Hello everypony. This week, you get spared from my rambling for a guest pep talk (just like the real NaNo! ... okay, not really). One of the other pre-readers has decided to be totally epic and volunteered to write this one in my stead. Hopefully he's more eloquent than me. It can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/ 1FV1MrUl9LjKLElb1cRhb_ EUjAwW8HrhpiaNDd4Xwy2A/edit? hl=en_US
Got through all that? Okay, I'm not quite done here. I'm mostly wanting to say that I will be attending BroNYcon with several other ponies... 200+ of them, as a matter of fact. Given permission from the legendary and awesome Purple Tinker, I'll compile the photos I'll be taking and perhaps have a BroNYcon post (with Seth/Cereal/Phoe's permission) when I get back on Monday. Since I'll be gone, I don't want anypony slacking! This is just shy of crunch time, and you're entering the home stretch. Make me proud, folks!

ReplyDeleteToo bad I don't write fanfiction. I might read some this is time though.
ReplyDeleteamazing, wish i cud go to broNY con u_u
ReplyDeletePurple Tinker is just awesome! Have a good time Bronie :D
ReplyDeleteThat picture.
ReplyDeleteIt is awesome.
And that's pretty much all I have to say. Hopefully, I did a decent job with the motivational stuff. :D
Holy shit, that was an awesome rant!
ReplyDeleteToo bad I only have 16k words wrote. Damn it!
I can finish, I know I can!
Although, that comment about comparing oneself to Kkat was entirely true, heh.
Anyways, back to writing!
I, Photo Finish, have arrived!!
ReplyDeleteWell, it won't be finished but at least I started it! 50K was always way outside my envelope, but (so far) it's been great practice working against a deadline. If nothing else it's increased my word rate almost ten fold (not joking-I'm on about 9.5K after 3 weeks, I'll leave it to the reader to work out how slow was before...).
ReplyDeleteI finished my Ponywrimo yesterday ^_^ Well, not FINISHED, but passed the 50,000 word mark.
ReplyDeleteSeeing as how I wrote on a whim, and didn't start until the 15th, sixteen thousands words is decent, right?
ReplyDeleteI'll rush the last THIRTY-FOUR THOUSAND.
*Nervous face.*
I'm actually pretty proud of myself. I've managed to stay on schedule (give or take an hour) despite a rather...taxing family emergency.
ReplyDeleteStill, I'm now more worried about getting to the conclusion before the deadline, as I want to have it all done when it comes time to send it in on Oct. 1. I'm not sure how long it is 'til the end word-wise, so I'll just have to try and reach the end as best I can.
After all, who needs to do homework in college when you can write pony fic for a living?
(What's that? You can't? Well shit. Better sign up for summer semester.)
Also, I reached a point earlier in the week that was dificult to write, because of ...let's just go with "some things" I had to do to my favorite character...RARITY PLEASE FORGIVE ME AFTER THIS.
Wait, we can't stop here. This is parasprite country.
ReplyDeleteThese are words I needed to hear (or read, as it were).
ReplyDelete"National Pony Writing Month"?
ReplyDeleteWhat about people from outside USA? Are they not allowed to participate?
This should be an INTERNATIONAL event damn it!
Well if that wasn't a rather awesome inspirational speech.
ReplyDeleteSaved for future use ^^ Thanks you guys for making this, just watching it going on from the outside is inspiring.
Yeah, still stuck in the 4-digit range, so not going to be finished for NaNo.
ReplyDeleteStill...still going to finish it, but not sure if others would like...
@Kapten-N
ReplyDeleteIt's just a play on the yearly "National Novel Writing Month" event, which started out small and in only 1 country, so was simply "National" and they never changed the name since it was recognizable. Everypony can participate if they so choose, regardless of nationality.
Kkat does have two excellent editors, without them you'd see more typoes. Everyone needs an editor, even the awesomest.
ReplyDeleteO.o Okay, screw my homework, it's time to get in on this thing again! So what if I only have 7 days?! I only have to type about 7k words a day! No problem! It's finally time to explain just how Magical Trevor came to be!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pep talk! I'm on track at 42000 words, the only question is whether I'll be able to actually finish the story!
ReplyDelete@ponydoraprancypants That's my worry, now. When I started, I figured I'd have trouble passing 25-30k, since that was about the longest piece I'd ever written. But I cracked 41,000 last night and I'm on a pace to reach 60,000. It won't be submission-quality, but it's a first draft, so that's okay.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up, everybody!
Just reached 39k, but I'm all out of story... Guess I'll start editing.
ReplyDeleteSo Kkat is a girl?
ReplyDelete@Sharlan
ReplyDeleteEven with those editors Kkat still needs to go back and fix a couple things in the early chapters. The later chapters... not so much.
Bat country!?
ReplyDelete44K might seem good, but somewhere along the line I decided to fit about twice the main characters originally intended and several minor arcs, so.... I'm just going to say now, I'm not making it. This thing is going to hit 60K, possibly 70 after editing, and I don't have the time for that. If it was the summer, when I could pump out 30K a week in a good week, sure. But this isn't happening. Of course I'll release it belatedly, probably within the month of october, but that'll have to be good enough. It's still motivated me to make an epic piece I'd never imagined doing otherwise, and when it's done it should turn out excellent, but I'm sorry, my ambition overtook my abilities. I wish the rest of you the best of luck :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think my story will be complete by 50k words, but that is okay. My main goal is just to GET that many words.
ReplyDeleteI am somewhat behind (at about 31,000 words right now) but I think I can make it!
Thank you. I've actually hit a writing slump myself, and this has been inspirational.
ReplyDeleteAs for mortality, I owe a great deal to my group of editors. Without them, my story would be an embarrassment.
Now, to get Chapter 40 out before the month ends. -.-
@Kkat
ReplyDeleteOut of all the possible responses I could've gotten from this, that was probably the one I expected to see the least.
Huh.
