Which one do you think pulls it off the best? Some of these sound like they only have one or two voice actors for the entire cast, but that might just be because I can't understand anything.

    10. Re: French Art of the Dress

      (standard American listener disclaimer here)
The voices were hit or miss for me. Thankfully, Rarity's was excellent, so the song was a delight to listen to. I also liked Fluttershy's and Rainbow Dash's voices. Twilight and Pinkie Pie, were at best meh, and at worst poor, and Applejack felt very uninspired.

Still, Rarity's singer did an excellent job; I could tell she was enjoying the role, and I think she nailed the part.

    11. French "Art of the Dress"=Awesome. I think the voices of Rarity and Fluttershy match very well.

    12. Watch all of them with the the audio playing at the the same time. Crazy stuff...

    13. Sorry, I just cant stand hearing them in Swedish, not when I know how.. strange.. it is to hear them speak my own language. Dash´s voice has no energy :(

    20. Now I'm wondering how At the Gala and So Many Wonders would sound like in French, as well as You Gotta Share and At the Grand Galloping Gala.

      ReplyDelete
    21. I have to say the Swedish or Norwegian version pulled it off the best. the voice acting in those are better than the other.

      ReplyDelete
    22. @Ryex

they also cast the voices better they match the character more. I'm a firm believer that you can pick personality off the intonation. and the first two do a better job of matching the voices to the characters.

MY EARS OH GOD IT'S HORRID

      ReplyDelete
    25. Oohhhh boy, the Finnish ones are done by the same (small) group of VA's.

They're talented, but they pop up *everywhere*. In the intro, at least, they've done a really good job of translating the song but the ponies all sound worryingly similar. Let's hope they can diversify. Not a trace of a differing accent. Sigh.

      Oh you.

On another note, danish voice acting are horribad, at least unsatisfactory.

    29. Bwahahaha, alright i'm swedish but i could seriously not watch more then 1 minute before starting to laugh more than i should have, sure it's well made but no, just no...

I realize now i could never watch this in swedish, sounds wierd, truly makes one appreciate the real english voiceacting.

Btw, why was spike voice made by a girl? what's up with that...

      ReplyDelete
    30. My god, these dubs are far from satisfactory. Being Norwegian myself I can understand most Scandinavian languages, and neither of them sound particularly good whatsoever.

Norwegian voice acting in particular have never been good, with only a few rare exceptions, and this show is not one of them.

I really can't stand dubs in general; I choose original over dubs any day.

    31. Oh god what, I'm danish, so I've dreaded this moment since FiM boomed.

Spike - Oh god why would he have this hoarse annoying voice?

Applejack - Not good, but it's okay (whry u calling him "Store Macintosh"? ;_;)

Twilight - Urgh, there's something terrible about this. Pretentious smart...

Rainbadurr - Also okay, but too squeaky. Actually sounds exactly like Appajak

      Pinkie Pie - ... NEJ
What the fuck, a squeaky voice suits Pinkie, yet she gets to have almost the same voice as Twilight?

Rarara - Too childish.. Gosh. She says fancy words, sure, but she sounds nothing like Rarity.

      Fluttershy - I like this one :3
      Kinda.

      "Buzzards that can really buzz"
      ~
      "Grippe der kan gribe alt"
      Really? Rrreeeally?

I like the Swedish version though, probably because Swedish just generally sounds better than Danish, and the voices are more suited imo.
Except Pinkie Pie is somehow even worse.
      And Fluttershy is better.
Buzzard joke was made into a simple letter rhyme instead of mangling it completely.

Norwegian is also better like Swedish. Spike isn't as mangled, Apple Jack is kind of nice. Oh my, she said "Big Macintosh", awesome!
They're also doing Pinkie Pie right, yay!
AND Rarity, what is this sorcery?
Fluttershy is only okay tho... Lets hear that buzzard joke.
They averted it instead of mangling it into a bad joke, awesome!

Finnish, what is this language? My god, I love Finnish but I understand 0% of it. ZERO.
I like their voices though, Applejack is a bit too squeaky-hoarse. Rainbadurr's voice is good :D
      I also like Pinkie Pie~
Rarity doesn't sound fitting at all.
Fluttershy doesn't sound fitting at all either.

      Greek~
Spike sounds stupid. Everypony's voice sounds wrong except maybe Applejack. Pinkie sounds kinda fitting though, when she's screaming and singing (Singing greek Pinkie Pie is the best part of all the dubs)
Rarity doesn't sound too wrong either.
      Fluttershy is pretty good too!

    32. I wonder why i can only find the ticket master DVD in the store, but I'm glad that the norwegian dubs actually were good for once.

      ReplyDelete
    33. @Wento

He's voiced by a girl in the original also. It's getting more common to have girls doing the voices of men in cartoons.

      ReplyDelete
    34. Swedish translation was good, the voice actors did a great job, but the casting was crap. They all sound the same.

      ReplyDelete
    35. Is MLP:FiM actually being broadcast on any Norwegian channel?

I live in Norway, and I don't know of it being aired anywhere yet.

      ReplyDelete
    36. As a greek I can say that the greek one is not really good. The voices sound so immature and rainbow dash sounds awful. Also there is the problem of translating something like "the grand galloping gala" it's greek translation doesn't sound really good.
Now I am wondering when we will see the series in greece.

      ReplyDelete
    37. @Forb.Jok

I don't think it has been aired here yet, but I hope it will happen soon.

      ReplyDelete
    38. I never thought I'd post here, but I just -had- to say something about the Swedish dub.

It doesn't come as a surprise to me to see that it's... pretty bad. The translation is mediocre at best, since the majority of it is just a word by word translation which makes it sound really stale.

The same goes for the voice actors. The only ones that I think even comes anywhere close to the original voices would be Rarity and -maybe- Twilight. Still, you can almost hear that they're all reading their lines off a piece of paper infront of them. Also, Applejack should have a skånsk accent (Any swedes out there will probably know what I'm talking about.)Kind of dissapointed that she didn't, but then again I'm dissapointed with this entire dub, even though I expected to be.

The only positive thing I could think of is that it proves that it really is the voice-actors that makes the characters. It's a half-hearted effort that doesn't do the original show or voices any justice.

Anyways, that's just the two-cents from a picky swede.

      ReplyDelete
    39. @Wento

Meh. It could be worse. I just hate how they all sounds like Stockholm brats.

And spike is always voiced by a girl. Just like in the original. The voice of spike in english is a woman, and also the english voice for Near in Death Note.

The swedish spike just sounds really girly. There's no intent to masculine up the voice.

      ReplyDelete
    40. I cant speak neither of the languages, but all of them (excluding the Danish) sounded very good.

      ReplyDelete
    41. I knew we couldn't make dubs here in Denmark but this is worse than I thought it would be.

      ReplyDelete
    42. I think the norwegian one sounded better.

      ReplyDelete
    43. @metalrev
They ruined Fluttershy's voice though, the swedish Fluttershy is better

      ReplyDelete
    44. NEED. WELSH. PONIES. That is all.

      ReplyDelete
    45. I'm still looking for the Spanish version of the show. The Spanish version from Spain, not the Spanish version from Latin America. Let's see how it is, though I am fearing it already.

      ReplyDelete
    46. Omg french art of dress sounded alright. I dont know if I want to watch any normal scenes with dubs but french rarity sounded fabolous. /stupid pun

      And how should it have been? Η μεγάλη καλπάζουσα γιορτή;

    48. As a Finn, I have to say that the Finnish dub was surprisingly good, and after I got over my initial shock, I quite enjoyed it. If they brought it to the TV here with this quality of dub, I'd watch it.

      ReplyDelete
    49. I really like how Rarity's voice sounds like un french, and the way her name sounds, too. Somehow, I think that french is very fitting to her personality.

      ReplyDelete
    50. I'm Finnish and I think that the voices didn't fit for some characters at all. They were soulless and sounded almost the same. Other than that, the voice actors did a quite good job.

      ReplyDelete
    51. As Finnish almost anything dubbed makes my earls bleed, reason why I realy haven't watched TV for nearly 3 years.

If I check something, I check it in english.

I just live in finland, sure I was born here, but damn the language sucks.

Quote from wikipedia: "The Danish (My Little Pony: Venskab er ren magi), Norwegian (My Little Pony: Vennskap er ren magi), and Swedish dubs (My Little Pony: Vänskap är magisk) are set to debut on Boomerang on September 26, 2011."

      ReplyDelete
    53. Oh you're lucky that you have that ignorance in this case. The Danish dub is the worst piece of shite I've ever heard. (You have no idea how wrong everypony sounds, except Fluttershy) The Norwegian is pretty cool though.

      ReplyDelete
    54. Rarity's voice is epic in French. O_O

      ReplyDelete
    55. Oh god! I HATE the swedish dub (I'm a full swede okay) when i first saw the ticketmaster on youtube I actually thought that it was a fandub made by some girly teens......oh how wrong I was....but i've been brainwashed since my niece LOOOOVEEEES the show and she's only five...so it's swedish all the way....(and why couldn't they include english on the dvd, aswell as at least 2 more epis)

    56. I remember subscribing to tis post a long time ago. How come people still post here? O_o

    57. OMG, this is just painful. I’ve tried to listen to the Danish version as I am Danish myself but I had to stop less then five minutes in. I love mlp, but I just cannot watch this, the voices sounds like they are spoken by small children.
I’ve only heard Twillight, Spikes and Applejacks voice I wouldn’t dare to go further less my ears would start bleeding.
It is so very clear that this translation is made for very small girls only, and it is so very clear that the Danish translators don’t think the show as anything but a show for the youngest and girlishest of girls.
They don’t respect the show nor do they like it, that much is obvious, and why does Applejack and Pinkie Pie have the same dubvoiceactor?
