I can't imagine what would happen if they ditched their pre-teen girl target audience and started catering to the bronies exclusively. Shit would get real.
There are certain things I've learned to expect of fiction, and especially fanfics. When two characters that are around each other a lot get into a heated argument, a make out will always ensue. Expecting this does not make it any less funny.
You know, stuff like this is why I'm having an excruciatingly hard time avoiding accidental inuendos in my NaPoWriMo fic. Whenever I have RD and AJ in the same scene together I'm always painfully aware every time anything that could be even remotely construed as sexual turns up in the way I phrase something.
Hell, there's at least 4 different innuendos I spotted in that paragraph!
Lucky it's a kids show.. if it was (somehow) for older audiences, they'd be bloody cheating on each other every week just to get *gasp*s like any TVshows..
Oh, hell no. I was loving it, but then you had to throw in the shipping. That's the one thing I hate about the fandom and why I don't want the creators to be catering specifically to bronies. Shipping everywhere, no limits, doesn't matter if it even makes sense or not. Especially this ship. These characters had like 5 or 10 seconds of airtime each, no character development, and not even names. Despite this, however, the fandom is convinced that they are an item. Bugs the hell out of me. Smh...
What do you mean by "they are an item"? As far as I'm convinced, they are items, in terms of we can characterize them in any way we we want to. You don't have to ship them; a lot of people do because they find it amusing.
I actually think it's easier to ship ponies (Lyra+Bonbon, Octavia+Scratch) that don't have characterizations, because there is no reasoning in place to say that they can't be together. I mean, come on; is Raripink (or whatever the fandom wants to call it) plausible? Not really, though many people have fun trying.
Oh god that was hilarious, I mean I kinda expected that outcome but it still got me in the end. Had family over for dinner at my place and they all couldn't figure out why I was laughing so hard at my phone.
I'm adding Octavia and Scratch to my list of 'acceptable' ships. Which brings the number on that list up to....3....XD
Pfft, no matter what the haters say...it's an adorable pairing and makes for good smiles.
Also - Fanon pairings DO NOT EXIST...we all actively know the pairings wouldn't ever take place. It's done because people like screwing around and having fun with it, not because of some misguided notion that the shipping takes place in the show.
Why rain on their parade? It causes no actual long-lasting harm and is entirely ignorable
I know where you're coming from, but it's a lot easier and funner if you just chill and roll with it. That's what I've done, and I'm having a lot more fun with the fandom than I otherwise would.
Seriously?? The ending is such a huge logical jump, just so we can see another scene of two ponies in bed together after sex?? It wasn't even an original or funny joke, because that's not even how relationships work! What the fuck guys, this fandom is getting seriously weird to me, and a lot harder to explain to other people.
100% agree. I don't see why it bothers people so much. I used to browse around with fanfic mode off, but your really missing half the fandom if you aren't reading the literature.
Its completely for fun and giggles. Don't see why bronies of ALL people on the internet have a problem with it.
@BalaklavaPony Seriously, you've never seen this used in any other form of media? Love to hate? Its hardly shipping. Its just a silly comic. I can't believe how serious people get about My Little Pony sometimes.
Also, most of us writers do it for this thing called "fun," where, in all honesty, we write the stories we want to tell, we put them out to the brony community, and they yay or nay it. (Not doing the pun guys.) XD
If you don't like shipping, don't read or look at it.
even though i normally hate shipping, i irl rofl'd
about the kids show thing... yeah, kinda embarrassing, but I realized that MLP is (and kinda always has been) more of a "universe" and the show is one aspect of it. kinda like star-trek or star wars (off the top of my head). likely adds to the appeal. That's why i kinda support OC and bg character focus more than mane 6. I feel the show is about the mane 6, we fill the rest of the universe with whatever we want.
Blank canvas, and Hasbro gave us free-reign of the finger-paints, bronies.
Although, as an advocate of VinylTavia shipping, (for obvious reasons,) my opinion is a bit biased. However, we're free to mould this fanon into whatever we want, and Ocs help that.
How dull would fanfiction be if shipping and OCs were banned? It'd suck horrifically, or be massively out of character alot.
They would never pander to the bronies like that lol. They will give us shout outs like in the adds on TV and such, but nothing that big. That first one is fricken hilarious, Twilight would be a fan girl like that!
I also, liked it when there was a less implausible amount of lesbians, but I'll tell ya, it's retarded to not expect this to happen. And even in real life, there are at least one person in a large group who's a homosexual or something.
(also, saying "that's the one thing I hate about this fandom," is starting to get old... Hearin it too often. yknow)
@Anonymoose Heavens forbid... to cater solely to brony audience is to invite disaster into the mortal realm. so much internet would slip in. oh god, the memes...
While I must confess that in the past I haven't been overly enamored with Octavia (Scratch has always been chill enough), I am happy to say this comic has me rethinking my previous feelings. That was far too hilarious, and the expressions were brilliantly executed. I am now happily converted!
Them insulting each other was so funny and witty. Wonder what they were saying to each other during the whole... time in bed. oh god shut me the fuck up, that was disturbing.
It seems that Celestia poured all available funds into her school for gifted unicorns and the music school got the short end of the stick. I mean, they don't even have a background.

ReplyDeleteWell executed comic indeed <3
That's ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteThat sure was a harmonic sleep-over.
ReplyDeleteThat´s... new
ReplyDelete``And I will leave my goggles on'' - `Oh Vinyl Scratch - A Fan Fiction'
ReplyDeleteSeen this one before. Still makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteAnd to DJ's comment... I DID! :3
>Release a kids show with awesome animation/characters.
ReplyDelete>Army of 20somethings picks up on it
>Awesome kids show is no longer a kids show
This makes nothing but complete sense, but that's half the fun now, *puts on sunglasses* deal with it.
teehee hee.
ReplyDeleteawesome.
Angry sax?
ReplyDeleteAngry sax.
oh lulz
ReplyDeleteThat was classically awesome.
ReplyDelete...pretty much
ReplyDeleteI totally didn't see that coming lol (I really did laugh out loud)
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what would happen if they ditched their pre-teen girl target audience and started catering to the bronies exclusively. Shit would get real.
ReplyDeleteWar of the music LOL
ReplyDeleteIT IS ON!
@Pedro B.
ReplyDeleteI diiidddddd... :)
@HaysforPonies Dangit, I wanted to do that joke. XD
ReplyDeleteWhy am I so happy that there is apparently only ONE area to practice music in all of Equestria?
ReplyDeleteHahaha!
ReplyDeleteThis has now become best pairing ever.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly how I imagine Vinyl and Octavia functioning, funnily enough.
ReplyDeleteI'm just drawing it out a little...
Calvin and Hobbes refrrence.
ReplyDeleteI am very very pleased
Somepony clearly enjoyed reading too much into Allegrezza.
ReplyDelete...(Me too.)

ReplyDeleteAngry sex is best sex. And if MLP started catering for bronies... Well... I would be a happy person!

My new OTP. :D
ReplyDeleteI dig the love/hate relationship the fandom has come up with for them.
I love that apparently Scratch keeps her goggles on during sex.
ReplyDeleteBeen waiting for this one to pop up.
ReplyDeleteLucky it's a kids show.. if it was (somehow) for older audiences, they'd be bloody cheating on each other every week just to get *gasp*s like any TVshows..

ReplyDeleteDayum, bronydash, cool your jets.
ReplyDeleteShipping's pretty fun to write, especially engineering love-hate characters like these together.
And now for something completley different...
ReplyDeleteWhat really got me? "Torturing a moose with a corkscrew" and "I've seen more culture floating in a toilet before flushing!"
ReplyDeleteOctavia x Scratch = Win. =D
Hmmm, and I always thought Tav would be a top.
ReplyDelete@bronydash

I loved this comic ^^ (and of course, i love this fanon <3 )
ReplyDeleteThat got a genuine 'lol' from me.
ReplyDeletei laughed so hard and dident even know what it meant
ReplyDeleteMust...get...up...off...floor
ReplyDeleteGlasses, on or off?
ReplyDeleteOff, please.
Too bad.
@bronydash
ReplyDeleteI'm almost scared to ask what you think about things like Berry Punch being thought of as an alcoholic or Derpy having a speech impediment.
This entire comic is hilarious, and the facial expressions are just priceless.
ReplyDeleteOh god that was hilarious, I mean I kinda expected that outcome but it still got me in the end. Had family over for dinner at my place and they all couldn't figure out why I was laughing so hard at my phone.

I think this just made my day.
ReplyDeleteSerious LOL at the end there. Oh my god that was hilarious!
ReplyDeleteMe Gusta
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm jealous of your green text..
@bronydash
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be in the minority on this, but I'll agree with you.
@Vinyl Scratch
ReplyDeleteLiar! Lyra and Bon Bon truly do care for each other and your lying ways must be stopped, no matter the cost.
@ElementalOgre
ReplyDeleteAlas, the only thing Lyra truly cares about is the freedom to be a slob...BonBon is just a nice perk on the side to that pony, methinks! :3
@bronydash
ReplyDeleteI know where you're coming from, but it's a lot easier and funner if you just chill and roll with it. That's what I've done, and I'm having a lot more fun with the fandom than I otherwise would.
Love is the logical advancement on Friendship. Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of a magical power at least.
Allegrezza in a nutshell. (most likely.)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering when you guys were going to post this.
@Vinyl Scratch
ReplyDeleteWhy must you hate everything you love? If you can't get behind Lyra x Bon Bon, you truly are evil.
Octavia X Scratch = OTP
ReplyDeleteThis is the best ship. Srsly.
Shipping again? That's original!
ReplyDeleteI remembering seeing this a while back.
ReplyDeleteIt's still just as funny now.
Seriously?? The ending is such a huge logical jump, just so we can see another scene of two ponies in bed together after sex?? Lmao, why do i get the feeling that is what would happen if they really met... except the sex part.... well maybe
ReplyDelete@BalaklavaPony
ReplyDeleteSeriously, you've never seen this used in any other form of media? Love to hate? Its hardly shipping. Its just a silly comic. I can't believe how serious people get about My Little Pony sometimes.
hahahah Green Text.
ReplyDelete@BalaklavaPony
ReplyDeleteHow can a joke be unoriginal and a huge logical jump at the same time?
@BalaklavaPony
ReplyDeleteIt's balaclava...
Also, most of us writers do it for this thing called "fun," where, in all honesty, we write the stories we want to tell, we put them out to the brony community, and they yay or nay it. (Not doing the pun guys.) XD
If you don't like shipping, don't read or look at it.
im surprised this is just now getting here, though i guess octavia and scratch havent had a super strong following till recently
ReplyDeleteHaha! "I thought you were torturing a moose with a corkscrew!" Grr!
ReplyDeleteUgh, more shipping of myself! *can't escape the shipping* D:
But this comic was pretty funny. Extreme in it's points, but I guess that's what makes it all the more funny. Nice work. :)
After "Spiderses" nothing about the fandom really shocks me anymore.
ReplyDeleteI personally thought this was quite funny, even if I did see the ending coming from a mile away.
ReplyDeleteI can picture, after the angry sex, a minute or two of awkward silence, and then:
Vinyl: "......your music stills sucks."
"music i learned in prison" lol
ReplyDelete@colt classic
ReplyDeleteThanks to that line, I can't help but imagine Scratch speaking like Varg Vikernes. Which is actually kind of disturbing.
even though i normally hate shipping, i irl rofl'd

ok, I must admit, this was very creative and humorous. well played.
ReplyDeleteLol, classic.
ReplyDeletekids ive said this before, hate sex is the best sex
ReplyDeleteThey would never pander to the bronies like that lol. They will give us shout outs like in the adds on TV and such, but nothing that big. That first one is fricken hilarious, Twilight would be a fan girl like that!
ReplyDeleteVinyl was the man.
ReplyDelete"Friendship is Magic?" lol
ReplyDelete@bronydash
ReplyDeleteI also, liked it when there was a less implausible amount of lesbians, but I'll tell ya, it's retarded to not expect this to happen. And even in real life, there are at least one person in a large group who's a homosexual or something.
(also, saying "that's the one thing I hate about this fandom," is starting to get old... Hearin it too often. yknow)
There's way too many girls to not have an abundance of lesbian shippings
ReplyDeleteAwesome, love it!
ReplyDeleteI saw that coming.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone on this site saw that coming.
I've heard angry sex is the best sex :Y
ReplyDeleteI lol'd at Octavia on the turntable. Brilliant.
ReplyDelete"And so we did what any angry couple does: we got married. I can remember where and when, I just can't remember exactly why."
ReplyDeletelol, that was good.
ReplyDeletethis made me laugh so stinking hard. i loved it.
ReplyDeleteExcellent :D

ReplyDeleteI think is probably my favorite Background Pony ship, if only how amazing the personalities they've been given play off of eachother.
ReplyDeleteSaw the punchline coming from the first panel. Didn't make it less funny in the least.
They made the Tron Legacy soundtrack. Trolololol
ReplyDeleteVery likely to happen XD
ReplyDeleteWhy is this so perfect, why.
ReplyDeleteThem insulting each other was so funny and witty. Wonder what they were saying to each other during the whole... time in bed. oh god shut me the fuck up, that was disturbing.
ReplyDeleteHa, the funny thing was I DID see that coming ;) Quarreling ponies are best ponies^^
ReplyDeleteAAWWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
ReplyDeleteCalvin and Hobbes reference!
Nah, we all saw it comin' =P
ReplyDelete@Anonymoose They couldn't show it on tv anymore
ReplyDeleteKismesis is magic?
ReplyDelete@Laurence Brown
ReplyDeleteIt seems that Celestia poured all available funds into her school for gifted unicorns and the music school got the short end of the stick. I mean, they don't even have a background.
@gingerale
ReplyDeleteI believe the proper term is "Kismessitude". Either that, or I just made up a new word. Either way works.
Best shipping comic... ever
ReplyDeletewhew
ReplyDeleteMe Gusta...
