And they're awesome.
A very nice pony named PK (whom you may know as the writer of Antipodes) saw fit to take the raw model data from the spinny Trixie by KP-ShadowSquirrel we posted some time ago and slap it into a 3D printer. He then had them painted by his friend Sirrus, and gave them to us as gifts. Let me repeat that- he has access to a 3D printer. Everypony go mob him with requests.
Actually, that's exactly what he's asked me to do: ask you guys if you'd like some of these fabulous models. PK has permission from the original creator to sell any of the existing pony models (which includes the mane six and the two alicorns, among others) and he's wondering how much you guys would be willing to pay for them. They would be similar to these (and, of course, there are more pictures behind the break). Let him know in the comments.
Anyway, be prepared for a lot of Trixie, cause that's what you're getting, whether you like it or not.
A close-up of what the texture ended up being. |
Sweet. |

Just look at that smug-flank expression. |
This is the base. Isn't it neat? |
THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE |
The funny thing is that PK had one of the Trixies painted differently. It was supposed to go to me, but he sent it to Seth by accident. Seth always gets the nice things. >:
Seth's stolen Trixie below:
SEE? |
IT'S AMAZING. |
I'm pretty sure PK did this on purpose. |
This pattern is at least 20% cooler. |
Is dat sum emails? |
Trixie cares not for your properly-exposed photographs. |

ReplyDeleteYOU!!! SHALL NOT... PASS!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose are awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteSWEET CELESTIA....
ReplyDelete...want
HOLY TARANTULAS! How awesome is this?! *mob*
ReplyDeleteOh no....so much want...you're so lucky!
ReplyDeleteim cheap and would only be willing to pay like 20 bucks.
ReplyDeleteI would pay good money for these. I'm pretty sure the material used for the printing itself doesn't cost a lot of money, but the pony-hours put in to painting them should be factored into the price.
ReplyDeleteWhat can i say, PK is just a really cool guy for doing that for you
ReplyDeletejust... awesome
ReplyDeleteWhat size is the base? is it 25mm?
ReplyDeleteOh god, that's amazing. I saw those models and thought, damn, if only I had access to a 3D printer... BUT NOW. Ohoho, but now.
ReplyDeleteWhat would I pay for one of these? Jeez, I dunno. I mean... what's reasonable? I really have no idea. Like... a million dollars? ME NO COMPREHEND MONEES.
I'd throw down $20 or $30
ReplyDeleteI would pay like 25 dollars.
ReplyDelete"PK has permission from the original creator to sell any of the existing pony models (which includes the mane six and the two alicorns, among others) and he's wondering how much you guys would be willing to pay for them."
ReplyDeleteBut does he have permission from the people who actually own the characters' likenesses--Hasbro?
Sheeeeeit, this is only the beginning.
ReplyDelete2 years from now, Seth is gonna have a life sized Trixie robot constructed by Honda in his living room.
@Lupus Albus
ReplyDeleteSNITCH
Oh, PK, you put the rest of us bronies to shame with your awesome pony models and fanfictions.
ReplyDeleteWell played, PK. Well played.
jealousy.
ReplyDelete@Neverminder
ReplyDeleteeh prints ponies and doesn't afraid of anything
Lyra + Bon-Bon. Like, them sitting on the bench all happy. Or something like that.
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome! Cant wait to see how much these cost! :D
I would pay 50 bucks for a rainbow dash
ReplyDeleteThere's all of my money, and there's all of my fucking money.
ReplyDeleteI'd pay $40 for one of these, for realz.
PK mentioned that he did this yesterday in the Antipodes google doc chat. It's so awesome.
ReplyDeleteHow much would I pay? I don't know, I'd have to see how the other's turned out. That Trixie though... wow.
heck, i'd pay $50 bucks for any pony!!
ReplyDeletehow do i contact him!?
Wow, that's pretty awesome work. I'd love to have one of those.
ReplyDeleteand that pose is perfect for trixie!
I'd probably pay like $25-30 for a nice Rainbow Dash one.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD YES.
ReplyDeleteAnything up to $60. Fuck it, Hasbro has given me NOTHING I want, yet.
$40-$50
ReplyDeleteMaybe $60 for a Celestia
All of my money! But seriously, it would be nice to know what the expenses are first. Say for an unpainted model and packaging.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'd pay 20 - 30 for the regular ponies, and around 40 for Celestia / Luna.
ReplyDeleteOh, you lucky lucky little *beep!*'s. lol
ReplyDeleteThey look great. Depending how much they were, I'd probably buy at least one. Though I probably wouldn't spend over $20-$25 for each honestly.
Though they definitely have my attention. Especially if you were to make, say... an Octavia one as well. *hint hint, nudge nudge* ;)
Yeah, I'd probably buy a few of these - one for me, a few for friends' birthdays.
ReplyDeleteI would so buy this
ReplyDeleteIts...nice...
ReplyDeleteFor a Twilight as epic as this, I'd probably pay US$50, possibly more (depending on specific details, of course... it's a little hard to tell from the pictures).
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how dollars work but I would easily pay £20 for one of them. Hopefully a Luna or Dash.
ReplyDeleteHow much would I pay? Well, after my first, fanboy-ish desire of saying "All of my money!", I took a moment to think about this seriously.
ReplyDeleteProblem: I have no clue how expensive/ inexpensive it is to make something with a 3-D printer. I don't want to toss out a number that I think is reasonable, and then be derided for offering either way too little or way too much. So, in order to avoid looking like an idiot in that regard, I'll simply settle for being a math nerd I suppose, heh.
I would pay the following: Cost of materials + cost of shipping + (if time to produce is lengthy) $5 an hour for time to print + $25 for the time and effort put into painting the model.
She and all her base are belong to us!
ReplyDelete$8 - $25 Depending on material costs.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had some clay to work with. i could so TOTALLY do this. Imma handy man! *bricked*
ReplyDeleteI has no moneys. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI'd pay $40 -50 for a Luna
ReplyDeletemfw: O.=.O
ReplyDelete10-12$ Unpainted and Unbased
ReplyDelete18-20$ Painted and Unbased
25$ Painted and Based
30$ Painted, Based, and comes with a "certificate" stating # produced and buyers name on bottom of base
I'd say $20-$30 is accessible, but i suppose it's up to the artist to decide what they're worth, not to mention production costs. Depending on the level of awesome, i could go $40.
ReplyDeleteI dont really know what to offer, $20-$30 for Fluttershy? I would love one! I'm looking around my house now for a special place of honor!
ReplyDeleteWow, I've never seen 3D printer stuff not sanded down, that texture is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe price would depend on how big it is, but I'm guessing in the range of $20-30 dollars? Probably $5-10 more for Celestia, assuming they're to scale. Of course that's not accounting for the profit markup that's so richly deserved.
Around $30 bucks, not more than $35. But really, it all depends on the cost of the materials and the workmareship on the paint job.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd pay substantially more for a Twilight Sparkle. I love that cute little nerdy pony more than life.
id pay $5-$20 usd for one of these
ReplyDelete"PK has permission from the original creator to sell any of the existing pony models (which includes the mane six and the two alicorns, among others) and he's wondering how much you guys would be willing to pay for them."
ReplyDeleteTo him I say: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
As Cave Johnson once said: When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day It thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's going to burn your house down... With the lemons! I'm going to get my engineers to make a combustible lemon, that burns your house down!!
ReplyDelete(That is all)
I'd be willing to fork out $50, and I could probably be argued a little higher for the right ponies (Rainbow Dash and Luna, specifically)
ReplyDelete$30-40 would be a good price range
ReplyDeleteThere are many types of 3d printers out there. Curious as it if it was a big proper one or one of the open source 3d printers?
ReplyDeleteI have been looking at one for models as well as afew other bits and pieces for electronics works and cant decide which 3d printer to get the kit for.
I tell ya the fans make better toy than the company!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is pretty damn awesome. But I can't even guesstimate a price before I know the bare minimum... like a) how much does the raw plastic material cost, b) how long does it take to paint, etc... is this in the $20-60 range or are we talking $100+? Also how big are they ( I can kinda tell based on the monitor/keyboard but an exact size would be nice)
ReplyDeleteNo matter what though, that is seriously cool!!!
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete$50 and shipping, $70 for fully painted cape and hat.
ReplyDeleteCould I get one unpainted and broken down to the major components (body, mane, tail, accessories)? It would be easier to paint and less fragile in shipping I imagine.
ReplyDeleteglad to see im not the only cheap one haha.
ReplyDeleteDepends. They are obviously worth more with that level of paint-man-ship on them, but I can't be the only brony here would would rather them unpainted - I've been painting miniatures since I was like 8, and would love to paint my own.
ReplyDeleteI'm willing to give Games Workshop 30 bucks for a model kit that costs maybe 2 dollars to produce, so I feel I would be cheating to offer any less.
On a side note, if you are looking into making/painting/shipping a bunch of these and are looking for a painter, send me an email. I'd be happy to send you some samples of my painting.
ALL MY BITS. ALL MY BITS FOR ONE OF THESE.
ReplyDeleteI would say: 250 dollars is an ok price (not including shipping) I would want Either Derpy hooves (with eyes like a normal pony) or Octavia playing.
ReplyDeleteThe absolute highest I'm going is fifty bucks. But getting a Woona would be so worth half a hundred!
ReplyDeleteNot entirely sure on a price point (Doesn't help that my currency is £ not $) but I'd most likely be willing to pay the price that is set. I just hope for global shipping...
ReplyDeleteAlso, could we get the cutie marks indented into the model so they are easier to paint IF it comes unpainted?
ReplyDeleteI'll take a Luna and a Celestia please! I'd pay... well heck I dunno, depends on the costs involved, but I'd definitely cover cost of material and postage, plus something for the trouble of making it.
ReplyDelete25-30$
ReplyDeleteWell i saw a Lighter today at the shopping mall today for 17 000 dollars so i guess i could buy this figure for 400? but where do i Order?
ReplyDeleteI think I've been converted to Trixism.
ReplyDeleteMaterial cost+ shipping cost+(15% of the material+shipping cost). I think this would be reasonable. I'd go up to 45% if the model is painted.
ReplyDeleteI know that painting detail is time consuming. Yet ... $40? Please pick a price and let me start giving you money.
ReplyDeletethats exciting.
ReplyDeletei dont doubt you have the permission of the guy who makes the 3d models but what about hasbro? i can see a potential problem there.
on a less serious note, I wuld definitely pay like $50 for a good derpy.
Things like this make me wish I had a decent amount of money.
ReplyDeleteI'd be willing to pay up to around $40. I expect them to be expensive. This is custom hand painted stuff. You have to take into account time, labour, materials, etc.
ReplyDeleteOh jeez. So many comments. I'm gonna try to knock them all out at once.
ReplyDelete1. It was printed in a proper, large 3D printer.
2. $20 per model will basically make me break even so hopefully I'd like to get a wee bit more.
3. I'm probably gonna put these up for ebay for auction unless someome specifically contacts me with an offer for a specific pony and I agree.
4. I can be contacted at [email protected]
Wow, she looks amazing! The model reminds me of those figures that are optional for D&D.
ReplyDeleteOh, also, hasbro really doesn't care if you're selling these or not, otherwise all those shirts wouldn't be eligible to be sold, either. Or the plushies.
ReplyDeleteActually Cereal, your Trixie looked a lot better.
ReplyDeleteDon't tell Seth!
SO AWESOME!!
ReplyDelete$25
I agree with the people saying $25 max (about £16) plus postage, but it depends on what they're made of.
ReplyDeleteEr, $20 would make be break even with just materials. Time, labor and shipping would probably add to the expense a bit. The trixies took about two days straight.
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough question. I'd like to see how it'd look if the plastic surface was smoothed before being painted. This is what I'd call a 'rough draft' version, with the texture resulting from the laser beams solidifying the substrate still clearly visible, for which I'd do $30. Now, for a finished, 'polished' version, perhaps either buffed down smooth or brushed over with a fluid polymer to fill in the texture gaps, we're talking more along the $75-$100 level.
ReplyDelete@Alondro That is what the models I would be selling would be like. We just bought a bottle of Liquid Green Stuff for this very purpose.
ReplyDeleteAlso, blanks would be probably pretty cheap, like $15 a pop.
I agree with Alondro.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, it finally happened, somepony actually used a 3D printer to print more ponies!!! This day will be remembered.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what you charge me, just PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY, GOOD SIR. ALL OF IT IF YOU MUST. This is awesome.
ReplyDelete@PK I sent you an Mail And for a Real Polished version of Derpy i would pay up to 100 Dollars, Not sure when i can do this cause i have to get a new battery to my laptop and i just bought a Gun.
ReplyDeleteI'd pay good money for such beautiful things as these :D
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it. It's like a dream. Computers bringing our favorite ponies into the real world.
ReplyDeleteOkay first off if they are all hand painted and look that good I'm estimating a price of around $250 to $350 each simply because hand painted art is unique and 3D printers are not cheap to use. Or are they? You know, I remember when the tech was new and it was super expensive have prices come down?
i'd probablt pay maybe $20-$30 for one of these.
ReplyDelete@Octavia
ReplyDelete...Planning on doing a little... hunting... 'Tavi?
Mind if I join you...?
I'm interested, but I always want the seller to throw out a number first.
ReplyDelete@PK$15 for a blank?! Now you have my attention. I would certainly buy a set of blanks and do my own custom painting. How difficult is it to create the model data? I'd love to be able to send you my own model designs and have them printed out. Isn't it great to be living in the star trek era?
ReplyDeleteIt's really easy to create model data. If any of you have models you'd like to see printed, I can do those too, probably.
ReplyDeleteI'd be willing to pay around 30-ish dollars for one of Luna. (I'd also go for one of DJ P0N-3 if there was a spinny model of her)
ReplyDeleteI'd be willing to shell out a reasonable bit for these if I had some more details on them like what they're actually made of and their sturdiness.
ReplyDeleteI could part with $50-60 for a normal sized pony and maybe a little more for Celestia or Luna. Fully painted and based of course.
I would happily pay £50 (inc shipping to the UK) for one of these.
ReplyDeleteAgain, folks- shoot me an email at [email protected] with your offer and I'll do my best to work out the details and stuff.
ReplyDeleteCould you make me a Fluttershy? Pretty please?
ReplyDeleteAs for payment, I would like to know how much they actually cost so I would know that you are being properly rewarded for this amazingness you have created. But working without that, I would probably pay up to $40 for a finished, painted model.
I'd just sell the blanks since nopony seems to be willing to pay for the effort of having them hand painted. You'd make lot more money selling in quantity. Maybe paint a few and put them up on auction.
ReplyDeleteI am throwing my 20 dollar bills at the screen! Please let them be transported and deliver me a Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie!
ReplyDeleteOn serious note, i'd pay a good 40-60 dollars (depending on like the complicatedness. Like AJ i might pay 40 while as Celestia or Luna might need 55 or 60) Then again, i'm bad at judging prices >w<
...do want...
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested in buying unpainted models, as I paint miniatures myself. Depending on the price, of course. +)
ReplyDelete$20-25 would probably hit my expectations at that point, although depending on 3D printer material expenses, I could grudgingly settle for 30-35.
To everypony: I am sooo sorry about the texture quality one these ones. I sanded them for hours and it just didn't get rid of the edges entirely. It feels smooth enough, but doesn't look it. Plus it didn't help that the Trixie model has harder to reach spots and such than, say, Lyra did. I am working on figuring out a good solution to paint/dip the models with to render them MUCH smoother. I would guestimate that the paint cycle takes about 6-8 hours parsed out. The models usually stand about 3-4 inches tall (a bit of a step up from what I'm used to as a GW painter).
ReplyDeleteNiiiiiice.
ReplyDeleteWould I want one? Yes.
Could I afford one? Heck no.
What's that bit of paper at her feet in the second model?
What's it made out of? foam? plastic? happiness? (that last one's a tad sarcastic)
ReplyDelete@ChaosDX1
ReplyDeleteThe paper is a wanted poster for Twilight Sparkle with the portrait burned out. It's from this fan-art piece that Cereal requested be used as a reference. That art also inspired the alternate skin, which is kinda hard to see in Seth's pics.
To the people trying to determine prices.
ReplyDeleteI'd pay around 40 dollars for an unpainted one, but a good paintjob is a lot harder than you think...
I would LOVE an unpainted one though. Though I'd have to do some serious filing down those ridges from the 3-D printing...
THIS IS AWESOME! * calms down *
ReplyDeleteI'd pay about $30 if they came painted. For just the prints, I'd drop $15 or $20 at the most.
I'm not a Trixie fan (I know, I know, I'm about to get burned at the stake), but that is one bad-flank sculpture.
ReplyDeleteNo idea what to tell you about buying one, cause I'm too poor for art. I'd totally love me a Fluttershy though.
$25 for a good Pinkie Pie would make me happy.
ReplyDeleteOne of these would be awesome^^
ReplyDeleteShipping to the uk would hurt though >.<
@PK
ReplyDeleteI've never painted a model in my life, but if you think you'll have all the main cast and more in dynamic poses and smoothed with "Liquid Green Stuff", I think they'd be worth $20 a pop. I'd need to see which ponies in which poses and what they should look like after smoothed with "Liquid Green Stuff". Model paint sticks well to the "Liquid Green Stuff"?
Okay, here's what I'm going to do. At some point over the next few days, there's going to be a website made so people can place orders automatically. For now, use the email.
ReplyDeleteI'd pay $20-$30 for one but the final price is up to the seller
ReplyDelete^^ Excellent plan.
ReplyDeleteWow, I have access to a 3D printer at SAIT.
ReplyDeleteBut it takes about 3 hours for it to print anything of reasonable size and I think the instructors and other students would probably get mad if I wasted all of their time and money making ponies.
i must get this to replace my wizard mini.
ReplyDeleteI'd say about $25 for one of these show-acurate beauties....
ReplyDeleteLike Celstia or Luna!!!!! Holy crap Celestia and Luna could be 3-d printed. I wouldn't care what anyone thought and order both!!
These are worth at least $20, but I might only be able to pay around $10-15 because of limited cash.
ReplyDeleteI would happily pay $30-40 + shipping to the UK (yay for being a poor student :P) And I would definately want Rainbow
ReplyDeleteHey PK, you just opened a big can of worms. =) I'm selling scupted manes and tails for the toys; once you start taking orders, you better hang on for the ride! All these ponies are CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteI'll probably be in for a few of them at some point. Not sure which characters I want yet...
I would easily justify paying $40 for one of these sculptures. But maybe $30 would be a bit on the more reasonable side.
ReplyDeletePK, SET UP SHOP! I will order at LEAST two of these at any fair price. I need myself some Twilight Sparkle and Luna statues on my desk.
Now I really wish I hadn't spent all my money on SiC.
ReplyDeleteTrixie. $20-$25, cause I'm poor.
ReplyDeleteThis is just a suggestion PK, but I believe if you made a few standard models (say, each of the mane6 standing normally) and priced them so you'd make a decent profit (which from what you're saying would be around $35 before shipping) most people would be satisfied. Of course custom posing could still be done, but then you could reasonably charge like $60 for the extra material, paint, time, etc. while still having fairly cheap "mass produced" models that the average pony would love.
ReplyDeleteI would like a Vinyl Scratch. I would rather not go over $30, but might be willing to go a little higher.
ReplyDeleteplease
ReplyDeletejust
all of my money
just take it
I'd love to see a Celestia or Luna one of these. I don't have the money to buy one, but it'd still look awesome :P
$60-$70 depending on the size. $100 tops I'd say only for one of Celestia or Luna. That's just me since I know I have the money to throw down on one of these
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think I would pay ( at most ) $30 for an elaborate figure like this, but I would pay $20 for the less elaborate figures. Other figurines of this quality are usually around these prices. The figure is very nice, but there are lots of streaks and such in it....
ReplyDeleteI would defiantly pay 20-50$ for figures of this caliber of awesome. Finally a figure that really shows off how awesome pony toys can be!
ReplyDeleteHow much do you think it would cost for withe a scratch or dash model?
ReplyDeleteI would definitely pay around 40-50$ for theese
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely. I was thinking, if it was 15-20 bucks for a pop, unpainted, unbased, WHATEVER, then a discord or victory statue would be awesome. Assuming the unpainted color is white.
ReplyDelete$25-30 is my range, but I'd buy in bulk :3
ReplyDeleteI'd spend $30 for one of these using this formula.
ReplyDelete@smokeydops
I would LOVE a Trixie like Seth's or maybe an upside-down, poison-joked Rainbow Dash.
Cereal, PLEASE post a link when the creator makes a link to a comissions page.
I'm really interested in how they aquired a 3D printer, having had one at work, I know they are no where near being cheap.
ReplyDeleteI would be willing to pay somewhere between 30 and 60 for one. And I've wanted to do some 3D printing for most of this year.
I think I'd pay about $20.
ReplyDeleteUp to maybe $50 if the texture was better, like Seth's.
Until something professional like FigurePrints picks this idea up, I'd totally be willing to go with the quality I'm seeing here. I probably wouldn't go more than $50 unless we can improve the quality (though I have a feeling that's more a feature of the printer than anything else).
ReplyDeleteDepends, are we talking painted or non painted?
ReplyDeleteBecause I'd be great with either, non painted being cheaper of course. Maybe offer both?
I'd go 25 non painted.
I'd be willing to go up to around $50 for one. But I also have quite a bit of expendable income, so that's probably why.
ReplyDeleteI would love to create an Iron Hooves army using these :D
ReplyDeleteHoly CRAP that's so cool. As for me, I'd probably be willing to pay $20, maybe $25....wait, I have a job now. I don't know how much cost/effort goes into these, honestly, so maybe $40-50?
ReplyDeleteDamn...
ReplyDeleteI'd gladly pay $40 for one... and shipping... and the cost of materials... hay, I'd pay $80+
but depending on the size, $40 seems reasonable to me
I would pay a good $30-45 for each (plus shipping and stuff of course) Maybe even more truthfully. I would definitely purchase two or three of them too
ReplyDeleteHow heavy are they?
ReplyDeleteMax I would pay is $40. Where can we email this great man?
ReplyDeleteHe's posted his email up in there. I'd definitely consider buying one of these.
ReplyDeleteI'm a cheap-o. I'd pay $10, maybe $15.
ReplyDeleteMan I would pay $50 or more for some of these! How do I get a hold of him!?
ReplyDeleteagh, damn, he did this before me :(
ReplyDeletebut hey, he actually has permission and stuff, so id pay a good amount, like $20-$30. He should sell some unpainted, this seems like something fun to do.
I would totally pay up to $50 for something like the Celestia model made by this same artist (Even unpainted. Even without a base. Though at $50, I couldn't justify buying more than maybe two models total for myself.) For me, half the fun would be making the pony MINE by painting it, spending hours on each detail, and finding or making the best base possible. I'd be most interested in Celestia and Twilight. The original, digital models are fantastic, and would be AWESOME in THREE DEES.
ReplyDelete$40-50, but I might wait and see if anyone makes 3D models of Fallout: Equestria characters. :D
ReplyDeleteIf i had some way of paying for one of....... Bleh, myself, I would. But pbbth cloyd kicjing doesnt pay well so......
ReplyDeleteBut in honesty, 25-40 dollars seems righteous. Unless they were insanely detailed, then you should go up to 75.
I'd be willing to pay $40 for one of the mane6, $50 for Trixie or one of the bg ponies, and up to $75 for the princesses
ReplyDeleteso much win...almost better than that Marcus Fenix statue...such high quality...god...just awesome
ReplyDeleteI don't have a lot of money on me... I'd love a statue of Applejack in an awesome pose, but I couldn't pay more than $30 - $40 for it.
ReplyDeleteI'd probably be around the 20-40 dollar range on these things. Fantastic job by the way.
ReplyDeleteSorry to burst your bubble but selling these actually kinda illegal. I'm pretty sure if the author starts selling these they are going to get nice little letter from Hasbro quite quickly.
ReplyDeleteI would pay between $25-$60 depending on material cost, time invested, paint job quality (from what I can see PK is an amazing painter so no worries there).
ReplyDeleteI would be willing to pay a little more if you could choose the pose that the pony is in as well.
I would probably get Fluttershy, Luna, Ditzy Doo (Derpy if you wanna be that way), Colgate, or Lyra & Bon-Bon (would pay $40-$70+ for one of those two together).
I'd pay $20 for the main cast and $25 for alicorns (assuming they're proportionately larger.)
ReplyDeletePretty cool. Sadly its not as smooth and polished looking at that Lyra figure that was on here the other day.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing. Lucky bastards. And I'd pay around twenty bucks for one. I definitely want to buy one or two, but if they're too expensive, I likely won't. Also, if they can make the texture smoother, they'll be at least 20% cooler.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I need to get one of these!!
ReplyDeleteI can see it now....
ReplyDeleteMy Little Pony: the tabletop RPG, now complete with character models.
Also @hybrid rain:
YAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
$25-$30 for a blank. If there really isn't much to it, that sounds fair for the effort of just getting them printed.
ReplyDelete>$75 for painted. If at least a couple hours are going into painting them, $75 sounds fair to me. That's low-balling the work though, that's why I'd put $75 on the low end of a painted figure price. If your hand is going into these personally, the pay should be worth your time to make them.
I want a painted Trixie figure so much! I don't even know what the other 3D's look like, but I could see me wanting another too.
I'd be all over a Fluttershy for... I'd say $25-$50. That'd just be awesome!
ReplyDeleteIf I'm honest, I think anywhere up to $50 would be very reasonable if it's painted. I'd still probably be willing to pay around $80-85, though admittedly somewhat more hesitantly.
ReplyDeletePrice would be no obstacle however, if you were selling Rainbow Dash.
now that is very cool! I would probably pay anywhere from $50-$75 for one, tho I would really like to see how others look before any final decisions
ReplyDeleteSomebody send this entire blog post in an email to Hasbro's marketing department NOW!
ReplyDeleteOh man, the thing is, you can request background ponies as easily as you can the mane 6. Stuff hasbro should (but would probably never) make.
ReplyDeleteI would lurve a Lyra and Bonbon on a park bench. The entire Pie family in party dance mode. Alfalfa monster Celestia and filly Wuna. Ditsy and Dinky at play. Heck, the mane 6 in full power Elements of harmony mode and a fearful Nightmare moon. (Or just power incontinence Twilight with glow-in-the dark eyes)
Also, DJ P0N-3 at the turntables!
ReplyDeleteAnd assassin creed Octavia.
FlutterBitch with bucket.
Pinchy face Rainbow Dash
Zecora balancing on one leg
Rapidash!Twilight
I would gladly spend 20-50 dollars on Vinyl Scratch &/or Octavia. But if neither of those models are made, I'll settle for Fluttershy. :3
ReplyDeleteLike most others have said, without knowing the cost of materials and whatnot it's hard to judge, but in all honesty I'd probably go anywhere from $30-$60, give or take. The option for a cheaper, unpainted version would be nice too, both because some of us can save a little money that way and frankly with the amount of interest this idea is getting I'd feel damn sorry for the one guy who would have to paint them all otherwise.
ReplyDeleteNo clue about 3d printing costs, but I figure the total price would be more than 100 bucks a piece, painted 'n all, for them to cover all the costs and maybe make a little buck.
ReplyDeleteI'd cough up 100 bucks for one of these badass statues
$50 dollars for a Fluttershy holding her breath.
ReplyDeletehoping to pay arround 30$ willing to go up to 80 depending on scale and material cost, really want one though, where should I contact the guys who made this? I'd like to discus prices and make the purchase as soon as possible
ReplyDeleteUltimate.
ReplyDeleteOh gods.... all my next paychecks... so going there...
ReplyDeleteI'd pay between 20 to 40$ for one of these. I'd love a Luna. And I agree about the idea of selling unpainted models.
ReplyDeleteWANT.
ReplyDeletePeople thinking niche, detailed, shipped, small-scale manufactured and hand-painted figures would sell in the range of 20 to 40 dollars?
ReplyDeleteI'd go $40 for one - at MINIMUM.
ReplyDeleteProblem is, I'm broke. Ah, well.
Seriously am wanting to buy Applejack and Luna right NOW! I'm willing to pay $20 - $40 for each one easily. Look! I have the money now! PLEAAASE put these on sale! please? Hey Seth and Cereal! Make another post once you have information on the price and such! Seriously!!
ReplyDeleteI'd pay at least $40 for one...if I had that kind of money.
ReplyDeleteI could, and would, pay around $20 for an unpainted figure. Maybe consider selling "diy" figs for cheaper than "finished" ones?
For the time and effort for this kind of work I would range it 65-100 depending on complexity of the model. This is of course in regards to time and material needed.
ReplyDeleteHow does one even get access of a 3D Printer?? I am so baffled by this @@
ReplyDeleteI want a blank one! Please D:
ReplyDeleteDO WANT
ReplyDeleteJust how big can you go?
ReplyDeleteI mean, I might pay thirty or forty for one like these, depending on pose, accessories, etc. But if you could make one a full eighteen inches, I may just have to spend $2-3 hundred for an epic-pose Luna...
I would go for a Fluttershy + CMC's for $200, at a minimum.
ReplyDeleteSince I saw this article, the 3D printing area next to my class has captured my attention and I've started the process of exporting obj pony models to .STL files for the printer and I wanted to know a bit before I get the chance to do a test print.
ReplyDeleteWhat is a recommended size for printing dimensions ("normal" sized ponies, I.e. Twilight)?
Also I would like to know just what kind of method your 3d printer uses for this since I know the one I have access to uses thermoplastic extrusion so I'm not 100% sure on what the quality would be other than some simpler assemblies and parts that have already been printed.
I'll be testing with Lyra once I find the time to set up and start a 17-hour print at my community college.
