ReplyDeletebut i will read it...
ReplyDeleteThis wouldn't happen to have anything to do with her place in the pole, would it? Couldn't help but notice the correlation there.
ReplyDelete:3
ReplyDelete@joetraincool - Not at all, actually. I wrote the story a few days ago, and I didn't notice the poll until a few hours ago.
ReplyDeletesad is one of the tags i avoid, but slightly sad? I think I can deal with slightly sad, will give this a read when i have time.
ReplyDeleteYES. I read this on DA not too long ago. So glad to see this here. ^^ Carry on, our favored filly~
ReplyDeleteOh my god. Oh my god. That is one of THE most precious stories I have ever read. *clapping* You, are a genius!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis was absolutely gorgeous. Wonderful job!
ReplyDelete@Gypsy
ReplyDeleteI really think you're in the wrong fandom
Sucks that this isn't getting more attention. I felt it was a beautifully written story, albeit a little cliche. I feel like the 'failing musician' trope has been done to death with Lyra, probably due to that one comic that gets thrown around...
ReplyDeleteThat being said, the description, emotion, and imagery in the story were beautiful. Some of the dialogue felt a little off character-wise, but the relationship between Lyra and Bonbon came across as totally earnest. The title is an amazing choice of words, and situated very well in the story.
I hope we see more from this writer, as they're obviously a talented individual. Something lengthier or more ambitious while still focusing on some kind of character interaction or relationship would be oustanding.
Big love going out to the author here. Lyra's my favourite background pony, and you made her seem even better for me. She now seems to me like some sort of Joanna Newsom-esque musician. Kudos for that <3
ReplyDelete@Nosnibor
ReplyDeletePretty sweet story. Though I felt the beginning scene could be re-worked a bit; Lyra's dialogue and actions seem slightly awkward (though that's just me).
To Nosnibor: awesome comparison between Joanna Newsom and Lyra. I never made the connection between the two until you mentioned it, but it makes complete sense. Her music completely fits the context of this story and Lyra's (fannon depicted) personality.
*sniff*
ReplyDeleteThat was beautiful...
pretty story :)
ReplyDeleteYou managed to pull me away from Fallout: Equestria, which is, at the moment, the highest praise I can give. However, my opinion of the story is mixed.
ReplyDeleteThe writing is excellent, period. And I love shipping fics and a bit of sadness, but this one just seemed extremely sappy. The length was appropriate. The vocabulary brilliant.
Don't let 'too sappy' deter you, though. The Wasteland has toughened me, I'm afraid.
Beautiful. That's all I can say.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the praise, everyone! ^^ Definitely picks me up after the terrible day I've been having.
ReplyDelete@NTSTS
I didn't realize Lyra being a failing musician could be considered cliche. I've never seen whatever comic you're talking about. :O
Thanks a lot for your high praise, regardless. :) I definitely have a more ambitious romance fic in mind, as well as many other works I intend to do, which may or may not be submitted here to EqD. Feel free to follow me on FiMFiction, PFA, or any of my gallery sites.
Gypsy that wasn't very nice I hate you >:^O. Anyhow this story was dare I say beautiful? Well constructed, deep and full of imagery. Thanks for sharing!!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved this story! I was on the verge of tears at some parts. well done, looking forward to more of your work.
ReplyDeleteThis story was great ^_^ One of my favorite short stories. Looking forward to future work!
ReplyDeleteConfound you... making me enjoy shipping stories. An excellent story, no doubt.
ReplyDeleteThat was a wonderful story! Such an amazing amount of feeling packed into so few words, beautiful. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAww, that's such a sweet story!
ReplyDeleteWOW I am FINALLY beginning to catch up with these fics! (had the stories tab opened since this came out! and only JUST finished this right now!)
ReplyDeleteThis is a really sweet story, even if that first wall was a bit of a hurdle for me to get started with this fic, no offense I just had a ton others competing for my limited time and that opening was LONG winded.
I am SO glad though that after that over descriptive part finished I was greeted to a story a lot of people can sort of relate to.
To love what you do so much and wanting others to notice your work, to have conflicting thoughts during days things didn't go as you would of liked which gets you down on yourself questioning what is wrong with your work. Fortunately Lyra had a loving support to wash away her doubts.
I'd be more detailed on the stuff that drove me to continue reading (did love that backstory short, sweet, and that answer she gave bonnie at the end made me smile) but I need to get caught up on others!
LOVED the touching way you wrote LyBon so it was tender but not overly sappy or cloppy. You really did manage to keep it feeling affectionately real between them, good job you really made me glad I stuck with it, even if the first half was my stubborn promise to finish this fic someday, it turned into "Glad I stuck with this" rather quickly.
@Cátsy
ReplyDeleteWow, you've had my tab sitting there THAT LONG? XD Jeez!
I'm glad you finally decided to read it, though. Sorry if you found the intro so long-winded, I wanted to paint a beautiful picture is all~ Lyra's imagination is quite vivid!
@ColourSplash
ReplyDeleteWell, he's an expert. My shit writing wouldn't even get a second glance here, let alone a feature. Must be nice to have talent
