This time around, we have some Rainbow Dash with various lantern rings. I'm also throwing a bonus colored version of that really popular "grown up spike" comic down there too. It's worth double posting for color!
There is a video version too for those that don't feel like scrolling.
Dammit... you keep reposting versions of that sad comic! It's like having to watch "Jurassic Bark" over and over again. Some of us need to be productive and can't curl up in an emotional ball for the day!
is twi immortal or something? I'm pretty sure she will die LONG before spike hits adult-hood, really the comic should be about HIM coping with the fact he's gonna outlive what is essential his mother
I dont think Spike outgrowing the Library will be a problem. Dragons are confirmed to have ridiculously long lives. Twilight wont live to see Spike grow that much.
Heh, that first comic... nice. "And you've already put the ring on haven't you?" "Maybe..." lol
And awww, that second comic is so darn sad! It just breaks my heart when Twilight starts to cry. :'( But yay for a colored version and a video version.
Count me among those who think the black & white sketch version of the second comic works better; no slight meant to the colorist, who did a good job, there's just something more direct about the original version. And I'm sorta with SuperGiantRobot; while I find the comic a little sad, mostly I'm proud of the way Twilight's handling it.
The first comic is an amusing start to a promising premise; I look forward to seeing what's next...
Damn it Seth, that second comic AGAIN. I'm STILL in the process of trying to recover from the emotional devastation wrought by "My Little Dashie" and now you go and remind me of that comic again. I will have no more tears left to shed at this rate. ;_;
@Pyrobug *Raging Nerd Moment* The Oan power rings have been shown as being able to transform themselves so their wearer can use them even if they don't have fingers.
And if worst comes to worst, Dashie can just sport one as a piercing in her ear or nostril or the like.
That comic... I am a security guard. I'm 6'3". I weigh 230 lbs. I am essentially a carnivore. I have a scarbover one eye from being hit with a broken bottle at work. I've been hit with sticks, rocks and other sundry bludgeons on the job. Several weeks ago, someone tried to stab me at work. I broke his face with my kneecap. In other words, I am manly as fuck.
HOW IN THE NAME OF LUNA DID YOU MAKE ME CRY WITH A COMIC ABOUT PASTEL COLOURED PONIES?!
for the people who hate the ending of the first comic imagine this after the pic where spike left: after one week: spike comes flying back to ponyville twilight asks what he's doing here en he says: "you thought i was gone forever? that's stupid im inviting you guys to the house/cave warming party."
i mean he's a dragon who can easily fly all over equestria, so i think he would visit sometime don't you?
@mephitislotor Who? *looks up* ohai thar! Didn't notice ya thar! Y'all coulda bit me britches from up thar!! Anyway ya the comic is sad. It's bittersweet. It tastes like the factors god put in life to make you and me a better, stronger, wiser individuals! That's why when I look at this comic, I feel the pain, and also the love and compassion coming from two directions!

What on Equestria...
ReplyDeletethat sad comic again :<
ReplyDeleteFirst one was funny.
ReplyDeleteI still get sad over the second one, but I think it was more dramatic in pencil. Or maybe it's just because I saw that one first.
Manly tears.
ReplyDeleteHeart wrenched again. >.<
ReplyDeleteThe sketches were way better the first time around.
The best part of MLP being a cartoon thought for little girls is that I know I don't have to worry about such things happening
ReplyDeletethat video was great, but the music ruined it for me.
ReplyDeleteThe other video version, with the black and white pictures, hits harder in my opinion. The music's more... emotive.
ReplyDeleteI promised myself I wouldn't cry...I wouldn't cry..
ReplyDeleteBaaahhhhhhhaaaaaaaaa!!!
Ponies y u make me cry?!
#2 My God, my heart....it was not ready. Manly tears ;_;
ReplyDeleteSeth you jackass.
ReplyDeleteI was happy until you brought up this comic again -_-
I admit. Last one teared me up.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Sad Twilight makes me sad!
ReplyDeleteStill don't find the second one sad; he was always going to have to leave at some point.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I'm more PROUD of Twilight than sad for her; the depth at which her vision upset her says a lot for how close she really is to Spike.
She'll make a good mother someday.
Cyriosity strikes!
ReplyDeleteThe last comic..... Too sad to be true ;_;
ReplyDelete1. Spectrum Latern will have an emotional breakdown before saving the day.
ReplyDelete2. Twilight is a parent to him, she is his mother in all but blood.
2-1. The bigger problem is why she hasn't aged a day throughout the comic. She's going to live forever and will possibly outlive her son.
Agreed that the pencil version had a lot more impact.

ReplyDelete1. Never trust Dash infront of rings
ReplyDelete2. It's sad. But I think the problem with it is Twilight will die eventually. Leaving Spike to deal with Twilight's child.
1. Haha silly RD.
ReplyDelete2. ;_;
;_________;

Oh my gosh! They posted my comic! This calls for a sexy party!
ReplyDeleteis twi immortal or something? I'm pretty sure she will die LONG before spike hits adult-hood, really the comic should be about HIM coping with the fact he's gonna outlive what is essential his mother
ReplyDelete@D. Shadows
ReplyDeleteShe may be Spike's surrogate mother, but she acts more like his big sister.
I dont think Spike outgrowing the Library will be a problem. Dragons are confirmed to have ridiculously long lives. Twilight wont live to see Spike grow that much.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD, DERPY'S EYES ARE STRAIGHT IN THE 50 MILLION BANNER! WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?!!
ReplyDeletethat sad comic is still sad. :(
ReplyDeleteI firmly believe that Dash is a white lantern now!
ReplyDeleteI've read the sad one 20 times and it STILL chokes me up reading through it. I'm counting my blessings.
ReplyDeleteI really hate seeing Twilight cry
ReplyDeleteI feel like I've said this at some point already, but that second comic is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHeh, that first comic... nice. "And you've already put the ring on haven't you?" "Maybe..." lol
ReplyDeleteAnd awww, that second comic is so darn sad! It just breaks my heart when Twilight starts to cry. :'( But yay for a colored version and a video version.
Just because dragons live for thousands of years doesn't mean it takes that long for them to grow up.
ReplyDeleteInsta-tear when i got to the end of Grown up Spike :'(
ReplyDeleteBreaks me when ponies cry..
You know, the second comic is one of the very few things in this fandom that made my eyes well up.
ReplyDeleteCount me among those who think the black & white sketch version of the second comic works better; no slight meant to the colorist, who did a good job, there's just something more direct about the original version. first one was too funny, second so very sad...curse these conflicting emotions!!! X.x
ReplyDeleteDamn it Seth, that second comic AGAIN. I'm STILL in the process of trying to recover from the emotional devastation wrought by "My Little Dashie" and now you go and remind me of that comic again. I will have no more tears left to shed at this rate. ;_;
ReplyDeleteeverytime i read that #2nd comic, i always cry ._.
ReplyDeleteSAD STUFF MAKES MY EYES RAIN.
ReplyDeletei was just thinking what privat-enemy said
ReplyDeletenow going to trink something to refill my eyes
...but how would a pony wear a ring?
ReplyDeleteMY HEART.
ReplyDeleteIT FEELS.
IT FEELS SADNESS! AAAAAHHH! Confound this Spike growing up comic. :'(
I started tearing up as I read the Spike comic.
ReplyDeleteAlso, this is my first comment on here. :D
@Rainbow Dash With those power rings, curiosity won't just strike, it'll come down on your rainbow-maned head like a dinosaur-killing meteor.
ReplyDeleteThough the thought of Rainbow Dash as the White Lantern does sound like it'd be one cool idea.
@Pyrobug *Raging Nerd Moment* The Oan power rings have been shown as being able to transform themselves so their wearer can use them even if they don't have fingers.
ReplyDeleteAnd if worst comes to worst, Dashie can just sport one as a piercing in her ear or nostril or the like.
All of my tears ;~;
ReplyDeleteI think that's a violet ring....meaning Star Sapphire, a.k.a. the Love Lantern. For the one everypony is shipped with....clever girl.

ReplyDeleteMy eyes, I can sense tears. I feel sorry for Twilight. I hope in my heart, that everything will turn out alright.
ReplyDelete@kriss1989 If you look for the artist's account on DA you'll see that he drew Dashie as a member of every Lantern Corps.
ReplyDeleteThat comic...
ReplyDeleteI am a security guard. I'm 6'3". I weigh 230 lbs. I am essentially a carnivore. I have a scarbover one eye from being hit with a broken bottle at work. HOW IN THE NAME OF LUNA DID YOU MAKE ME CRY WITH A COMIC ABOUT PASTEL COLOURED PONIES?!
*scar over goddamn you autocorrect
ReplyDeleteDear god, that second one.
ReplyDeleteCue the manly tears.
So many manly tears right now. So many.
ReplyDeleteStill don't find the second one sad. All I feel is pride for Twilight.
ReplyDeletedamn, the second comic really got to me, you gotta make every precious moment last
ReplyDeleteSpike is the best pony.
ReplyDelete@ArdashirYes she was drawn as such, but the ring in question on the table is Violet.
ReplyDeleteI am a bold, emotionless man who feels bad for nothing no matter what.
ReplyDeleteAnd then I read the second comic. And I almost shed a tear.
I cried manly tears over the second one. Even if it is technically fanon it has to logically happen, so thinking about it sucks. :(
ReplyDeleteThird panel Spike looks badass.
ReplyDelete*read rest of comic*
Spiiiike nooooooo *trails off as heart stops working*
Am I the only one here who feels comforted and happy for twilight at the end of #2? :}
ReplyDeletefor the people who hate the ending of the first comic
ReplyDeleteimagine this after the pic where spike left:
after one week:
spike comes flying back to ponyville
twilight asks what he's doing here en he says: "you thought i was gone forever? that's stupid im inviting you guys to the house/cave warming party."

i mean ending of the second comic...
ReplyDeletefail
1# LOLk
ReplyDelete2# :'C
I cried at the second one :(
ReplyDelete@IXImixi
ReplyDeleteNo, but you, me, and SuperGiantRobot seem to be in the minority.
@mephitislotor
ReplyDeleteWho?
*looks up*
ohai thar! Didn't notice ya thar! Y'all coulda bit me britches from up thar!!
Anyway ya the comic is sad. It's bittersweet. It tastes like the factors god put in life to make you and me a better, stronger, wiser individuals! That's why when I look at this comic, I feel the pain, and also the love and compassion coming from two directions!
first one is weird
ReplyDeletethe second one is deep, very deep. i love comics that tug at the heartstrings. we need more like those.
hey seth, is okay if i used the second one in my story, with your permission, of course?
