• Signed Pony From FiM Animators

Someone emailed me this signed Peachy Pony from one of the FiM animators.

If anything, she wins for the smug ass expression.    This is a respectable OC pony right here!

I'm glad they appreciate our nonsense.  I sometimes worry that we might scare away out awesome animation buddies working on the show.  Bronies can be pretty weird when we are bored.

And the words, thanks to the guys in comments

OH TEH NOES. NOT THE FURRIES.

Are we seriously still on that? What is it gonna take for you guys to realize that furries exist and it's better to tolerate them than to pretend they're not there?

    12. So.

      Peachy Bell, eh?

      From one of the animators.

      LOOKS LIKE CANON TO ME.

Now that we can finish the topic of Furries, I think it's awesome of the animators. But wasn't Peachy Pie/Pelt one of the background ponies on the box of some Canterlot Toy Castle set or something? A new addition to the cast of the Mane 6?

    15. How exactly would it work as canon? "It's canon because it exists" sounds strange to me. Or am I just over thinking things?

With that kind of logic, I'd have expected you to say I was a pony for being on this site in the first place.

    20. Might the character’s name be Peachy Pitt? That seems to make more sense to me than Peachy Pelt, especially since ponies don’t have pelts of fur—they have coats of hair.

    34. Keep in mind that the animators have to be artists in the first place. Some of them even associate with some high-tier furry artists (I personally know of one such scenario). And I don't mean the tame kind. They've seen stuff. LOTS of stuff. There's not much bronies can conjure up that they haven't already seen. It's not that big a deal. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them have secret or not so secret FurAffinity accounts with ridiculous stuff in their favs list, or some sort of "secret folder" of pony stuff they doodled themselves.

I know a few folk that actually have archived hardcore stuff, and were afraid that kind of material would keep them from getting a job in the art field, so they wipe it out. They come back not too long after with new arts, explaining that it's not uncommon to have a secret stash that isn't all that secret.

It's not that hard. Simply say "I enjoy MLP, but I don't subscribe to the 'furry' fandom." Mission complete.

Your implication that everyone who watches this show also likes most anthropomorphic animal fiction in general is very flawed. In fact, if this show wasn't well written, or even if it was and still had that old MLP art style, I'd have never gotten past half of the first episode.

      ReplyDelete
    48. Hey Seth.. are you a lifelong furry?

      ReplyDelete
    49. @Omatic
I believe what he intends to say is that whatever happens, we'd look completely ridiculous if we attempted to convince other people (say, someone who isn't exactly familiar with the Brony phenomenon) that we are MORE normal because we like pastel-coloured ponies in contrast to anthropomorphic pornography.

      ReplyDelete
    50. @Anonymous You're obviously trolling, I'd like to ask you to leave. If you're going to harass someone, rage at me instead, I've seen more of that side of the internet than I'd like to admit. I've left that behind a while ago, but it's still more relevant than the people you are trying to attach it to. Trying to connect it to Seth or the community as a whole is an absurd leap in logic.

      ReplyDelete
    53. "Your implication that everyone who watches this show also likes most anthropomorphic animal fiction in general is very flawed"

      How is it flawed...?

MLP characters are anthropomorphic animals in fiction. (if ponies no longer count as animals, please correct me, I have not seen that memo)
Bronies are fans of said anthropomorphic animals in fiction but not all anthro animals in all fiction.
Furries are fans of anthropomorphic animals in fiction but not all anthro animals in all fiction.

Now please point out the glaring difference that I'm missing here...?

Before I receive the title of troll as well, no, I'm not posting this to troll. (and this is my first post in this particular thread.)
I'm posting this to make people think and because I really really want to know how one can make the absurd leap in logic to see the MLP fandom as a completely different thing from the furry fandom.

It's like saying you're a trekkie, but do not belong to the Sci-Fi fandom.

      ReplyDelete
    54. I think it's amazing that an animator did this.

      ReplyDelete
    61. All I'm saying is Seth is a furry. What's so wrong about Seth being a furry? He has a right to be one.

      ReplyDelete
    62. @Anonymous The issue is with you trying to spam it across the comments, without anything more to go on than an opinion. He doesn't have to deny it for it to count as trolling, and even if the first post wasn't intended as such, the continued insistence is trying our love and tolerance. Heartmend is right, we're above this.

@anon 9:06 That was very well written, but I would like to politely disagree with a few parts. "Furries" as I've seen it used on the internet usually refers to the fans of explicit anthropomorphic content, rather than fans of anthro animals in fiction in general. The connection to anthropomorphic animals in general is valid, but Bronies are highly opposed to the explicit content that is usually associated with furry fandom, which is probably the glaring difference you mentioned. Using your Sci-Fi example, I'd say they are separate groups within the same genre; they both like anthropomorphic animals, but for different reasons, and show it in different ways.

      ReplyDelete
    63. @eaglehooves

Yet bronies are big fans of explicit pony content. Like Seth with Equestria After Dark. This content is generated by bronies for bronies.

      So..

      Explicit furry content is abhorrent.

      Explicit MLP content is A-ok!

      Hypocrite much, ponyfans?

    64. But peaches are poisonous for equines. (So are cherries.)

      ReplyDelete
    65. @Anonymous As Seth has pointed out in comments earlier, Equestria after Dark was established to keep that kind of content out of the EqD comments. As pageviews show "Big fans" isn't exactly true, and most pony fans find explicit MLP content abhorrent. We just realize that this is the internet, it will happen whether you want it or not, and put it behind a warning so it stays out of the mainstream content.

If your not trolling and want to have an intelligent conversation, can I have a name and URL to call you?

    67. @Anonymous The flaw in your analogy is that you can't be a fan of a genre if you only like one work. A Trekkie can't call himself a Sci-Fi fan if Star Trek is the only Sci-Fi work he likes. Likewise, you can't call someone a furry just because he happens to like one work that could fall under that category.

Another problem is that you're defining furry content too loosely. When someone gets called a furry they're not implying he likes Tale Spin, Looney Tunes or Sonic the Hedgehog. They're thinking of drawings that are basically humanoids with animal features. Someone who likes said cartoons is just someone who likes cartoons (though there's nothing saying a furry can't like Looney Tunes.)

Third problem - a lot of people who watch MLP watch it because they fell in love with the animation, characters and storytelling. These people won't be attracted to other shows with anthropomorphic animals just because they have anthropomorphic animals. It's like saying we're attracted to shows aimed towards girls; we just found a good show that happened to be aimed at girls.

Either way, this whole furry bashing is stupid, and this is coming from someone who finds furries weird. To those of you who are being haters, knock it off.

      ReplyDelete
    68. People who get off on cartoon ponies having sex are pervs. Simple as that. I've been calling myself a "brony" up 'til now because I'm an adult who enjoys the heck out of MLP:FiM. And that's because it's got great characters that are easy to identify with, terrific production values, and clever writing. But the weird sexual crap generated by some in the fandom turns me off and gives the term "brony" an unsavory tang.

So as of now I'm no longer a brony. Just a fan of a good show.

      ReplyDelete
    69. @Armando

Sure I can call Seth a furry. He used to hang out on a furry board going on about his waifu Cynder.. other furry porn and then his new waifu Trixie. Seth.. or cccd9.. knows what I'm talking about. Non furries don't go on furry boards and go on about their waifus.

Furries ARE a loose bunch.. they're everywhere in everything. Ask Ajin up there. Not all pony fans are furries but a good deal are.. and I laugh at the love and tolerance fandom not being able to deal with it. Preach acceptance of Seth being a furry yet argue till you're blue in the face that he isn't.

      >furry bashing is stupid
      >coming from someone who find furries weird.

Ponyfans.. you're all a bunch of hypocrites. Preach love and tolerance on one hand and wish furries death, pestilence and eradication on the other. Claim you don't like porn yet flood various sites with it.

Newsflash for you.. you're adults watching a little girl's cartoon. the rest of the world thinks you're just as weird as furries are. So suck it up 4channers and others.. you got no room to hate on anyone else.

    77. "When someone gets called a furry ...They're thinking of drawings that are basically humanoids with animal features"

No, anthro animals is animals with human features. Get it right.

"usually refers to the fans of explicit anthropomorphic content, rather than fans of anthro animals in fiction in general."

which is also wrong, just like there's PG bronies, there's PG furries.

"A Trekkie can't call himself a Sci-Fi fan if Star Trek is the only Sci-Fi work he likes"

Here we get to the core of the issue. Star Trek = Sci-Fi. So a trekkie is *always* a fan of sci-fi, if her were into fantasy he'd be a LOTR geek instead. You can be a sci-fi fan without liking Star Trek, but it's impossible to be a trekkie and not like the genre at all.

"a lot of people who watch MLP watch it because they fell in love with the animation, characters and storytelling."

As did the people who for instance fell in love with lion king. Only the 'hardcore' fans of that movie (others then the ones who just like the movie and nothing more) who collect artwork, fanart, plush, and merchandise, realized what fandom they fell under and didn't have the hypocrisy to deny they're anthropomorphic animal fans. Which is what furry is and is about.

Furry = anthropomorphic animals (or fans thereof)

So I ask again, what's the difference between ponies and furries? the answers sofar have not been real answers, only wordsalading and fact evading like 'furries like explicit we dont'

If the brony community cares so little for it's own reputation, where does the fear of being called a furry comes from? Not from fear of reputation, but what then?

PS there's more then one anon. I want to have an intelligent conversation, but I dont need a name for that. Just call me anon and learn to see the difference between me and the other(s). You should be used to dealing with anons by now, and leaned to differentiate between them. us. Whatever.

I'm not here to point out what I think of furry hating bronies like the other anon, I'm just curious, and human psychology (or should I say pony psychology?) is quite interesting.

I simply don't get it, let's say. Buck, just call e confusedanon.
