ReplyDeleteAs a lot of others have already pointed out, this is actually a tricky (and funny) piece of URL manipulation. The product doesn't appear in the MLP storefront when you scroll through item by item, which should tell you that it isn't actually listed there. It can be further demonstrated that by extracting parts of the URL from an item from a different Hasbro store (like the X-Men section), that item can also be introduced into the MLP storefont template: http://tinyurl.com/3tfwy9z. Other examples have been provided by bronies above. So, while this is still very entertaining, it's almost certainly not Hasbro behind it. I hate to be the one to ruin it, though, and it's still pretty funny, so the question now becomes: who was clever enough to do it in the first place and send it for publication here?

ReplyDeleteI saw this link Sunday morning at around 11 AM central time. I watched the livestream when the whole Magneto thing went down during the singing of At the Gala. Hilarious... That means that there were less than 8-9 hours between my first notice of this link, and the magneto event. That's fast! I have to imagine it was up before 11AM for a time as well. I was amazed to see this pop up the way it did. Awesome!

lol for those of you who don't keep up with the bronyville stuff, the guys on the bronyville podcast did a 12 hour event stream, a full on, ponython of awesome, interviews with some of the staff of the show, the super pony beat guy, all that; and by the time they finally made their way to the grand gala episode, the annoying little magneto pop up that wouldn't leave had pretty much claimed its rightful spot at the peak of all internet memes. They even sung a parody of the Grand Galloping Gala song, ft Magneto. I just can't believe Hasbro actually propelled their awesomeness off of the magneto hype. This is tear jerking.

ReplyDeleteAlso, to everyone asking about what the hell this Magneto shit is about: A small ad featuring Magneto (hawking the new Xmen movie) kept popping up during the Bronyshow stream the other night, forcing them to repeatedly click off the add to make Magneto go away. They then began to sing the gala song with Magneto inspired lyrics and then cracked jokes about it like it was the most legendary thing ever. Sorry guys, I find funny things funny. Not this.
