See that Trixie? Shes so excited. 50 million of you came here just for her after all! What a showmare.
(At least that's what we tell her. She doesn't shut up otherwise.)
Great and Powerful ponies aside, thank you everyone for following the blog! EQD wouldn't be anything without it's massive community of content creating bronies to back it up. I remember way back when I first created the site, not knowing if we would even see a season two. We were all pretty worried whenever ratings would come in. That sure did end quickly though! All the ponies in this fandom are CRAZY!
I think Friendship is Magic in general is breaking new ground in terms of internet cultural phenomena. Lauren Faust and Jayson Thiessen both commented on that. The entire FiM team deserves mad props for what their creation accomplished. They very easily could have slacked off and thrown out the same toy commercial commercials that the last three generations suffered from. Instead, they went all out, and I'm sure TV studios everywhere are sitting back in amazement at what true quality can do.
And to think... It's all about colorful ponies. I doubt many of you expected to be here a year ago. I wouldn't have it any other way though!
The one year anniversary of the show is on the 10th. Hopefully we will find some time to do something cool for it. Regardless though, lets aim for 100 million! This community will take over the INTERNET at the rate we are going.

ReplyDeleteIt is truly awe-inspiring and amazing to see how this community has evolved throughout the relatively short time we've been around.
ReplyDeleteWe have definitely left our mark not only on the internet, but on sub-culture and popular culture. This phenomenon will be talked about for years to come, and it will be incredibly memorable for a wide variety of reasons.
As someone who's been part of many fandoms and still is, I'm happy to say that this is easily one of the best fandoms I've ever been a part of, with the show subconsciously (and maybe not so subconsciously) promoting positive and good values, it is clear that it has changed many for the best and shown some really positive aspects of fandoms as a whole.
There will always be neighsayers, parasprites, and haters, but we can always be better than them, not by "loving and tolerating" (although, this is recommended IRL in general to many things) but to just ignore them, enjoy what we like, not shove it into someoone's face, but not be ashamed of it either.
Bronies worldwide, we've earned this fair and square.

We just have to keep the quality of the artwork, the videos, the fan animations, the fan games, the fan fics, the writings, the meet ups, the plushies, the cakes, the custom ponies, the cosplays, the dresses, the jewelry, the shoes, the drinks, the...everything pony related and with the brand of ponies on the highest quality possible.

ReplyDeleteWhat I loved about this show was that I didn't like it straight away. I actually heard about it weeks before I gave up and tried it out. The first time I saw it, I actually turned away in disgust, and never looked back for days and weeks on end. Now, I'm here every day.

@HeroInferno I think you are way underestimating. Just look at how the page views is actually accelerating, and you will see it. Before, it took a month for 1 million to go by. Now less than a week maybe. I'm guessing 100million by new years.

ReplyDeleteI had joined EQD when we had a mere 1.2million views, we've grown unbelievably fast, brohoofs all around.
ReplyDeleteI remember back when I came in February, there was a pretty decent size group of pony fans. The show has been out since October, so it's to be expected. But things have exploded since then. Equestria Daily, when I first visited in several months ago, was fairly small and there weren't that many views or comments on articles. I'm just shocked to see what has happened. It's been really cool to witness. I guess all I can say is congratulations to you guys. Keep on doing what you do, and soon may come 100 million. (Remember when we just thought about the next million? Now, a million views on this site happens so quickly you hardly notice.)

Not that I ever feel like I have a way with words...but my love for and experience with this show and all the amazing things surrounding it is something I can barely begin to describe.
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has filled my life with hope, wonder, incomparable joy and more in what had been dark times I need not detail here. It has changed me. There was a time I would wish death or doom upon those who would speak ignorantly and hatefully towards me for my interests, but now, I go forward with optimism hoping that someday they'll get better. Maybe someday the magic can be with them. I certainly can't and shouldn't decide that they're hopeless.
My love for this creation has served as a huge source of motivation for me as well. My desire to fit more presentably into pony shirts has been in my mind almost non-stop during my recent attempts at losing weight.
Though I've barely started on my feelings for MLP:FiM I'm gonna stop where I'm at before I begin to ramble and just say, bless you all, bless all the people of talent creating wonderful things in the name of this show, and all those just watching and sharing as I have!
Man, time flies. It only feels like last month that we had just reached 1 million. Congratulations, everypony. We're officially as crazy as the ponies we crave. x3

I remember over a year ago, seeing a commercial for "The Hub". "Yeah, whatever." Being 28, single and no kids, obviously I didn't give a rat's ass about this new channel.
ReplyDeleteThe next day, a longer commercial played, with a list of the programs that would be shown. I remember seeing "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" scroll down the screen. I did a snort-laugh. "My Little Pony, oh good Lord. That had to be the worst cartoon series from the 80s." (I had no clue about the other generations) "So some chuckle-head actually made a reboot? Twenty plus years isn't enough time for MLP to get better." I laughed it off.
Sooooooooo, apparently I'm a chuckle-head for thinking MLP wasn't worth a reboot. Lauren, Jayson and all the rest of the crew that proved me wrong: can you ever forgive me? *makes big eyes and begins purring*
People at my school are starting to notice the show. It's only a matter of time before they've all watched it and become /b/ronies.

There are 106 days until EqD hits its first birthday. At the current rate of 1 million page views per 2 days, the 100M milestone will have occurred a week before then, on January 13th, 2k12.

ReplyDeleteIt makes me sad that i am simply a lurker who has contributed nothing worthwhile to the fandom at large, but being around you guys and talking about all the great fan-made content and what-not has been absolutely amazing, these ponies have taken over my life and i love every minute of it.
ReplyDeleteThis is the only show that my short attention span and good memory can tolerate watching reruns of, other than old school spongebob. I lost track of how many times I've seen each episode, but I know it's definitely more than 4 or 5 times each, and I love every second of it!
ReplyDeleteA year ago I probably would have smacked someone who told me I'd be watching (and re-watching) a show about colorful ponies. I'd have smacked them again when they told me I'd be drawing ponies, getting inspired to rap by ponies, and writing a fanfic about ponies. I think MLP:FiM and its fandom have changed my life forever, for the better. I love you guys.

ReplyDeleteIf we pretended that our hits were the population of a country (insert silly sounding nation name here, I'm going with Bronitopia), we'd be the 25th most populous nation on Earth, ahead of South Korea, and poised to pass South Africa (which has 50.5 million) with the next day or two. After that, we have a ways to go to pass Italy (approx. 60.5 million).
So, to the fellow inhabitants of Bronitopia, well done! Here's to fifty million more!

ReplyDeleteI remember thinking that it'd last for a year, but what I didn't know was that it'd already been a year, and that I was just catching on to the show.
Three months later and I've started watching episode repeats, PMVs, trying (and failing) to download the fan-made music, saving images of the fans' art, reading through the fanfics, and even writing my own.
'Confound these ponies' doesn't even have a place in my vocabulary. Yet, I sit here typing a fic while commenting on EqD, NOT doing my homework like a good brony should be.
*Sigh* I'll be back, my little ponies.

To be honest, if someone told me that I'd be in a sub-culture for the next MLP franchise I would've called them flat-out insane a year ago. Now I'm here, celebrating the fifty millionth view of a site that reports on all the greatest pony news. I visit it at least thirty times a day, and more often than not I find something that really warms my heart.
In the end, I can only say one thing...

So, I just checked some statistics on Alexia.com for shits and giggles. Apparently, in the past three months, the amount of visitors to this site has increased by a staggering 168%. Good going guys. Let's continue riding this bandwagon so hard that we increase the amount by another 168%. 100,000,000 hits by Christmas. That's my goal and you bronies have never let me down once. Make that prediction a reality. Go Equestra Daily onto victory.

Thank you Tek, Phoe, Cereal and of course king of the Bronies himself SETH for running this awesome blog. Equestria Daily is truly the bedrock of our community. I remember when I logged onto this site for the first time back on the tail end of April. The banner was Trixie hogtying Applejack (LOL)and 5 Million was coming up on us. Seems like only yesterday! *brohoof to all bronies* To the future and beyond.

Thanks Lauren, Jay and all you awesome people at Hasbro that gave them and their staff the creative freedom other most shows could only dream of!
EqD has been a HUB of inspiration and helped motivate and boost peoples confidence I their creative ventures.
You should all be proud for helping foster such a great place that brought so many people that would otherwise not have found enough confidence in their artistic or writing, musical and over all imaginative minds to share with.
So many fun events, music and videos as well as custom toys or what have you. All from an American made show no less! K haven't een so addicted to a fandom since Touhou! and that was just a curtain shooter that based it's popularity on the fans works from it's many adorable Youkai cast and resident Miko and tomboyish Witch friend!

Congrats on 50 million views! This time last year, if you told me I'd be obsessed with a My Little Pony TV show, I'd laugh you out of town. Yet here I am, checking Equestria Daily multiple times a day, eagerly anticipating new episodes, and stealthily dropping pony references in my everyday conversations.
