Looks like we get to wait a bit on the remastered opening that Daniel Ingram talked about a few months back. I'm definitely looking forward to it! Hopefully they give us the full theme some time in the future too!
I was whining about this a couple times during the mare-o-thon... I knew then Hasbro totally trolled us when they decided to leave the last two episodes of S1 to be the opener for s2 because they saw how epic this 2 parter was.
DAMNIT! have to wait 7 more days to finish s1 and 14 more to see the real first episode of s2! *cries*
I've been seeing a lot of people around here saying they hate the original theme song, so I have to ask. Is there anypony else who likes the theme we have?
Still, I'm excited to hear the new one and see the new opening. Should be very interesting.
Good to know it's still coming, but I don't see why it'd be so hard to edit in the new intro with an episode made long ago. It's SEASON 2 and I'm still cautious about newcomers first hearing "My Little Pony~, My Little Pony~, aaaaaAhhhhhAhhhhhAHHHHH..." I want those first few lyrics banished to the moon FOREVER!
@NDupree93 I love the theme song as is. Never really found any fault with it, which is probably good considering how many times I've captioned it to this point.
I was wondering about that. I noticed right off the bat it wasn't any different and figured because episode 1 and 2 were done during season 1 being released that that would be the case...
This is probably going to sound dumb of me, but does this also mean we have a new intro? I mean, its basically the same song just a tiny bit different.
I'm afraid I've got some bad news, boys. If TV Guide is correct, October 1 will see a repeat of Return Of Harmony in the 9am EDT/6am PDT & 9:30/6:30 slots. So we might not get another episode until the week after.
Bronies, why are we getting so hysterical over this? I though he said (paraphrasing) that the changes to the intro were going to be relatively minor. Did I miss something?
I personally don't mind the current theme as it is. It's a tad cheesy and girly, with that obvious reference to the original, but this /is/ My Little Pony we're watching here...
Now, it will feel as if I am waiting for season 2 again every week. At least that's how I feel now. I have never looked forward to the weekends as much as I do now.
Oh, shucks. I was a little sad that this first episode didn't have the new opening, but I'll just have to wait patiently like a good pony for two more weeks, I guess i can handle it.
It makes complete sense, seeing as the first two episodes were made before Dan redid the song. Then again, it was completely possible for them to edit-in the new opening over the old.
@Ford Episode 1 of Season 2 was always meant to be Episode 1 of Season 2. I can't believe people are STILL saying the contrary, especially after Jayson debunked that theory in the recent interview.
They worked on it at the same time as the Season 1 episodes so that they could have the same animators and staff on the team, to make the transition smoother between seasons.
The HUB replaying the first episode back-to-back almost counts as a troll moment; I recorded both JUST IN CASE they were going to surprise us with the full two-parter!
Makes sense. The first two episodes are still by Lauren Faust, thus use the same intro. The rest of the season is by a different producer, therefore, the new intro.
Saturday October 1 will be a repeat of Season 2 Episode 1 This is according to tvguide.com. Looks like Episode 3 will be at least 2 weeks after Episode 2, and may even be 3 weeks if they play episode 2 again...
@BronyDude: Probably. After all, if Luna was going to appear in the Discord story, she'd have been right there beside Celestia briefing the team, especially considering how many times Luna was mentioned in the exposition.
Was wondering about that. I knew he said there would be one but Season 2 still had the old opening. I guess it would make sense since the Ponies would have to find their "Spark" again.
I was just assuming that one of the (apparently minor) changes in the new opening was going to be something related to Discord, and that we'd get the new opening after he was defeated.

Good to hear
ReplyDeleteyay
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with this.
ReplyDeleteTotally saw this coming.
ReplyDeleteGlad that this message showed up in Equestria Daily.
ReplyDeleteAh, I was wonder about that and was disappointed that there wasn't any new theme this time. Good to know it's coming.
ReplyDeleteConsidering episodes one and two were originally going to be episodes 27 and 28 respectively, I am actually not surprised.
ReplyDeleteI hope people weren't going over the top to annoy him about something so minor.
ReplyDeletePonycountdown.com needs to update for the new opening...
ReplyDeleteI was looking for it.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense, if it was in line with the other stuff that S2 eps 1+2 were being done during s1
ReplyDeleteNot surprised, but relieved nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteSo curoius... Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteOh, good. I was wondering why I didn't notice a difference when the Premiere aired this morning.
ReplyDeleteYES YES YES YES YES!!! i thought they got rid of it all together. it's gonna be SO AWESOME!!/)^3^(\
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to it. :D
ReplyDeleteWell, at least next week, new MLP will act as a "filler" for my Animation Domination schedule.
ReplyDeletecant wait for this :)
ReplyDeleteAha! I knew it. A little disappointed that the Discord eps didn't have a new opening but that makes sense considering when they were developed.
ReplyDeleteAw yeah
ReplyDeleteyeah it was obvious since this was done during season 1. Still tho can't wait for the new theme song.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I expected, since the first two episodes were made so much earlier than the rest. Looking forward to hearing the new theme.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about that. It took me by surprise that the first ep. had the old intro
ReplyDeleteYay, I guess. The theme better be good, or I'll be cross lol :)
ReplyDeleteI was whining about this a couple times during the mare-o-thon... I knew then Hasbro totally trolled us when they decided to leave the last two episodes of S1 to be the opener for s2 because they saw how epic this 2 parter was.

BUT I WANT IT NOW!!!!!-Applebloom
ReplyDeleteI read this as, 'Remastered Theme Coming With Season Three'.
ReplyDeleteAnd there was much disappointment both prior and following the realization.
I've been seeing a lot of people around here saying they hate the original theme song, so I have to ask. Is there anypony else who likes the theme we have?

ReplyDeleteSeems appropriate, actually. I feel like "Return of Harmony" is an usher into Season Two, much like "Friendship is Magic" was to the first.
ReplyDeleteThat is cool I can wait 14 days if more than that then aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaashhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I was hoping it would be with episode 1, but alas... I can wait for episode 3 xD
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about that. At least it's only being delayed to episode 3 instead of SEASON 3.
ReplyDelete@NDupree93 I love the theme song as is. Never really found any fault with it, which is probably good considering how many times I've captioned it to this point.
ReplyDelete@NDupree93
ReplyDeletethe have been saying they would change it don't see anything wrong with the original
I should assume this is due to the fact that two episodes were already finished by the end of season one...
ReplyDelete@NDupree93 of course i liked the old one! that's why i want to hear the new one so badly.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about that. I noticed right off the bat it wasn't any different and figured because episode 1 and 2 were done during season 1 being released that that would be the case...
ReplyDeleteThis is probably going to sound dumb of me, but does this also mean we have a new intro? I mean, its basically the same song just a tiny bit different.
ReplyDelete@Radimir
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I read it too! Stupid brain mistaking "episode" for "season".

@wbwolf
ReplyDeleteOh god someone plz check that D:
Bronies, why are we getting so hysterical over this? I though he said (paraphrasing) that the changes to the intro were going to be relatively minor. Did I miss something?

I thought it was something like that. Wasn't The Return of the Elements originally going to be in Season 1?
ReplyDeleteNow, it will feel as if I am waiting for season 2 again every week. At least that's how I feel now. I have never looked forward to the weekends as much as I do now.
ReplyDeleteOh, shucks. I was a little sad that this first episode didn't have the new opening, but I'll just have to wait patiently like a good pony for two more weeks, I guess i can handle it.
ReplyDeleteThe Opening was my greatest Challenge to convert people to ponies, At least Discord was Awesome enough to forgive this.
ReplyDeleteDouble the awesome. <3
ReplyDelete@Mike
ReplyDeleteAccording to DirecTV's guide it's episode 2. Anyway, who uses TV Guide anymore? I mean really.
@ChaosDX1
ReplyDeleteIIRC Jayson shot that theory down in his recent EqD interview.
BUT...AH WANT IT NOOOOOOOOW!
ReplyDeleteOh so that's what it was.. I was like "how is it gonna be? how is it.. eh?" so this is good to hear.
ReplyDeleteIt makes complete sense, seeing as the first two episodes were made before Dan redid the song. Then again, it was completely possible for them to edit-in the new opening over the old.
ReplyDelete@Ford

@Vermillion Twilight
ReplyDeleteJust checked Comcast channel guide. Episode 2 will be on the 24th.
Don't panic!
@marioandsonic
ReplyDeleteThe HUB replaying the first episode back-to-back almost counts as a troll moment; I recorded both JUST IN CASE they were going to surprise us with the full two-parter!
hey guys look on the bright side, at least he confirmed season 3 for us
ReplyDelete@NDupree93
ReplyDeleteI like the season 1 theme. Hopefully this new theme will be just as good, if not better.
I figured that would be the case, since the first two episodes were part of season one as far as production goes.
ReplyDeleteI did notice that Big Macintosh was replaced with a really buff Caramel in the intro when Twilight lands.
ReplyDeleteGaben will be pleased that Episode Three will have a remastered theme. Assuming it ever comes out.
ReplyDeleteYup, beginning at episode three. Fun stuff. :D
ReplyDeleteMakes sense. The first two episodes are still by Lauren Faust, thus use the same intro. The rest of the season is by a different producer, therefore, the new intro.
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah. Two weeks till new pony theme.
ReplyDeleteI hope they don't put the extended theme as the opening. Longer theme = less time for ponies.
ReplyDeleteI'm cool with this
ReplyDeleteWith a new theme it wil hopefully draw new viewers cause hearing "My Little Pony, My Little Pony" right away probably draws some people away.
ReplyDeleteSaturday October 1 will be a repeat of Season 2 Episode 1 This is according to tvguide.com. Looks like Episode 3 will be at least 2 weeks after Episode 2, and may even be 3 weeks if they play episode 2 again...
ReplyDeleteSo if the new opening starts on Ep.3 does that mean Luna won't appear till Ep.3?
ReplyDeleteYeah I thought so
ReplyDeleteThere's supposed to be a new opening? Interesting. I don't know why. But interesting.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I actually do know why. Because the theme song is shit. I love how the season premiere ended with:
Discord: I'm going to destroy the world! MUHAHAHAHA!
*jaunty theme tune*
It's like following up a character killing herself on Battlestar Galactica, with an ad that features the song I Just Want to Celebrate by Rare Earth.
"I just want to celebrate another day of livin'! I just want to celebrate another day of life!"
True story, it was a cracker commercial.
@Th3D0ctor
ReplyDeleteAW! I am grossly offended my the Hub's scheduling practices.
@BronyDude: Probably. After all, if Luna was going to appear in the Discord story, she'd have been right there beside Celestia briefing the team, especially considering how many times Luna was mentioned in the exposition.
ReplyDeleteWas wondering about that. I knew he said there would be one but Season 2 still had the old opening.

I was just assuming that one of the (apparently minor) changes in the new opening was going to be something related to Discord, and that we'd get the new opening after he was defeated.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know I was right for thinking that.
The song is remastered, not remixed. It will still be the same theme, just a bit enhanced.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be greatly amused come episode three when people are expecting something radically different. :P
@R10t Pol1ce
ReplyDeleteYou beat me to the Valve jokes :P
I meant to also say that I'm looking forward to hearing the remastered version of the song! :)
ReplyDeleteFair enough!
ReplyDeleteNothing like celebrating the second episode than having the re-mastered theme in episode three :3
I was wondering about that. Oh well, can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI really hope it's not too radical a change, and I also doubt that the first five seconds of the theme will be unceremoniously lopped off.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'm still hoping that Hasbro releases the full theme.
YAY ^^
