I think Trixie ruined her own life. She wasn't willing to accept that Celestia would have more than one personal student. And when she didn't get her way, she made the decision on her own to run away. That's my interpretation, at least.
Actually, Trixie couldn't stay and study under Celestia because rather than hatching the egg, she tried replacing it with a fake hatched egg, but you can't trick the judges with smoke and fake eggs.
This comic makes me think that this Celestia will abandon Twilight if a new, better magician comes into the picture.
Although, Trixie is nowhere near powerful enough to grab the Princess' eye. She'd be an excellent magician, of course, and probably got a nice mentor, but not Celestia.
And I am totally not biased because Twilight is my favourite pony.
Gah. This just annoys me. Yeah, let's all have some artificial sympathy for Trixie. Nothing like this happened, I think. She was always just a fake showpony from the beginning.
Umad, bro? Seriously, chill. It's fanon, and could easily have happened if a few details were tweaked or a bit of explaining were done in-universe. Is the existence of this comic hurting you?
Oh, the amount of effort parts of the fandom go to redeem Trixie (and even Blueblood) by turning THEM into the victims. Really, why can they not be just bad?
I always liked Trixie's character but for different reasons. This just changed everything though. I like her a whole lot more with this piece of depth. I hope we get to see her in the second season sometime.
Well its not as bad as the "A Test of Strength" noir comic where Celestia verifies Twilight's magical talent by sending a spec-ops team to kill her parents.
Excuse you? I'll thank you to keep your condescending lectures to yourself. Why should I *not* get annoyed by a cheap and heavy-handed attempt to make a not-so-nice person into the victim of the piece?
This might make me feel bad for Trixie, but honestly I just can't see Celestia acting like this. That rather large bit of out-of-character-ness (it's a word) just prevents me from feeling anything about this. Sure, there's the explanation that Celestia was explaining to Trixie that she'd be willing to take her on, she'd just have to share the spotlight with Twilight, and Trixie wouldn't accept that...but that just makes her seem like an even bigger jerk.
Besides which, I'm in the camp that says sometimes the antagonists are more fun when they're not tragic or sympathetic, they're just plain jerkasses.
The artist said that Celestia wasn't choosing Twilight over Trixie; Rather, she wanted to tutor both personally, at the same time, as equals. Trixie wan't willing to share the spotlight with anypony though, she felt betrayed, so she ran away.
Going by the artist's story, I have no more sympathy than I did starting out (which is exactly none). She's a selfish, stuck-up, arrogant ass. Excuses don't really change that- it's her choice to act like that.
(I really hope she doesn't turn up in season 2. Once was more than enough.)
Wouldn't It Be cool If They Had Trixie back along with Gilda and they would make some sort of Negative 6(as Opposed to the Mane/Main 6)with other antagonist like characters that would probably appear in season 2
I wonder how many people hate me for LOVING Trixie's misfortune? (I wonder how many people realize this is the... [SPOILER] end to The Regal Dream? I bet you read the spoiler and didn't read the fanfic. LOLUMAD)
I can see this as a possible backstory for her. No doubt she's going to be even more pissed once she realizes that the fillie and Twilight are one and the same.

aww.... i laughed a little at her misfortune. I'm a terrible person.
VastaKustutaTrixie keeps getting more adorable!
VastaKustutaYay Trixie! Here's to the hope that she gets more screen time in S2.
VastaKustutaWow, that... changes everything.
VastaKustutai would hate Twilight too,but im sure Celesias heart would be big enough for 2 sutdents
VastaKustutalike more the comic where Trixie is actually Luna hehe, Trixie=Trickster godess lol
Dammit Twilight, why'd you have to go and ruin Trixie's life...twice!
VastaKustutaLet's hope she's back for S2
VastaKustutaI heart Trixie now.
VastaKustutaOh come on. why does everypony think i'm so mean?
VastaKustutaIt would have been possible to have more than one student.
*cries*
(stop making me feel sorry for Trixie)
blank flank Trixie?
VastaKustutaDamnit, now I feel sorry for Trixie D:
VastaKustutaAlso, I'm certain everyone has noticed her teeth are miscolored, right?
There goes Trollestia ruining someponies life for no good reason.
VastaKustutaStrangely enough i had always imagined that something like this had happened.
Oh... Oh my...
VastaKustutaSeth, Filly 1 took a poll and a lot of us want Trixie back in season two, so why do you torment us with such sadness?
Grrr my phone wont let me load it... freezes my browser every time.
VastaKustutaI think Trixie ruined her own life. She wasn't willing to accept that Celestia would have more than one personal student. And when she didn't get her way, she made the decision on her own to run away. That's my interpretation, at least.
VastaKustutaTrixie should be Twilight's rival.
VastaKustutaI would totally "CANON-ize" that story :0
VastaKustutaPoor Trixie T___T
I actually see her origin story like this! Good work.
VastaKustutaActually, Trixie couldn't stay and study under Celestia because rather than hatching the egg, she tried replacing it with a fake hatched egg, but you can't trick the judges with smoke and fake eggs.
VastaKustutaOh wow.. poor girl. D:

VastaKustutaThis made me like Trixie sooo much more.
VastaKustutaWell. There is always the possibility to grow. With power and hunger for vengeance. Not as a person ;)
VastaKustutaThis comic image must be HUGE because I can't even get a glimps of it without my iPod crashing to the home screen.
VastaKustutaComic has been edited for color, and cutie mark errors.
VastaKustutaUpdate: http://www.deviantart.com/download/258755970/trixie_s_story_by_matrix541-d4a21du.jpg
I had the same problem on my iPod, but I got it to work eventually. Wow, I kinda feel sorry for Trixie.
VastaKustutaAfter realizing I have to wait for the follow-up of the premier episode I didn't think I could get more sad...
VastaKustutaWell Seth, you did it again.
@ShadeTail
VastaKustutaUmad, bro? Seriously, chill. It's fanon, and could easily have happened if a few details were tweaked or a bit of explaining were done in-universe. Is the existence of this comic hurting you?
No?
Then why get annoyed at it?
PC is so mean
VastaKustuta... Trevor does NOT approve of Celes's actions!
VastaKustuta*Has read so many Trixie stories that he's not sure which one is the most moving*
Need some ice for that burn Trixie?
VastaKustutaOh, the amount of effort parts of the fandom go to redeem Trixie (and even Blueblood) by turning THEM into the victims. Really, why can they not be just bad?
VastaKustutamrscrib
VastaKustutaI agree.
That...would make a good story.
VastaKustutaMy only problem with this is that Trixie doesn't act like she knows Twilight in the episode. Also the implications about Celestia.
VastaKustutaI always liked Trixie's character but for different reasons. This just changed everything though. I like her a whole lot more with this piece of depth. I hope we get to see her in the second season sometime.
VastaKustuta@mrscrib
VastaKustutaYou got it all wrong. Trixie does not need redeeming, for she didn't do anything wrong.
@mrscrib
VastaKustutaBecause it's boring and uninspired and sympathetic characters are much more interesting than plain villains.
@DoctorWhooves
VastaKustuta"Unfortunately, I can only have one protege. That is why you two must fight to the death."
@SparkleFun
VastaKustutaWell its not as bad as the "A Test of Strength" noir comic where Celestia verifies Twilight's magical talent by sending a spec-ops team to kill her parents.
Poor Trixie, that doesn't seem like the Celestia we know, also I think Trixie's had enough blue-raspberry slushie.
VastaKustuta@DoctorWhooves Celestia can share, and Twilight can share, but I don't think Trixie can. Which just makes her sadder.
VastaKustutaMeh. I'm generally okay with trying to make the villains sympathetic, but not by making the heroes villainous.
VastaKustutaThat explains her backstory at least.
VastaKustutaTo all of the people wishing Trixie would be in season 2:
VastaKustutaSHE IS -> http://i.imgur.com/tgey2.png
I think trixie is more fun if she doesn't have a reason to be annoying/arrogant. I like to think she's just that kind of pony.
VastaKustutaWell, we'll see what happens in season 2.
VastaKustutaTrixie shut down my internet for a good thirty minutes. Only another reason to despise her.
VastaKustutaAnd then the comic finally loaded.
...
I recommend updating the post so that it links to the corrected version posted by @Romelion Alarconis.
VastaKustutaJust sayin'
Twi made a really weird face in that one panel. o_o
VastaKustutaAww, poor Trixie. I feel sad for her. :(
VastaKustutaAnd Twi's face in that one panel is hilariously weird.
Thanks Seth for updating the comic to its final form!
VastaKustutaDamn it, Celestia, no wonder Trixie hates Twilight!
VastaKustutaThe comic, it explains everything!
VastaKustuta@Xort
VastaKustutaExcuse you? I'll thank you to keep your condescending lectures to yourself. Why should I *not* get annoyed by a cheap and heavy-handed attempt to make a not-so-nice person into the victim of the piece?

VastaKustutaOkay, good. As long as the point wasn't some more of that Trollestia nonsense.
VastaKustutaGoing by the artist's story, I have no more sympathy than I did starting out (which is exactly none). She's a selfish, stuck-up, arrogant ass. Excuses don't really change that- it's her choice to act like that.
VastaKustuta(I really hope she doesn't turn up in season 2. Once was more than enough.)
EWWWWWWWWWWWW TRIXIE STORY. DO NOT WANT.
VastaKustuta@Moonshine
VastaKustutaYOU. You are a true pony among bronies.
Wouldn't It Be cool If They Had Trixie back along with Gilda and they would make some sort of Negative 6(as Opposed to the Mane/Main 6)with other antagonist like characters that would probably appear in season 2
VastaKustutaI don't like her but sad D:
