Check it out after the break!

MAD magazine recently did one of their crazy parody videos, and tossed ponies into the mix. It's surprisingly lacking in the hate considering the reputation of the site. They even threw some Applejackrecolorxhuman shipping in there for those that are into that sort of thing.

Omg yes.
ReplyDeleteEven more shall know of us!
ReplyDeleteI miss so much Mad Mexico :c
ReplyDeleteThis video kinda sucked actually...
ReplyDelete@Jelfes
ReplyDeleteNot this way...its not worth it.
Oh dear Lord God Almighty. That's all have I to say about that, and that I want see that re-colored Applejack as a real pony. (Please don't judge me.)
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about copyright law that allows them to use direct designs from Cowboys and Aliens, such as the actors' faces and the logo, but not real designs of My Little Pony? Cause you know they use real batman designs and stuff all the time. Was it just a choice?
ReplyDeletePonies would make that last Indiana Jones movie better
ReplyDeleteThat isn't Applejack...
ReplyDeleteThis show makes my brain hurt...
ReplyDeleteEh. I tried watching this show but it seemed like a watered down Robot Chicken
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which I'm waiting for them to plug ponies. Seth Green has a pic of him with giant pinkie pie circling the interweb. Is he a Brony?
@Yaru I just finished watching it, I agree, it shouldn't be this way, that video actually wasn't very good. Still... publicity is publicity
ReplyDeleteyay ponies (our quest for world dominance is furthered)
ReplyDeletethat was weird. Although, I was distracted by battle in Rome: TW. <_<
ReplyDeleteWell, at least it could have been worse.
ReplyDelete...
ReplyDeleteWhat?
Am I the only one who doesn't find MAD funny at all?
ReplyDelete@Daniel the Brony (Mama's so proud...)
ReplyDeleteIt's because it was adapted to fit Cartoon Network standards.
i.e. Complete random nonsense with *maybe* a few funny moments here and there.
...Spy vs. Spy will always be top-tier though.
Wait wait wait, MAD magazine still exists? Oh right the video, it was odd. And not the fun kind of odd.
ReplyDeleteWhat did I just watch??
ReplyDeleteI..what...huh?
ReplyDeleteOk, let's cut to the chase, bronies:
ReplyDeleteWhat fan name do we give this pony?
@Daniel the Brony (Mama's so proud...)
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've heard, Green is indeed a Brony.
....Applejack/James Bond shipping, I smell it.
ReplyDeleteWhy didnt i watch this yesterday??!?!
ReplyDeleteMad is actually a show on Cartoon Network created by the magazine. I actually like the show. It's hit-and-miss, but when it's funny, it's funny.
ReplyDeleteOn this sketch, it's kinda funny. It's not the best, but it's pretty good.
"Cowboys & Equestrians"
ReplyDeleteA name like that had potential...sigh.
am i the one who has to say it? fine.....this show is now 20% cooler, but its still awfull
ReplyDelete@marioandsonic
ReplyDeleteUhm...Applejack version 1.5
See, this would be good, if it were actually funny. Though I like the inclusion of ponies. Ponies always make everything awesome.
ReplyDeleteFinally this was posted XD. I only managed to catch the first few seconds due to faulty scheduling on my dvr, but this makes up for it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, WHAT A TWEEST!
Well then. I don't really know what to say about that. It's hilarious, but it's also kinda like what? I'll just leave it at some of those ponies were kind of nice and I'm waiting for fan art of them.
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty entertaining.
ReplyDeleteI guess we're calling her Appleflack?
ReplyDeleteWell this was the unfunniest thing I've seen all day.
ReplyDelete@NDupree93
ReplyDelete*flutteryay* not only is he a great inclusion to the herd, he might actually do MLP justice if he does a pony sketch in Robot Chicken
@Vintage VCR:
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about the "Cowboys and Aliens" stuff, but Cartoon Network, Mad Magazine and DC Comics are all owned by the same company, Time Warner. I imagine they can be assured that they're not going to be suing themselves, and so are free to use trademarked versions of Batman and the like.
The real Ponies, however, are not yet within their clutches.
THAT LOOKED NOTHING LIKE APPLEJACK...
ReplyDelete"Yeah, but the script needs work so I keep kidnapping writers to help me finish it
ReplyDelete*read*
NO!"
Lol I'm surprised
ReplyDeleteMy eyes just bled SO BADLY, that was pretty bad. The worst part is that my little brother and sister watch this show, I don't ever want to imagine their responses.
ReplyDelete@marioandsonic
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking "Japple Ack".
Even tho there's so much randomness in it that they forgot the funny stuff, i still find it pretty darn entertaining.
ReplyDeleteAlso: I can't wait till all those ponies get their own fan art. (maybe in the FIM style, without the 100% anime eyes)
Lolwut? I was never a fan of MAD but that was mildly awesome.
ReplyDelete>Before "My name is Applejack"
ReplyDelete:|
>After "My name is Applejack"
FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
I find the show funny. That's all I'm sayin.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're welcome for mentioning this the minute MAD ended.
And there was also a slight misshapen Rainbow Dash in the "Thunder-lol-cats" on MAD as well.
What kind of terrible atrocity did I just watch?
ReplyDeleteWish I could unsee it all
@LimeyLassen I think it's best if we leave them un-named.
ReplyDeleteIt was ok. Could've been a lot funnier though.
ReplyDelete@LimeyLassen
ReplyDeleteOr we could name her after Jackle App...
@LimelyLassen
ReplyDeleteBut I must say, if you're choosing a name for it then I would suggest anything thing that isn't, "Japple Ack," for reasons obvious if you actually read that aloud to yourself.
Bronydom has successfully invaded another television channel! Somebody needs to begin arranging an immaculate chorus of angelic light and sound for our victory!
ReplyDeletethat was...Weird I subscibe to mad, mainly because it's more Homerun or strikout than hit or miss
ReplyDeleteHate MAD show
ReplyDeletelove the pony publicity
/thread
I thought it was kind of funny, but I've hated that stupid animation style since it first started with those stupid commercials and stuff.
ReplyDelete"What is it about copyright law that allows them to use direct designs from Cowboys and Aliens, such as the actors' faces and the logo, but not real designs of My Little Pony? Cause you know they use real batman designs and stuff all the time. Was it just a choice?"
ReplyDeleteWell, first of all, you can't copyright a character, but you can trademark a character or likeness. THe actor's likeness fall under fair use as a public figure.
Mad can use actual Batman and DC logos because Mad is part of Time Warner, which owns DC.
Oh you classy lady Applejack...
ReplyDeleteWhat a silly video and Applejack will remain a silly pony. :P
So is this Applejack LaRue, from that branch of the family the Apple family don't talk about? (Wanting to dress in a skinsuit and have HANDS, that's just freakish, amirite?)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be Butters here and state that I think the last Indiana Jones movie was okay. Everything was in place. Mcguffin based on the current pseudo-archaeological fascination of the day, check. Annoying young sidekick, check. Karen Allen, check. Power hungry villain with funny accent, check. You can blame the History Channel for making the crystal skulls a popular enough curiosity to warrant inclusion in the film. I didn't see them as any less believable than the lost arc actually having supernatural properties. Though, I do believe in God, I think God is much less believable in general that aliens.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I agree it would have been better with ponies. Roughly %20.
Ah, here is the skit. Heh, kinda funny. Ponies make everything better. Even rather odd things like this. :D
ReplyDelete@NDupree93
ReplyDelete\nope. they've fallen a long way recently. though I still like spy v spy.
funny how cracked, their old rival, has quickly made ground on them, and completely dominates MAD on the internet.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteIf we're gonna have people join the herd, we honestly should be choosers...
ReplyDeleteThat felt very funny.
ReplyDeletewait, is this the same MAD that was the live action sketch comedy show? Cause I thought it was canceled in 2005.
ReplyDeleteNever been a fan of MAD (not my cup o' tea), and that was pretty silly, but any time the fandom receives acknowledgement in other media and it's not in a negative light, I'm okay with it.
ReplyDeleteHow about K'cajelppa?
ReplyDeleteFinally seth.
ReplyDeleteAnother name for Jackapple?
ReplyDelete"I think a better name might be Shooty Bands."
The video -that's right, the video itself- gives us a suggestion.
So... I think this video is funny.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, go to Reddit, cuz another MAD video hit the front page.
Look for:
"This just aired on a children's show. I think the internet has been breached."
Oh Wait what about Apple Jacked!
ReplyDeleteHA!
ReplyDeleteThat was crazy and oddly entertaining. ...Which I guess is what MAD does.
huh... i saw this today on mad was wondering when it would show up here.
ReplyDeleteI really loved their pony designs. And maybe she looks nothing like Applejack, but I like the design, so maybe I'll use her for a fanfic (and yes, I'll still call her applejack, and whill be in fact the granddaughter of our applejack)
ReplyDeleteAnd MAD has a bad sense of humor! But awesome pony artist!!!
Its like all the joy in my life drained away...
ReplyDeleteI should mention the thundercats sketch also had ponies in a brief cameo. And trolls.
ReplyDeleteAnd if anypony wants to see the whole segment with my little pony in it, it's right here...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa075ZlTUys
I liked it. Within the realm of parody. they were actually pretty good. They hit the target (so to speak) with the balloon, they used Applejack's name directly, and used an approximately appropriate mane/tail style and threw a hat on her. There were 5 ponies that came in on the stat of the pony scene, with a single unicorn pony coming down on the balloon. That's a total of 6 (MAD AJ was shown in the first group of 5) They also showed only 1 pegasus... BUT it was light blue with a mane and tail that was made up of red and purple.
ReplyDeleteI will agree that MAD's humor can fall flat often, and that it's way too often juvenile, but for a parody, they did a very good job of imitating without copying. I give it 5 stars for at least having devastatingly destructive rainbow laser blasts and skipping almost any semblance of girly frou-frouness. Taste the rainbow is friggin CANON... RAINBOW POWERED ELEMENTS OF HARMONY CANON!
POW
It wasn't bad, but they really should have not used the name Applejack. I mean really, decide if you're going to use the real characters or stand-ins, don't straddle the fence.
ReplyDeleteAppuljak
ReplyDeleteThis show is...Bad. Really bad. I hate this show and curse to myself every time it comes on. It is funny every once in a while, but it's so hit-and-miss it's not worth watching the funny parts. They muck up some cameos as well. Although this and the ThunderLOLCats bits were actually alright, and got some laughs out of me. Still, bad show.
ReplyDeleteyou have got to be kidding me. MAD? god, i swear the only good childrens cartoon today is, well..... i'm sure you can guess.
ReplyDeleteWelp, I'm sticking to the mag.
ReplyDeleteAt least the mag still has Spy vs Spy and Sergio Aragonés cartoons.
I'd say, "This made MAD 20% cooler," but, no... It definitely gave MLP a little bit of a bad name in this context... MAD is shit anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhy is there music in the video posted here?
ReplyDeleteWhat the? What have you done with the REAL Applejack!?
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm not sure this is good publicity...
LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR
ReplyDeleteLET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR
LOOOOOOOLOLOLOLLLLLLLLL
@Bloomberg
ReplyDeleteI see you're confusing Appuljak with Applejack.
Though I read that they actually used Gen 3 Applejack colors.
Judging by the cutiemark this "Appuljak" as I'm calling it, is a fusion between Rarity and the real Applejack.
Coming from an objective viewpoint, (as I'd never really seen MAD until today) I thought this was a decent parody. I don't understand all the hate. It got us more exposure and it was NOT negative.
ReplyDeleteROFL?
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't nearly as bad as you guys made it out to be.
ReplyDeleteI liked the part where his girlfriend turned into a pony.
ReplyDeleteDesign-wise, MAD's Applejack uses G3 toy Applejack's color scheme and a pseudo-G4 Applejack design.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that isn't Applejack on this pony is her cutie mark.
This didn't make us look bad, you retards. Why don't you guys go complain about something that's ACTUALLY making us look bad?!
ReplyDeleteThere is also the Rainbow Dash part in the "ThunderLOLCats" part at that end of MAD...
ReplyDeleteAlthough it may not be much... It still has pony. :D
For MAD quality, I found the episode to be probably the most enjoyable in a long while. The Cowboys vs Equestrians segment I enjoyed, and with the ThunderLOLCats I was rolling on my couch, laughing my plot off (Rainbow Dash's brief appearance in a segment about internet memes was too much for me).
ReplyDeleteThe best feeling was that MAD decided to parody the Ponies in a way that wasn't completely demeaning to its fanbase. Best victory, considering they could have easily gone the route of ridiculing the '20-something year olds who watch a girl show'.
Props to you MAD, thanks for the laughs!
-Makes out with the girl-
ReplyDelete-Girl turns into a pony-
Me: Oh, what the hell?
Pause.
Me: "Oh, what the hell.
-Continues making out-
@Vintage VCR, you should see the designs they used during the ThunderLOLCats segment: My Little Piggies.
ReplyDeleteI lol'd so much when it came on.
ReplyDeleteLooks like they replaced the video with music now. Here's the full video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa075ZlTUys
ReplyDelete@LyokoFreaks
ReplyDeleteOH GOD NO
I found it hilarious.
ReplyDeleteWe Bronies are becoming more and more powerful.
ReplyDeleteWe shall rule the world.
All Hail Celestia!
why is the video up there only with music of "let the bodies hit the floor" instead of the real soundtrack? With text the whole thing made sense (for Mad-standards at least) and was actually funny. For those who missed it in the comments, here's the link again:

ReplyDeleteI honestly was expecting a complete hack job, but that was a more positive spin then most of their satires.
ReplyDeleteWhile humor did fall a little flat, I still thought it was pretty good.
First we got Applejack... then we got Eppaljeck... and now this. THE APPLE FAMILY IS MANIFESTING THE WORLD!!
ReplyDeleteThis was actually really good.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I vote for Applewilde (since the actress's name is Olivia Wilde).
mad is fucking horrendously bad
ReplyDeleteSo I assume there was a non fail add my own music versions and it got swapped out during the evening?
ReplyDeleteThis show has the attention span of an overhyper chinchilla on caffine pills and adrenaline shots! I'm not sure if I should like it...
ReplyDeleteMuch more epic than expected XD
ReplyDeletenow my little bro is a brony! :)
now we just need another robot chicken skit.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised too, there's 0% Hate in that vid, kudos to MAD for not jumping into the easy band wagon. Also, the fact that Olivia Wilde turns into an Applejack expi makes this video win a lot of points. Olivia Wilde is awesome; she needs to be in more movies.
While I don't hate MAD at all like some people do (though when I first saw it, I was like "Is Cartoon Network desperate or something!?"), I was kinda waiting for this to happen. It's not the BEST MLP parody in my opinion (and it's certainly not the best of MADs parodies), but it's definetly one of the better ones I've seen no less.
ReplyDeleteAlthough to be fair, Rainbow Dash did make a cameo in an earlier MAD short called "ThunderLOLCats" (probably my favorite MAD parody to date), in which the ThunderCats fought various internet memes (with Mumm-Ra being a Troll Face called "Troll-Ra"), although the cameo is brieif, she is at least sorta there.
Though I'm still suprised that Robot Chicken still hasn't parodied MLP yet, but this is close enough for me...
Now if Only MAD could be As funny as ponies. Or just funny at all
ReplyDeleteI think your all complaining about nothing. It was a good parody and hardly even slightly bad talked about ponies. I personally like mad and the thunderLOLcats made me LOL. "DONOTWANT!"
ReplyDeleteJAJAJAJAAJAJ
ReplyDeletepero que demonios xD
lol @ people getting mad, is just a parody! if you take seriously and rage, MAD wins! i think that pony is very cute, we should call her Madplejack!
ReplyDelete@LyokoFreaks
ReplyDeleteOh you,
I actually like good parodies, even though a lot of people like originals better.
ReplyDeleteBut, I found "Meet the Spartans" better than "300" so...
I kind of wish MAD would just go out of business. They stopped being funny years ago, and the only thing they still know how to do anymore is to try to convince their audience that everything popular is stupid and worthless. According to them, the more popular something is, the more you should hate it, and if you like something they don't, then they make you feel like an utter fool for liking it.
ReplyDeleteI'm just tired of people and companies that make their ENTIRE existence off of the concept of berating others, instead of actually going out and making something original.
... and that was NOT Applejack ... MEH!! *frowny-face*

ReplyDeleteMAD really isn't that funny anymore. they have moments. and it looks like they're trying to bring in an internet following:
ReplyDeletehttp://knowyourmeme.com/videos/17697-internet-is-leaking
(There are ponies briefly in that)
I'm scared of the future.
Whatever MAD does turns to diarrhea and vomit.
ReplyDeleteThey're the last ones I'd ever want to parody Ponies.
...
Though I'll always love the way they made Ahsoka look like Garfield in that star wars thing. But that's it.
WELOVEFINE.com PLEASE MAKE THIS ALTERED MANE 6 INTO A SHIRT.
ReplyDeletei noticed a few things.
ReplyDelete1. when u c the ponies flying in, the fake applejack is 1 of them and only 1 of them actually have wings.
2. im pretty sure the unicorn in the balloon is supposed 2 b twilight, which is also completely wrong.
3. apparently applejack is immune to lasers.
I like to call that one Cinnamon Applejack.
ReplyDelete:D
that was actually a good skit (FOR ONCE) and im not just saying that cuz of the ponies
ReplyDeleteI usually hate MAD, but that was glorious!
ReplyDeleteFirst, the video was awesome! Second, Parody AJ seem to be popular enough to deserves her own Tumblr!
ReplyDeleteLook it up!
BTW, I facepalm at all the hardcore haters...
ReplyDelete@Nals
ReplyDeleteCowboys vs EQUESTRIANS...good choice of word there.
THANKS CELESTIA AN LUNA!!!!
ReplyDeleteAt last... a parody!!!!!!
How did I miss this episode?
ReplyDelete*slaps knee*
ReplyDelete*laughs like pinkie pie*
