A while back, the Marquee Blog on CNN did a report on Friendship is Magic, primarily revolving around the Katey Perry "Equestria Girls" video. This time around it goes a bit more in depth into the brony culture, including a few of our major achievements and overall age group information.

Woohoo, more media coverage!
ReplyDeleteDude, this is serious business.
ReplyDeleteI'm super cereal.
"What does "My Little Pony" mean to you?"
ReplyDelete<_< uh.... my life...
I hate how their picture has absolutely 0 G4 Ponies. There's one that looks like Scootaloo, but that's a G3 I think.
ReplyDeleteI can see the crapstorm looming now...
ReplyDelete"Q: The ponies' most powerful enemy is which of these? A) Krastos the Glue Maker B) the evil pony Nightmare Moon or C) the cynical grown-up Chester"... the answer being C.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if Joke, or bad editing.
Well, at least it's a positive light, eh? Even if he did say it stars "the unicorns Twilight Sparkle and Rarity, as well as their pony friends," and the first villain of the show was most certainly not C: Chester the cynical human.
ReplyDeleteIkusa, what crapstorm?
ReplyDeleteIt's not like we were featured on =3 or something.
BILL CLINTON IS A BRONY?!?
ReplyDelete@wackyteen It's almost inevitable when EQD posts a story talking about the show or the community. First the "Brony storms" As I call them happen, then the crapstorm happens once everyone else catches wind of it.
ReplyDelete@Lazulic
ReplyDeleteNot really, but on NPR they asked him some extremely obvious questions about the show as a joke, and he got all 3 right.
there's some hate in the comments but the article is pretty nice and short
ReplyDelete@ wackyteen
ReplyDeleteEeeeyup.
@NDupree93 Oh well. still cool that he aced it at all
ReplyDeleteStephen Colbert mentioned us?
ReplyDeleteI must find this clip!
Nice shoutout about EQD also.

@wackyteen
ReplyDeleteIts the nasty comments you are seeing there. When ever someone says something nice about MLP the haters crawl out of the woodwork :(
"healthy smattering of irony"
ReplyDeleteWHO WATCHES IT IRONICALLY?
@BagOfChips
ReplyDeleteI used to not watch it for the irony in order to be more ironic, but then everybody else started watching it unironically, so I went full circle and re-embraced the irony.
And that is the eternal circle of torment that defines hipsterism.
Hold the heck up! Bill Clinton is a brony?! My mind is now blown and my eyes are now derped.
ReplyDelete"follows the adventures of unicorns Twilight Sparkle and Rarity - along with their pony friends"
ReplyDeleteits good to know they're aware of who the true talent is
I liked this article, even if Chester is most certainly not the villain, and Rarity is not on Twilight's level of main characterness. It's all good.
ReplyDelete"...Clinton was asked just three multiple-choice questions, two of which had answer choices that were comically incorrect, e.g. "Q: The ponies' most powerful enemy is which of these? A) Krastos the Glue Maker B) the evil pony Nightmare Moon or C) the cynical grown-up Chester"... the answer being C."
ReplyDeletewat
"Q: The ponies' most powerful enemy is which of these? A) Krastos the Glue Maker B) the evil pony Nightmare Moon or C) the cynical grown-up Chester"... the answer being C.
ReplyDeleteOh you
"Q: The ponies' most powerful enemy is which of these? A) Krastos the Glue Maker B) the evil pony Nightmare Moon or C) the cynical grown-up Chester"... the answer being C."
ReplyDeleteI AGREE
;D
BTW, i liek articles which talk postitively about us. So i liek this one.
I never watched it cause it was ironic to. I fell in love immediately.
ReplyDeleteNow, I did go through denial, but that's long past. I've since stickered my monitor with Pony stickers.
...Did they even bother putting up any visual depiction of G4? The only real images are a main picture swarming with early gen toys (and no G4s) and a video about the physics of isolated scenes from the show.
ReplyDeleteThat's right Rarity finally gets top billing.
ReplyDelete@Forderz
ReplyDeleteI'm calling it for season 3 to be renamed "My Little Rarity: Friendship is Fabulous, Darling"
And now CNN links to Equstria Daily.
ReplyDeleteYay.
A decent writeup, though one thing stood out to me:
ReplyDelete"A handful of bronies went so far as to track down my e-mail address and office number and leave me messages."
See this? This is the exact opposite of being 20% cooler. In fact, this is downright creepy. Please, for the love of god, don't do this.
Was Seth spelling it Katey Perry intentionally?
ReplyDeleteAlso, this news is amazing
That's a cool article.
ReplyDeleteAnd as par for the course, there are even a few trolls making unnecessarily perverted comments on it.
The answer is C, bwahaha!
ReplyDeleteStill, thanks for the shoutout. =D
Seems some people missed that Bill Clinton thing a while back. lol
ReplyDeleteThis is cool. Yay CNN. You aren't nearly as bad as a certain... other news network.
"The latest incarnation of Hasbro's "My Little Pony" franchise follows the adventures of unicorns Twilight Sparkle and Rarity - along with their pony friends Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy"
ReplyDeleteWhat? Are they implying Rarity is more of a mane character than Pinkie, AJ, Dashie or Fluttershy?
Your description is pretty spot on. Light indeed.
ReplyDeletelOltastic.
ReplyDeleteI bet that by April, if you put on CNN News, all that'll be there is ponies. :D
