ReplyDeleteI was whining about this a couple times during the mare-o-thon... I knew then Hasbro totally trolled us when they decided to leave the last two episodes of S1 to be the opener for s2 because they saw how epic this 2 parter was.

I've been seeing a lot of people around here saying they hate the original theme song, so I have to ask. Is there anypony else who likes the theme we have?

Good to know it's still coming, but I don't see why it'd be so hard to edit in the new intro with an episode made long ago. It's SEASON 2 and I'm still cautious about newcomers first hearing "My Little Pony~, My Little Pony~, aaaaaAhhhhhAhhhhhAHHHHH..." I want those first few lyrics banished to the moon FOREVER!

ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I've got some bad news, boys. If TV Guide is correct, October 1 will see a repeat of Return Of Harmony in the 9am EDT/6am PDT & 9:30/6:30 slots. So we might not get another episode until the week after.

Bronies, why are we getting so hysterical over this? I though he said (paraphrasing) that the changes to the intro were going to be relatively minor. Did I miss something?
ReplyDeleteI personally don't mind the current theme as it is. It's a tad cheesy and girly, with that obvious reference to the original, but this /is/ My Little Pony we're watching here...
I thought it was something like that. Wasn't The Return of the Elements originally going to be in Season 1?
ReplyDeleteNow, it will feel as if I am waiting for season 2 again every week. At least that's how I feel now. I have never looked forward to the weekends as much as I do now.

ReplyDeleteIt makes complete sense, seeing as the first two episodes were made before Dan redid the song. Then again, it was completely possible for them to edit-in the new opening over the old.

ReplyDeleteEpisode 1 of Season 2 was always meant to be Episode 1 of Season 2. I can't believe people are STILL saying the contrary, especially after Jayson debunked that theory in the recent interview.
They worked on it at the same time as the Season 1 episodes so that they could have the same animators and staff on the team, to make the transition smoother between seasons.

I figured that would be the case, since the first two episodes were part of season one as far as production goes.

ReplyDeleteMakes sense. The first two episodes are still by Lauren Faust, thus use the same intro. The rest of the season is by a different producer, therefore, the new intro.

@BronyDude: Probably. After all, if Luna was going to appear in the Discord story, she'd have been right there beside Celestia briefing the team, especially considering how many times Luna was mentioned in the exposition.

I was just assuming that one of the (apparently minor) changes in the new opening was going to be something related to Discord, and that we'd get the new opening after he was defeated.

The song is remastered, not remixed. It will still be the same theme, just a bit enhanced.
