Scout has thrown together this chart of season one pony episodes and the number of YouTube views from all the major channels combined. Obviously not everyone watches the YouTube versions, but it's still a pretty impressive number!
You can find the docs version here.

ReplyDeleteWow, that's pretty cool.
ReplyDeletePonies
ReplyDeleteStill not enough views.
ReplyDeleteneeds more views. :D
ReplyDeleteWhy do I feel like that the views for the season 2 premiere will skyrocket beyond any of those episodes?
ReplyDeletePretty impressive. How many channels were shut down? I know there were a couple at least so there was definitely more views than that, as far as youtube goes.
ReplyDeleteMy numbers seem off.
ReplyDeleteMy highest-viewed video was the Sonic Rainboom episode, and that barely cleared 100k. Episode 1 definitely was not 150k views.
@AngrytigerP
ReplyDeleteOr maybe I'm wrong and just have a shitty memory.
how can pensiveponys all be _exactly_ the same, except for first ep?
ReplyDeleteThe first French subtitled episode translated by the main French fansub has been viewed "only" 10770 times in five months.
ReplyDeletewow this is impressive. I'd like to point out that about 1/3 of people who watched the first episode carried on to watch the others. This is a VERY impressive carryover statistic for the industry.
ReplyDeleteSCOUT IS CREDIT TO BRONIES.
ReplyDeleteSorry, couldn't resist. :P
@yin-tan
ReplyDeleteEither dude effed up or it was fucked by youtube trolls. Don't know if its been fixed but apparently if you refresh a youtube page for god knows how long then it bugs the views. Well I don't even know if thats how it even works /shrug
So, did we make up for Luna's thousand years on the moon? Since we spent just as much watching ponies on Youtube XD
ReplyDeleteOf course, since my son HipsterPony introduced us to MLP:FiM, we watched the whole lot. Nothing like a family who views together. Tonight he's out with a bunch of Melbourne Bronies, hanging out waiting for tonight's showing.
ReplyDeleteLucky boy.
I think there's a typo on Pensivepony's column. Still, I hope he does this for the rest of the episodes! It'd be cool to make a graph out of this if all episodes were there
ReplyDeleteit's 5:18 here. I can not sleep because of ponies...dear lord, IT'S HAPPENNING AGAIN!!!
ReplyDeleteover 1000 years of pony...?
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who found the 1000-year-range to be highly coincidental?
maybe ironic?
awesome none the less, a lot of ppl just can't get enough pony! xDD
ReplyDeleteSo according to this, ponies have a 33% infection rate.
ReplyDeleteThat is freaking insanely awesome. Go Bronies!
ReplyDelete@Soapy5
ReplyDeleteOr 100%, and 2/3 of the infected just get the episodes on a torrent after their first hit. :)
If you count on 22 min per ep the total works out to
ReplyDelete618,70649859304890105711460947601
618 years of watching the first 13 episodes on youtube.
I'm betting the rest pushed it over 1000 years.
I prefer my legal iTunes videos.
ReplyDeleteWell, more or less than I expected, that's still a lot. Go bronies!
ReplyDelete@Wyll ... which are US-only. I'd buy them in an instant if I could.
ReplyDeleteA thousand years of ponies? Is that all? I need to up my viewing quotas.
ReplyDeleteNo love for the CMC? D:
ReplyDelete2 hours to go!
ReplyDeleteAnd is it just me or does 1009 years sound a bit coincidental?
It is very frustrating, how hasbro seem to be shooting themselves in the foot. I mean, MLP is *proverbially* the show that only exists as a marketing tool to sell merchandise, so it seems mad that the merchandise is a: weirdly hard to obtain and b: a bit shit.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how they might have been caught off-guard by the phenomenon and it takes a while to get all the design, production and distribution in gear to sell better physical stuff to a wider market... but in the case of iTunes - given the shows are already encoded and on the system, how hard can it be to roll it out internationally? What on Earth could be the problem with doing that? There are so many US kids cartoon shows I never heard of on the UK iTunes, it can't be that hard surely...
Oh wow!!!
ReplyDeleteThe most viewed episodes are written by Amy Keating Rogers :D This settles it. Amy Keating Rogers is the best writer of My Little Pony.

ReplyDeleteGood to know.
ReplyDeleteAlso 2 more hours.
gosh darnit! a little under 2 hours is still to long of a wait!
ReplyDeleteAnybody else afraid of exploding from the awesome of the first episode and missing the rest of the season(s I hope)?
ReplyDeleteOh hey wow! I'm on that list!
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
Hope that season two is as brilliant as season one was!
Still, not that accurate. If only the HUB could send data as to how many people veiwed season 1 episodes of pony. That should at least move the number up by a century.
ReplyDeleteHave some math:
ReplyDelete24,115,384 episode views total * 22 minutes each = 530,538,448 minutes of MLP watched
That is 368,429.47 human days spent on pony, or 1009.4 human years.
That is enough years to watch Nightmare Moon get sent to the moon AND return.
WOW I never thought this would get posted
ReplyDeleteexcuse me for a second.
YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES ... *ahem*
I added a graph to the Google Doc in celebration.
Thank you everyone!
(Also, sorry about the pensive pony data. I searched a lot but could not find the exact number of views per episode.)
there's something wrong here though. It's only showing my views.
ReplyDeleteSeriously that's alot of ponies
@ghostwolf2398
ReplyDeleteUm ... that was already in my Doc, but you can copypaste it if you like.
"For sake of calculation all views are assumed to be a full non-stop 22 minutes.
ReplyDeleteIn this count there was a total of 24,115,384 views in season 1.
Converted that is:
530,538,448 minutes
or
8,842,307 hours
or
368,429 days
or
1009 years
That’s over a millennium of pony"
And now we know how Luna passed her time on the moon.
Pretty sure it was MenloMarseilles' uploads of Season 1 that I first watched.
ReplyDelete*Takes drag off cigarette and bites lower lip*
Good times... good times...
Humanity has spent over one thousand years watching candy colored ponies. This is a positive development.
ReplyDeletepensivepony got 138,157 view every single episode. What sort of sorcery is this?
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who watches ponies on PinkiPai's channel?
ReplyDeleteNow show this to Hasbro and the Hub so they know how formidable of a force this newfangled Interweb really is. That'll teach them to remove videos from channels!
ReplyDeleteD; I only managed to watch all of season 1 six times before season two started
ReplyDeleteummmm looking at the numbers thats alot of ponys in the world who never saw season 2 and on
ReplyDeleteI always kinda liked BeanyOne's posts, they were captioned, and very high quality.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, I'm famous.
ReplyDeleteYes you are famouse. Your channel got a lot of us into mlp. Without you i would have never watched season 1.
ReplyDeleteThankyou
Plus your captions are great!
