Twilight Sparkle, she's a hero! Gonna take Nightmare Moon down to zero! She's our powers magnified And she's fighting on the kingdom's side!
Twilight Sparkle, she's a hero! Gonna take Nightmare Moon down to zero! Gonna help her put asunder Bad magic Nightmare tries to put us under!
You'll pay for this, Twilight Sparkle!
We're the Elements! You can be one too! Cos saving our Kingdom is the thing to do! Everlasting night time, is not the way! Hear what Twilight Sparkle, has to say!
I could have lived with it being like Sailor Moon I think... although in saying that I've not seen a single episode of Sailor Moon in my life. I am a terrible 90's child.
Seth knew it was a Captain Planet reference. Because there is no way he escaped that show's omnipresent scheduling. Turner put that thing on every cable network he so much as loaned money to. You couldn't escape that sky blue prick's Anvil messages during the 90s.
When you think about it, The Elements of Harmony are pretty lame without Magic. The only advantage I can think of for any of them is that maybe Applejack could use hers to force people to tell the truth, like a Wonder Woman lasso type deal.
Dat Captain Planet reference. Think there was another Captain Planet reference posted here earlier or yesterday. What it was, I can't remember. lol But yay, old nostalgia references. :D
I dunno. "Save the Planet, or I'll kick your ass to the curb" seems like a decent enough premise, or maybe I just like the planeteers beating people up and cussing them out in the name of the environment.
Ma-Ti= Fluttershy (That was easy) Rainbow= Wheeler. (Explanation, she see's Spitfire as a role model) Applejack = That guy with the earth powers.(I think his name was Kwame? But yeah 'earth' pony.) Rarity = Gi (Washes mane three times a day with a boiling hot spring and can effectively do the pull cord get splashed with water routine.) Pinky = Linka (Pinky is Flighty and Linka almost sounds like Pinka-mena)
Before anyone says anything, I'm a fan of Verminous Skumm. He turned people into half rat hybrids with toxic waste, that was awesome and evil.
#Mycutiemarkisagun
Yeah the anvil thing really was annoying, but that didn't detract from all the cool situations such as gaining radiation super powers. Many super heroes have radiation as a super power, but when villains get it...
You could use it to change the emotions or thoughts of others, I guess. You'd have to be a real dick to use it in an effective way, though, since you'd essentially be robbing people of their free will. I don't recall Ma-Ti ever using his power on humans though. Mostly, he just talked to his monkey.
@HMorris73 Totally. Just ALL adventure (probably) wouldn't of been great. I already know the rumor about LF wanting it to be an adventure series wasn't real.
Aquaman might not seem very dangerous but he can control anything in water right? That includes controlling things from the bacteria swimming in your blood stream to the eldritch god cthulhu.
Power of Heart + Aquaman's power + Fluttershy = ??????? (You see where this is going right? Also the dark future episode was one of the last ones wasn't it?)
Greenies are annoying and what they never realize is that early earth vulcanos created about 99% of all pollution, Mankind barely even does anything, OUR PLANET IS FINE.
@Kaijyuu You're probably right. Honestly I was a bit disappointed with the eps immediately after the pilot since I really liked the Sailor Moon/Magic Knight Rayearth vibe I had gotten, though I got over it and started enjoying the slice of life soon enough.
Every reaction I had to that comic, in no particular order: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysR-Npggh68 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1L1lj3XuK8&feature=related
I always thought that Captain Planet was freakin' hilarious. Just everything about it especially Ma-Ti, "HEART!" Also, I'm glad MLP is slice of life, I'm really sick of the Sailor Moon style things. The episode goes, inane setup and minimal character development, introduction of bad guy, initial defeat, work together to find the weak point that they can exploit for massive damage, then go into a re-usable transformation sequence and beat the shit out of the bad guy.
Acid rain, polluted water, mutated fish, yeah we've done awesome. You should consider getting your information on pollution from science journals not Glenn Beck. Your data is quite in accurate.
I too am glad MLP:FiM took the course it took as opposed to the Sailor Moon path. Now, I will say this, both season openers of MLP have shown the staff can do very good adventure stories. I love the fact the stories are spread out over multiple episodes (mind you they had to for multiple reasons, but I digress). It builds a good story without being/feeling rushed.
I would be pleased if they continue down what they have already shown. Many slice of life episodes with a few multi-part episodes which comprise of an adventure thrown in here and there. But hey, the series hasn't ended, and if they continue producing the quality they have shown us, well, we'll all be there.
If you're wondering my opinion on the comic (why?) Haha, but I believe I've seen that somewhere before.

ReplyDeleteIt's about time somebody made that joke.
ReplyDeletehere's to getting 6 th or 7 th comment
ReplyDeleteWhat do you have against Sailor Moon? :P
ReplyDeleteThough yeah, the slice of life series we got is way better than an adventure series probably would've been.
All in All it made me LOL
ReplyDeleteSummoning Twilight "OP" Sparkle, eh? Good plan.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the comic didn't seem to scale up large enough when I clicked on it. :( Had to strain my eyes a tad to read it.
oh god, Captain Planet reference... lol
ReplyDeleteThis is a Captain Planet reference, not Sailor Moon. Either way, this is cool.
ReplyDeleteHeart was the lamest ring in practice even though its the most terrifying ring in theory.
ReplyDeleteSeth deeper the mobile Version banner
ReplyDeleteIf Twi is Captain Planet... who is Ma-Ti?
ReplyDeleteWhy would it have been bad if it had been like Sailor Moon....
ReplyDelete*memories come flooding back*

Twilight Sparkle, she's a hero!
ReplyDeleteGonna take Nightmare Moon down to zero!
She's our powers magnified

Pfffffft. That's silly.
ReplyDeleteThe overall joke of the comic aside, though, I really like how this one's drawn.

It's like they're all Ma-Ti!
I liked Robot Chicken's parody of Captain Planet. Massive corporations need more kicks in the balls.
ReplyDeleteCAPTAIN PLANET!
Hey! Don't Diss Sailor Moon! Sailor Moon is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnywho... this comic was so funny.
Oh and someone has to say this: (kick some random guy in the nuts) TWILIGHT SPARKLE! Protect the environment or I will f-ing kill you!

ReplyDelete"Save the planet, our I'll kick your ***!"
ReplyDeleteThank goodness it didn't go that way, wild rabid Luna's couldn't of dragged me anywhere near the show if Episode 2 ended with that.
Dat Captain Planet reference. Think there was another Captain Planet reference posted here earlier or yesterday. What it was, I can't remember. lol But yay, old nostalgia references. :D
ReplyDeleteHeart!
ReplyDeleteI still say that south american kid got ripped off. What kind of power is "heart" compared to the other elements?
ReplyDelete@Bloomberg Such a great power when they lost them some inventor made weapons to mimic their old powers.
ReplyDeleteGave the kid with heart a pep talk. :( Might as well just said, "Sucks to be you!"
@Bloomberg
ReplyDeleteMind Control.
@Altherix
ReplyDeleteI dunno. "Save the Planet, or I'll kick your ass to the curb" seems like a decent enough premise, or maybe I just like the planeteers beating people up and cussing them out in the name of the environment.

It would work wonders at the bar, with the whole influence heart deal.

@Kaijyuu
ReplyDeleteI'm sure if they'd gone with Lauren's original 1/3 adventure, 2/3 slice of life + more Zecora and Luna idea it would still have been great.
I LoL'ed so hard!@
ReplyDeleteThis fills me with happy.
ReplyDelete@Emma Iveli
ReplyDeleteYeah I was a big Sailor Moon fan back in the day, and ponies + Sailor Moon gave us this.

ReplyDeleteI've seen that PMV before... and I love it... then agian I do love that song.
@RyGuy84
ReplyDeleteHe did use it on people. In the Bad Future episode, he REALLY used it on people. Much like Discord.
Personally I've been wondering if a Sailor Moon/My Little Pony crossover will happen. TWO Lunas!
@mechaluigi7
ReplyDeleteHEA-aw darn it! you beat me.
For anypony who doubts the power of heart, fast forward to about 9:10 of this video;

ReplyDeleteJust to add to the nightmare fuel...
Power of Heart + Aquaman = we're all doomed.
Twilight Sparkle can't be Captain Planet.
ReplyDeleteDon Cheadle is Captain Planet!
Look it up!
"Gonna reduce Pollution down to zero!"
ReplyDeleteI instantly despise the idea of this show.
Greenies are annoying and what they never realize is that early earth vulcanos created about 99% of all pollution, Mankind barely even does anything, OUR PLANET IS FINE.
Perfect video to go with this:
ReplyDeleteCaptain Twilight and the Ponyteers

take that polution!!
ReplyDeletei mean-nightmare moon!
@D. Shadows
ReplyDeleteMind control is one of the more disturbing powers out there, for exactly that reason.
And according to some reading, the Bad Future ep is #24-25 of season 1 (out of six seasons).
I always thought that Captain Planet was freakin' hilarious. Just everything about it especially Ma-Ti, "HEART!" Also, I'm glad MLP is slice of life, I'm really sick of the Sailor Moon style things. ReplyDeleteI totally saw this comic coming.
ReplyDeleteSwear to god, not enough power rangers parodies... if any even exist.
ReplyDeleteWell at least this one made up for the fact there's 6 of them...
I would die happy
ReplyDeleteAhem. *puts on ham googles*
ReplyDeleteCURSE YOU CAPTAIN PLANET!
*curls up with head in hooves* ow... ow... ow... ow...my brain has been assaulted... ow... ow...

ReplyDeleteAcid rain, polluted water, mutated fish, yeah we've done awesome. You should consider getting your information on pollution from science journals not Glenn Beck. Your data is quite in accurate.
I wondered if I was the only one to make the BSSM/MLP connection. Luna is so Chibi Usa/Black Lady.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Planet.
ReplyDeleteBy your fandom combined, I am a Captain Planet reference.
ReplyDeleteCAPTAAAAAAIIIIIN PLANNEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTT!!!!!

ReplyDeleteGreat. Now you got me imagining Rainbow Dash hitting on Pinkie, only to be rebuffed.
With Pinkie speaking in a Russian accent no less. xD
Looks like a more realistic HD version of this episode
ReplyDeleteAwesom :3
Classic joke is classic.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Twilight says, "remember kids if you have more than two fillies you are an eco-terrorist!"
ReplyDelete"thanks captain twilight!"
i distinktly remember the last episode of captain planet that aired.
