Damn time to find my dvds of Samurai Champloo. >Inb4 they ponify the episode with the marijuana fields. Confound these ponies and making me watch great anime. Wait would that be confounding of more of a yay type thing?
@AmosParody of Samurai Champloo, a pretty good action/comedy/serious anime series set in feudal-ish Japan. It's more 'normal' than say the semi-plausible antics and cast of Rurouni Kenshin.
So we got Samurai Applejack, and now we have Pony Champloo.. ok, ponies + ancient Japanese stuff clearly is a winning combination. IS THERE ANYTHING PONIES DON'T MAKE AWESOME?!
Whoa. That looked awesome! ...and that song, I heard it somewhere a few years ago when I was younger; I only seen the intro and and looked cool but couldn't figure out what show is it. I know now. I might at as well watch the show if possible.
Comparing that video and the original intro, the user did a very good job trying to replicate it.
We can tick Samurai Champloo off the list of shows that have yet to combined with ponies. This list getting smaller by the day, I think we are going to run out of stuff soon.
The video is very good and accurate to the original.
But Seth's comment is rude to a lot of other pony video makers. I know a few that put a lot of hard work into their videos, and he's trying to make it sound like they don't do anything great at all.
This needs to be the S2 Opening sequence. Make it so.
Seriously, this was freakin' awesome. I've seen Samurai Champloo and loved its OP. This is a fantastic use of it for MLP:FiM and easily one of the best PMVs I have seen yet.
Awesome video, even though I think Rarity would make a better Jin.
Oh, and the whole Samurai Champloo series is available on Funimations youtube page (dubbed, but very well dubbed) if anyone wants to check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-qhxMrxDz4
I've only watched two anime series in my entire life, Samurai Champloo is one of them. Outstanding editing, this holds up to the original incredibly well.
It's good to see more PMV's that aren't just mishmashing music and clips we've heard/seen a thousand times before, this is far more complex.
Wow, that was beautiful. It would probably have been more so if I actually knew Samurai Champloo, but this vid alone game me a good idea of it XD Many congrats.
"PMVs that actually do stuff" You cut me deep, Seth. You cut me real fucking deep.
Honestly, the main difference is that doing this involves a fuckton of masking and scene placement. I mean NO disparagement to the creator, this is fantastically done, but I hate to see disrespect to the people who put good time and effort into matching clips to the show. It can easily take more time finding clips to match a couple lines of a song than it takes to mask around a single frame and get that to pan around the screen for the same amount of time.
Again, though, that's not necessarily what's done in this one, a hell of a lot of work was put into the video clips being masked and making all the titles and whatnot match. Very good job.

Nice to insult the bronies that don't have the money to use high quality programs like Vegas Pro to make things like this Seth. Just because they can't do like what this person did for this vid, doesn't mean the other people don't give effort and dedication to the PMVs we make with things as simple as Windows Movie Maker or something like that. You're a fucking jerk!
Absolutely ****ing amazing. I never even saw Samurai Champloo, but this is brilliant.
To the bronies *****ing about Seth's comment, stop being jealous and get creative. Sure, this took some fancy stuff to make, but that Wu Tang song that was posted a few weeks ago was pretty simple and yet was almost flawless. All you need is good lip-syncing and good execution and you're golden.

Never watched the show, or opening... But I checked the real thing on youtube, THEN this... And I must say, that was -masterfully- done.

ReplyDeleteI think he means "do stuff", like do more than paste clips of the show over a song.
ReplyDeleteSamurai Champloo+ponies?...huh.
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome! I love Samurai Champloo and I love this.
ReplyDelete@Amos Champloo means mix. Samurai Champloo mixes the traditional samurai life with hip hop.
ReplyDeleteThis is the best crossover PMV next to Pony Bebop!
That was pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteI too hope to someday so stuff.
Saw this one a few minutes ago on the Brony Facebook. I love this show so much, and this guy got the expressions down damn near perfect.

ReplyDeleteToo bad the guy who wrote the song for Samurai Champloo died. :(

ReplyDeleteAnd thanks ED for watching it!
SOMEPONY for the love of CELESTIA make a Nujabes pony! R.I.P. Jun, your beat still laments Equestria.
ReplyDeletei used to love samurai champloo, and that was just pure amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe video is very good and accurate to the original.

Nujabes? Samurai Champloo? Ponies?
ReplyDeleteYou see this, Hasbro? It's my money. Take all of it, and make this happen. For realsies.
Also, Dash replacing Mugen was cool; Scootaloo replacing Mugen's chicken was hilarious.
This needs to be the S2 Opening sequence. Make it so.

Please to not feed the troll.
@atzel Well unfortunately - or fortunately (according to our tastes of course) - it wouldn't be a Samurai Champloo pony parody without the song XD
ReplyDeleteAwesome video, even though I think Rarity would make a better Jin.
ReplyDeleteOh, and the whole Samurai Champloo series is available on Funimations youtube page (dubbed, but very well dubbed) if anyone wants to check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-qhxMrxDz4
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteBut feeding trolls is FUN!
Oh,oh! Let's throw him a party with looooooooooots of cupcakes :D
This is the Queen of all PMVs thus far.
ReplyDeleteI got goosebumps and I orgasm from the sexy awesome that is this video.
i hate rap and have no idea what the PMV was referencing, but great effort
ReplyDelete...why no Pinkie, Rarity or Twilight though?
@Namefag Anon
ReplyDeleteThe intro/theme was probably too short to feature the Mane 6 while staying faithful to the original.
Great PMV! Applejack will always seem like a samurai to me after watching the Samurai Applejack PMV. :P
Just because there was some more complex video editing going on, doesn't mean it's good. I don't really like it. :/
ReplyDeleteIt's an amazing work of course, but I don't think it should be some kind of standard PMVs are held up to...
ReplyDeleteNice use of DUMB FABRIC!
ReplyDelete(HuffytheMagicDragon)
I'd watch it.
ReplyDeleteThat was pretty clever.

My complements to the creator!

ReplyDeleteMany congrats.
Now THIS is how you make an exquisite PMV. Most excellent, indeed!
ReplyDeleteThat was fantastically editted together.
ReplyDeleteNow let's see what the creator can do with the other Samurai Champloo rap:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtP2tPUw3AU&feature=related
I never get tired of this rap in that anime, lol
This is the best thing I've ever watched, besides FiM of course.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm off to start watching Samurai Champloo again.
I think you just won my affection, how little of an award it may be.

First Black Lagoon, now Samurai Champloo.
ReplyDeleteAs a brony who enjoyed the former and absolutely adored the latter (it's still my all-time favorite anime!), I approve.
