It looks like they actually mention a season three of FiM if you dig a bit. I'm pretty sure all the music for Season two is complete at this point (Don't quote me on that), so I supposed it would be inevitable that they would be looking toward the tracks for the third.
You can find the article here.
And the quote from it:
And if you’ve ever wondered what an opera singer might do in her time off stage, Chan-Kent has an interesting sideline; she’s an voice-over actress, going into her third season with the animated My Little Pony television series. “I do Silverspoon, the little sister pony, and I do all of the singing for Pinky Pie...”Thanks to everyone that pointed it out! I tend to miss things when I'm in email grind mode.
There's a nice little ponychan thread about it going on at

ReplyDeleteAwesome. :D
ReplyDeleteDo we even need more pony even before more pony has been released?
ReplyDelete...HECK YES WE DO!
Pinkie Pie is the best Pony on the show.
ReplyDeleteYES! :-D
ReplyDeleteWasn't this inevitable anyways? :P
ReplyDeleteThree times as much pony as we already have!

ReplyDeleteThis is how bored we are, season 2 close as hell, and we harping on the slightest things for a season 3 ray of hope.
ReplyDeletePONIES
ReplyDeleteEVEN MOAR PONIES
NEVER STOP PONIES
I hope this goes FOREVERRRR
ReplyDelete“I do Silverspoon, the little sister pony"
ReplyDeleteWho is her sister and why do I care about that classist prick?
Omggggg, I hope that's not a typo in the article!
ReplyDeleteIf it's not...WOOOOOOOTTTTT!!!! :DD
(Removed because I had a typo in my comment, lol)
Wait...Who is this Silverspoon "little sister pony?" Did she just name one of Pinkie's sisters?
ReplyDeleteI'll believe it when I hear it from a more reliable source. Newspapers get that kind of thing wrong all the time. She probably just said "I'm doing another season of MLP" and they were like, "Let's see, how long has that been on already? Two years, right?"
ReplyDeleteHasbro is all about getting results, I do not think they would greenlight a third season this early when they don't know the results (ie, will the toys keep selling?)
If there truly is a Season 3, I'm going to apply at DHX Media. Then again, even if there isn't, I'd probably do that anyways because I just want to animate on a fun cartoon series if possible.
ReplyDeleteI figured this was going to get emphasized more. lol
ReplyDeleteGuess everyone will just have to wait and see!
Really guys? Maybe it's just a typo from the guys who wrote the article. I know an animated show needs a while in pre-production to get done, but I doubt Hasbro will invest more money without checking the results for season 2.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, Season 2 hasn't even started yet and we are already going ga-ga for season 3? We need Season 2 already, or else this will be like a desert island without smoke monster.
I'm not angry or anything, I just try to keep my hooves on the ground, if you know what I mean.
@Raefire
ReplyDeleteI think Silver Spoon is Diamond Tiara's friend.
YES
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, James Corck does got a point.
ReplyDeleteAND THE CROWD GOES WILD!!!
ReplyDeleteThis definitely would be the time when they would want to be ramping up for third season; you can never have too much lead time.
ReplyDeletemight be a typo, dont get your hope up.
ReplyDeleteWAHAHA
ReplyDeleteWould be nice, but could just be a typo. We need better confirmation.
ReplyDeleteWait wait wait wait wait wait.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Bitch! and Singing Pinkie Pie are both done by Shannon Chan-Kent?
*checks Wikipedia*
...
Good god, my mind is blown.
@Buster
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, you're right...
And now I hope they get Ellen McLain to guest on the show, so we can have dueling Opera ponies!
Season 2 hasn't even STARTED yet, and you all are talking abotu Season 3?
ReplyDeleteWow.
Omg...I'm not even sure if my body is ready for S2, and now S3 pops up?!
ReplyDeleteSeth, you ARE going to die XD So far you only had to deal with the craze during the season and the craze while we were waiting for the next season.
Now you have to deal with both.
This is good of course, but it also means we'll have to endure another pony drought next year. :/
ReplyDeleteDude, they didn't even spell Pinkie Pie right and we're using them as a source to claim season 3 is coming?
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell, guys?!
@Brian Johnson
ReplyDelete@Raefire
I don't think Silver Spoon has a sister. I'd say she's either mistaken or is possibly referring to two different characters there and she just forgot the other name.
probably been said already but,
ReplyDeleteYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES!!!
...because it wasn't hard enough to wait mere days for season two, we now also have a year plus wait for season 3?
ReplyDeleteYou're trolling us, admit it!!
(I do hope there is a season 3 already green lighted though!)
I think one more season would be good...
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteOoohh, this looks exciting. It could be real or it could be a typo. The author did use the phrase "an voice-over"
ReplyDeleteLet's look at what we'll have in just 1 more week; season 2
ok..if we didnt need a time machine to get to season 2 sooner..we now need one to verify season 3
ReplyDeleteBut first we just need to wait for the second season lol but really that's great news.
ReplyDeleteSeason 2 my body is ready for. Season 3 however? IT IS MADNESS! MY BODY IS NOT READY!
ReplyDelete...I have a nasty feeling in my gut that it's not going to last past three seasons... but I'll be happy if it goes for 5 or 6. Any more and the quality'll slip...
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteYou've got to be kidding me!!
ReplyDelete"she’s an voice-over actress, going into her third season with the animated My Little Pony television series."
ReplyDeleteUhm... Maybe I got it totally wrong since English isn't my mother tongue, but from the structure of the sentence the "third season" seems to belong to voice actress herself, not to the MlP part. Like... It's going to be her third role as a voice actor or something along these lines. Or actually her third year as a V.A..
Hm, dunno...
@Fritz X
ReplyDeleteThat's entirely possible, and probably the more likely scenario.
For sure, the entire quoted passage is poorly written.
Ehhh, I'm going for typo.
ReplyDeleteILL BE DARNED, A THIRD SEASON IS ALREADY PLANNED...
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to add, it's possible Ms. Chan-Kent did voice work on the tail end of G3, in which case Season 2 of G4 could be her third year of pony voice work.
ReplyDeleteUggh, no edit button...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is all speculation. It's obvious that the article wasn't written too well and it's very likely that it was a screw-up. Just because one person says "season 3" doesn't mean you should all get too excited and flip out about it.
Unless she was a singer with the G3 show and they are referring to that.

ReplyDeleteI sure hope Hasbro never pulls a Valve(Everyone knows Valve can't cout to 3), but it's way too early for me to accept this as reliable.
ReplyDeleteI hope there is a season 3, but I'm content waiting to hear about it until season 2 is at least half released
Not believing until an official word comes out. I was burned once believing and article that said that James Avery would be voicing Silverbolt in Transformers 3 and that character wasn't in the fucking movie.
ReplyDeleteNot a big surprise that we're getting a season 3 if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteWell... This isn't really a big surprise...
ReplyDeleteBecause of the way the show is produced, they have to start each season while the precious one is being aired, which means that they probably already have an agreement with Hasbro to show Season 3. The only reason they would cancel it is if it got really low ratings and they got rid of it for a higher-rated show, but that's extremely unlikely, considering that My Little Pony is one of the 3 highest-rated shows on the network. (the other 2 being Family Game Night and Gem and the Holograms)
Legitimate or not (I'm personally guessing the latter). I do believe it goes without saying that there is going to be at least 3 seasons given its success. And I'm rather doubtful that quality will take a hit by season 3. Anything beyond that however I feel would be guess work.
ReplyDeleteRegardless I think I can wait on S3 news with the approaching premiere of S2 scant days away.
Cue king Arthur "JEEEESUS CHRIST!"
ReplyDeleteWhile it's possible they finished all the writing for season two, it's unlikely they're already jumping on writing and voicing season three.
ReplyDeleteIf anything, it's either a typo, since that would be something the actors can't reveal yet, or she was given a guarantee that if they do a third season, she'll still have a job with them.
If anything is being done for season three already, they're tossing around ideas to make a pitch to the execs to get the go-ahead to put it into production. Nothing's been said so far that they were given permission to go ahead for more than one new season.
Although, the second season was pretty much kept in the dark till they had already started on it, with leaks dropped by the staff/actors.
Sounds about right. Voices, animation, other stuff, profit. :)
ReplyDeleteSeth, it probably is just the third My Little Pony series she worked on. It existed before Friendship is Magic you know...
ReplyDeletePretty sure this is a typo. I highly doubt they'd be confirming a Season 3 this early, considering Season 2 hasn't even started airing yet. We were well into Season 1 before there was any confirmation for Season 2.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I checked IMDB and didn't see Shannon Chan-Kent credited for any work on the previous MLP show.
ReplyDeleteYou know, whether or not this means there's a season 3, I think you all missed a finer point here.
ReplyDeleteSilver Spoon is a little sister? Does this mean that Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are actually sisters in Canon?
I wonder if Ellen Mclain is going to be in it as well.
ReplyDeleteI will re-iterate my point from earlier, making it obvious what we should be hyped about.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing we should care for in this article is the fact that Pinkie Pie's singing voice is an Opera Singer. I really hope they make good use of that in season 2, now that the songs are already recorded I can't wait to hear those.
So does this mean Pinkie's gonna belt out some Opera?
ReplyDeleteI made this comment in the nightly roundup, and I'll repeat it again here:
ReplyDeleteGuys, guys. You're letting your pony-love get the better of you.
Look at the title of the Article: Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra Launches Ninth Season
OMG does that mean Ninth season of PONY OMG?!?!?
Seriously, other things have 'seasons' too. The article mentions that Chan-Kent just started her career as an opera singer.
"Chan-Kent has an interesting sideline; she’s an voice-over actress, going into her third season with the animated My Little Pony television series."
Does it say third season 'OF' MLP? No. Read it this way: "going into her third season(as an opera singer) with the animated..."
Makes more sense. Sorry to be a big meany-mean pants party pooper, but don't blow it out of proportion.
That's just they way I see it. If it is, in fact, talking about season 3 of MLP, then that's awesome, but I don't think it is, at least from the way its worded. Let's get more confirmation before we go flip our lids. Seriously. Someone go get more confirmation, so I can flip out.
@Jimperz
ReplyDeleteNo, it means Pinkie Pie's gonna opera-te.
@Kahrn
ReplyDelete'Does it say third season 'OF' MLP? No. Read it this way: "going into her third season(as an opera singer) with the animated..."'
Or she's 'going into her third season of voice-acting (period)', since that was the occupation under discussion in the sentence.
@ladymoondancer
ReplyDeleteBuy ALL the toys!
I'm going to go to the source and ask the official My Little Pony Facebook page what they think of this.
ReplyDeleteI hope this is true, a third season on it's way before the 2nd is even out...that would be amazing.
ReplyDeleteSilverspoon. Relative. OH GOSH FREAK YEAH!
ReplyDeleteThird Season? ASDFASDF DOUBLE THE FREAK YEAH
Balloons in the opening image? GOOD GRAVY SETH, YOU KNOW ME TOO WELL <3
Even though it's quite possible that this is a mistake, it's still some big news for everypony who's anxiously waiting for season two. Anything that means 'more pony' is certainly to cause an uproar, wether it is real news or just a typo.
ReplyDeletewell of course there's going to be a season 3. why quit such a good thing?
ReplyDeleteI read this on Derpy Hooves, and one thing mentioned there is that since there are so many other typos in the article, "season three" may refer to anything, so we might want to take this with a grain of salt. I mean, this isn't an official announcement, and why would Hasbro allow this information to be released from such a secondary source?
ReplyDeleteDH:http://www.derpyhoovescentral.com/2011/09/confusing-article-sparks-rumor.html
Yay, hopefully the show doesn't go downhill by 2nd/3rd season :)
ReplyDeleteSeth it's best to confirm things like this first before posting them it's gotten you some flak in the past for not taking that step.
ReplyDelete@Luna
ReplyDeleteAh, yeah, that's what I meant ><
Either way, I don't think it's referring to a season of FiM. Could be, but not clear enough to be sure.
Season 3?
ReplyDeleteMy life... Is complete!
>she’s an voice-over actress
ReplyDelete>an voice-over
>an
Season 3?
ReplyDeleteAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.
Theater seasons run different than television seasons. Since this is an opera publication, they probably mean the third season as Fall 2011.
ReplyDeleteYes another year of ponies
ReplyDeleteIf this is true and not a typo in the article, I'm to giddy to sleep tonight. I feel certain that a third season will eventually come anyway, though, regardless of it all. Either way, HOLY SHIT PONIES YES
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid it's a typo...
ReplyDeleteI remember a previous post over here that made mention of a third season...

ReplyDeleteI was in the Bronyville livestream chat a few hours ago, and he said season 3 is a go!!
ReplyDelete@scaryice
ReplyDeleteHim! Who? [cit.]
@NikeXTC
ReplyDeleteThe guy who was hosting the stream and doing the marathon later today. Never watched it before, so I don't know his name. Has a mustache.
@scaryice
ReplyDeleteAnd how does he know?
@NotAGoodUsername360
ReplyDelete*40 years from now* We've just gotten confirmation that Season 43 of MLP:FiM will feature yet another trilogy of Doctor Whooves, who has become so popular that he was elected President of the Empire of Belgium by write-in vote.
;D
@colt classic
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Hasbro execs are looking at the brony phenomenon and salivating at an audience that is rabidly obsessed with the show and willing fork out $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for anything pony-related. I wouldn't put it past their devious little capitalist minds to drop little hints here and there frequently just to drive hype to rabid levels! I mean, it's what I'd do. *is an evil Capitalist pig!* Oink oink! >:D
@Kham_The_Huggable_Zombie
ReplyDeletetestified.
I am really hoping they show more Luna.
ReplyDeleteI was sad after watching to whole 2 seasons and then finding out that the 3rd season wasn't out.
ReplyDeleteMaybe in like season 17 the Cutie Mark Crusaders might just achieve their goals! lolz
