Derpy Hooves hogging your pillows?! Too bad! This is completely unrelated!
The guy with one of the higher view count Season two Episode one episode uploads on Youtube sent me some statistics for you all to dig through.
Check them out after the break.
He also released a combo video of both episode one and two, find that here.

Statistics, oh joy!
ReplyDeletesecond
ReplyDeleteyay. Too bad we never got to #1 top favorited.
ReplyDelete65 year old viewers!?
ReplyDeleteWhy can't I see this if I click the non fanfiction button?
ReplyDelete@wackyteen
ReplyDeleteAt least we made it to #2 for a while.
1) Awesome stuff! Always fun to take a look at stuff like this and the current poll on the right hand margin (over half of the people who voted joined the fanbase after season one was done! I think that explain the complete lack of the feared drought.)
ReplyDelete2) Congrats, the post image is the first one that actually made me squee out loud. I want to go turn off the light for her so she can sleep better!
Awww, Derpy sleeping in my bed would be so cute, I simply wouldn't mind her hogging the pillows and blankets. <3
ReplyDeleteThose stats are almost just what I would expect though. I thought the 18-24 age range would have been closer to the 13-17 age range, if not had beaten it all together. But that's still cool. Also, graph spikes.
hope hasbro would hurry up and release a game for this show, 100k+ sales doesnt sound bad, does it?
ReplyDeletederpy can hog your pillow, i'd prefer ditzy doo to hug mine

ReplyDeleteStatistic. I've read several books on the subject.
ReplyDeleteY'know, I had a feeling most bronies were under 18. At least, bronies watching that episode.
ReplyDeleteI'm twenty years old myself, but from a lot of the comments I've read, kinda got that impression.
Thanks for showing the stats!
surprised to see that 13-17 overwhelmed others, since I'm 20 here.
ReplyDelete@Lunasta, the magical wakeup pill
ReplyDeleteWow, the oldest I've come across is 39 (my boss watches with his sons). I'm 34, but the statistics in this house are skewed by my daughter, who is five. So, we're statistically 19 1/2. :)
Well, now Hasbro has a slightly better knowledge of its viewing audience
ReplyDeleteI'd caution reading too much into the age numbers. I would imagine that those numbers come only from those who have registered an account with YouTube. I for one view a lot of stuff, but since I never feel compelled to leave a comment on the threads there, and I don't upload stuff, I don't have an account. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the older viewers that are shown are from kids using their parents computers, which may have their parent's account log in, thus skewing the demographics.
ReplyDeletePlease bear in mind everypony that these sats are for Youtube, and are not entirely conclusive. I am one of many who watches MLP FiM through the wonderful device known as DVR, not to mention the many legions who actually manage to watch the show as it airs on the Hub.
ReplyDeleteI'm not bad mouthing Youtube, I'm only saying it's just one side of the venues that Bronies can enjoy the show.
Thanks, guy who did this. 66-34 male/female split is more skewed than I actually would have predicted, although I wonder whether there are more casual female fans who might show up in the next couple of weeks. Looks like the show may be breaking out among the high school demographic, which coincides with several posts I've seen suggesting rapid pony viral spread now that school is back in session. I do wonder whether the show will spread much further among the older demographics, since most people outside the small fraction who use a video game or anime forum will never be exposed.
ReplyDeleteBedhogging's a small price to pay for Derpy in your bed. Also, this doesn't quite serve as an accurate representation of brony age groups. A lot of people just watched the episode on a live stream, or haven't seen it yet. I've always gotten the sense that college-aged guys held the majority.
ReplyDeleteIt is a little biased though, Youtube doesn't let anyone under the age of 13 register so any views by them don't count.
ReplyDeleteNow we wait for Season 2 Episode 3. Or atleast a version of Season 2 Episode 2 that allows us to hear the credits music...
This is interesting however. It keeps saying that the widest group of people watching are males, meaning there must be more bronies than pegasisters out there.
ReplyDeleteBut this is YouTube, the stats are not 100% accurate.
@Laurence BrownOr they could have simply entered some arbitrary date as their birthdate.
ReplyDeleteGreat! I was planning to rewatch those episodes! Putting them together made that convenient!
ReplyDeleteAnd is it wrong that I loved Ponyville when it was "The Chaos Capital of the World"?
I wish youtube would list unregistered views as well.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't really expecting to see so many people over the age of 50. I guess some of them could be parents letting their kids use their accounts or fake ages on the account but a lot of them are probably just there to figure out why all the young people are big into ponies right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm pushing 40 and I became a fan after pulling up videos of the show to entertain my 4 year old niece. So really, it's very hard to tell exactly what is going on with those older demographics, although I suspect many of them are adult/child combo views.
ReplyDeleteNot news to us...
ReplyDeleteIt's basically what I expected. Most little girls are going to be watching it on TV, so this isn't an accurate overview. The unregistered users and ones that lie about their age skew the statistics too.
ReplyDeleteThe hot spot thing is pretty interesting. Looks like everyone leaves after the first few minutes or watches the entire episode. Around of them half of them skip the ending credits.
Finnish and Swedish bronies and pegasises rack up as much or even more views than countries with ten times the population. Scandimaneia, anyone?
ReplyDelete/horriblepun
Finland in top 10. Ooooh...
ReplyDeleteIt makes sense. After all, most of the intended audience watches the show on TV.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see what the first-run TV ratings were like for the first two episodes. I'd like to think we broke some Hub records these past two weekends.
ReplyDeleteMan, a lot of these real-life pony superimpositions imply that all the ponies are small enough to hold in your arms. o-o
ReplyDelete...:D Awwww
That Derpy! I swear EqD is bad for my health. Last night it was filly Dash, and then I get on this morning to find sleeping Derpy.
ReplyDeleteOhh Good, South Africa is on the map!
ReplyDeleteAlso New Zealand...
That 13-17 range is so much larger than it was during the first season when episodes were airing. Then it was actually 18-30 year old males watching the show, not middle and high school kids on summer break.
ReplyDeleteShame really.
Derpy was having fun with them Sennheisers!
ReplyDeleteI would take Youtube numbers with a grain of salt, there's no way to compare to how much they differ from the demographics of people who watch the episode live or by download.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely note that YouTube demographics are just that: YouTube demographics. They in no way represent the viewers of the show as a whole. However, there are interesting results there regardless. And yes, Derpy is adorable on my bed. :D
ReplyDeleteSo... Much... Discord...

ReplyDelete@Lunasta, the magical wakeup pill
ReplyDelete65? that's just silly...
I'm 69.
@Lunasta, the magical wakeup pill
ReplyDeleteHey, I’m almost fifty, and most of my friends are in their late thirties or forties. Friendship knows no age limit; that’s one of the things that makes it magic.
Heeeey. What happened?
ReplyDeleteI recall when the top, ruling demographic group for FiM episodes was 18-24, and 25-34 at some places.
How come the 13-17 group has taken over the first place by so much?
Hmmm...
I reckon ponies have become trendy and cool and hip and all the kids are doin' it.
Meh. Not sure if I'm ok with this. All this adult content being watched by kids. What has the world become?
Mexican bronies!
ReplyDeleteWe are the first non-English-speaking country in the stats.
(Now I understand why the pony toys are just flying away in Macdonalds.)
@The Nachoman
ReplyDeleteWhere are you from? maybe we could meet (you are the first mexican brony I know of aside from me)
Male 18-24 as the oldest seems to be the norm on various user's upload of the same episode of part 1 or 2, but XyroTR1's has has male 25-34 & GlowSpark93 has Male 45-54.
ReplyDelete@Lofren
ReplyDeleteFrom Cancun. If you are from here, I go to The Serious Games every Tuesday evening.
