ReplyDeleteColgate is best pony, not Trixie.
ReplyDeleteWhy would Spitfire be pregnant?
ReplyDeleteHold up, Trixie? Really?......
ReplyDelete@KShrike
ReplyDeleteBecause it'd be ridiculous if Soarin' were pregnant. Duh.
Anyways, very entertaining story. Looking forward to more.
Is everyone just too busy with that New York Observer post to read this aweomeness?
ReplyDeleteI will say that this is awesome and we need more OC ponies getting traumatized by the mane cast and other Ponyvillians.
ReplyDeleteIn Equestria, MS Paint is the only image software they have.
ReplyDeleteRemember folks: All the Ponies in this town are CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteI'm just gonna say now, this reminds me of the movie "Roman Holiday". The journalist who gets the big scoop and is conflicted about it because of the effect on the subjects. Could be wrong, but it's got that vibe to it.
ReplyDelete@ActionScripter9109
ReplyDeleteJust remember, there is nothing new under this sun. Every idea has been written before.
It's just a matter of redoing it in an entertaining way.
I assume the [Light Shipping] comes later...
ReplyDeleteAt the "Trixie best pony ever?" BULLSHIT!!!
ReplyDelete...Spitfire's pregnant with Twilight's daughter?
ReplyDeleteAnd that's how Midnight Sun was born.
Poor Ink Well...
ReplyDelete@banjo2E Black hole sun, won't you come, and wash away the rain?
ReplyDelete@MedicShy
ReplyDeleteWell, then we just need to get Celestia to change out the sun, right?
Very intrigued by this story. Can't wait for more!
ReplyDeleteI'll give it a read.

ReplyDeleteLet me guess Ink Well will do his best but his editor will make "improvements" before its published without his knowledge and the whole thing ends with Twilight Sparkle obliterating the Enquirer and turning the entire staff into potted plants.
ReplyDeleteKinda had the same idea as the anon above me with everything going to hell.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the next part already its freakin killing me here
I'm in agreement with the anon two above me - I think I see where this story is going, but nevertheless I am thoroughly enjoying it! I love a good tragic character, and Ink Well is very well written! The (very) light shipping (if one can even call it that) is a nice touch, it establishes a connection between Ink and the Mane Six and adds a bit of edge. Can't wait for the next part!
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving this. Looking forward to the next part!
ReplyDeleteNo... Don't be going down Mr. rating! I'll write better! I promise!
ReplyDeleteI can't handle having a low quality story... my perfectionism will not allow it.
That picture reminds me of the teacher made posters that lined the walls of my old high-school.
ReplyDelete*Nostalgia Hit*
I really liked this, i like the idea behind it and its well written, your portrayal of the characters is fairly spot on and you made an OC that doesn't kill the feel of everything.
ReplyDeleteI try to avoid reading things that are incomplete since i hate waiting, i should really stop breaking my own rule since now im forced to wait for more.
The mane 6 are kinda jerks in this, aren't they? Seriously... It makes me a little aggravated.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYeah, they're definitely pinging my douche-bag-o-meter.
*reads chapter 2* ...crossed eyes? Derpy?
ReplyDeleteManure just got real up in here.
ReplyDeleteI really really like this story. Can't wait for more.
ReplyDeleteI hope the mane 6 won't blame Ink Well for that magazine too
ReplyDeleteOh, crud... this can't be good.
ReplyDeleteAlso, don't go to ponyville, go to the equirer HQ and get this sorted out!
Yep, kinda saw that coming...but I don't care, because thhe writing is fantastic! Tragic writer characters are always fun to read for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI didn't actually understand what the last headline meant. Ponyville 6 attack presumably refers to the mane cast, but what is the 'GGG' supposed to mean?
ReplyDeleteI'm really getting into this, Ink is a very 3D OC dare I say even on par with Littlepip?.
ReplyDeleteThat and I really like the Love Intrest With Rose and the breif state of Depression we see, I don't know why but maybe it because I used to have depression sometimes it comes back but I really Sympathise with Ink Well Maybe it's the Hat.
Shut up Rarity No matter what, a man always looks 20% cooler in a Fedora or Trilby
I've been giving this story some thought and I think I can work out what might happen in the next part of the story. Here are just a few assumptions.
ReplyDeleteHypothesis: Ink Well's article on the Mane 6 ruining the Gala without any corrections will/will not be included in the magazine
This is one of my initial thoughts when I finished part 3. I gave this one some thought for a while
I'm going to assume that there were no photocopiers at the time and that Ink Well was only bothered to write one copy of the article. I don't know anything about magazine publication but the Equirer would probably need the article for at least a few hours to get it into the magazine. Fluttershy found the false article in Ink Well's house at around mid morning, so around 10 - 11am, I'm guessing. If the Equirer had stolen the article in the morning, Fluttershy wouldn't have found it in Ink Well's house unless the Equirer broke in during nighttime and the Equirer HQ is open at 4am. It would take at least a few hours to process the article and get it into the magazine. Even after they were finished with the article the only reason I can imagine for them to return it is if it's part of their etiquette. And if they did return it, why would they put it on his desk? Why not in his mailbox?
After Fluttershy finds the false article, she takes it with her to Ponyville. Ink Well rips off a piece of the article to stem his nose bleed. It's not a big strip but it could potentially have some of the article information on it. If I know the Equirer well enough, they won't want to use an article when part of it is missing. And even then, the chances of someone from the Equirer, coming to Ponyville and finding the article in Twilight's library are slim
Now if there was more than one copy of the false article, that's a different story. It would be more likely then, that Ink Well's article would be included in the magazine
Hypothesis: Ink Well may/may not get physically abused by the Mane 6 in the next chapter
I find it highly unlikely that the Mane 6 will go berserk on Ink Well again. Even if the magazine is Ink Well's fault, the Mane 6 already owe him too much. Not only did Ink Well try to help them by publishing corrections, they also treated him harshly when he didn't deserve it. the only time the Mane 6 were justified, if you could call it that, in harassing Ink Well was when Applejack was angry over his article about Braeburn. The only scenario where I can imagine Ink Well getting beat up is if the Mane 6 are foolish enough to make the same mistake of "reacting before thinking" a third time
Seth, buddy? You may have derped a bit on the links for part 4.
ReplyDeleteThe links have indeed come down with a case of Derpy.
ReplyDeletethe link has been derpified
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me all those rejection letters are coming from one source that has been intercepting all of Ink Wells stuff in order to keep the truth from coming out.
ReplyDelete@OminousBrony
ReplyDeleteThat, or Equestrian tabloids are all owned by one corporation...
I never pegged FlutterShy as Velma. This does peg her as such because of her patience and understanding.
ReplyDeleteThere's a monopoly on Equestrian media, isn't there? They were all written by the same pony of the same department of that one big corporation that owns the Enquirer, Ponies, the Times and all those other half-baked newspapers. That's actually a pretty cool twist.
ReplyDelete5 bits say story ends with inkwell starting his own magazine in ponyville and hooking up with roseluck
ReplyDelete@stitch
ReplyDeleteAnother five says it'll be named 'The Equestria Daily'.
---
Loving the story so far Medicshy. Liked how you threw in some journalistic intrigue into the plot and Ink Well is one of the most enjoyable OC's I've read about. Worthy of 5 stars.
Oh lordie, please don't tell me Trixie somehow has been answering all these letters...
ReplyDeleteOk so....I dunno what to say about this one. I really liked the first two parts, but for a story about writing, the writing seems to be really, I dunno...repetitive or something. Honestly I was really pretty bored through part 4.
ReplyDeleteOkay, just finished Part 4...
ReplyDeleteSo... somepony's tampering with the mail, I take it? Drat it all, now I have to wait for part 5.
@Melodia
ReplyDeleteI know 4 is weak... I'm sorry about that, I was slogging on it, and i just had to get it out before it drove me crazy... I'll try harder from now on...
Also, part 5 is half done thanks to my insanity working on part 4, so this wait should hopefully be far less!
ReplyDeleteOoh, a twist? All the media are actually just one entity? And is Ink Well going to blow their cover and write the tell-all story of the century?
ReplyDeleteI think all the letters are the same, Cookie cutter identical. Meaning that no one at any of the magazines have actually read them.
ReplyDeleteInteresting...so all the media might be one entity...or they might not...but either way, someone is determined to put Ink Well away. This is getting really intriguing.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's just getting hotter and hotter!
ReplyDeleteI really like where this is going.
Part 5 was a lot better, indeed.
ReplyDeleteThis just in, the Equirer is actually controlled by the Illuminati.
ReplyDeleteShit seems to have just gotten serious.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap. Way to add suspense! The Equirer must be covering up some serious shit if they resort to attempted murder.
ReplyDeleteNice chapter six was the best chapter so far :D it was awesome:D
ReplyDelete.....don't care any more. If it's going to be like that.
ReplyDeleteOuch... sorry Melodia. I don't seem to know what it takes to keep you as a reader. Would it help to know that it's currently about as dark as it's going to get? Or is something else the matter?
ReplyDeleteI hope this gets updated again someday! I'm really looking forward to the conclusion of one of my favorite fics on the site! Ink Well is definitely one of the best written OCs out there.
ReplyDeleteOh for- use Spike to send that file to the Princess! It'd solve at least two problems, probably more!
ReplyDeleteLast chapter was a little bit disappointing, since it seemed to hinge on everyone carrying the idiot-ball.
ReplyDeleteSPOILER
Seriously, Ink Well comes home stabbed and burnt last chapter, and no one has called the guards or Celestia? I'm assuming that Celestia's non-response at the end of this chapter will be explained in more detail in a future chapter, but the fact that we had to wait so long for even that feels...contrived.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNice chapter i hope u update soon :D
ReplyDelete@Reyemile
ReplyDeleteThis, I'm afraid. I figured since it was now clear that the Enquirer was playing for keeps that someone in the Mane Six would make it obvious that they should probably get Celestia involved immediately. Not wait until all of the Mane Six were attacked, again, before doing so. It actually makes Twilight seem like kind of a bitch, because it comes off as "Attack my friends, no problem. Attack ME, Celestia is gonna fry your ass."
Celestia's basic inaction seems really odd too. I can get that she can't just all up and shut down the Enquirer, but I would expect her to do a bit more than send a stern letter to them and say she is watching them.
The Mane Six (AJ excepting) were also really OOC in this chapter, too. Inkwell had the shit beat out of him. His house was burned down, his life was ruined, and a massive publication printed a story that said he was dead; all because he was trying to help them.
So Rainbow's response is initially to go beat him up and (when it becomes clear that she can't) continuously hurl vocal jabs at him?
Twilight's response is to let him wallow in self-pity because she can handle the Enquirer better anyway?
Fluttershy, who was probably the closest to Ink Well as a friend besides Rose, doesn't speak up in his defense?
Rarity's response is to piss and moan that she can't go work on her dress orders, and that Ink Well is a lost cause so screw him? And when Applejack calls her on being selfish, say that Applejack only cares because she has a crush on him?
Rose should have let AJ kick Rarity squarely in the ass like she was going to.
Who are these characters, and why are they given the names of the characters in the show?
On one hand I agree with Reyemile and TenchiFreak5 that I'm a little bemused with Twilight's apparent reluctance to send word to Celestia, and with the exception of Applejack and Fluttershy the Mane Six seem a little out of character in this chapter.
ReplyDeleteThat said however, I still thoroughly enjoyed this. The writing is still lively, the conspiracy keeps me guessing, the romance between Ink Well as Rose is sweet, and Ink Well's little descent into madness there was extremely well-written. I look forward to more!
I can't believe I haven't posted here yet. I LOVE this story. that is all.
ReplyDeleteWHY NO 6-STAR
ReplyDeleteBut I think Seth derped the chapter title! This is chapter 8, not 7!
AWWWWW, that was such a sweet ending! Epic story as well. Deserves a 6-star rating in my opinion. And Fan-art. And a sequel. This story is up there with my all-time favourites for sure!
ReplyDeleteinb4 too much more happens: there IS going to be a sequel, though not in quite the same style, Ink Well will be a returning character.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I love to see all of the joyful reactions on the story! I am so glad you like it! It makes me feel loved :)
Wow. Epic battle scene. Overall, great job on the entire story!
ReplyDeleteI have read Newsworthy, I loved it. Thank you for allowing me the pleasure of doing so.
ReplyDeleteThe Ending Gave me a massive dawgasm this whole thing was like a GOOD Disney movie or something or I don't know.
ReplyDeleteStill fantastic though.
Medicshy....
ReplyDeleteI....
This.......
If I could somehow give your fan fic justice I would but I can't.
You describe every detail but not to an extent where you describe too much.
The mood is fantastic The Depression I feel with as I Said before I used to suffer from depression.
Ink Well is one of the best OC's ever and needs to be seen as so.
Now I will be honest I hate shipping, but what you pulled of is a thing of beauty The Love intrest builds slowly like a jigsaw puzzle it slowly falls into place and the payoff at the end is exquisite.
I'm reviewing this on Supremest Fan Fiction Reviews this week.
There I shall fanboy and pedestal the hell it of this.
I would really like to get an interview with you on the site
I have you know you kept me up 2 hours past my bed time...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing! Please accept this token of my apprechiation (f spelling) and my praise.
Everything was described in such a grand detail and I felt what the characters were feeling. DAT ENDING!
Thank you soooo much for writing this, I remember reading this the first day it was posted and I have always been awaiting an update ever since. Well i gotta get up for school in 4 hrs but at least I know a writer Ill look out for in the future.
What? Another one? MY BRAIN MIGHT EXPLODE WITH HAPPINESS!
ReplyDeleteIts a Whooves fic!!!! *yay~* medicshy i love you!!!!
ReplyDeleteOmahgawd its the Doctor! My life is pretty damn close to complete.
ReplyDeleteReaction to second story: $90
ReplyDeleteFinds out the Doctor is in: Priceless.
Man, I can't believe you. Not only did you make a new story involving the Doctor and Ink Well, but you added a Blink reference. Or the part about ducking was just a coincidence.
Oh hay yeah! Ink Well has made the big time, we've got Cyberponies (at least, that's what I think they are) and the Doctor! This can only mean good things. Looking forward to this one!
ReplyDelete^ Cybers, or those clockwork droids that were hunting Madame DuHugeTits--- er, DuPompadour.
ReplyDeleteI loved it! Although I think I'll hold off reading the sequel, as the whole sci-fi time shenanigans things isn't what I'm into...
ReplyDelete@Xuncu You're a little closer, but no cigar. You'll just have to wait and see!
ReplyDelete@statoose Aww... I'll be sad to see you go... Really there's not too much time skipping, but there is a bit of sci fi. And if you don't like it and are very willing to wait there are already a few stories in the work that i think might interest you once more :)
ReplyDelete@MedicShy
ReplyDeleteHow's it coming? It's been three weeks, and none of my favorite fics are updating.
@MagicLlama sorry, I sent it in over a week ago, but it seems there was an error when i last sent it to them. I was gonna wait and send out both at once, but I'll resend part 2 just for you! ^^
ReplyDelete@MedicShy
ReplyDeleteYES! I guess it worked!
@MagicLlama Glad it helped! I guess I'd convinced myself nopony was reading anymore, so i figured nopony would care if I stalled part 2 to appear with part 3, but obviously i was wrong! Thank you for the support!
ReplyDeleteNew reader here.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite interested to see where you are going with this.
The first story was phenomenal, and, while the addition of The Doctor in the sequel is sort of random, it works, strangely enough. I'll continue to read happily.
(+1 shiny new reader)
@Offbeat Soul TO be perfectly honest, this one is going to be completely out of tone compared to the others (yeah, I've already got a third part in mind), but I figured I could make it work and make the world just that much more wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAw yeah, here we go.
ReplyDeleteGdocs link doesnt work. Did you forget to make it public? It says I don't have permission to access.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, DA is still working
@MagicLlama Why yes, I did forget, but it should now be fixed.
ReplyDeleteThis is an obligatory "NEW CHAPTER WOOHOOOO!" post from your number one fan. Llama out. Its a-readin' time!
ReplyDeleteI see Pinkie Pie has been reincarnated 2000 years in the future for solely comedic purposes. I approve.
ReplyDeleteBut along serious lines, I think it would do well to have a short cut-out back to present day Equestria. Seeing Rose's side of all this would be a great way to push the ship, which has been a tad neglected up to this point, if I might say. Also, its clear that Inkwell spawns SOMETHING, and dropping some more hints and planting seeds in present time (if at all possible) would provide more development when it comes time for the big reveal. But hey, then again, the nature of the secret might not make for any good pre-development.
Also, I know EXACTLY where the concept of lunar ponies comes from, and I don't believe you credited Cybertoaster anywhere. Shaaaame~!
Sometimes, acting like a fan-girl can make me forget that I'm a writer. Then I critique and I remember!
@MagicLlama She is not a reincarnation, she is a descendant. Unfortunately the Pie blood has been diluted a tad, or she could have broken the fourth wall to escape.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Cybertoaster goes I credited him previously on my DA, but I did forget at 4am last night to put his name in the description, and I deserve the shame. I will rectify that immediately.
there is a slight problem with Rose's reaction to this, and that comes from the ending I have planned and wish desperately not to spoil. Suffice it to say, there will be more put into it in upcoming chapters.
And what do you mean by spawns something?
@MedicShy
ReplyDeleteI simply meant the whole ordeal where Ink Well has some very important effect on the future that the Doctor is trying to hide from him, and that he is extremely oblivious to.
@MagicLlama Oh he's not oblivious, he's just got other things to focus on right now. Besides, he's a writer. He doesn't believe in spoilers.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a good story, and I'll try to read it. :)
ReplyDeleteI just read... all of it.
ReplyDeleteMan I love this fandom.

@Fin
ReplyDeleteThat takes dedication. You get 1 free cyber cookie. It is inedible, but it looks delicious.
