Right now a few issues are popping up with chrome (slow load times primarily), but everything else seems to be working well.
Instructions: Click once to add a tag, click again to filter it. For multiple characters, simply select multiple characters. Pretty easy!
As with most things, if you see a story that either needs to fall into a specific category, or falls into the wrong category, toss an email to Sethisto@gmail.com

Lot of stories.
ReplyDeleteFirst! :D
ReplyDeleteThis is gonna be useful
ReplyDelete@Scootaloo789
ReplyDeleteFigures :/ Oh well, I love the archive! Really helps!
Whoa there's no 6-star stories with the Wonderbolts.
ReplyDeleteI will rectify this within four years.
It's been eleven years now. Where's that 6-star Wonderbolts story you promised us?
DeleteThis has brought to my attention the desperate need for a "bonbon lyra scootaloo" story.
ReplyDeleteYay now I can find what Im looking for much faster
ReplyDeleteWow, that's really easy to use. I like it.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is really useful, thanks for posting it Seth <3
>luna
ReplyDelete>6 star
good god
that's a lot of pony
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't load in chrome.
ReplyDelete1175! !SO MUCH PONY!
ReplyDeletefound my fics after 2 clicks. works great~
ReplyDeleteThis is going to make searching so much easier.
ReplyDeleteworks great
ReplyDeleteThis is excellent.
ReplyDeleteThere's seriously that many fics on the site?
ReplyDelete... Dear me.
this is great! really easy to use. btw i have chrome and there no problems for me
ReplyDeleteIt works, in case you didn't know already.
ReplyDeleteKeep the old archive too please, I don't like alphabetical ordering.
ReplyDeleteThat's heck a lot of fics there.. How many have I read? a dozen or two?
ReplyDeleteWell, at least with the star-needed criteria, Seth can easily figure out which stories have yet to be given a star rating in the tags.
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I run Aurora and Nightly (Firefox browsers that are pre-beta) and it takes a while to load though.
ReplyDeleteAnd then we were forced to look into the empty place where our souls once stood, and all that was left was far too many fics. God have mercy.
ReplyDeleteBeing able to click a single button and find all of the 6 star fics an alph. order is very handy. And hell if I feel like reading something sad then it's easy enough to add a filter.
This is very, very nice.
ReplyDeleteQuite a useful system, and much quicker to use than trying to scroll through the entire list to recall who's listed as the primary character.
ReplyDeleteThere's over a thousand fics? That's a lot more than I expected.
ReplyDeleteThe archiver works well, it's more efficient than the old ctrl+f method.
Oh my dear lord... How do I make a copy of all those stories onto my computer without having to go one by one? I need that library!
ReplyDeleteThis works pretty well. The one disadvantage is the possibility that a story hasn't been fitted with every appropriate tag. Example: a story tagged with "everypony" but not tagged with each individual pony, or vice versa.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! One of these days, once I've learned HTML, I wanna write code like this for EQD too...
ReplyDeleteI've written a wave equation simulator in C,and I know my way around Unix and ViM, so I don't think it's completely outside the realm of possibility.
The only real way to be sure that all stories have correct tags is to go through them one at a time. Lots of early stories don't have author tags, and star ratings do change. I personally am against giving older fics that have their star ratings drop a lower star rating, and I hope it never happens, but occasionally some fics I like have gained 6-star status when they used to be 5-star. Soooooo I dono.
ReplyDeleteDat huge list.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing
ReplyDeleteI love it
star-6 + complete - grimdark = 43 posts
ReplyDeletestar-5 + complete - grimdark = 138 posts
Oh my, I have a lot of catching up to do.
>6-star
ReplyDelete>celestia
Oh no no no, this won't do at all...
(Write what you wanna write, writefriends!)
Hi guys! I'm the author of this little filtering list thingy (even though I asked Seth to use my pony name *cough*). I'd love to keep working on it, so if you have any ideas for improvements or new features feel free to brainstorm and ask. I'll be checking back here to see if anything worthwhile pops up.
ReplyDelete@dwarfyz
ReplyDelete"It doesn't load in chrome."
Does this persist? It was developed in Chrome mainly, but tested in the other browsers as well.
@banannagram
ReplyDelete"Keep the old archive too please, I don't like alphabetical ordering."
What kind of ordering would you like? The categorized and sub-categorized one that was used on the old list? I could probably implement that fairly easily and allow you to switch between alphabetical and categorized views.
@Cyber.Kuriboh
ReplyDelete"This is great. I run Aurora and Nightly (Firefox browsers that are pre-beta) and it takes a while to load though."
I'm probably not going to be able to do much about the fact that it has to load and generate quite a lot of HTML to make the list. It consumes ram and bandwidth and it's only going to get worse the more stories we get.
I thought about putting a max on the displayed list to show max. 100 stories or so, but then we'd be unable to Ctrl+F in the final list.
Cutie Mark Crusaders Picture Potpurri! YAY!
ReplyDeleteVery Nice. I think I figured out how it works(without knowing any Javascript), but no idea how close I was.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, can PHP be used on blogger? I thought a while back I had looked it up and the answer was no, but I'd like to get back into practice and hopefully find a way to benefit the community if it does(may not be as clean as front-end javascript, but whatever gets the job done)
@Spectrum Speed
ReplyDeleteThis is a really kickass piece of Javascript. I'd love to chat about it if you ever have the time. I dug through the javascript and think I just about figured out how the blogger scraping works but I'd love to talk about the nitty grittys (knighty of fimfiction here)
@ShadeTail
ReplyDelete"This works pretty well. The one disadvantage is the possibility that a story hasn't been fitted with every appropriate tag. Example: a story tagged with "everypony" but not tagged with each individual pony, or vice versa."
Aye. Maybe some tags should automatically expand to include other tags as well?
Currently the list is fairly generic, since I wanted Seth to be able to use it in other sections as well; eg. for lists of comics, media, etc. So there's not much pony specific in it.
@Derpmind
ReplyDelete"The only real way to be sure that all stories have correct tags is to go through them one at a time. Lots of early stories don't have author tags, and star ratings do change. I specifically exclude author tags since they clutter up the filter box to the point where they make it useless. As for star ratings it's still just based on tags, so even if a posts actual star rating changes this list won't change unless somebody actually changes the tag as well.
@EpsillonXD
ReplyDelete"On a side note, can PHP be used on blogger?"
Nope. Which is why I had to do it entirely client side. Which has the downside that old or bad clients (or weird clients) might get no list at all. But that's the tradeoff.
@Spectrum Speed
ReplyDeleteNice work; this makes it fast and easy to sort through stories and find exactly what you're looking for. I think we all owe you a muffin. *dash salute*
The only problem I see with it is that soem of the tags are wrong on older stories, but that's whoever is in charge of the fic tags's problem not, yours. Thanks for this awesome tool.
Very useful! It'll help with my filing system.
ReplyDeleteI use Chrome and experienced no problems. It is easy and straight forward. I think this is a good system.
ReplyDeleteCool! Might be a good idea to reccomend newbies to go for 6-star/complete/Whatever else.
ReplyDeleteI'm using chrome right now and it works pretty well.
ReplyDeleteOK, this is weird. It worked fine at first, but now I'm getting an error message that javascript isn't active. I know it is, though. Anyone else getting this?
ReplyDeleteI'm using Safari, for what that's worth.
And now I've tested it in Firefox and I'm getting the same error message. Is anyone else getting this?
ReplyDeleteThe tags are really small, can you make them bigger, and more distinct from one another? It's difficult to pick them out, kinda.
ReplyDeleteUsing Chrome, no problems here.
This is better, if you know what story you're looking for. But if you're just looking for some Applejack fics or something, it's kind of worthless.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really good start. Could use a better look of course, looks very pragmatic right know.
ReplyDeleteBut I REALLY LIKE the idea !
I like the idea. For random, the description should just be "Pinkie". It could be improved with a main character filter.
ReplyDeleteOK, this morning, it's suddenly working for me again. Dumb computer.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this should be perma-linked on the front page, in the right-hand column.
This new Archiver is simply awesome.
ReplyDelete@Spectrum Speed
ReplyDeleteBeing able to arrange the list alphabetically, chronologically, and by release date would be nice. The only problem is that somepony needs to go through and tag the release date and the time period that the story takes place in.
i would have just liked a collapsable list. much easy to find what your looking for archive scrolling, imo
ReplyDelete@superdoodle2
ReplyDelete(Click Applejack?)
@Aragrist
ReplyDelete"Being able to arrange the list alphabetically, chronologically, and by release date would be nice. The only problem is that somepony needs to go through and tag the release date and the time period that the story takes place in."
Alphabetically it already does. Release date should be fairly easy since I think I already have that data, but just ain't using it at the moment.
By chronologically do you then mean like when in Equestrian time it's supposed to happed? Because that would probably require new tags :)
@ShadeTail
ReplyDelete"OK, this morning, it's suddenly working for me again. Dumb computer."
If it happens again could you please check if there's an error message somewhere and post it here if there is?
This goes for everybody who's getting actual errors that are not easy to reproduce actually.
And I don't mean the one in the red box, that's always gonna say the same. In Firefox you can go "Tools | Error Console" and then inspect the errors there. In Chrome you go "Tools | Developer Tools" and then click Console. In Internet Explorer you select "F12 developer tools" and click the Console tab. I don't have Safari so I don't know how that works, but there's gotta be something similar.
Why aren't there any fics shipping Nightmare Moon with Caramel? :(
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done, could use a little dressing up to look nicer. But over all you did a wonderful job Spectrum Speed.
ReplyDeleteGood Celestia. Being able to sort through all the fic this easily is going to kill all my free time.
ReplyDelete@Spectrum Speed I liked the old archives, which were basically random. I guess they were in order of date added, but really, who cares about that when you have an archive gong back 8 months.
ReplyDeleteI liked how there was not much influencing which fic you read out of the random fics. This archive is incredibly useful, but not in that way, so I say both stay, as it's like now.
Seth, if you read this, please realize how little reason there would be to remove the old archive. Just in case you were planning on it.
Great! My only gripe would be that it doesn't work from my iPod yet. That would make this literally perfect.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember the name of the genderbender fanfiction where the mane 6 get transported to another dimension where colts are in the majority? They get transported via a botched teleportation spell. ;-;
ReplyDelete@banannagram
ReplyDelete"I liked how there was not much influencing which fic you read out of the random fics. This archive is incredibly useful, but not in that way, so I say both stay, as it's like now."
Well I can certainly make a random/scramble/shuffle function :)
"Seth, if you read this, please realize how little reason there would be to remove the old archive. Just in case you were planning on it."
I think it might be more a case of not wanting to keep updating it tbh.
@Fissionprime
ReplyDelete"Great! My only gripe would be that it doesn't work from my iPod yet. That would make this literally perfect."
I'm gonna make it work on my iPhone soon / eventually. My guess is that means it will work on your iPod as well.
Thank you,
ReplyDeleteIts gonna shorten the amount of time I waste finding fanfics!
great filter options, i do miss the categorizing by character though
ReplyDeletei would love to filter shipping and find every fluttershy ship.
I'd like some of the filters to include some couples (e.g. Appledash, Twixie, TwiLuna, PinkieShy, etc.).
ReplyDelete@Spectrum Speed
ReplyDeleteI'm getting the red "you don't have javascript active!" box again. I can't figure out Safari to know if it is getting errors, but here is Firefox's error report:
$ is not defined
http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/09/eqd-super-simple-archiver-test.html
Line: 91
jQuery is not defined
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17173595/eqd-stories-auto.js
Line: 361
You know what would be great? A "death" tag. Too bad that'd be too hard to make happen...
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it uses an "exclusive-OR" for the rating selection, meaning it won't let me select both 5-star AND 6-star in a search - it keeps returning zero. When I remove one or the other it has results.
ReplyDelete@ShadeTail
ReplyDelete"here is Firefox's error report"
Thanks. Unfortunately that error is beyond me. I use a javascript library called jQuery, that should be included on all pages in eqd (all pages on blogspot tbh). If that hasn't loaded I can't really do anything about it :S
@Scorched Wing
ReplyDelete"It looks like it uses an "exclusive-OR" for the rating selection, meaning it won't let me select both 5-star AND 6-star in a search - it keeps returning zero. When I remove one or the other it has results."
It actually uses AND so what you're seeing is that you are not getting any stories that are marked as BOTH 5 star AND 6 star. You can get the effect you want be asking for stories that don't have star-2, -3, -4 or -needed tags.
I plan on spending some time during this weekend to improve on the list, and the star rating behavior is one of the things I plan to make more intuitive.
Mother of God... 1187 Fics.
ReplyDeleteSo hundreds of thousands of pages of fanfic have been written... I'm scared all of a sudden...
@Spectrum SpeedOh yeah, sorry, I forgot the option of inverse logic. *facehoof*
ReplyDeleteIt's been too long since I've had to use any boolean arguments.
Anyway, you've done a great job, thanks for doing this!
Allright settling in for a great pony weekend. This is my todo, roughly in order of importance:
ReplyDelete- Make the way star rating tags are handled more intuitive
- Bump the mane six to the front of the filter list
- Enable different sort methods: alphabetical, or by release date
- Look into categorization: the first mane six tag to be found is the "lead"?
- (Also remember last used sort and category mode using a cookie.)
- Enable loading filters from the querystring so you can link a specific search result
(eg. eqd-super-simple-archiver-test.html?c=shipping,fluttershy,-grimdark)
- iPhone/iPad support
- Do some simple tag expansion? Like "everypony" automatically means "applejack,rarity,rainbow-dash,fluttershy,pinkie-pie,twilight-sparkle" and "cutie-mark-crusaders" automatically means "scootaloo,sweetie-belle,applebloom".
- Adjustable font size?
First coding spree complete.
ReplyDeleteDONE
Star rating tags now behave a little differently from the rest. Hopefully in a more intuitive manner.
Complete and incomplete tags are mutually exclusive.
Bumped mane six up in a bracket of their own.
Automatic tag expansion: If a post doesn't have any star related tag it gets assigned the star-needed tag. This way star-needed actually means star-needed and nopony has to manually tag it with star-needed.
Automatic tag expansion: If a post is tagged everypony it also gets tagged the mane six names individually. So if you're filtering for applejack you'll also get the everypony stories.
Automatic tag expansion: If a post is tagged cutie-mark-crusaders it also gets tagged the three cuties individually. So if you're filtering for scootaloo you'll also get the cutie-mark-crusaders stories.
Bugfix: filtered tags (eg. author tags) now no longer create a gazillion empty links. End result: looks better on Internet Explorer.
NOT DONE
Categorization is not really possible with the way blogger handles labels. There's no way for me to know which pony is the lead character.
Nice. Found it easy to select what I was after (5/6 star complete scifi in this case). Works well on Safari (iPad), could perhaps do with a larger font to make finger picking easier, but that's no biggie (I can always zoom in!).
ReplyDeleteNow all I need is a way to automatically concatanate (sp?) multipart stories and export them as rtf...
DONE
ReplyDeleteBasic mobile theme "support". Meaning that it will now bypass the mobile theme and load the filter anyway. It is a bit heavy for older devices; my iPhone 3GS is usable, but laggy. Newer devices hopefully work better.
DONE
ReplyDeleteSwitched to Closure Compiler generated code for ~50% smaller script filesize.
Added support for direct links to specific filters. If you're using a modern browser (HTML 5 browser, like Chrome, FireFox, Safari, but not Internet Explorer) you will see the adress field updating when you select filters. This way you can copy/paste the link or bookmark it or whatever tickles your fancy.
Oh my, that is a lot of fics... but anyway, this is excellent. Props to Spectrum.
ReplyDelete@krakissi
ReplyDeleteKind of funny- the only one (Crimps and Prance) is 6-star. I think you're set with just that.
@Gadvac
ReplyDeleteHehe. That actually didn't show up when krakissi originally searched for it. But now, because I expand cutie-mark-crusaders to also imply scootaloo, it does!
CUTIE MARK CRUSADER ARCHIVE FILTER FIXERS! YAY!
I found a not-bug.
ReplyDeleteI was looking for 6-star Derpy stories, when I noticed "Memorial" is neither tagged as complete, nor as incomplete.
So yeah, while this isn't a bug, there are 1193 total - 356 complete - 366 incomplete = 471 fics with neither tag, though, so it should probably be noted.
(Also - this archive sorter is awesome! :D What language is it written in?)
@axlemn
ReplyDelete"So yeah, while this isn't a bug, there are 1193 total - 356 complete - 366 incomplete = 471 fics with neither tag, though, so it should probably be noted."
Aye. Unfortunately there's not an easy fix for this; manually reviewing every single of the 471 posts with neither complete or incomplete tags is the only way :/
"(Also - this archive sorter is awesome! :D What language is it written in?)"
Thanks. It's written in JavaScript and uses the jQuery library.
DONE
ReplyDeleteImproved base filtering a bit to prevent various live reading duplicates and other "this is not actually a story post" cases. (Removed roughly 20 posts from the archiver.)
So sad...
ReplyDeleteI actually cried D:
@Spectrum Speed
ReplyDeleteI considered that too, and I just meant adding in a line somewhere in the description so nopony misses anypony's fic 'cause not everypony reads the comments.
So many pony pronouns...
OK, I am getting seriously annoyed by this. It works on one session, and then it stops working on the next. And then it starts working again, and then it stops working again. This is completely ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteThe only message in Firefox's error console now is:
$ is not defined
http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/09/eqd-super-simple-archiver-test.html
Line: 91
It worked on mobile yesterday, now it doesn't again. It says that thing about JavaScript and mobiles and stuff. It's the same in mobile and normal theme.
ReplyDeleteHm. I wonder if Dropbox is the culprit. (Right now the javascript code resides in my personal Dropbox. It might be getting more traffic than Dropbox is okay with.)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how to debug this...
Well, I finally figured out how to make Safari's error console work, and it gave me a lot more info than Firefox did. It seemed to be saying that it couldn't load that URL where jquerry comes from (googleapis). So I opened my router control panel and made sure it was instructed to always let that URL come through. And now this is working again, at least for the time being.
ReplyDeleteSo unless it stops working for me again, it appears that the trouble was at my end. Although I'm not sure why googleapis would have been restricted from my terminal in the first place. Stupid computers.
No story starting with Zecora in it's title?
ReplyDeleteWe're missing X and Z here it's just not a complete alphabet of stories.
Quick suggestions.
'Xylaphones with Vinyl Scratch'.
'Zecora's "insert title here"'.
@ShadeTail
ReplyDeleteWow that is pretty strange. I have no idea why anybody would restrict googleapis, but if it was that would explain it.
Who wants to start putting together a library of pony fiction in various ebook formats that's comprised of completed works? My biggest complaint about most of the fan fics is that the authors are putting them out chapter by chapter making it hard to find a finished book. I want to gather all the completed pieces into one library. Is anypony else interested in trying to do such a thing?
ReplyDelete*6 star*
ReplyDelete*Twilight Sparkle*
50 entries
It's official. Twilight is best pony.
It would be really nice to have completed stories marked as such, or a list of completed stories.
ReplyDelete1200 ding
ReplyDeleteI liked the old archive :(
ReplyDelete@Th3OriginalGing3r
ReplyDeleteClick "complete"
@Sethisto
ReplyDeleteAh! Thanks, I should have been able to figure that out myself...
Works on my iPod!
ReplyDeleteYesyesyesyesyesyes!
Nice job! This will make finding fics easier.
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion would be to list stories beginning with "A", "An", or "The" by the second word in their title rather than their first. Because it's not always easy to remember if a story title began with "A" versus "The", and that just leads to a lot of scrolling around.
So, is there an actual link for this somewhere on the site? I needed my buddy to give me the link cause I couldn't find it anywhere...
ReplyDelete@GoldenArbiter
ReplyDeleteRight-hand column, near the top.
When I select a star-rating, it auto-selects that rating and every rating above it. It should not do that. It should only show the rating(s) I select myself. So, when I click star-4, it should only show 4-star stories, not all of 4, 5, and 6. And if I click both star-4 and star-2, for example, it should show only 2-star and 4-star stories. But as it is, it would show all of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
ReplyDeletePlease bring back the old archive. I do not like this at all.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/01/story-archive.html
ReplyDeleteOld story archive if anyone wants it.
Seth Y U no update both?
@ShadeTail: thanks man.
ReplyDeleteNot enough shipping IMO :-P
ReplyDeleteI am currently writing a shipping fan fic and would like somepony to proofread it before I submit it.
ReplyDeleteI want a dawww or HRGHGH tag
ReplyDeletetwilight sparkle would be a great promoter for KINECT as both are themed purple.IF there's a My Little Pony game.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem I have with this system is that you have to go to the individual story's page in order to see the summary.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I find FF.net's way of listing stories to be more effective and helpful in finding a story to read.
@Spectrum Speed
ReplyDeleteHey Spectrum,
I've been trying to access the new story archive and it won't load. I've updated my javascript, restarted my computer and done everything else under the sun to try to get it to load, but it won't. It was loading for me about three days ago and then stopped suddenly.
Im using Firefox if you need to know.
What should I do to get the story archive working?
@anendlessepidemic
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem about a month ago. I figured it out by opening my browser's error console, reloading the page, and seeing which errors popped up. If I recall correctly, Firefox's error console is in the 'Tools' menu.
For what it's worth, my problem turned out to be that my browser was being forbidden from loading googleapis.com, which hosts a very important function that this archiver makes use of. Once I found that out and forced my router to let googleapis.com come through, it started working immediately. I haven't had any problems since then.
Of course, you shouldn't assume that you're having the same problem I did.
Not nearly enough TwiLuna!
ReplyDeleteZing!
ReplyDeletei dont know about the rest of you ponies but i can't figure out this new system at all. i liked it better when it was split up into the individual characters. then i at least new who each story was about
ReplyDeleteIt wont load for me.. T_T
ReplyDelete@foxynaia: When the archiver loads, just click on the name of the pony (or ponies) you want fanfiction about, and there you go. The whole point to this thing is that you can sort the stories however you want, including regarding which characters appear.
ReplyDelete@The unknown Rainbow Dash: Scroll just four posts up and read my reply to anendlessepidemic.
just wondering...would it be possible to add tags to search by Deviantart or googledocs?
ReplyDeleteat work i have access to one but not the other and it would be a great help
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAlright, trying this again, remembering not to use characters that look like html code...
ReplyDeleteAre the stories tagged "Friendshipping" included under "Shipping", or is there a way to view those separately? I noticed that tag wasn't listed in the filter options.
This is.................GR8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's borked right now, waiting for a fix!
ReplyDeleteEr, nm, looks like it fixed itself
ReplyDeleteGuys, code is scary
Everypony please read PAST SINS... you wont regret
ReplyDeleteWell, actually, feel free to follow BlackStar03's advice immediately above, but it really isn't that good. The plot itself is well thought out, but the prose is thick and often redundant. Scenes often last twice as long as they should because the author just repeated the same stuff twice or even three times in a row. A good editor could probably have cut out at least a quarter of the story just by removing all those redundancies and unnecessary verbiage.
ReplyDeletePast Sins needs a massive rewrite before it could really qualify as good.
^^Don't listen to the haters...read and decide for yourself!
ReplyDelete^^ I would say "don't listen to the fanatics who pretend that constructive criticism is "hate"," but read and decide for yourself is decent advice. Just be prepared for a long slog through poorly written prose.
ReplyDeleteAnd while you're at it, also take note of which of the two of us is taking a balanced approach to the story. Hint: It isn't the person immediately above.
Oh. My. God. I knew there were lots of fics out there.. But over a thousand and a half?.. I'm going to need more cookies.
ReplyDeletewoah. has anyone written a trixiexapplejack?
ReplyDeleteWhat no SorenxTwilight! I. AM. DISSAPOINT!!!!
ReplyDeleteHmm, that's odd, my "Photo Shoot" isn't showing up here, even though it was in the original archive...
ReplyDelete@ItsTheWhinyGuys
ReplyDelete"Labels: Author: ItsTheWhinyGuys, Complete, Photo Finish, Rarity, Star-4"
It's missing the Story tag. You should mail Seth to get that fixed.
Read Upheaval: Breaking Point. I know, it's not even five stars, but just do it.
ReplyDelete(It should be though? 4.5 rating with 92 rates... :s)
This is becoming cumbersome to use.... I want some general Rarity/Fluttershy shipping, so I click rarity and fluttershy and shipping, and half the stuff I get isn't even their shipping. I don't really like this.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of Discord fics is disturbing. =\
ReplyDeleteThe Games We Play should be posted on here. First Mare do Well fic and it's really good. It's on fanfiction.net
ReplyDeleteMay I ask why can't I find Rainbow Factory here ?
ReplyDelete@Askaniz
ReplyDeleteSeems like the Rainbow Factory story isn't posted on eqd.
Spectrum needs to work on Opera support, mostly desktop Opera, as Opera Mini works fine.
ReplyDeleteThose of you wondering why such-and-such story isn't here...
ReplyDeleteUh, because the author never submitted it here, obviously. If you want to see it here, drop a note to the author that they should send it in. And tell them that they'll find instructions for doing so by clicking the lavender tab at the top of the page that says "SUBMIT".
Overall, I don't mind the system as it is now. Admittedly, it has some problems, such as the large amount of false positives when looking for a particular ship, as Crow stated above, but that has to do more with a lack of data in the label system. Unless someone decides to go through all the shipping fics and add labels for each specific ship (not a quick task), it's something we're stuck with.
ReplyDeleteShipping: Stories that involve romantic relationships between _one_ or more Ponies.
ReplyDeleteYou mean "between two or more ponies"? Or is there a fic where a pony has romantic relationships with theyself?
@LinesPrower
ReplyDeleteWell sort of. I forget the name, but I remember reading a fic where the ponies got transported to a parallel dimensions where all the genders where swapped and both Rarity and Fluttershy had some... interesting... relationships.
@Spectrum Speed
ReplyDeleteIs it "On A Cross And Arrow"?
I notice a distinct lack in Twiscord shipping. You know what to do, bronies
ReplyDelete@Scootaloo789
ReplyDeleteYour failed first shall forever live on in infamy. You desecrated the archive!
i ahve been scarred for life after reading sweet apple masscare....macintosh was one of my favorite stallions...
ReplyDeletefanfic: something top read just like a trap...you dont know what itll be about....
ReplyDeleteUm does this mean there wont be any updates to the pony fic checklist?
ReplyDeleteI just read 3 stories in a row in which the tree housing Twilight's library was crashed into, blown up, or otherrwise largely-destroyed. What conflicted feelings about Twilight's library drive this strange brony compulsion, and what would Freud say about it?

Dammit.

ReplyDeleteDid you try again later? It's working fine for me now...
Does anyone know if there's any Western fanfics? Specifically on the similar lines of True Grit?
ReplyDeleteThis actually works on my windows phone. Very very slowly, but it works.
ReplyDeleteIf your wondering what story you should read next I suggest the Equestrian Book Club.

Does anyone happen to know of a fanfic where Trixie uses a pendant or something to swap lives with Twilight. I've been looking high and low for it, I remember it was on fanfiction.net but other than that I can't remember anything else, besides from Trixie renaming Spike but I can't remember that either anybody happen to know this fanfic?
ReplyDeletei liked the old way where it had the ponies name and the fanfics where better organized it was much easier to find what i was looking for.
ReplyDelete@LinesPrower
ReplyDeletePicking up a train of thought I left dormant for 4 months I finally remembered: It was On A Cross And Arrow. Was a fun read!
I think the Archive broke.
ReplyDeleteBlogger has been derpin today. The archive still works, when Blogger decides to actually serve the lists it uses, so the problem will probably go away on it's own.
ReplyDelete(However maybe I should update the code to be a bit more robust in these cases? Should be possible to at least display the stuff that I have received...)
Well its working now so... Good Job?
ReplyDeleteWell I didn't do anything yet.
ReplyDeletei need a new phone i really miss reading fanfics on the go ;_;
ReplyDeleteThis needs to be refined.
ReplyDeleteFeed is broken.
ReplyDeleteWell it fixed itself as it is wont to do.
ReplyDelete>:O Why can't I read on my iphone anymore!? Dear sweet jesus of #PONITIME FIX THIS.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNeed to add Chrysalis and Changeling to this asap btw! I need to search me some "Smoke and Mirrors" fic STAT! Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy and a changeling named Mirror. This story better be on EqD! If not your pre-readers are seriously slacking! XD
ReplyDeleteHow come the stories have ratings, but I see no way to rate a story?
ReplyDeleteY u no work on iPhones anymore :(
ReplyDeleteY u no work on iPhones anymore :(
ReplyDeleteAgain I ask: How come the stories have ratings, but there's no way to rate the stories? Also, now I can't even log in. How does this freaking site WORK? There isn't even a FAQ, let a lone a forum. I had to use a livejournal profile to make a comment - there's no way on this site to make an account and leave a comment!
ReplyDeleteEqD absolutely positively needs a forum.
can you fix the chrome issue?
ReplyDeleteThere is no Chrome issue. Seth was just too lazy to remove that bit once we went live. The script hasn't changed for nearly a year now.
ReplyDelete@shagbark: Older stories have ratings because there used to be a rating system on EQD. This has since been disabled on the site, but the ratings are still present as tags on the stories. (I suggested removing the star-rating-tags from the archive interface, but it was decided to keep them.)
ReplyDelete@Andrew Peterson Uhm... it's right there?
ReplyDeleteOkay, so like 8 months ago, this stopped working in my Droid. It used to work, buut stopped. Do you have any idea why, or how to fix it?
ReplyDeletePlease?
@Ponitus Prime
ReplyDeletePretty please? I'd love you forever.
Also, they got rid of the star system? Why??? How can I judge the massed opinion otherwise? /slightly joking
@Ponitus Prime
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but I have no idea. The script hasn't changed at all since it went live, so I guess the best bet is that something changed on your droid? I don't have access to a droid myself so I can't test it out for you unfortunately.
As for the star system: I do not know why that decision was made.
@Spectrum Speed Oh well. At least you responded. It was probably some stupid OS update or something … Drat this technology!
ReplyDeleteBut thank you for responding.
Ñam
ReplyDeleteStill broken on iPhone....
ReplyDeleteUmmm guys, can you help me find a fic?
ReplyDeleteIt's supposed to be in luna/trixie/oc search results, but I can't find what I need.
The fic is about a guy who wakes up and finds out he is in Equestria, and moreover, he is a pony (unicorn, black/grey body, orange mane and tail, special talents - fire magic).
Please? Anyone?
Sounds like Through the Eyes of Another Pony (http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/08/story-through-eyes-of-another-pony.html).
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't seem to have any of the obvious tags (Luna, for example), so that's probably why you're having a hard time finding it.
Yes! Yes this is the one! Thank you so much!
