Nothing spoilery in there, I don't think.
The mane six are clearly going to be learning how to trim shrubberies to best create a labyrinth. Or something. If this were Minecraft I'd be very tempted to take a flint and tinder to this whole thing. 1.8 is out, by the way. Go play it, it's awesome.
I put a break here because it adds a space between the end of the post and my author tag. It looks nicer that way.

FIRST!
ReplyDeleteSo it looks like the leak just got a little more plausible.
So, Anyone want to take bets on how long it takes someone to make this in Minecraft?
ReplyDeleteWow, they went from tons of chocolate rain and corn to suddenly this courtyard in Canterlot, it seems.
ReplyDeleteWelp.
Nice!
ReplyDeleteAlso, what happened to the page view meter? Did we break it? It just says "NaNefined".
"Why can't blogger hold all these pageviews?
Nevermind it's back to normal
ReplyDeleteMan, it wonders me how the previous pictures and now these courtyard pictures connect. Won't know until tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteSchool field trip, looks like.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking one of the schoolfillies sets Discord free.
Every pony statue in that courtyard is an earth pony except for that cupid look-a-like.
ReplyDeleteHmmm.
D:
ReplyDeleteThey're going into the hedge maze at the Overlook Hotel! Oh noooo! D:
That is just the creepiest reference XD
That maze is beyond stupidly big. Why would anyone make a maze that big?
ReplyDeleteNothing special here, does give some nice scale. Even Cheerilee looks small compared to those hedges...
ReplyDeletehow did we manage to mention shrubberies and not mention Monty Python and the Knights Who Say Nee
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else notice the layering error in the lower right hand corner? With the shrub and the tree.
ReplyDeleteI wish those statues represented characters that could appear. But considering one of them is a dupe, first, Celestia asked the sculptists to do the same statue twice, second. It probably won't be and it's just scenery. The dupe one looks sorta like Octavia...
ReplyDeleteAnypony else think that the statue that is holding the orange flag looks like Octavia with shorter hair on the back?
ReplyDeleteStay on topic Cereal.
ReplyDeleteThe one holding the flag looks like Octavia...
ReplyDelete...
...
OCTAVIA, HOW'D YOU GET STONED?!
XD
Hey, ith Twith!
ReplyDeleteInteresting. This picture is like a corner piece of a puzzle.
ReplyDeleteOn its own, it doesn't give away much. If you combine it with the two spoiler videos from earlier this week, however...
That maze looks really big
ReplyDelete@Joey Wonton
ReplyDeleteNo.
@Applejinx The Shining you say? I can never see a hedge maze without thinking of that movie.
ReplyDeleteThat hedge maze is big enough that they could spend the entire season trying to get through it. Unless that darker part in the background isn't actually part of it...
ReplyDelete@ThemsAllTook
ReplyDelete"That hedge maze is big enough that they could spend the entire season trying to get through it."
Good thing this is FIM and not Farscape.
I want to know where the rest of the class is. Where's Dinky, Archer, and all the other generic palette swap fillies? They're important characters, you know!
ReplyDelete@valion1 Aaaggghhh, my ears! Please don't say that word!
ReplyDelete1.8? Thought it was 1.9
ReplyDeleteCan't disagree with the awesomeness, though.
Snails and Twist canon now?
ReplyDeleteCMC, the Brats (DT&SS), Snips, Snails, and Twist.
ReplyDeleteNew school year = different set of ponies in each class?
@OminousBrony
ReplyDeleteMeh, that's nothing compared to MadMaze.
...
MadMaze? That game that was on Prodigy?
...
You know, Prodigy?? The internet service provider in the early 90s??
...
Fuck, I'm old.
Animation error in a teaser picture? Say it isn't so!

Yeah, if Discord was being kept imprisoned, what are all those other statues?
ReplyDeleteso, i'm going to go out on a limb with a prediction:
ReplyDeleteThose statues are to commemerate the former wielders of the Elements of Harmony. They were Celestia's friends and she created the statues in their memory.
@Tylendal
ReplyDeleteFuture badies. Reminds me of the ending of Baldurs Gate 1.
@A Weary Exile
ReplyDeleteAll three of them. Discord, remember? Takes more than one to quarrel.
@Tylendal
ReplyDelete5 statues + Celestia= the original Elements of Harmony.
@David Johnston
ReplyDeleteOops. I like that idea.
Dont stay on topic Cereal.
ReplyDeleteHedge Maze -> Alice Allusions, I betcha. Fits with the whole chaotic thing.
ReplyDeleteAs for the statues, there's two on one pedestal and a duplicate of the one near the entrance to the maze. I'm sort of doubting that it's the original Elements... There's fanfic potential there, though. What they did to get statues put there.
It's always about Minecraft with you, isn't it Cereal?
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that maze is going to be hell for our beloved ponies. I can't to see them spreading, getting lost, broken and disoriented. A nice hard ass beating before they rise and kick Discord back square on his face. Here's hoping for that with both fingers crossed!
This maze reminds me of Harry Potter.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to run that hedge maze, but I'd need to pack provisions for a month.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea that the statues represent the prior embodiments of the elements, but they don't seem to match up too well. Moreover, Nightmare Moon seemed caught off-guard that the ponies themselves represented the Elements of Harmony. She seemed to think smashing the stone balls was enough... so I'm not sure there was a prior group of 6 to defeat her the first time.
It'd be cool if the statues did represent something, but at the moment they just strike me as kind of generic backgroundy designs. Lots of repeated diamond elements, for instance.
I'm really interested in these statues ... who are these ponys ?
ReplyDeleteAre they the same pony ? (they all seem to be female)
Great fanfiction stuff, but some small official explanations would be great too.
>twitch, silver spoon and diamond tiara
ReplyDeleteallofmyrage.jpg
@Freekles1245 Glad to see I'm not the only one who's reminded of it.
ReplyDeletei creamed my pants at the sight of that hedge maze I WANNA SOLVE THAT SHIT
ReplyDelete@Cereal
ReplyDeleteUmm, could you not just hit Return a time or two?
Can't wait ....
ReplyDeleteMinecraft 1.8 is fun.
ReplyDeleteThat statues probably all represent an ideal of some kind, vigilance, creativity, reliability, etc. All the things that DisQord hates and gets his muddy little paw/claw/snake things...into. I'm sure Cheerilee will explain err'thang.
ReplyDeleteThat's one HUGE maze, I don't know if the CMC can handle it...
ReplyDelete"Cutie Mark Crusaders Maze Solvers!!!"
Although it definitely looks they're on some kind of school field trip.
The maze totally reminds me of:

Stupid invaders was the BEST and WORST thing at the same time. XD
@PS
ReplyDeleteIs it sad that I know what Farscape is? Is it even more so since my dad introduced me to it?
>Minecraft 1.8 is out
ReplyDeleteYeah, so's 1.81. AND CORRIE'S SERVER DOESN'T HAVE IT, SO I CAN'T PLAY
ALL OF MY RAGE
Someone will recreate this labirynth in minecraft
ReplyDeleteI have my RSS tracker on my google page! How did I hear about 1.8 from cereal and not notch???!!!
ReplyDeleteOn topic: Statues... hmmm...
The knights of ni demanded tribute of a shrubbery!
ReplyDelete@Harwick
ReplyDeleteI wasn't thinking that the original Elements defeated Nightmare Moon. I was thinking they defeated Discord in a time Luna was too young to remember. Besides, Nightmare Moon took a dive.
Aww.. Twist and Snails are together!
ReplyDelete@David Johnston
ReplyDeleteThe stained glass windows of Discord's defeat feature Luna with equal prominence to Celestia...
@Corkscrew
ReplyDeleteI must have some kind of amnesia, but what stained glass windows?
Also, the post is awesome and that maze is big as hell.
1 MORE DAY!!!
ReplyDeleteRemember, kids, only YOU can CAUSE forest fires.
ReplyDelete@bobmortar
ReplyDeleteThe stained glass windows seen in the first released Season 2 picture?
You know the ones that gave people their first glimpse at what Discord might look like?
@OminousBrony
ReplyDeleteIn mythology, the Minotaur was incarcerated inside The Labyrinth. But something tells me that this hedgemaze may have been Discord's castle.
Minecraft ftw.
ReplyDelete@Tylendal
ReplyDeleteI count six ponies in those statues (assuming that the one duplicate in front is accompanied by duplicates of the other statues on the unseen side of the maze)... Were these ponies the previous bearers of the Elements of Harmony who stopped Discord before I wonder?
so many strange teaser pictures, ah well all will be revealed with the season 2 premier
ReplyDeleteonly 16 hours left... :D

ReplyDelete@Corkscrew
ReplyDeleteYes, sir, I still don't know what the hell you're talking about. I re-checked the pics with the glowy blue thing and the throne room one (the two pics with glass windows) and I'm quite sure there's no Discord OR Luna on them.
Don't mind me, I probably should get used to not knowing what other bronies refer to. (e.g. I still don't get where does Lyra-on-a-bench come from)
CLASS FIELD TRIP YEEAAAAH
ReplyDeleteAre we sure that this is from the premier episode, though? It looks to me like it could be a separate episode entirely.
Then again, I suppose that I don't have much of an idea of how the premier's gonna play out since I've been avoiding Discord spoilers, so... *shrug!*
...HEY WAIT A SECOND! Since when are Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle part of Cheerilee's class?? Those ponies are SPIES!
@C.Olimar788
ReplyDeletemy guess is it's not a class or school trip, but a summer trip made by the school where Cheerilee works, so any filly or colt can join. Not only Scoots and Sweetie are off, but Snails and Snips too.
@bobmortar
ReplyDeleteLook closely at the windows here. Two of the windows depict Discord above a purple sun & moon. Two other windows show him being circled by Celestia (top) and Luna (bottom), apparently being turned to stone by them.
@bobmortar
ReplyDeleteAlso, origin of sitting Lyra
Very nice view of the landscape!
ReplyDeleteAnd I WOULD be playing Minecraft 1.8, but it suddenly won't accept my login! It's driving me INSANE only being able to play 1.7 offline when I want to play 1.8 so badly!
Technical difficulties keeping me from playing a game I've been waiting so long for. This better not happen with MLP Season 2!
@Jelfes
ReplyDeleteNee Nee Nee (Ad Naseum)
Woo! My pony collectible gift set just arrived. Holy palette swapping indeed. Now... where shall I put this?
ReplyDeleteit's the maze from Harry Potter 4
ReplyDelete@Beatfox
ReplyDeleteHorryy sheet thanks. I guess I need to get some glasses - I looked at that picture for like five minutes.
Thanks for the Lyra thing too.
Perhaps the most interesting thing to me is that here we have represenations from long ago of two ponies actually carrying weapons. We've never seen that before. Celestia's guard don't even wear weapons.
ReplyDeleteDarnit, guys! The season hasn't even started and we're already pointing out animation errors! We are bad.
ReplyDeleteFOR FORTRESSCRAFT!!!1!
ReplyDelete@OminousBrony
ReplyDeleteObsessive, rich, immortal pony princess; that's who!
*Celestia* Hmmm... I'm bored. Enlarge the maze again! *thinks* And send a few more of my subjects through it... to find the ones from last month. *trololololo*
That is one seriously large maze(it's strecthing over freaking rolling hills), I'd hate to be the groundskeeper for that.
ReplyDeleteGet on it, brohoof~
