeleteNice handling of this interview, guys. I listened to a few of your podcasts and things seem to be improving well. Your interview with CR! a few episodes back was fun and this one really allowed you guys to hit your stride.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the crew gets more great interviews for future episodes.
Yeah... like someone mentioned above... everyone and their dogs are "aspiring voice actors". lol I've done a few small bit parts here and there and it took -years- to even work up to that. I don't want to sound like a prick, but one does not simply walk into voice acting. ;)
ReplyDeleteShe said my last name!! *Squee*
ReplyDelete@Hawk Johenson
ReplyDeleteHey, Hawk.
I don't know if you're getting this, but I'm going to say it anyway.
Good job on this episode. Glad to see you improved from the Erica Pitt one. I was such a harsh critic on that episode I started to wish Bronyville got all the crew and cast interviews, but I'm very impressed with your turnaround and hope you keep it up!
I'm not through the interview completely yet, but I haven't heard you talking over your guest (and if you have, it was so subtle I didn't notice it).
So, good job on fixing the major problems that prevented me from listening to your podcast altogether! :)

ReplyDeleteWow... that made me feel old. Seriously, the young 'uns these days don't know *Cheers*?!
ReplyDeleteDammit. You all need to stay off my lawn.

ReplyDeleteExcellent interview guys! This was much more refreshing than the last go at it. It was so much more organised, and enjoyable for all involved, including the listener.
ReplyDeleteI can tell that they most certainly reacted to the outcry of the last interview and organized themselves much better. I still think there were too many interviewers, but the way it was done, with making sure no one was talking over each other, or between themselves, allowed them to pull it off well.
Great job guys! I lost alot of faith after the last one, but after this interview, I know you can create an enjoyable experience for the person being interviewed.
Bravo, looking forward to more!
Also, equestria back-story? YES
YAY i loved htis. Try to get Luna next :D
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm just spoiled by the bang-up job Phoe, Seth and Cereal always do on for the interviews on EqD, but this just seemed a little unfulfilling.
ReplyDeleteNot that it wasn't good, but they were minus a few points for the interviewers not knowing Nicole Oliver also voiced Cheerilee as well as Celestia. I would have loved to hear her thoughts on a comparison of the two characters given both of their roles as caring teachers (Cheerilee being to the CMC and her other students what Celestia is to Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6).
There were also a few too many people asking questions and causing it to meander a bit, with one of those questions being very much uncalled for; that is, putting her on the spot by asking the poor woman to speculate on Equestrian history/lore. That guy was like the fanboy you try to keep away from the talent so as not to alienate them from ever doing another interview again.
Then there was also that missed opportunity to answer some of her questions, which they should have jumped on much earlier in the interview. It would have provided a wonderful chance to build on the sense of friendly interaction between the fans and the creative talent behind the show.
It wasn't terrible, and from what everyone has said it was better than the previous interview work this group has done, so that's always a good sign of improvement. I really am looking forward to their next interview, I just hope they continue to keep it more about the person being interviewed; we can hear a couple of bronies talking amongst themselves any day, but it's a treat to get to hear from the people who really keep the show going.
Great interview guys! You handled things well for the most part, and it made this a great listen.
ReplyDeleteBronies, prepare for Celestia as Lilac tree fanart and Celestia/Rarity stories.
ReplyDeleteThough I have to wonder, there's very little with the mane 6/Celestia besides Twilight.
she sounds like trollestia without changing a bit of her accent/voice D:
ReplyDeleteshes a troll
She had questions... :(
ReplyDeleteBtw, I always get this feeling that they become weirded out in the end. Or maybe it was just this interview in particular...
ReplyDeleteLet's hope not.
@Infusions
ReplyDeleteYes, she did. I still have her contact information, and I promised to answer her questions whenever she had time to chat. I intend to keep that promise. :)
I try my best most of the time to not be a "hater" but man do I wish the Bronyville guys landed this interview. While B-ville isn't perfect, at least an air of professionalism is maintained. These guys are like-
ReplyDelete*Interviewing movie star and VA from fav show? lets talk about that car alarm we hear in the background...*
It's nice to hear about season 3 straight from the horse's mouth.
ReplyDeleteGuys, guys, please contain your fangasms. It makes me fangasm too. I almost can't go on listening to this.
ReplyDeleteShe can send her questions to EqD, they’ll publish them here, and we can all answer. We’d totally inundate her in answers. ^^
ReplyDeleteSomepony will probably have to aggregate them a little, compile and epitomize… We can’t ask the poor alicorn to read < 5000 comments.
Yay ;D
ReplyDeleteI totally LOL'ed when "Ciff, from Cheers" met with blank confusion and "the pig from Toy Story" got instant recognition.
ReplyDeleteThis was a much better interview than the previous one. ^_^ There's still room for improvement in preparing the questions, but despite the conference-call nature of the podcast, a good job was done in letting Nicole Oliver speak. She's a big fan of old Warner Bros and Flintstones cartoons, it would have been nice to know if she ever got to meet and work with the greats like June Foray and Mel Blanc. Also, what was the key point in her career that led to her being called to audition for a role as a VA on My Little Pony instead of her calling on them. Also, she hints that the VA's were not only hand-picked, but they are top-notch. So, maybe she could be asked if this is one of the higher quality/budgeted VA environments she's worked in and what is it like to audition for and work in a low budget VA environment.
So, good job, and if there was somehow you could clean up the Skype audio, that would be awesome.
chelistia is ok but luna is awsome and se is my harts disier
