I really need to get around to playing Deus Ex once I get my new computer built. Newegg needs to hurry up and have better shell shockers! What is this 430 watt power supply?! I don't think that could even run a toaster these days.
Uhh, right, comics. Have some more Madmax to go with your Madmax.

Hahaha, love the Adam Jensen pony.
ReplyDeleteHe really didn't ask for this party...
ReplyDeleteWell, too bad!
Hehe, Jensen pony.
ReplyDeleteSaw #2 on DA earlier, Nightmare looks so content in the last panel.
Pinkie Pie showing her Portal thinking in the second panel.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Deus Ex is a great game. I love it, haven't beaten it still, but the story is amazing.
ReplyDeleteFor once, I saw a comic before it was here! I really want to play Deus Ex now!
ReplyDeleteI guess no pony cant resist a brushing
ReplyDeleteDeus Ex really isn't worth it, IMO.
ReplyDeletePirate it or wait for it to go on sale, but it's not worth full price.
Adam Jensen is objectively best pony. Because augmented sunglasses.
ReplyDeleteYo dawg, I herd you like Madmax, so we put some Madmax in with your Madmax so you can Madmax while you Madmax, dawg.
ReplyDeletePlayed the first Deus Ex and had a blast messing with the games many numerous glitches.
ReplyDeleteThe second ones hacking is tedious at best and doing the entire thing on pacifist is like playing Iji all over again.
i got my computer parts for like $600.It runs like a beast!
ReplyDeleteAugmented ponies, now that's an interesting idea!
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about Deus Ex, so the punchline to the first comic is lost to me, but I lovelovelove that second panel!
ReplyDeleteAnd this might be the best Ask Nightmare Moon yet; the last panel is just perfect. I'd recommend going to the source and reading the artist's description as well.
I call bullshit on the first comic. Jensen's cutie mark should be Sarif Industries' trademark.
ReplyDeleteThe one MadMax used belongs to one pony and one pony alone: JC Denton. No exceptions.
#1 LOL.
ReplyDelete#2 Brushie brushie brushie
@jodyjm13
ReplyDeleteAdam Jensen's most famous quote is "I never asked for this." That's pretty much the punchline.
Just to clarify, because a few other commentors raised some red flags for me, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the third game in the series, and, due to the first game's lack of a sub-title, they should all be referred to as the following:
ReplyDeleteDeus Ex = Deus Ex
Deus Ex: Human Revolution = Human Revolution
Deus Ex: Invisible War = The Mistake
#1 My parties are augmented
ReplyDelete#2 Oh Nightmare Moon, u so silly.
Nightmare Moon, can *I* brush your mane? :B
ReplyDeleteHey, 430 watts is 30 watts more than my computer's powersupply. :P I don't have a real big fancy gaming rig though.
ReplyDelete#1 Lawl. I've not played Deus Ex, though it seems like everyone and their dog is talking about it right now.
#2 Everyone start brushing Nightmare Moon's mane!
@Darkdrium
ReplyDeleteSorry, but JC Denton wins in that contest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ5VzlRvIw4
Haha, #2 is both funny and cute. Now I want to brush her mane as well.
ReplyDeleteDayum he makes one sexy pony.
ReplyDeleteThe punchline in #1 for all of who didn't get it:
ReplyDelete"I never asked for this" is Adam's first line.
I Can't remember whether it was the first line before or after he got his augs...
@gillnavisingh
ReplyDeleteHe never asked to be augmented, so that's the first thing he says after he's augmented, unless he had something else he didn't ask for, that was before the augs, happen to him... but I don't think so.
@gillnavisinghThat's the first thing Adam says in the debut trailer for Human Revolution.
ReplyDeleteIn the actual game, Adam says it if you have him respond resentfully to questions about his augmentations.
brushie brushie brushie.
ReplyDeleteI literally bent over my desk laughing at that first one.
ReplyDeleteMadmax brushing Nightmare Moon's mane? I never asked for this!
ReplyDeleteI like how pony Jensen has an augmented horn and augmetned wings. But that cutie mark should be reserved for JC Pony.
ReplyDeleteWe need a deus ex crossover NOW! BTW, I loved that game.
ReplyDelete@Octavia
ReplyDeleteActually, these days it's Dark Souls.
In that strip, Pinkie has some augmented 4th Wall breaking skills. xD
ReplyDeleteFor those wondering about Deus Ex, this is the (epic) trailer:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoRwOux7Ofw
Most of those scenes happen ingame, although in slightly altered fashion, and graphically, if you're on a powerful enough system that can do DirectX 11 video, it can look nearly as good as this movie.
It's the rare sort of game where, with the sole exception of boss fights, you can proceed through the entire thing without killing ANYONE. The easiest way to describe it would be Fallout meets Ghost in the Shell..
Awww, Nightmare Moon is just a big softy! *Is never seen again*
ReplyDeleteAgreed. That or a picture of a swollen larynx. Also his back legs should be augmented.
ReplyDeleteFreakin' love his aug'd wings and horn though.
Now I'm imagining Spike walking through immediately after... "What a shame."
He never asked to be a Pony...
ReplyDelete...I laughed way harder than I should have. Think I woke my neighbor up.
Just MadMax
ReplyDeleteI'm STILL jealous of not being able to brush Nightmare Moon's wonderful mane...
ReplyDeleteAnyone else notice that NMM seemed way more huggable than usual? Not that that's a bad thing,actually... NMM seemed Like a pony who needed a good hug in the first place, and I have many hugs to spare.
ReplyDeleteDear Nightmare Moon. You Rock. Especially when you were in the castle. P.S. Do you know Madmax?
ReplyDelete#1 lol at Deus pony! (Great game btw)
ReplyDelete#2 madmax u lucky sog
Funny, I just stopped playing the first Deus Ex a few minutes ago.
ReplyDeleteThis is funny in 5 different ways.

ReplyDeletelolwat. My link vanished.... TAKE TWO!
Ah, it's good to be here. Look at that Adam Jensen pony. "I never asked for this." Really? You never asked to be thrown THROUGH a computer monitor wall into a bank of manufacturing equipment and nearly die? That's freaking incredible. I paid good money for that. Who's your guy? In any case, tough. You have to deal with it now. Ooh, "I was a normal Earth Pony and now I'm a cybernetic Alicorn with all the powers of regular Alicorns and more because my boss was nice enough to save my life with high-tech machinery. I'm even some kind of genetic wonder that doesn't require regular injections of Neuropozene to prevent my body from rejecting the augmentations. Now Pinkie Pie is throwing me a surprise party. My life is so hard."
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I mentioned that I played Deus Ex: Human Revolution and didn't particularly like it. For the most part the mechanics are solid, and the story starts off interesting, but it falls apart about three quarters of the way through.
Also the voice acting for virtually every main character is terrible.
Well, Jelfes did say that the ending was a writing masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course you notice the voice acting. Hurry up and become a renowned voice actor already!!
YOU MAY NOT HAVE ASKED FOR THIS, BUT HERE IT IS, POST!!!
ReplyDeleteEGGS EGGS EGGS EGGS EGGS EGGS EGGS EGGS EGGS!
ReplyDeleteLook! A moose! (Couldn't help myself)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid the first comic is lost on me. I never played Deus Ex. The NMM one is cute though.
In regards to our previously occupied post, speaking as a former Point & Click Adventure Addict I found the demo piqued my interest. I look forward to the game's release.

Goodnight.
Off I go to the hospital to play piano for the families of those in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteOh, how things have switched. On this page in the last post, I was talking about how I myself was going to have surgery. This is going to be great.
I believe I know why Celestia told Twilight to make some friends...it was for her health. Even then, having friends doesn't seem to have improved her habit of staying shut in a library most of the day, either standing up or sitting on the floor. Do you know how active a normal horse is? Horses travel 20 miles a day, on average, with most of that time spend grazing or searching for fodder. I could see Applejack and Rainbow Dash being active "enough" to fit reality, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie might be active enough, Twilight and Rarity certainly not active enough.
ReplyDeleteThere is the great disconnect I find between Pony and real horses, one that modern humans share as well. Built for activity, while civilizing influences keep us inactive. Will this result in obesity or other ill effects? I doubt it. Lucky ponies.
@Trotsky
ReplyDeleteI think another reason that Princess Celestia told Twilight to make some friends had something to do with the whole "eternal night" thing. As far as I'm concerned this is canon.
Don't forget, these ponies, especially Twilight and Rarity, are magic and are apparently very resistant to injury and quick to heal when they are injured or otherwise unwell. It took only a few days for Dash's broken wing to heal, Twilight apparently broke both her front legs when she fell into Applejack's cellar and escaped with only a black eye and some scratches when Derpy dropped the anvil et al. on her, and she was fine two scenes later. Not to mention that potions apparently exist that can cure/induce virtually anything as we've seen from Zecora's herbalism.
Obesity still seems to be an issue for some ponies, however. The colt with the fork and knife cutie mark (apparently named either Chunk or Truffle Shuffle) is clearly intended to be overweight. Mrs. Cake also seems a bit heavier than average, even after the twins were born.
Of course, we don't see every moment of the ponies' lives, so maybe Twilight and Rarity go to the gym or otherwise exercise when we aren't looking. All of the ponies (with the exception of Applejack and Rainbow Dash) seem to go to the spa on a regular basis, so why not the gym? Pinkie Pie must have that exercise outfit for some reason.
Basically, I'm thinking that either the ponies use some form of magic to keep themselves healthy in the absence of exercise, they actually do exercise when we aren't looking, or weight gain/nutrition/cardiovascular issues affect only certain ponies.
Over-analyzing is magic.
Oh, about obesity, aren't ponies vegitarian? Or whatever you call it.
ReplyDeleteYou know nerds who are really thin. It's something like that, isn't it?
Well, according to Pinkie in You Gotta Share, You Gotta Care: "Both our diets, I should mention, are completely vegetarian. We all eat hay and oats." However, according to Pinkie in Fall Weather Friends (the episode of the show I have watched more than any other), "I'm not sure how ketchup is gonna help her (Rainbow Dash) in this contest. Now, in a hot dog eating contest, it can make them doggies nice and slippery, but personally, I prefer mustard." There's also a sandwich that looks suspiciously like it has meat on it in A Bird in the Hoof.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think the ponies are all vegetarians and consider all of those "meat" instances to be soy based imitation meat products like this.
In toy story 2 Buzz gets a wing boner at the end

Goodnight.
4am and I just woke up. Doesn't seem like I'll go back to sleep, so I might as well comment here.
ReplyDeleteWell, the thing at the hospital went well. I managed to fill the 2-hour time slot given to me. For some reason, I feel awkward when people applaud me....
I also went to Olive Garden with my neighbors (very good friends) and my own family (minus my brother, who apparantly is sick) as a sort of farewell partyc because I'm moving. Long story short, that is a lot of food right there. I probably spent twenty bucks on my meal...
During the dinner, my neighbor (a "100%" Portuguese navy ship captain) asked me if I had seen the Avengers. I told him no, because for one thing, I haven't seen all of the movies leading up to it. He told me that he had Captain America (the one movie I had left) on Blu-Ray and said that I could watch it if I wanted to.
So I watched Captain America. Let me just say this: from the very moment that the antagonist was revealed, I was thoroughly convinced that everybody was fighting against a de-Masked Jim Carey. No, not against Elrond from LOTR or Mr. Smith from the Matrix (although that little flashback thing I swear was a reference to that), but against a much more serious and on-par-crazy Jim Carey from The Mask.
That, and of course, the technology was a bit to advanced for the 1940's to be accurate for me, even for a sci-fi.
Come to think of it, didn't Sethisto run a movie-rating blog before he started EqD? If you view his blogger profile, you'll see that one of his blogs is for movie critique.
Also, I somehow got into a conversation with Octavia and Alexstrasza in the comments section of the now nearimg 1000 comments discussion post (click the bad-rp'er @DISCORD's comment's replies).
The reason that I haven't been helping with SALT or progressing with music or really doing anything is because of the fact that I'm moving. I promise that once I move, I'll start working more with these things.

Wow those were some long comments on who would be the best choice for a blog mod. I would toss my vote in Octavia's hat because for as long as I've known him/her they've always been helpful,critiqful, and has been around a good bit. I never could despite being part of that seniority group (I think may double check) that and I have no skills what so ever -_-
ReplyDeleteOctavia is a she, as many of the older members of this group painfully remember in my attempts at recruiting her o.e
ReplyDeleteSadly, my local Olive Garden does not have Ceasar Salad on its' menu.....
So I opted for the chicken and gnochi soup. Very delicious. There was also some shrimp, I think calvacanti, cataloni, something like that.
If I had better grammar I would defiantly try to get a spot like that somewhere. I also have some connections in this situation. who are they? I'm not telling
ReplyDeleteWell DUH, through Tetra, you probably have tea-dates with Mic the Microphone and all that jazz. Speaking of which, how is Tetra lately? I have him as a Skype contact, even got invited into the group (which I now regret having left), but we don't really talk ever. It would be weird if I just went OHAI!
ReplyDeleteIf we got you an editor, you would be the single greatest blogpony of all time, Jaco. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
I'm reading through The Count Of Monte Cristo (again) and am actually correcting all the grammatical and editorial errors that got through the publisher. This is sad.
Oddly enough, I read classical literature while watching my brother play Battlefield 3. He's maxed out all classes except Engineer (Saiga 12K shotgun FOR THE WIN) and is a level 30+ prestige/whatever. In otherwords, 30 levels above max rank. I can hardly get a 1:1 kill/death ratio.
ReplyDeleteMy physics teacher is no longer at my school. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Also, corn.

I say that because I just cooked five corn on the cobs and I am forced to.eat them all by myself.

Speaking about that seniority thing, I forgot EqD was started about June/July, and since I didn't make an account until October, not involved there.
ReplyDeleteAlthough looking back, I had no true idea what I was doing and probably the best post I had was the one where I got away at being first to "first"
According to the archive, EqD began in January last year, as near as I can tell.
ReplyDeleteHey gangsta's! Yeah, I've been lurkin' the new thread, but due to a change of residence and being rather sick I haven't been inclined to say much. Now if you'll excuse me, I have Kleenexes to kill.
I FOUND IT!!!! I FINALLY FOND THE POST!!!! Actually it was by chance. Google apparently tracks every profile picture that I use, and the dates at which I used them :D
ReplyDeleteI remember stalking this blog long before season 2 came out. Weird how I didn't even make an account until then.....
Also, DeRock got replied to by Phoe, and Sibsy used to comment.
@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeletePhoe replied to me as well, when I said I didn't like the sad description of the story "Yours Truly." She told me to give it a shot and I did. Oh Celestia, I did.
I also seem to recall Sibsy still commenting occasionally, though she hasn't done it for at least a couple of months.
I'm off to bed. Tonight, instead of a song, I'll leave you with a stroll down memory lane.
ReplyDeleteThis is the post where Phoe replied to me. That was four days before I joined SALT. Look at the names of the first four commenters.
One of my favorite songs as linked by Dr. Discord, back when he was just Discord; back before he attended Upstairs Hollywood Medical College.
Another post by Discord. I wholeheartedly disagree with the second highest rated comment.
This one, again from Discord, is a bit dark, but I know a guy who would love it for that reason and the choice of character.
Finally, from Discord again, a clip that's probably irrelevant right now and is definitely seasonally inappropriate.
Bombe, this comment was not just to torment you with glimpses of what was and may yet be again. It was mainly just me having a fit of nostalgia for the "good old days" nearly seven (7!) months ago. I know how you feel.
In vaguely related news, I can't wait for Halloween.

ReplyDeleteOh, Shwiggan.....
I can't recall all of the times I got responded to by mods. I think the only ones I'm missing are Tekaramity and Cereal, although I think Cereal might have once replied to me....
By the way, four days before you joined SALT, eh? Oh my.....
Well, I just joined Tetra's group of, what, thirty? Fifty? It's large, alright...

I literally never noticed that before.
Schmaltzy has a problem with everything. It's "Talk Like Zecora Day" on EqD and he's calling all the rhyming in the comments "pointless rhyme spam" and said "Bronies like beating a dead horse, like Scootachicken and Fluttertree."

ReplyDeleteStill!!! Seth's a chill dude. I'm not sure why it would be such a bad idea. Of course, I'm not saying you should go out and prank him. just, yknow.
Schmaltzy tried to pick a fight with me and I pointed out how hypocritical he is for condemning "first grabbers" (his own terminology) and then doing it himself, and he kept saying I was "angry" and "raging" for calmly providing facts that he conveniently "forgot" and when I said he sounded like a troll, he said I was insulting him and there was no call for it.
ReplyDeleteHe is a troll and it's not anger or raging when you calmly point out disconnects between words and actions.
Then Chromosome commented saying "are you guys for real?" and then deleted the whole back and forth.
And you know what? His responses got no upvotes while mine did.

ReplyDeleteSome stores let you buy only the toys (although I haven't come across any yet), and others let you choose which toys you want. The one I went to today was neither, and only had Lillyblossom in stock. Oh well...
And they changed the box art for the Happy Meals for ponies.
But she's right there, Rarity...
Also, Lillyblossom is much smaller than Fluttershy (lengthwise; compare the packets), but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that or if its because Fluttershy was made in Vietnam and Lillyblossom in China. I don't really mind though, honestly.
Also, tomorrow is my first day of school. I'll be joining the same school as I was in before, and I've heard only a few people have left, so yay for that!
@ThunderIce
ReplyDeleteGreat collection there. When I went searching for mine, I asked them for the whole set and I heard the guy behind the counter ask a coworker "where's that white box with all the toys?" I had heard that they have something called a "customer satisfaction box" that has ten full sets of toys for collectors and that must be what he meant. I got a full set like that and didn't have to buy any of their terrible food at all.
And speaking of Rarity, it seems that Tabitha St. Germain actually provided the voice for Rarity in this fan animation.
If it's true, that's a whole new level right there. I kind of figured that the actual VAs would end up providing voices for fan animation eventually, but I'm not sure if I like it. I mean, fan animation is a completely different animal from official animation and this seems to be blurring the line.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteThanks. I guess there's no such thing here though. I asked the guy for different ponies, he said they only have this in stock, "but we'll have a different one tomorrow"... I think each store has its own rules/guidelines, since the first one I went to had different ponies in stock (long story why I could only get Fluttershy from there).
And my second image seems to redirect to the first one. That's odd.
Hmm, official VA's providing voicing for fan animations. I'm not sure how I feel about that... Did she provide the voice specifically for the video or could it be like that Twilightlicious animation? (I can't watch the video because dumb headphones and 2AM)
@ThunderIce
ReplyDeleteAccording to this journal entry by the animator, it seems that she did the voice specifically for the animation, or at least he recorded her talking in character and used it in the animation.
If someone cries does anyone hear or feel it?
ReplyDeleteDo they feel the emotional hurricane raging within?
Does that person tell someone what they saw and what they felt?
And will they do it again one may ask but that is not the right question
The question to that my dear friends is within the mind and soul
Ya gave me an idea PP!
ReplyDeleteIf a man cried for help in the middle of nowhere...
and there's no one around to hear him...
Did he make a sound...?
Editing one line:
ReplyDeleteIf a man cried for help in a forest...
Just to be true to the original.
I got Firecracker Burst as a blindbag from WeLoveFine. I really like the show-accurate mane.
ReplyDelete@Trotsky
ReplyDeleteHmm, I can't tell if you're serious since that particular pony is just a recolor of Twilight that hasn't appeared on the show. Well, unless this is to be believed. Though the ponies in those images don't have any visible cutie marks and the eye and/or mane colors are off on all of them.
Now, Sugar Grape is my favorite "toy only" pony because of an offhand joke I made up about her decapitating a dragon with an oar. I say "toy only" though she may have actually appeared in at least one scene of the show. A filly that has the same color scheme and cutie mark as Sugar Grape, but with different color eyes, can be seen for about a second talking to a pony in the background of this scene.
Now leaving the US/Mexico border. It is so dense on the north side of Mexico with so many lights.....
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteMexico? Whaa?
I'm off to bed. Don't forget, tomorrow is a repeat of the Royal Wedding Event and during the event there may be an announcement of the premiere date for season 3.
ReplyDeleteNow, I'll leave you all with a song that young whippersnappers probably won't recognize. I apologize for the low volume on the video, but this is literally the only intact copy of this version I could find.
Dr. Worm
Goodnight.
I don't mind the fact that it is a recolour, I'll take whatever pony I can get. Not having to take care of an unstyleable mane is just one of the perks.
ReplyDelete@Trotsky
ReplyDeleteBrushie brushie.
I find brushing manes to be relaxing, even if they don't look any better when I'm finished.
The Hub just had a commercial with clips from the first two episodes that said "coming up next, more My Little Pony, now 20% cooler." I haven't watched the show on TV for a while, so I don't know how new that commercial actually is.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Applejack seems to be sexist. "Isn't that just like a boy. Can't handle the least bit of sentiment." I always found those lines to be odd. This show breaks down gender stereotypes, but those lines seem to reinforce them. I mean, Big Mac, Applejack's own brother, has broken down in tears at least once, showing that guys can be sensitive, and gender doesn't really play a role in the show at all. Sure, the vast majority of characters are female, but the storylines and lessons aren't gender specific and gender being brought up as an "important" defining characteristic happens only rarely. Offhand, I can only think of two examples: Applejack's lines at the end of The Ticket Master and Rarity flirting with the nerd pony in Putting Your Hoof Down in order to help Fluttershy.
Can anyone think of any other examples of gender playing a role?
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteAnything related to Rule 63.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@Dublio
ReplyDeleteWell, yeah, but I don't think that Dusk Shine or Bubble Berry have ever been on the show.
The Royal Wedding is over and it wasn't actually an encore of the season 2 finale event. Sure, it had the finale episodes and the wedding invitation bumpers at the start and end of commercial breaks, but it didn't have the little skits with Tori Spelling. Most importantly, there was no announcement about the start of season 3. There was an announcement about Family Game Night starting a new season on the 23rd, and, as I recall, Family Game Night's season started the day after season 2 of FiM began. That would suggest that season 3 could begin on the 22nd, which is a Saturday and would certainly be possible.
"Lemon's had a misfortune." Seriously, who talks like that? Strawberry Shortcake's writers need to work on making dialogue believable. On top of that, Zecora's rhyming speech fits her character and makes sense in context. Berrykin Bloom's rhyming just seems ridiculously out of place. Lemon sounds very similar to Pinkie Pie and Plum sounds nearly identical to Rainbow Dash because they're voiced by Andrea Libman and Ashleigh Ball reapectively, though you all probably knew that. Although, none of the voice acting sounds anywhere near as good as it is on FiM. It's like the VAs either know this show isn't really worth the effort or the voice director isn't very good. They also have a physical size that's inconsistent with the society in which they live. I mean, most of the population is comprised of people literally made of fruit, while the remainder is either sapient bug people or animals with seemingly realistic intelligence levels. Why are there a handful of human children the size of ants living in this world? Furthermore, they have completely modern technology like mopeds, busses, cell phones, and the internet; but they ride on birds for long distance travel. Why don't they have planes if they have all this other stuff?
In short, I occasionally watch Strawberry Shortcake, but I don't like it because it's full of inconsistencies and is generally not very good.
So, let's see what we got in the most recent comic post... a boring "to the moon" joke, combined with some OTP nonsense... yet another attempt at a sappy Scootaloo/Rainbow Dash comic... and a poorly executed Lyra/humans/Bob Bon joke, which seems to be mocking bronies. Oh my head, are we really this played out? I've even defended people for this kind work before, but only if it's at least somewhat good. EqD is gettin' lazy in the hunt for content I think.
ReplyDelete@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteIt could be EqD being lazy in their search for content, or it could be some Brony artists are just lazy or risk averse. Fandom content isn't played out, it just needs to be experimented with. It really seemed that the Dash/Scoots comic was going to confront her disability, but no, it was just another "Dash takes Scoots for a ride" comic. We've only seen that a few dozen times before, and usually it's executed better. While this isn't exactly "going for a ride" I think it's a pretty realistic interpretation of their relstionship. I mean, it can't be entirely one sided with Scoots just obsessing over Dash for no good reason and with no reciprocation. The Lyra comic just seemed to be ridiculing Bronies, even though the artist claims to be a Brony and wanted to highlight how "the obsession with fandom can be destructive." I think that this is a much better comic with a similar theme. Finally, I think the whole "shipfic author Twilight" thing is just taken directly from Friendship is Witchcraft.
Come on. At least try a new variation on some fandom idea.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteExactly, I believe you summed up more effectively what I meant to say. It's as if some people aren't just mimicking others' work, they're practically copying them outright.
If someone wants to do a Scootaloo bit, that's great, but show us something different from what we've seen countless times before. (At the very least, it would be nice to see her in character.) We need to take some chances, experiment, do something different. The comics on this very post do a better job of that.
Oh, and about Strawberry Shortcake, I haven't watched very much of that, but I will say this: there's only so much you can do with cheesy script-writing, even if you're the best (voice) actor around. I found that out in a few minor theater productions I was involved in... since we had our own "writer" doing revisions of popular scripts, the plays were often magnificently boring and didn't make much sense, even though some of the actors and actresses were quite talented.
@DerpGarde
ReplyDeleteYou! I thought I told you not to show your ugly mug around here again! You will be punished.
I started rewriting Twilight Vs The Brushies in an attempt to get it ready for EqD and I got distracted by the "give Applejack an episode" flash event thing. I guess I'll just post my entry for "hard mode" here.
ReplyDeleteApplejack's parents return from their world tour as Equestria's premiere country music couple and bring with them the unexpected news that they have in fact, been dead since before the series began. That's right, ghostly parent visit for Applejack. After she stops screaming, they tell her that her destiny was not, as she always thought, to run a fruit selling business, but mathematics and astrophysics, which she will need to use to save Equestria from a meteor strike in six years. She must then enroll in the Manehattan Institute of Technology and ingratiate herself with surly math jocks and professors that care more about the elbow patches on their blazers than teaching math or physics. After she fails her first few tests, she becomes disheartened and feels that she will never be able to save Equestria from destruction, but a strongly worded letter to the dean of students that includes the phrase “buck in the flank” no less than 49 times gets the formerly prestigious school back on the path to glory. A montage of professors undergoing retraining and repairing the dilapidated school facilities then ensues, with Applejack doing much of the repair work herself. Applejack then begins falling in love with a unicorn stallion who encourages her to leave her studies behind and run off with him to Los Pegasus where his uncle is a bigshot movie producer and she would be perfect for the lead role in his new picture. Applejack writes letters to each of her friends explaining about the ghostly prophecy and asking advice. They each tell her to do whatever she feels in her heart. Twilight's letter also mentions that there is no meteor on a collision course with Equestria, and the vision of her parents may have been a guilt induced hallucination. Applejack follows her heart, which is to stay true to her parent's prophecy and remain in school. The stallion then flies into a rage and reveals that he is, in truth, an alien creature whose civilization is mobilizing to fire meteors at Equestria because the happiness of others telepathically screeches at them through the void of space and is driving their civilization insane. Applejack then switches her major to biotechnology and develops a gene therapy treatment that makes the aliens immune to the negative effects of telepathically hearing laughter and happiness across thousands of light years of space. The aliens are forever in debt to Applejack and grant Equestria technology that allows all ponies to become immortal.
And that's how Equestria was saved.
@MyBoyJ but that is actually how Equestria was saved. Normally you want to go with something different like:
ReplyDeleteAnd that's why that stallion really likes jelly.
Megaman 3: Dr. Discord's Conquest...
ReplyDeleteWell, that name sounds familiar XD
I'm off to bed. Have another classic '90s music video aimed at children.
ReplyDeleteIstanbul (Not Constantinople)
Goodnight.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteI just did a little reading up on the song, and apparently They Might Be Giants did the cover and the song originated in the 1950's and was performed by The Four Lads. Have the original version to compare.
Istanbul (Not Constantinople)
Personally, I like TMBG's version better. Goodnight.
I am so bored I am actually proofreading the terms and conditions to the battlefield 3: Armored Kill update that I just installed. I've already found a typo just in the table of contents. Wow....
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteI updated my Picasso drawing program for my phone (the one I used for all my "art" during the NATG) because it promised pinch zoom that would facilitate more accuracy and fine detail. As it turns out, trying to use pinch zoom crashes the program. Every time. Without exception.
That seems to be the story of a lot of Android "Apps." One has great reviews, you download it and love it, then they update it and the update breaks it, at least until they release an update to fix the last update.
trying to find good deals on MIDI keyboards.
ReplyDeleteIt would save me a TON of time if i could get a MIDI keyboard.
Let's try to end this comment drought.
ReplyDeleteI saw this yesterday. It's more information about the BlackGryph0n Rarity animation wherein Rarity sounds just about identical to the way she sounds on the show. If it really is Tabitha St. Germain, and this new journal entry seems to imply that it is, that's another reason I don't like the idea of actual VAs from the show getting involved with fan projects. I figured that some of the VAs might do voices for fan animation if/when the show ends and they're released from their contracts, but doing it while the show is still ongoing would be a violation of their contract with The Hub/Hasbro. They could potentially lose their job. Ultimately, while getting an official VA to provide a voice for a fan project sounds great on the surface, it potentially endangers the show itself. Just imagine of they fired Tabitha St. Germain and had to find a replacement to voice Rarity/Luna/Granny Smith/Mrs. Cake/etc. I could see something like that being a potential death knell for the show, not the sensationalism surrounding Mare Do Well or Canterlot Wedding being the "worst episodes" that "destroy canon."
Discuss. Um, that is, if you want to...
Just find great fan VA's....? Also, this, this, and this is awesome. Ambiance is an amazing thing.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I guess lots of people have been really busy with their own lives and such. It does seem rather slow. Curse thee comment drought, curse you to Bubblegum Land!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've been busy with my whole moving thing, and since all of my craziness and puns and such is being sentry-grade sapped by Dr Discord's Tetra group, I have nothing really fun to say at the current moment in time.
ReplyDeleteAww, that's okay Bombedrumbum. *hugs*
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteyou don't need fancy stuff to talk in the group... hell I'm going to say "zippity waffles!" just for the whatever... chat will continue from there
>"you don't need fancy stuff to talk in the group"
ReplyDelete>group's name is "it's time to be fancy!"
Whut.
Zomg, it's a Discord. :o
ReplyDeleteAHHHHH
ReplyDeleteI would certainly hate to see one of our favorite VAs get in trouble, but I would think she knows what she's doing. Maybe there's a loophole or something, or maybe the higher ups just don't care. I do imagine it's not going to happen too often either way (assuming it's all true).
ReplyDeleteBandcamp now has a mobile interfacr- YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES!!

ReplyDelete...
That goes from a cute Twilight to an annoying dog in a very short amount of time.
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does. Maybe a chihuahua or something.
Sleep beckons. Have a song.
ReplyDeleteParticle Man
Goodnight.
Any reason for the sudden takedown of Discordlicious?
ReplyDelete@Trotsky
ReplyDeleteHas it been taken down? I just checked, and the original BronyCon animation of it is still up.
@MBJ
ReplyDeleteJust heard about the storms that hit your area over the weekend. I hope you and your family weren't affected.
I didn't get to hear the second Discordlicious unfortunately.
@ClosetBrony
ReplyDeleteThanks for your concern. It was the tail end of Hurricane Isaac, I think. In our area, it was pretty much just a moderate thunderstorm that didn't cause any damage. There were a couple of tornadoes to the west of us in Queens and Coney Island that caused some property damage, but we're fine.
Hiya people! Just dropping on by to tell you all how I've been. Sorry I haven't been here as much as I'd like to. My comp still can't handle blogger to save my life. I've also been working a lot for a while now. Sadly I won't be working at all in a couple of weeks, but I have a lot saved up and I'm only a little over $100 short of getting a decent laptop that would allow me to talk more here and play some games! Now, just to get that money quickly as I'm a very impatient person... I'll also stick around here for the day.
ReplyDelete@Cloudy Haste
ReplyDeleteHey! Good to see you again! It's also good to hear that you're close to getting a better computer. Hopefully that means you'll be able to join in on TF2 nights (which I forgot this past week). I may have asked this before, but what's your job?
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteI only wash dishes and clean tables at a small little cafe. Nothing much. $8 an hour and free food!
@Cloudy Haste
ReplyDeleteDelicious free food.
I'm still looking for work wherever I can. I keep applying at stores and things, but nothing is working out.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteAh, that sucks. I don't fully have that problem here. There isn't really anywhere that's hiring, but I know most of the people here, so I can grab jobs rather easily. I'm sure that you'll get a good one sooner or later!
@Cloudy Haste
ReplyDeleteYeah. I've been looking for a year now. I've been applying to just about everything I can and still nothing. Apparently, if you submit an application online they just ignore it, so I've been applying in person. As far as I can tell, that hasn't helped, though.
Bah. Enough abut my job search. Is anything else interesting happening?
I have finally been taken under the Raven's dagger-like wings and become a pre-reader :O
ReplyDeleteOne word to describe it all: COMMAS.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteNothing except the fires everywhere around me. Just waiting til I can get the rest of the money for my laptop. I just hope they don't sell out of them by the time I get the money. That's pretty much me in a nutshell right now haha!
@Cloudy Haste
ReplyDeleteFires? Is everything okay in your area? I hope you aren't in any danger.
Bombe, you're pre-reading now?
*Breaks down in tears*
I'd love it if you could give my latest rewrites a read. I've made some significant changes to Psychomares and I want to see if I'm going in the right direction.
NOBODY EXPECTS THE GRAMMAR INQUISITION!!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Ravens and I need to have a serious talk about his commas. If there's one thing I excelled at in English, it was commas.
MyBoyJ, it will be a while until I am can actually call myself a pre-reader. For one thing I've never played Psychonauts. Not that it really matters, as I really am only a grammar nazi at this point. After my training is well under way, I'll be able to help with writing.
So wait, like an actual prereader for EqD, or do you mean you've simply become more active on SALT?
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeletePlaying Psychonauts before reading my story will only help you understand a certain jokes and and see where I drew inspiration for a few characters. I explain all of the relevant ideas and items from Psychonauts in the story. After all, the main character is Pinkie and she doesn't know about any of this stuff from living in canon Ponyville. She's like an "audience surrogate" character who asks questions that unfamiliar readers would ask.
Fun Fact: All of the major characters in the story are somewhat repurposed characters from the show. OCs fill only a few very minor roles and I'm trying to write the story so it mostly fits into the actual canon of the show.
Grammar nazism is what I really need right now, since it was rejected based on grammar and punctuation.
Bed time. Have a song that's educational and also a little dated, considering that one of the lines is "Germany; now in one piece."
ReplyDeleteYakko's World
Goodnight.
Ah, yes. Raven's comma shaker. I remember it well. I think he buys them in bulk. Just kidding Ravens; love ya!
ReplyDelete@Cloudy Haste
ReplyDeleteHey there! Nice to hear from you again! How've you been keeping?
@Bombe
Wait; an actual EqD prereader or a prereader for Ravens? Either way; pretty cool.
In other unrelated news, auto correct is pretty useful-when it works. When it doesn't, it's pretty horrible. Looks like I'll have to deal with it till I reinstall Windows and get everything up and running again. It has a tendency to add random "I"s and "and"s, so if my comments have random words in them for the next few days, you know why.
Just watched The Muppets. Pretty good, but could be better.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's been very quiet today. I might as well go to bed. Have a song that's educational, features political satire, alcohol and tobacco, and was also from a children's show.
ReplyDeleteThe Presidents Song
Goodnight.
Loved the Animaniacs! Great homage to Tex Avery and Chuck Jones.
ReplyDeleteIt smells here. Everywhere. As in all of SoCal.
ReplyDelete*look of disapproval*
DANG SMELLIES!! It's like a year ago when all around San Diego, it was like a city bus exhaust was right next to you. The thing was that strong, and the source is still unknown.
Also, there's a guy named Carl Luna on the local news here (some random citizen got.interviewed for a proposition for revising the "Three Strikes Law"). I know a certain artist who would like that last name......
I do.not like this smell. It's like the earth is farting.
@Bombedrumbum I have three guesses to why this is..
ReplyDelete1. Your incredibly large amount of earthquakes may have released a pocket of trapped sulphur.
2. South California has a weather system over head that's trapping the vehicle exhaust in the city.
3. Everyone forgot to buy new eggs.
Ze Dr. is looking into it!
Oh, wow......
ReplyDeleteRight as my one-year anniversary in commenting on EqD comes up, this guy named Kyo is following in my footsteps. Let's see here....
He comments on most afternoon/night posts
When he does comment on a post, he comments a LOT.
His comments tend to derail fast
Did I mention that he comments with the same tenacity and persistence that I did?
Heh...
I was going to go to sleep, but the moment I lay down into my bed, I saw my ceiling. On the ceiling directly above my head was a small, fuzzy, black-and-red spider. I instantly electrocuted it, killing it with a flash. Needless to say, i'm not sleeping anytime soon.....
"Ze Dr. is looking into it!"
Heh, yeah, sure ya are.......go to bread already.
That Kyo guy is the one obsessed with Gilda and griffons in general, as I recall. Of all the characters he could choose as a favorite, why Gilda? I may be biased, but seriously, she's intolerable.
ReplyDelete@Millennial Dan
ReplyDeleteI think some people like Gilda because their headcanon is full of stories like this. Or, you know, less "family friendly" stories like this.
Back before Mare Do Well aired, I remember that one of the many theories about Mare Do Well's identity was "Gilda redeeming herself." Even though she was explicitly a bully on the show, some people want her to have a good reason for her behavior and want her to redeem herself, maybe to show that "people can change for the better".
Personally, I think that a zookeeper on The Simpsons sums it up best.
Ha, agreed. I wouldn't complain if she tried to make ammends for what her behavior; in fact, a few apologies would be very refreshing coming from her. I just don't expect it because, let's face it, she is indeed just a jerk. What "happened" to her wasn't really sad, it was her own doing after all. Freudian excuses and hidden pain are certainly popular features when it comes to our MLP antagonists in the realm of fanon. Trixie is a gargantuan example.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Trixie and Gilda are given so many excuses for their behavior, but literally ALL of the antagonists, and even the flat out villains also have some kind of justification given for their actions. I guess it's a function of fandom to try and answer the question of why a particular character behaves the way they do.
ReplyDeleteAlong those lines, I really like this comic, though the artist says it's a twisted view of events from Discord's perspective and not representative of what "really happened", and I don't agree with a few of the backstory implications.
Sleepy sleep time. What's that? ClosetBrony likes Animaniacs? Well, okay then.
ReplyDeleteWakko's America
What better way to educate kids than with songs about history and geography on a semi-subversive cartoon filled with pop culture references and sometimes not so subtle adult humor that they wouldn't understand?
Haha, "Charlie Chan" parody. They did get away with a few adult jokes didn't they. And those Jeopardy categories! Imagine them trying to explain Astro Physics. Wait, they did do one on astronomy.
ReplyDeleteOkay guys, so, you know how unicorns went extinct like 2 to 3,000 years ago? Well, here's my theory: since unicorn horns were worth a lot back then, I think that they used their unicorn powers to transform into narwhals and hide from us humans! O_O
ReplyDeleteUnicorns what?
ReplyDeleteBombe has been eating too much chocolate.
ReplyDeleteOr whatever Dr. Jaco Discord does.
Narwhals, narwhals, swimming in the ocean!
ReplyDeleteCausing a commotion 'Cause they are so awesome
ReplyDeleteNarwhals, Narwhals
Swimming in the ocean
Pretty big and pretty white
They beat a polar bear in a fight
This may be good for a WTF, just don't take it seriously. It's either the work of a not very good troll or someone who honestly hates happiness and joy.
ReplyDeleteOh hey! You guys finished the other thread, thaz cool. How y'all doin?
ReplyDelete@MissGoldenDragon Hey there! haven't seen you in a while, have we? We're doing fine, albeit being a bit slow lately.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, I've been put on track by starting to help with RavensDagger and his fanfiction- SALT!!
ReplyDeleteI've also finally got my music production on track, and am releasing gradual continuations of music at a steady pace. If you check my SoundCloud profile, you can see my WIPs (Work(s)-in-progress). Once done, I'm going to request artwork for them from Tetra, and then upload them to Youtube.
I'm finally fulfilling my promises that I've made. I'm helping with SALT and I'm making music. Thanks, you guys. Thank you very much. I couldn't have done it without you.
The one-year anniversary of this group is coming soon, and I hope that we will all be able to enjoy it.
@MissGoldenDragon
ReplyDeleteHey! Good to see you again! Bombe pretty much summed up how we've been doing. How have you been?
