That was great, but it'd be really confusing to actually play. That bonus stage. Wow. It went from "side scrolling shooter" and then "CRAZY RHYTHM GAME" and then "dodge the Diamond Dogs while collecting gems" all with like zero transition whatsoever. Crazy.
Seeing this makes me wish I was born in the era of arcade games, even though I suck at Pac-man, Bosconian, Galaga, and Rally-X. I hate you, pink and cyan ghosts, always getting in front of me...
That was fun to watch but I feel like as a game that would suck! The bonus stage changed sparatically and the rest were just quick time events.... except the first part of the Nightmare Moon fight. Please someone make a shmup MLP... please. You could have some flying Segements with Rainbowdash, and her bullets would be rainbows. Maybe some animals that went mad attack Fluttershy and she shoots them with some sleeping dart instead of harming them. Rarity fighting off Diamond Dogs throwing gems or something. Pinkie Pie... yeah. Applejack throwing apples at... whatever you want. And of course Twilight versus Nightmare Moon like in this.
So please someone start coding this, but be sure to leave some room as I'm sure Dichord will be great for My Little Pony: Friendship Shmup Magic. And please do call it that... please.
Firstly, has anyone yet realized that this is not a real game (well duh, but hear me out) and that the bonus stage was just a medley of multiple possible bonus stages and that this was a video made to parody the show, as a game, not to showcase a game? everyone keeps dising the game mechanics like it was being made or something...
Great editing, it really resembles an old arcade game. I'd play it. Those are some abrupt genre shifts in the bonus stages, though. The bullet hell one looks fun.
One thing was bugging me the entire video: why are there dark lines across the picture? I know it's supposed to be a stand-in for "this was on a screen", but I have never seen that effect occurring anywhere in real life.

ReplyDeleteAwesome job there!
ReplyDeleteI would never stop playing...
ReplyDeletewhere is it
ReplyDeletePony game, yay.
ReplyDeleteGood idea...but i want more Beat'em Up and less Quick Time Event..
ReplyDeleteSo. Much. Epic.
ReplyDeletebutton mashing cinematics in video games always get me exited, and i would love to play a game like this.
ReplyDeleteFukin pass
ReplyDeleteThat was awesomely amusing. Music was fitting with the whole thing. I also loved the NMM laugh. It reminds me of The Count.
ReplyDeleteThough I can't imagine quick time events anymore without Heavy Rain.
I think make it less of a quicktime event game, and do the sidescrolling ideas more, and this would be an amazing game
ReplyDeleteDamn, that was pretty impressive.
ReplyDeleteoh, quick time events, is that what they're called?
ReplyDeleteReally bad game design, but a very clever fan video.
ReplyDelete<Snips&Snails>Saaweeeet!</Snips&Snails>
ReplyDeleteVery well done!
Great, one more amazing game missing from my childhood.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, that was mesmerizing. A wonderful job here, one of the best PMV I've ever seen.

ReplyDeletei don't have anything to say...
Of course Pinkie Pie would have the high score.
ReplyDeletei love the NMM voice over...ha ha ha xD

ReplyDeleteNot even seven seconds in and I LOL'd at "Clopcom"...
ReplyDeleteAll of my money
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome! Now I wish it really was a game.
ReplyDeleteI could actually make this into a game. :D
ReplyDeleteNice idea for me to make!
My bits. I give them.
ReplyDeleteThat was epic but the music was trying to kill me ears. . . not in a bad way but it sounded very aggressive. Also I wish this game was real.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome
ReplyDeleteI'd play it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Dragon's Lair on steroids!
I enjoyed the high score screen near the end. Apparently Pinkie Pie is the best at this game as she has a score of 99999.
ReplyDeleteoh my someone should make this into a game ASAP!
ReplyDeleteim throwing money at the screen nothing is happening
ReplyDeleteIgnore fluttershy -> no = win!
ReplyDeleteI want it. NOW.
ReplyDelete@razvan252
ReplyDeleteI'll definetely make one!

Yes Issa! Please make this!
ReplyDelete@ninto55
ReplyDeleteI'm actually trying to code this right now.
I want to like this, but I can't get past the fact that Seth referenced Zero Wing. Someone has set us up the pony.
ReplyDeleteNicely done vid, although I would have put "PLT" for the initials at the end.
ReplyDeleteBrain exploding out of back of head now.
ReplyDeleteI want to go to there.
That was awesome! I lol'd heartily at the NMM bullet hell shmup bit.

ReplyDeletealso, who is DJP in 4th place?
@Risky
ReplyDeleteDJ-Pon3
This proves yet again that ponies and retro go perfectly well together.
ReplyDeleteMy Little Pony: Quarters are Magic
ReplyDeletePress X to not die!
ReplyDeleteThat was amazing! Play again? YES!
ReplyDeletehttp://mylittle1up.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteWell this is Issa and I made a blogger blog about it so go there and follow! :D
I CAME
ReplyDeleteheh I was expecting something more of the lines of the Scott Pilgrim Game, but this works too.
ReplyDeleteIt's like a pony version of Dragon's Lair.
ReplyDelete@Altercation
ReplyDeleteI present to you: the remix levels in the Rhythm Heaven series
How has this not been made yet???
ReplyDeleteI would play the living love out of this game.
ReplyDeleteI laughed more than I should have at the end.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome. I'd play this.
ReplyDeleteAwesome video, it needs to be made. I like the Futurama shoutout at the end.
ReplyDeleteLooks fun, where can I play?
ReplyDeleteWait, what do you mean it's only a video?! :O
Great editing, it really resembles an old arcade game. I'd play it. Those are some abrupt genre shifts in the bonus stages, though. The bullet hell one looks fun.
ReplyDelete>implying capcom could make a game now that satisfied its fans
ReplyDeleteOH LAWD DO WANT
ReplyDeleteFriendship is magic is their mystic arte!
ReplyDelete=) ya i went there.
Anyone else here notice that at 0:33 Twilight says "Not unless we stop you!" when she should say "Not if we stop you!"?
ReplyDeleteI love quick time events! At least until i grow so frustrated I could just scream! maybe ponies can cure that
ReplyDeleteI like how Pinkie Pie had the highest score (all 9s)
ReplyDelete>yfw you lost almost all of your lives, trying to beat the manticore, then discover the fight was scripted.
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea though!
It's like the old FMV games on the Mega CD, only good!
ReplyDeleteI found myself reacting to the prompts as if I were standing in front of an old cabinet machine, should I be concerned?
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I was pissing myself laughing all the way through. I especially love the minigames.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... time to put these rusty C++ skills to work methinks. :P
Dude. Kickass.
ReplyDeleteTwilight Sparkle, Princess Celestia has been kidnapped by Nightmare Moon! Are you a bad enough pony to save the Princess?
ReplyDeleteawesome!!!
ReplyDeleteXD HOLY BUCK! Looks slick! *Does want*
ReplyDeleteShut up and take my quarters!
ReplyDeleteAvast!
ReplyDeleteNightmare Moon's laugh was just too perfect.
ReplyDeleteim throwing my bits at the screen but nothings happening, WHY IS NOTHING HAPPENING!!! HELP!!!!
ReplyDelete"press x to not die."
ReplyDeleteHahaha obligatory entering of ASS for the highscore board. Classic.
ReplyDelete@Twiggy
ReplyDeleteYeeeah, that one made me twitch o.@ a little . .
Then I told myself that it was obviously just poorly translated from the original Japanese ;)
I'm always a little disappointed when it's not a playable game because this really would be amazingly awesome. Breaks my heart a little.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, ignoring Fluttershy should never be an option >:(
One thing was bugging me the entire video: why are there dark lines across the picture? I know it's supposed to be a stand-in for "this was on a screen", but I have never seen that effect occurring anywhere in real life.
ReplyDelete@Roxor
ReplyDeleteOn a camera it would...
Clopcom, heh heh.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, THAT WAS SO INTENSE :D
I always hated quick time events >_<
ReplyDeleteOh hey guys, I'd just posted up my progress...
ReplyDeletehttp://mylittle1up.blogspot.com/2011/09/progressing-so-far-so-good.html
You can comment there for suggestions.
Pinkie Pie got max score O.O
ReplyDeletePretty awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh yes. I would play this in a heartbeat!
ReplyDeleteThis just takes me back...The interlace lines, the cabinet bubble perspective, the music, the syntheized voice...
This is art right there!
Game looks epic, cant wait to see My boss encounter!
ReplyDeletealso, lost it, and burst into tears laughing at _A_S_S save name.
I hate quicktime events...except in MLP games :)
ReplyDeleteI would play it. This is sheer epicness! We need something like this. It was so fun to watch, so frantic.
ReplyDeleteSo freaking good!!!!
ReplyDeleteBrings this brony back to the early 90's.
P.S the music kicked some serious butt!
You have met your match. No one can defeat me! Ha ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteBest part.
