As active and engaged fans of a show, it sometimes behooves us (teehee, I'm so witty!) to pretend we're sophisticated businessponies and comb through the parent company's financial information. They make this stuff public for a reason, and it's kind of fun to speculate! Nightmare Moon and her other corporate overlords recently went over their earnings, losses, and projections, and a certain property beginning with 'My' and ending with 'Little Pony' featured somewhat prominently in the proceedings.
I'll link the transcript at the end of this (thank you, seekingalpha.com!), but there's a lot of business talk that's either boring or not pony relevant, so here are some cliffs notes:
- Sales of My Little Pony toys are up. This is still considered progress in their Girls' line of toys.
- They are spending more money than before on The Hub.
- Ratings on The Hub are at their highest ever, with Friendship is Magic as a headliner. The channel is now able to directly compete for ratings with more established Saturday programming.
- There are going to be new pony toys in 2012
- This seems silly to point out, but reading this transcript in its entirety really emphasized how shrewd these people are. They have a long term plan for their ponies and it is making them a ton of new money.
- I dare you not to laugh every time one of them unironically brings up the Battleship movie.
They never directly referenced the secondary markets in the Q&A, but with their channel doing so well and merchandise flying off the shelves, we can expect them to put a lot more time and attention into ponies in the future. See? I told you this stuff was fun.

Statistics!
VastaKustutaWell, this is interesting
VastaKustutaSee? Ponies make EVERYTHING better. About time they realized that.
VastaKustutaGlad to see ponies are doing alright.
VastaKustutaStats make everything better.
VastaKustuta*rolls eyes*
They do bring up the movie battleship unicornily quite a bit.....
VastaKustutaAnd yes, phoe ig is fun!!!
New pony toys?!?! SQUEE!!!!
Maybe they'll make show accurate toys so I can justify getting one.
VastaKustuta*it
VastaKustutaWell, I guess this is good news. In other news, best day on Equestria Daily ever. Even if I did wake up to have Lyra grinning at me. *shudder*
VastaKustutaThey ALL start with "thank you (name), and good morning."
VastaKustutaNew toys?!? As in, show accurate toys?!?
VastaKustutaPeople, I have been to the mountaintop and I have seen the light. And it is glorious.
*Willfully jumping to conclusions*
Luna is not impressed.
VastaKustutaalso, #11
Woohoo! new pony toys that I wont buy in 2012! Which might mean that they'll push FiM at least through that year, right? Of course, we kind of already knew that.
VastaKustutaAlso, reading the actual transcript is not worth it, unless you're into that kind of thing (economics).
Please tell me these "new toys" include new plushies.
VastaKustuta"There are going to be new pony toys in 2012"
VastaKustutaMore waiting? Curses Hasbro....
Yay for research!
VastaKustutaAs a business mayor this greatly interest me. Time to put my useless career to work!
VastaKustutaThis just ended my only nightmare that MLP FIM might be a 2-3 year thing and be done with!
VastaKustutaI will indefinetly sleep well tonight :D
It was an interesting read, and quite good to see them touting the success of the ponies repeatedly. Also good to see that the show is doing well in other markets around the world.
VastaKustutaI can only hope "new pony toys" mean toys that are actually quality.
VastaKustutaI would be all over that.
In other news, ponies doing well is good news.
Inb4 and after "Show accurate toys, etc etc." lol
VastaKustutathe closest thing to show accurate i've seen so far is the Fluttershy toy at Wal-Mart.
VastaKustutaand that's pushing the definition of accurate. <_<
....confound these ponies, they drive me to economics.
VastaKustuta@Twilight Sparkle
VastaKustutaDOES THE FOURTH WALL EVEN EXIST WITH YOU?!?!
Why do I have this image of Luna holed up in a small room deep within the bowels of Hasbro diligently hard at work with an abacus?
VastaKustutaNow I demand an MLP/Battleship crossover!
Show accurate toys, etc etc.
VastaKustuta@Octavia Oh darn, am I really that predictable?! :P
VastaKustutaRemember though, Hasbro isn't some luxury toy company. They're simply a children's toy company. So don't expect these amazingly well-made figures and such. lol
VastaKustutaFaith in the world = Restored. Well, a little bit.
VastaKustuta@Jelfes
VastaKustutaYou and every other Brony clamoring about that same thing. lol
@Jelfes
VastaKustutaCLEVER, JELFES
Lol...
Battleship movie. Lolz. I keep forgetting that that's real and not just a Onion/Mad Magazine parody.
VastaKustuta@Octavia what about me?
VastaKustuta@Octavia
VastaKustutaHaha, nope, it doesn't really matter to me, as of yet; I still don't own any ponies and have a feeling it'll be a while till I do, as well. *sobs* I WANT PONIES!
@Jelfes then watch the show
VastaKustutaKeep in mind that Hasbro and Mattel are like the USSR and the USA at the height of the Cold War. Mattel has Barbie (like how the U.S dominated naval capability!) and Hasbro can't possibly hope to fuck with Barbie, so they have to invent other ways to tap the girl toy market. (like how the USSR invested heavily in anti-naval supersonic cruise missiles!)
VastaKustutaI went to buy Twilight the other day, from Wal-Mart.
VastaKustutaI got scared away by it, cause it looked almost nothing like Twilight.
So...am I the only who thinks of Spike Spiegel when they look at that picture of Nightmare Moon?
VastaKustutaOh and there's a thing about Hasbro's earning...hoozah. :|
So you say new toys are coming, eh? GIVE ME SHOW ACCURATE TOYS, HASBRO! >:O
I'm glad FiM is doing well, but...I can't help but feel a little...revolted? disgusted? I'm not sure, but I don't like the vocabulary of big business. It just sounds plain evil.
VastaKustuta@Bombedrumbum Got me there... I want ponies I can hold!!!
VastaKustuta"...we continue to actively develop a number of additional Hasbro films with great writers and partners, including MICRONAUTS, OUIJA, CANDY LAND, Risk, STRETCH ARMSTRONG, CLUE and MONOPOLY."
VastaKustutaಠ_ಠ
@Ergo Cogito That's because it is, but ponies is the best damper of evil that you can find.
VastaKustutaEven more reason to discuss ponies in Business Club!
VastaKustutaWith these statistics, an MLP:FiM MOVIE is inevitable.
VastaKustutaIm excited about the battle ship movie! This is the movie that Michel Bay should of got! (did he?) Anyway it seems like it would be right up his ally!
VastaKustuta@Jelfes what about the holy bible?
VastaKustutaTo be fair, Battleship has an interesting narrative concept. Toys can have a story applied to them with not too much effort. A board game requires a focusing of premise and should evoke a person's memories related to said game whilst simultaneously distancing itself from the normal board game interactions that would undermine the story you attempt to create. That being said, "You sunk my battleship!" is a must-have line.
VastaKustuta"So whether it's in the NERF business, whether it's in the LITTLEST PETSHOP business, the MY LITTLE PONY business, our KRE-O brand, which is brand-new and FURREAL FRIENDS, across the board, we have some major new initiatives and innovation,...."
VastaKustutaMajor initiatives and innovation with My Little Pony? Could it be? Show accurate and/or adult-geared toys?
@Synyk
VastaKustuta" an MLP:FiM MOVIE is inevitable."
Of course it is; their turning Battleship into a movie.
Battleship...
Board game -> Movie = ???
Yea... Corporate Hasbro would have to be stone crazy not to...
Potential for something that the bronies will find awesome: not a lot else though.
VastaKustutaCould be great, but no guarantees.. but then again, given the kind of impact bronies have had so far... it probably might as well be a guarantee that there will be something for us. They're into us, MLP is become a power player in their continued success, and new MLP toys in the next year.
Personally, I prefer to take a more jaded view, but this info has some potential. At the very least, there will be expanded focus on MLP, which is pretty good by its own right.
Also, if the new Battleship movie is anything like Jumanji (essentially the same thing), Then it may help diminish some of the skepticism I have towards it.
VastaKustutaAaaaand still no hub or mlp in australia :(
VastaKustutaI expect so much from that Battleship movie. I'm one step closer to my lifelong dream of a feature-length adaptation of Jenga.
VastaKustutaStat-tastic!
VastaKustutaPony toys that look like the shows ponies? Hmm what I could do with them....
VastaKustuta*sits in breakro at work with the mane 6*
Oh no. Nightmare moon has returned!
Fear not, citizens of ponyville for I, Pinkie Pie have arrived to save the day!
*makes trotting noises and has epic fights for the freedom of the breakroom*
....hmm. that sounds like a fine plan!
@Bombedrumbum
VastaKustutaEven ponies couldn't make the Bible less evil.
(KIDDING)
@mycutiemarkisagun
VastaKustutaOf course, they've stumbled upon a way to get "girls toys" to sell to the most valuable demographic in the world, males 18-40.
So they've gone beyond developing SSGNs, supersonic naval bombers, and badass anti-ship missiles to take down the Barbie carrier battle groups. The brony phenomenon is like they've literally developed the Red October and can now start launching without-warning nuclear first strikes at Mattel.
...And wow, I can't believe we're using Cold War analogies to talk about rival companies attempting to sell toys to girls.
Autor on selle kommentaari eemaldanud.
VastaKustutaI like the fact that MY LITTLE PONY is always typed with all caps >:3
VastaKustutaAlso the Lightbulb oven still grows strong it seems
@Bombedrumbum Well, not quite the same situation; Christianity isn't an evil corporation looking for profit, but I said ponies best quells it because they're a really good thing coming out of a not so pure in intention organization. That's not to say Hasbro doesn't care about the fans and the show, because they quite clearly do.
VastaKustutashow accurate toys would be a mixed blessing.
VastaKustutagood because then almost every brony could have there own MLP toy (or 6...or 50)
bad because there would be a dramatic drop in custom ponies of all kinds for two reasons.
1) less demand over all
2) fear of lawsuits.
also plushies are probably not going to happen till at least 2013. sorry folks.
I'm more then willing to bet 1 Million Bits that if The Hub was as available as say Cartoon Network or MTV or one of those channels, their ratings on not just MLP, but all shows would at the least multiply by 1.5
VastaKustutaWhile MLP is obviously the most favorite bestest ever, i LOVE Hubs "GI Joe Renegades" and I don't mind reruns of classics like Fragle Rock and original Transformers :D I just can't afford the package my cable company would charge for adding hub (an extra 18 USD a month on top of an already 167 USD bill ;>.>)
Wait, did I just read that they're making a Candy Land movie, and that J.J. Abrams is writing the script for a Micronauts movie?
VastaKustutaone_wat.jpg
This was the greatest fanfic I have ever read.
VastaKustuta@ToonNinja Is it wrong that the first thing that popped into my head when I read that was the movie "World Trade Center"?
VastaKustutaAs for if they decide to make a MLP: FIM movie, I hope it'll be based on Past Sins. Why? It's like the Star Wars or Lord of the Rings movies: Anybody at any age can enjoy it.
Business major, so ya know all that actually made sense to me. I read this more cyncally so far as how they are viewing MLP as a property. Transformers is clearly their big money maker at the moment, what with the big budget films driving half billion dollar revenue figures. They don't talk much for actual sales numbers so it's hard to say how much of their empire MLP actually represents at this point. I'm guessing it's comparably small, even if the toy sales are increasing year over year. That actually probably a good thing, since more likely it will keep Hasbro corporate out of the show development bit. The more Hasbro leaves Studio B alone to do their thing the better. I wonder if they have any sort of new media strategy at all or if their whole plan is to just stay out of the way and let bronies rule the internet. That's actually probably a pretty good strategy...
VastaKustutaWhat do you mean "pretend" to be sophisticated businessponies? *dons suit and glasses stolen from a Austrian architect.*
VastaKustutaI love how they keep saying, "Kids" show. Haha silly Hasbro.
VastaKustutaITS OUR SHOW NOW!
"This seems silly to point out, but reading this transcript in its entirety really emphasized how shrewd these people are. They have a long term plan for their ponies and it is making them a ton of new money."
VastaKustutaThis is why they work in the offices with the drab walls and the points of data on a line. Business executives couldn't care less if something stifles a creative vision so long as it's profitable. Their primary focus is to generate as much profit as possible. They see the rampant success of MLP continuing, but the moment that starts falling off the chart and fails to generate more revenue than expenses, it's gone.
That said, I'd love to see how Hasbro's 2011 annual report compares to 2010. New channel, renewed IPs, and pony of course. The accountant in me demands numbers to make relevant statements!
Hopefully the new toys in 2012 will, you know, not suck.
VastaKustutaThat said, I really like how they've handled t-shirts so far. The whole officially licensing fan designs through Welovefine thing was actually pretty clever.
@Ctrl Alicorn Del I know, right?!
VastaKustuta"MY LITTLE PONY is consistently ranked in the top 5 shows airing on a number of networks around the world, including Cartoon Networks' Boomerang channel in the U.K. and on Treehouse in Canada."
VastaKustutaThis sounds very promising for the future of the series.
The interesting thing that I get from this, (maybe just me being cynical) is just how horribly that they are mismanaging every property EXCEPT My Little Pony.
VastaKustutaMaybe it's just me (and i'm sure it is), but I actually really don't care for and do not like how most of those are being treated, in general.
The Battleship trailer seems terribly silly, and looks to be this year's Snakes On A Plane. Although that movie did far less decently than anyone thought it would.
Micheal Bay in charge of Transformers and looking at him as their savior (sorry, but I gotta say I am someone who has so far, strongly disliked all three films) just makes me roll my eyes clear out of my head, and from what i've seen at the New York convention recently, and their plans to turn Candy Land into a faux anime series, and other strange concepts, that seem to be scoffed at in general by the public, it just seems at every turn like they're shoveling through money rather than devoting real common sense to their products in general.
Maybe it's just me looking at it with an extreme-seeming bias, but I am usually very tolerant of a lot of properties and the way they are working out, but it just seems to me like, literally everything they have is a very bad idea, besides MLP, and I think it's the only ONE franchise that they're doing something good with, right now.
However, I also find it disconcerting that at no point, do they even come close to recognizing MLP as having an internet-based, non little girl fanbase, and seem to be banking on Transformers. Which, as a fan of the franchise, Prime and the films are my least favorite adaptations, by far.
Simply put, as I look through this, I just see them patting themselves on the back and complimenting themselves on Micheal Bay's "brilliance" and the high hopes they have for Battleship, despite not having seen one word of the overwhelmingly negative critical reception it's gaining on youtube and everywhere.
Yet, they still remain to shove My Little Pony into the girls division in the back room and really only mention it a few times, when it's currently their major runaway smash hit right now.
They mention maybe some toys in 2012, but I think people are jumping the gun here a bit, in hoping they'll be show-accurate, or even "new" toys. I think what they mean is "continued shipments of the existing ones", with emphasis on letting more stores know they have these (with larger store displays for instance)
Either way, it seems to me that this all reads like a self-deluded, self-congratulatory company party, then a serious self-review of their stock.
In short, here's what I get from the review in a nutshell: "Micheal Bay is a genius, he will make us more money. JJ Abhrams is a genius. He will make us more money. The Battleship movie is genius. It will make up more money. Prime is genius. It's kinda making some money. Our other lines are genius, I guess. My Little Pony is doing good ratings, it's genius, because I guess there's more little girls out there than we thought. Bayblade, is genius because it's still being aired on Cartoon Network. We're geniuses. Sell more things based on our genius properties. We're geniuses."
Not every idea is a good idea, but they seem to think that they can do no wrong.
Yet, I'm not sure I see them understanding who we are and what we're liking and why we're liking it, and what is a good idea and what isn't. I think this review and Hasbro in general seems to operate under the assumption that we're money cows to squeeze gold coins from.
You mean there are grown men buying my little pony stuff and making the show awesome? :3
VastaKustuta*Ahem* As someone who works in a toy dept. I can, perhaps, shed a tiny bit of light on any new MLP toys.
VastaKustutaDuring an item management lookup through the Hasbro inventory in the system, I noticed a few new MLP items that I haven't seen. Namely, it was Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo figures. I saw two versions of Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, if memory serves me correctly. Each having a different price point....lowest one being in the $3-4 range.
So, my guess is that they will be separate figures instead of the one where they are being bundles in the set with Cheerilee. Guess we will see. Cause I know I will get one of each and make little CMC capes for them. lol
"- I dare you not to laugh every time one of them unironically brings up the Battleship mov---
VastaKustutaHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Hehe, oh what was that? oh, don't laugh, sorr---
HAHAHAAHAHHAHAAHAAHA aliens... -pft- HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!! Oh man...
P.S: Essentially, (i forgot to mention) what it boils down to, is that I think their strategy seems to be patting themselves on the back and throwing EVERYTHING on the wall, believing that everything will stick. And sell more toys.
VastaKustutaAnd as one more comment about the Battleship movie, I fear that is the biggest sign of Hasbro having no perception of reality, or at least very little of it.
I recall also reading at one point, that 20th Century Fox also had incredibly high hopes for Dragonball Evolution. They said that they had extreme confidence that it was going to be a massive hit after even viewing a rough cut, and had already inked deals for sequels ahead of time.....
....and then there's how that panned out.
I think Hasbro is in genuine danger of exhibiting that line of thinking.
@NightStarX That was put very well. I agree, they do seem to think that all of their ideas are genius ones, while some of them may be good, they don't do justice to the ones that excel, namely MLP, and I'm not just saying that because of the obvious reasons, but because it has s[read across so much of the internet. We are the best advertisement that Hasbro has right now, we both buy and sell the products, they just aren't taking advantage of that, rather, they're trying to revive shows ad ideas that aren't working, it's just like what they did with MLP, the only difference, they didn't have a/the Lauren Faust produce each of the show revamps.
VastaKustutaI want to buy stock in Hasbro now. I predict that someone will eventually notice the custom pony and plushy market and will move to start producing show accurate toys which will see skyrocketing sales. Of course they are also about to release a terrible Battleship movie...and then there's the fact that I need money to actually buy stocks and need to learn how to go about doing that effectively.
VastaKustutaIs there any way to invest lower on the chain? Like just on the pony side of things like in The HUB?
VastaKustuta"Importantly, early results indicate that our shows are having a positive impact on point-of-sale trends. MY LITTLE PONY has returned to growth in 2011, with point-of-sale up in the U.S. and Canada, as well as recently in the U.K., following the first airing of programming. ... These are very encouraging signs, which speak to the importance of television to drive our brands in the international markets."
VastaKustutaReading this, I think they've completely missed the importance that the internet as a marketing medium has played in the success of the brand. At little more awareness, Hasbro?
I want to see the ratings on the show. Let's see those statistics.
VastaKustutaIn before they turn the Hub into a 24 hour Pony channel... Kinda like USA is for "Law and Order". (SVU fan here.)
VastaKustutaBut I REALLY hope this doesn't go to their heads. I hope they keep the basics of the show intact and don't start going over the top putting fanservice like ponies going insane in every episode. Gotta keep it subtle and keep us looking for the little background stuff. (Dr. Whoves' hourglass, Twinight's number 42 in Running of the Leaves, etc.)
@Stormcaller
VastaKustutaGood going there, Wash...
"And we shall call it... 'This Land.'"
>"More pony toys in 2012"
VastaKustutaLet's just hope that this include a white Celestia, instead of a pink one.
Thinking about the business side of things reminds me of the whole... you know... children making dollar(note the lack of s) per hour making these toys. It's kind of disconcerting...
VastaKustutaIt reminds me of analogous IBM meetings, just much less interconnected. (Seriously, the IBM stuff is crazy; whomever they put on the podium has to not just know about, but COMPREHEND all their high-tech projects!)
VastaKustutaThe storyboard writers, animators, and toy-making people really should have that sort of communication... but as of yet... no luck.
@dexam
VastaKustutaI think what they're saying is the fact that any of us (and children too) are interested in ponies in the first place is because a good tv show exists. G3 didn't have television shows as far as i know, just the random dvds.
@NightStarX
VastaKustuta> 'In short, here's what I get from the review in a nutshell: "Micheal Bay is a genius, he will make us more money. JJ Abhrams is a genius. He will make us more money. That's what they're trying to do; they need to pick up some investors from the stock market. and they're doing a good job of it by saying they grew 9% in a shrinking economy.
Unfortunately, it's not the case that products have to be good for people to buy them. Just look at cigarettes: they're lethal, but they still sell.
Set aside your ethics for a moment: from a practical standpoint, they are doing very well selling bad (by general consensus) transformers movies. Heck, this article almost convinced me to invest.
...I do wish they had mentioned their internet following as a potential resource though... that would have been so cool.
alright some good news indeed. Its also good to hear about high ratings.
VastaKustutaBattle ship movie trailer: Admiral"Fire all weapons!" random guy said" Which ones sir?" Admiral"...I don't want to live on this planet anymore"
VastaKustuta"long term" (Scootaloo-voice) I am liiiiiking this ideaaa. That means season 3 is as good as granted.
VastaKustutaOh, good, ... Phantom Menace in 3D ... that's what everypony is waiting for *yawn*
They are making a Candyland movie? And I thought the Battleship movie idea was their strangest yet.
VastaKustutaAM I the only one who read the entire thing.....but while doing it...read it in a cool ass evil robotic voice?
VastaKustutaLOL Battleship the movie? (OMFG YOU SUNK MY BATTLESHIP @(#&*@#&*#! - Seriosuly? lol)
Nice to see the show doing well.....I guess I need to go throw my money at some stuff ASAP and add to the stats ;p
Has anyone ever contacted Hasbro and told them what they should make? I wonder what would happen if all of us did that. Maybe they'll listen to us and actually produce show accurate toys for once lol
VastaKustuta@Bombedrumbum I'm confused, you mean as a damper of evil or an evil itself?
VastaKustuta@Jelfes No, Christianity is not an evil corporation looking for profit(?)(Probable)
VastaKustutaChristianity is an evil corporation looking to get as many fans and followers in as short time as possible and it ain't afraid of using whatever means necessary to obtain their goal.
"Our partners also have a tremendous slate of films for 2012, including in February, STAR WARS: EPISODE I in 3D from Lucasfilm"
VastaKustutaOH GAWD WHYYYYY
Wait, the Battleship movie is a real thing? I thought that was just an internet joke!
VastaKustutaWell, I guess I should try to keep an open mind, after all the Clue movie was good . . . but I can't help but bite back a snort of laughter.
I read that article, and it only further enhanced my stereotype of these suits.
VastaKustutaStill, if they think they're doing themselves a favor by giving is things that we wholeheartedly enjoy, then by all means avaricious turds. Take my money :3
Oh God... they're making MORE movies based on board games... Battleship is only the beginning...
VastaKustutaThey've got plans for Monopoly, Risk, AND EVEN CANDYLAND!!!
O_O
...I'm quite scared right now...
...well, at least they're making another Clue movie. I SWEAR, IF THEY DON'T KEEP THE COMIDEC TONE OF THE ORIGINAL MOVIE, I AM GOING TO BE PISSED, BECAUSE THE FIRST CLUE MOVIE WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE FILMS OF ALL TIME AS A CHILD AND STILL IS TO THIS DAY.
Oh, and more pony. I guess that's good.
I just hope they start doing crossovers with their other merchandise... I WANT TO PLAY CLUE WITH PONIES, GODDAMMIT, EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE MURDER OUT OF THE PICTURE! D:<
If those new toys include a white Celestia and a fluttershy plush doll, I will never complain about Hasbro's toys again.
VastaKustuta@Twilight Recent urbandead griffiti "Someone spraypainted a pink Celestia doll white and nailed it onto a wall."
VastaKustutaGood to hear, I'll just add my vote that I hope new toys means "Show Accurate" toys.
VastaKustutaBattleship...
*snicker*
"I'm pleased to report that currently we have closed deals which will enable Hasbro Studios shows to air in substantially all of our markets and every major sales territory, including across Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. This represents the airing of our TV shows in 142 countries globally. These include a majority of the primary and secondary international markets, including Canada, U.K., Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Scandinavia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, China, Mexico and Brazil. 3/4 of the major markets have signed up for 3 or more of our first-season shows, including MY LITTLE PONY, Transformers: Prime, Pound Puppies and The Adventures of Chuck and Friends."
VastaKustutaI am interpreting this as the show will be getting better timeslots in the UK soon. This makes me happy.
Oh gosh, I'm still laughing at the idea of a Candy Land Movie. THE HORROR! THE HORROR!
VastaKustuta@NotAGoodUsername360
VastaKustuta"WHO ATE ALL THE CUPCAKES?!"
"I have deduced that the Cupcake-muncher committed the deed in the Dining Room, and used a Banjo to do it."
"Then, who does that leave as suspects?"
"Only one." *Dramatic Finger Point* "Pinkie Pie!"
I'm not bothered about show accurate toys, to be honest. I appreciate the fact we have MLP: FiM toys at all and I personally love some of the brushable ones. (Fluttershy looks amazing for a start.)
VastaKustutaAny kind of new MLP toy I shall welcome with open arms!
The potential new toys are great and all if they're show-accurate.
VastaKustutaBut that stuff is just gravy on top of the real plus here:
MLP:FiM is the top rated show on The Hub and is competing hard with the other established studios for ratings. This is fantastic news for the show that all of us bronies owe our fandom to.
Successful tv series = more seasons for us all to enjoy (and who knows, maybe a FiM movie? Can always hope!).
I'd kind of rather them not notice us too much, lest they start messing with the show in the hopes of expanding its adult male audience. If Brony money makes them think that that many more little girls are buying pony stuff, let them think that. More incentive for them to leave the show alone. I think we can all agree that preserving the show is more important than new toys.
VastaKustutaPresumably a movie would be released in the summer. If they are going to do a movie before 2013, work on it would probably need to begin soon if it is not underway already. I wonder how the theatrical experience will be, with half the audience being little girls and half grown men.
