Unrelated question. UK brony here, just wondering how long it'll took for peeps to upload s2? Cos I can't be arsed waiting till July next year, and I don't want to have to pay for extra channels for it too :/
Seth you fiend *sob* that song *sob* why that song so much sadness so much....................................That is the saddest song ever to come out of a movie it makes all grown men cry
I cry at the song during Toy Story 2 every time, because it explains why Jessie is being the way she is, but here, I'm sorry, it just didn't hold the same effect. It is well done, the art is masterful, and I felt something, but it just wasn't the same effect. Luna was overcome with jealousy, not abandonment. Make it from Celestia's point of view, and it'll hit me.
@Risky In the mythology opening of MLP:FIM Episode 1, it shows Celestia with a pink mane. It isn't until we see her in episode 2 that she's shown to have a striped mane.
So, it was sometime after Luna's banishment that Celestia gained her striped mane we see in the show.
I sent you an E-mail about this HOURS ago Seth...it's about time! I kid I kid...But I'm sure you got lots of E-mails about this one, its so...so...damn it I'm starting to cry again!
*sniffs* Darn these ponies making me cry so so many tears. That was beautiful. See, this is why Ponies are amazing, they can do anything and make us cry...
This may not be canon according to the show, but it's a close parallel that wouldn't be out of place in the world.
Also, because we don't know how long the sisters ruled before Luna became NMM, it is possible that something like this could have happened, could have been one of the factors that lead up to the NMM incident and that, I think, is what makes this movie so effective.
Also this song... This song and Goodbye May Seem Forever from The Fox and the Hound....
damnit I almost made it through without letting a tear get through ;-; that last bit just after the return of a banished Luna and a Beaming Celestia smiling down at her sister Luna's return just broke me... downloaded that PMV it's so beautiful
@Spell Nexus Also a UK brony, if it doesn't get streamed online (which would translate to sometime around 2pm here I think) then it would definitely be uploaded to youtube within 24 hours, knowing this fandom. And I thank all in advance for such a service. So many of my favourite shows are American, and without people uploading them, I'd have to wait months to watch shows.
Regarding this pmv, it is awesome. The custom artwork makes it feel more heartfelt than using clips from the show (lol ain't enough luna for that).
That song, guys, DAT SONG. I didn't used to wear my emotions on my sleeve like this... when did I start tearing up with decade-old nostalgic catharsis at youtube videos? I think the ponies put me into a state of emotional defenselessness, because most of my thoughts were actually about the movie rather than Celestia/Luna, but the themes of growing apart and reconciling were just what were needed. Well played, Ego.
I literally built my life around not simply hiding my emotions, but doing away with them completely. Now I am sitting in my room, bawling my eyes out over cartoon ponies.
I thought it was gonna end in a similar way to what happened to Jessie in Toy Story 2: Celestia gets sick of Luna bothering her and sends her TO THE MOOOOOOON. But that would've made it funny. I preferred it this way.
I feel... there is no word to describe these profound emotions of depression and rejuvenation. I would cry, were not for my happiness, but tears of joy are blocked as well. My mind is utterly numbed by the two opposing, but equally intersecting contrasts.
I cried tears of joy. This wasn't a sad story it was a story of finding each other after parting ways. Many brothers and sisters go through this moment in their teens.
Awww, that was both rather sad and rather endearing. So sweet and excellent choice of song too. Got a bit teary-eyed watching and listening to that. :')
That was Just beautiful, i hardly every cry at videos, my manly tears have been shed, so much emotion in just a few pictures... oh god im starting to cry again. EGO, Y U MAKE ME CRY (ノಥ~ಥ)ノ
My god the song fits SO well with the story. Its extremely hard for me to cry, but that was the closest I've come in years. If I watched it a second time I think I'd break down in to manly tears.
I feel that this makes the Nightmare Moon incident a lot more intimate and hits a lot closer to home than Luna feeling feeling her night's unappreciated. It makes her seem a lot less uh ... shallow.
D'aww. Is it just me, though, or could this song be made to work just as well from Celestia's perspective as Luna's? Think about it. I think it'd pretty fitting, maybe as a companion piece.
@Chetoos I must agree. Luna decided to reject Celestia's love and start a war. I love Luna, now that she's realized her errors, but previous to that she was in the wrong.
I agree actually. I love this song and this scene from Toy Story 2 but there was something about this video that just didn't click for me. It wasn't until I read your comment that I was able to say "that is it exactly."
I still can't listen to this song without getting misty eyed, and I find it very appropriate for Luna and Celestia. While being minimalist Egophiliac is always able to express so much with these two. Good Lady, you are the best.
I previewed, but a spelling error still sneaked in, so here it is again.
Teared up watching it. Teared up again just reading the comments a day or so later without having re-watched the video. Not manly tears, not girly tears... human tears (or does that make them manly? I don't know the rules for such things).
I do think that it would fit better with the roles reversed, but I can also see why it is more obvious to do it this way, since Celestia is the "big" sister, and thus more like Jesse in that regard.
I have not seen toy story 2 since it came out a little more than ten years ago. when I heard this song, it felt familiar, I started sobbing, and I didn't know why. until I heard jesse's voice, and everything rushed back to me. then the crying started. incorporating luna only made it worse. not fair, man... not fair... T~T

ReplyDeleteManly tears were shed.
ReplyDeleteThe ending verse gave me shivers, it's so beautiful.
@Spell Nexus
ReplyDeleteDon´t worry, I expect it to be up in a week max.
Heart attack...imminent
ReplyDeleteI love this song. Beautiful drawings, beautiful music, and it just blends together so well! I like this new style of PMV!
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go buy a giant pack of tissues.
gotta hold back those manly tears
ReplyDelete@Spell Nexus
ReplyDeleteI'd give less than 24 hours for each episode, at least on YouTube.
Oh my god. I almost flooded my room with tears.
ReplyDeleteIt´s Jesse´s song from Toy Story 2. Gezus! It´s stuck in my head
Not that I didn't love the vid, absolutely heartrending
ReplyDeletewhere are princess celestia's wings on one scene?
ReplyDelete@Spell Nexus
ReplyDeleteThe first youtube uploads appear ~2 hours after airing, the good ones the next day.
*manly tears*... *many manly tears*...
ReplyDeleteY U do this egophiliac?
ReplyDeleteOh man, this video almost wrecked my -whole- day. Thankfully I was able to pick myself up after it. It's beautiful though.
ReplyDeleteThis song makes me teary eyed whenever I hear it.
ReplyDeleteEgo, Y U SO GOOD at everything you do? :D
ReplyDeleteMY HEART! It's too much for my poor heart! HURGK!
ReplyDeleteOh my god that was so perfect... Needless to say that was adorable, but someone needs to answer me a question.
ReplyDeleteWhy does every picture I see of filly/younger Princess Celestia show her with just pink hair, instead of her stripes? Is it G1-G3 continuity?
@Spell Nexus
ReplyDeleteReally? No one has made a 10 seconds flat reference yet? I am disappoint.
and many manly tears were shed that day.
ReplyDeleteI listened to 2 seconds and hit backspace immediately.
ReplyDeleteThat song made me cry, and still makes me cry, and I don't want to cry right now.
But I will say, that's quite a good choice.
Seth you fiend *sob* that song *sob* why that song so much sadness so much....................................That is the saddest song ever to come out of a movie it makes all grown men cry
ReplyDelete"When she loved me"
ReplyDeleteThat name sounds famil-
...oh.

That's it *wipes tear* I want an episode focusing on Celestia and Luna in season 2.
ReplyDelete@Risky
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it shows her hair pink because of the still images shown of her and Luna in the first episode.
I sent you an E-mail about this HOURS ago Seth...it's about time! I kid I kid...But I'm sure you got lots of E-mails about this one, its so...so...damn it I'm starting to cry again!
ReplyDeleteMust...Not...*cries* It's too Beautiful
ReplyDeleteManly tears have been shed.
ReplyDeleteManly tears were shed.
ReplyDeletewhy you make me cry? why!?
ReplyDelete:')
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I can watch stuff like this at home alone so no one can see me bawling like a foal over cartoon ponies.
ReplyDeleteDammit, I used to be so good at hiding emotions, what the hell happened?
Beautiful. Original content, inspiration, skills, emotions, ponies and Luna.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell could I ask for!?
Im not sure im going to be able to watch this, this song depresses me oh so much. I don't need to assosiate it with Luna.
ReplyDelete*sob* *sniff* beautiful.
ReplyDelete*sniffs* Darn these ponies making me cry so so many tears. That was beautiful. See, this is why Ponies are amazing, they can do anything and make us cry...
ReplyDeleteOw. 1:38-2:12 hurt.

Daggers in the heart.
Thanks Ego.
Absolutely stunning. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteEPIC DAWWW TIME!!!
ReplyDeleteD-d-d-diabeetus
ReplyDeleteoh god have mercy (ノಥ~ಥ)ノ
Well played. Well played indeed.
ReplyDeletedawww Luna
ReplyDeleteConfound these Ponys! They drive me to feel emotions! *sniff*
My heart almost broke...
ReplyDeleteI flooded my monitor with Chuck Norris tears.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, i could have an cure for cancer if it wasn't because i couldn't get 'em in something.
Oh, my. Jesse's Song. I just... I can't...
ReplyDeleteB'AAAAAAWWWW!!!!
Manly tears were shed.
...I swear, everything I look at on youtube before, ends up here. it's strange. I actually did shed a tear this time.. it was sad..
ReplyDelete...No words can describe the misery that fills my soul.
ReplyDeleteConfound these ponies, they drive me to feel...
ReplyDeletedamnit I almost made it through without letting a tear get through ;-; that last bit just after the return of a banished Luna and a Beaming Celestia smiling down at her sister Luna's return just broke me... downloaded that PMV it's so beautiful
ReplyDeleteThat was beautiful. I'm unafraid to say that I literally got teary-eyed watching this. PONIES WHY DO I CARE FOR YOU SO?!
ReplyDelete@Spell Nexus

I've long suspected it, but this has finally convinced me without a shadow of a doubt:
ReplyDeleteEgo is an evil mastermind bent on killing us all.
Time and again we've survived the waves of diabetes and heart attacks caused by her comics, so she has finally brought out the big guns.
But you'll never take me down, Ego. Never!
(and by all that, I mean this was freaking beautiful)
I can't watch this. It's just too heart-renchingly, perfect tear-producing...
ReplyDelete@Spell Nexus I'm planning on uploading each episode the day they air.
ReplyDeleteToy Story 2's saddest song, plus Luna and Celestia. I'm about to cry manly tears over here
ReplyDeleteThat song, guys, DAT SONG. I didn't used to wear my emotions on my sleeve like this... when did I start tearing up with decade-old nostalgic catharsis at youtube videos? ReplyDelete@1aed7cf4-d98e-11e0-bed8-000bcdcb2996
ReplyDeleteI was just realizing how easily Ego could just have us all completely at her mercy whenever she wanted.
Kind of scary, when you think about it.
Why must Luna be so adorable?!
ReplyDeleteI do this without shame:
ReplyDeleteD'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaaaawwww *sob*
Goddesses... just makes you think and relate to that one moment in the second episode when they meet up again. So much D'AWW and B'AWW here...
ReplyDeleteI thought it was gonna end in a similar way to what happened to Jessie in Toy Story 2: Celestia gets sick of Luna bothering her and sends her TO THE MOOOOOOON.
ReplyDeleteBut that would've made it funny. I preferred it this way.
Combinging Luna, Celestia. This Song.
ReplyDeleteDone by Ego.
....
-CRIES FOREVER-
Not a dry eye in the house. I B'AAAWWWW'd.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's it. I am 100% tears now ;_;
ReplyDelete@Freekles1245
ReplyDeleteI felt sader for Luna in this than i did jesse in toy story XD
epic video, i was worried it'd be one of those super sad videos. yay happy ending!
I feel... there is no word to describe these profound emotions of depression and rejuvenation. I would cry, were not for my happiness, but tears of joy are blocked as well. My mind is utterly numbed by the two opposing, but equally intersecting contrasts.
ReplyDelete*pulls head out from under pillow* is it over yet? its too sad.
ReplyDeleteI cried tears of joy. This wasn't a sad story it was a story of finding each other after parting ways. Many brothers and sisters go through this moment in their teens.
ReplyDeleteWiddle woona! She's so very adorable. <3
ReplyDeleteAwww, that was both rather sad and rather endearing. So sweet and excellent choice of song too. Got a bit teary-eyed watching and listening to that. :')
Damn it! I've seen people murdered and this, somehow makes me cry!
ReplyDelete*sob*
It's beautiful!

Stop making me feel my feelings! It's too much!
ReplyDeleteI managed to get through this and only shed one manly tear... I am proud of myself.
ReplyDeleteD'awwww
ReplyDeleteI mean...uhh...MONSTER TRUCKS GUNS BEER WIMMIN GRRRRR.
My god the song fits SO well with the story. Its extremely hard for me to cry, but that was the closest I've come in years. If I watched it a second time I think I'd break down in to manly tears.

ReplyDeleteI know I'm gonna cry, let's just see how long it takes. Ok, there's baby Luna, a-- Oh God she just looked up. *bam, cry*
EMOTIONS BE DAMNED!
ReplyDeleteWoah...shivers just went down my spine
ReplyDeleteD'aww.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, though, or could this song be made to work just as well from Celestia's perspective as Luna's? Think about it. I think it'd pretty fitting, maybe as a companion piece.

ReplyDeleteI must agree. Luna decided to reject Celestia's love and start a war. I love Luna, now that she's realized her errors, but previous to that she was in the wrong.
DAMNIT, I'm not crying, I just poked myself in the eye before I watched it...
ReplyDeleteOk, I lied, I tear'd up a little...
And I thought WALL-E and the ending of the Dark Materials Trilogy were the only things that could bring me to feel these... human emotions.
i cried.
ReplyDeletevery good work
Omg...must...make fanart. DX SO sadd. I love both Toy Story and this. DX
ReplyDeleteMy body. It was not ready for this much d'awww
ReplyDeleteawwwwwwwwwesome! =D
ReplyDelete@Chetoos
ReplyDeleteI agree actually. I love this song and this scene from Toy Story 2 but there was something about this video that just didn't click for me. It wasn't until I read your comment that I was able to say "that is it exactly."
*Watches first 20 seconds of video, decides to just start crying right away so as to avoid the rush.*
ReplyDelete*Teary smile*
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :)
T_T waaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDelete*clap clap clap* Bravo! *sniffle* Bravo! A truly emotional video.
ReplyDelete...did not need to see this today. Not every story like this has a happy ending. ;_;
ReplyDeleteBut at least Celestia and Luna's does. : )
Both manly and pony tears were shed.
ReplyDeleteI need more buckets
ReplyDeleteI still can't listen to this song without getting misty eyed, and I find it very appropriate for Luna and Celestia. While being minimalist Egophiliac is always able to express so much with these two. Good Lady, you are the best.
ReplyDeleteI D'awwwd at the artistic style.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I recognized the song, manly tears began flowing. Very fitting for Luna, certainly.
ReplyDeleteConfound these ponies, they make me feel this sadness! I love this video
ReplyDeleteConfound it Seth - I can't see the screen through my tears. Such a perfect fit and wonderful images!
ReplyDeleteThis is why I always try to be kind to Luna in my stories.
ReplyDeleteThat was sooooooooooo cute, and sad, and Jessie's song fits darn well, and yay happy ending, and... D'aaaawwwww
ReplyDelete:'D
:') Beautiful...
ReplyDeleteBravo...such universally evocative emotions. My hat is off to you. Keep up all the good work you do.
ReplyDeleteNo. Just... no. Couldn't take it. Beautiful, of course, but no, I'm not putting myself through that.

ReplyDeleteWhy are kid's movies so friggen sad? Casing point Toy Story 1, 2 and 3
ReplyDelete3'= *manly sob*

ReplyDeleteFirst "Memories: A Rainbow Dash Tail," with the Up! Opening, and now this?
ReplyDeleteWhelp, it's official. Pixar + Ponies = SADNESS EVERYWHERE!
And on that day, many manly tears were shed.
