For all the DDR/Stepmania junkies out there (and if BroNYCon was any indication, there are a bunch of them in this fandom), a full pony pack has been released, complete with videos and difficulty levels for pretty much anyone.
Check out the download page for different file sizes.

Nice.
ReplyDeleteWoot, stepmania.
ReplyDeleteDownloading naow.
This seems really cool.
ReplyDeleteGranted I'm super broke so I only own DDR in PS2 form, so this download is more than likely useless to me :V
But still cool. *watches video enviously*
Yay, pony music dance stuff!
ReplyDeleteNot much use to me, but nice to see all the same.
ReplyDeleteI love stepmania, if I had the stuff I'd be on this ALL DAY, sadly I don't :(
ReplyDelete@mizu-takishima
ReplyDeleteStepmania is 100% free.... Go grab it now. :D
I never got into Stepmania/DDR, steppad wise cause I would've fallen through my floor from the bouncing. <_<
ReplyDeleteNever played it with keyboard.
@GaruuSpike
ReplyDeleteReally??
I'll go look for it! Somehow ; w ;
This is exactly the flimsy pretext I need to redownload Stepmania.

Remember guys and gals, some "In the Groove" dance machines just happen to have USB ports on them and software capable of reading these files.
ReplyDeleteI know what I'm doing next time I see one :D
@GaruuSpike
ReplyDeletelol yeah I figured that out after I typed that OTL
I'll go back to being a lurker now;;;
how does stepmainia work? I have DDR on the wii :P
ReplyDeleteand i need the ponies!
Finally some pony stepmania songs that are possible for average players. Prior to this, the only stepmania pony songs I could find were all 10+ step difficulty.
ReplyDeleteHmm...I must be doing something wrong...none of the songs are showing up. Ah well. Never really liked StepMania anyway. Always been more of a DDR fan.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone has an Android, these files will work with Beats: Advanced Rhythm Game. You'll need to download the pack to your computer first, put it in a .zip file instead of the .rar, and find a way to get it on your phone/tablet from there. it's definitely worth it, though.
ReplyDeleteI take it this isn't the pack from r21freak?
ReplyDeleteI had a look at that one and wasn't too thrilled at some of the chart constructions.
In any case, for those wanting to know how to install this, go to
www.stepmania.com
download stepmania, install it ANYWHERE BUT PROGRAM FILES IF YOU ARE ON WINDOWS VISTA OR SEVEN.
then grab the .zip file, unzip it and stick it in the 'songs' folder.
also downloading, and hoping to god it's not a keyboard pack. hah.
ReplyDeleteOh my god... Alex S's Intro was HELL, even on beginner! Never again, pony. D:
ReplyDeletereally? it shall be the first song i play when it's done caching then!
ReplyDeleteedit - you weren't playing on beginner. that was a medium chart. ddr expert charts are generally 8's and 9's.
ReplyDeletestick to things that have 1-3 bars/feet until you get better :)
also i might have to get my ddr mat back inside. even though i was done sweating an hour ago, this might be worth it.

ReplyDeleteAlright, been using a keyboard - beat EVERY song on expert, with a double A mark.
ReplyDelete@PBRMasterKai
ReplyDeleteNo kidding. I think my mind and thumbs are numb.
My laptop doesn't have winrar installed >.>
ReplyDeleteHow embarrassing...
The link isn't working for me! I was so excited, too, because I love Stepmania and have a USB DDR mat...
ReplyDeleteAh, I got it to work now! I think it was just down for a little while. c:
ReplyDeleteDon't worry fillies and gentlecolts, the stepfiles included in here ALL have easy, medium, and hard difficulties. Ones that are possible for a beginner to do on a pad.
ReplyDeleteSome of them have Challenge/Expert difficulties. Cupcakes [SweetBeat] Mix is the hardest song in here in that respect.
But, if you are able to hook up a pad to your computer (IT CAN BE DONE, FOLKS.), you won't get raped with keyboard-chart arrows. :D
jesus christ there's no way that schlagwerk is a 14 chart.
ReplyDeleteI mean damn, I can pass some 14's. and that is not one of them.
As for the other charts there SEEMS to be a few double steps in, but then playing with fingers is different since you miss the foot lifts and such.
But as garuu says, check my topics here
ReplyDeletehttp://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/viewforum.php?forumid=62
and the threads here
http://www.stepmania.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?59-Input-Adapter-and-Controller-questions
for info on pads for your pc :)
@8ftmetalhead
ReplyDeleteSchlagwerk looks to be the exact same as hard, just with a few more silly arrows added to the short stream. Basically pointless.
Okay, so having moved to my desktop which actually has winrar I have this to say.
ReplyDeletePlayed Alex S. remix and Cupcakes.
First one I quit half-way through because it was completely off beat and way easier than the song permits. Cupcakes was tame until someone thought throwing in alternating 32th notes was a good idea. (Hint: adding physically restrictive things like fast staccato / alternation is really bad.)
Songs weren't fun to play at all. Making good stepfiles is rather difficult and settling for mediocrity can be tempting. I wasn't really expecting much going into these, but I'd suggest getting feedback from the stepmania community before publishing any more of these.
If I've misjudged based on two bad apples, consider getting bad apples out of your bushels before you sell 'em. ;)
OMG MY BODY IS READY.
ReplyDeleteI know what I'll be doing as soon as I get access to an ITG2 machine~
@Cameron
ReplyDeleteWere you playing on expert, or Schlagwerk?
@Dr. Whooves I played the beat-maps with the highest listed difficulties.
ReplyDeleteI kinda have to agree with Cameron, the quality was bit iffy for few of the songs.
ReplyDeleteAlso even with highest difficulty some of the songs were easy enough that I could do them with mat while they were clearly intended for keyboard (three simultaneously notes etc).
So yeah overall these are ok for first batch but could really use some fine tuning and feedback from someone with more experience on making stepfiles.
I'm am kinda lunatic for stepmania thou so my views for difficulty of the files may be bit screwed.
3 notes is not uncommon in in the groove charts. nor is 4. you use your hands or cheat and use your tose.
ReplyDeleteI had never played this kind of game before, so I gave it a try.
ReplyDeleteI officially suck at anything that isn't the easiest setting.
I guess I should keep practicing, then.
To be honest for my opinion....
ReplyDeleteI should set up a group for Pony Stepmania/Osu! group
Agreed with pachikira here. He makes amazing packs and always on beat.
ReplyDeletePACHI WHY U NO CONTINUE PINKIE PIE STYLE DDR?!
Yay more Pony into my StepMania!
ReplyDelete@pachikira
ReplyDeleteYeah what happened to Pinkie pie style ddr? I had your site and thread watched but havent seen anything in a long while. Are you still working on it?
I hope hard is ITG hard and not DDR hard.
ReplyDeleteDDR hard is a waste
Well, time to re-dl stepmania.
ReplyDeleteWelp, time to get back into Stepmania!
ReplyDeleteRe: The Edit step ("Schlagwerk") of Cupcakes: the really, really fast steps are 48th notes (mostly 24ths in the Expert step), and are actually in the song - I didn't exaggerate that if my ears are to be believed. That one I don't expect most people to pass on pad. It's just there for kicks (and keyboard players, I suppose).
ReplyDeleteRe: MLP (Glitch Remix) missing Novice/Easy steps: This is a pad pack so I'm not expecting Novice/Easy level players to want to play a song clocked in at 4:45.
If a particular song is offsync, please let me know! I spent way too much time trying to get everything synced up at the local-ish machine.
How to win at Stepmania on a keyboard for me:
ReplyDeleteNever use the arrow keys, your fingers kind of get in the way of your other fingers.
I bound my keys to:
Q W O P
That way i can have one finger on every key without them getting in the way, pretty useful for some step patterns.
@schlagwerk
ReplyDeleteokay what the hell Schlag. I tried it on the Edit step difficulty of Cupcakes. How in the world are you SUPPOSED to hit those 48th notes? o.o
Even running the song at 800 BPM (and the bleeding fingers that goes with it), i was unable to hit 90% of note "Note packs"
I can do the first 30 seconds of the song at 400 BPM (My regular speed), then the note packs appears and i miss 10 notes in a row leaving me pretty low on health.
I tried faster to have a bigger gap in them, 800 BPM makes me be borderline dead all the time, note packs still too hard to hit and kill me.
So i was like, maybe its not made for those blazing speed. So i tried it at regular speed. And i really really die in the first 15 seconds. Just cant do it when the song is THAT slow. And worse, i still cant hit more than 80% of that infamous note pack.
Any tips?
I cannot download this until tomorrow, that's a pity, but I will comment nevertheless.
ReplyDeleteI have four and a half years of dance game experience and I can pass some 15s. I am fairly good at making stepcharts. I would be more than happy to work on this.
From what I've seen in the comments, the charts could use quite a bit of work. I will get to it tomorrow, or early next week.
@schlagwerk just because it sounds like it doesn't mean it's a good idea to put notes in that are close to physically impossible. Primary goal is fun, secondary is making it synchronised with the music. (However in most cases they come hand in hand, just not when it's asinine speed.)
ReplyDeleteI'm really getting frustrated, how does it work ?
ReplyDeleteI downloaded Stepmania 5.0 Preview3 from the website, put everything in the correct folders, the title menu says "2 groups 12 songs" but only 2 songs show up and I can't change groups.
What am I doing wrong ?
Already found the answer
ReplyDeletefor anyone else having that problem
Go to Options -> Select game and choose "dance" instead of "pump"
The 24th notes on Expert are easy as hell to hit. The 48th notes on Schlagwerk are just too much, though.
ReplyDeleteDang, a pad pack. I think I'll wait until a kb pack comes out.
ReplyDelete"The steps are a piled-on mishmash of everything but the kitchen sink."
ReplyDeleteNot to be a party killer but they rely a lot on off beat instruments patterns, chaos, one-two, and holds on succession in a silly way. Some are boring and others are crazy, almost unplayable.
The only one that I found well made was Winter Wrap Up and then my only complain is that it is the shortest song in the pack... .-.
Rating: 6/10. I'll go back to playing Renard's stepcharts...
Most songs were trash, however cupcakes was awesome
ReplyDeleteWill post vids later
I will go to the arcade next weekend just to play these on the ITG2 machine. <3
ReplyDelete@Chaoslux: Try it on Hallway or Mini. Gives you more breathing room to read it.
ReplyDelete@Cameron: That chart is a joke, which I should have made clearer with a witty edit description. Conventionally this is where the step artist goes.
Awesome stuff Schlagwerk, don't let the naysayers get to you. I thoroughly enjoyed the charts, there's plenty for players of all skill levels. I'm not quite up to 12 or 13 level but those charts look like they would be fun if I could. This went straight up onto our ITG machine the same day it was posted here! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Chroma. I'm glad the push for accessibility paid off. :)
ReplyDeleteFor anyone else that's still reading the comments, I just posted up a new version that fixes USB stuff. Last one until the next pack!
I like using the keyboard, why is everyone hating it again?
ReplyDeleteI've been using the pack for a little while... And having finished most of the songs on Medium (not all mind you) I eventually tried hard... And my human body's lack of being quadruped became a mild handicap.
ReplyDeleteAnd so... Now I need to figure out how to Nerf the three simultaneous steps problem.
... or I could learn free-runing so I can get used to landing on my hands.
Either way, It can't possibly be that hard to figure out... right?
...
Right?
Link is broken.
