For me it was a 3-way tie between Lyra, Octavia and Scratch. I ended up picking Scratch, in the end, because I can be a *LOT* more casual at that type of show.

I have recently been saying quite frequently that I hope Sweetie Belle gets more songs in season 2. I really liked Hush Now, Quiet Now.

This poll reminds me of that beautiful story that was posted recently centred around Lyra and her playing and singing. It was called "One Day They'll Throw Roses" or something similar.

Well, cello is my favourite instrument, so I'm a little biased. Lyra may be my favourite background pony, but we have not once seen her actually play. Hopefully someday. . .

VastaKustutaI'm sorry, but techno/rave music doesn't hold a candle to classical/orchestrated to me.
I would have preferred to listen to Octavia play, I prefer classical to hip-hop/rave/whatever kind of music you call what Vinyl plays.
VastaKustutaBut then it hit me, what happens at each of their concerts? Being at a performance of Octavia's would mean sitting quietly in a seat without the chance to get those around me, unless it's a formal event like the Grand Galloping Gala. And my tastes towards those kind of events take a similar path as Princess Celestia's do (Boooooring!)
Now, while I may not be a dancer by any definition, being at a performance of Vinyl's would mean being able to move around, meet the other ponies (OTHER PONIES! WOOHOO!), and make a fool of myself if I so desire. That's the experience I would prefer, and that's why I voted as I did, for Vinyl Scratch.
I would love to see Octavia in concert. However, when you put Scratch in the mix, I have to go with what I'll have more fun doing.

Dvorak's "New World Symphony" was part of the first classical concert I attended about 8 years ago. I still rate it as one of the greatest moments of my life.
I said 'Other' for 'All the above', a duet with Lyra and Pony X, a duet with Scratch and Pony X, a concert of everypony individually, and a concert with myself.

VastaKustutaa nice peaceful evening of lyre music. mmm, actually, i'm going to go find my old Total War soundtrack files. the medieval and roman era music is really relaxing.
here was my reasoning.
VastaKustuta1. Octavia: I've always really loved Double Bass Concertos and other Double Bass solo pieces. I make classical music and with that also comes my obligatory classical music bias.
2. Pinkie pie (Other): Because she sings so much Daniel Ingram music and skillfully plays multiple instruments simultaneously.
3. Scratch: Oonts oonts is so easy to appreciate. Thus I appreciate it.
4. Sweetie Belle: While I'd love to support a fellow vocalist, she isn't that great. Makes sense seeing as how she is still just a filly though.
5. Lyra: Sits funny in the show... which is entertaining I guess... but I've never really cared too much for lyres/harps/blah as the sole feature of a piece.
I love Sweetie Belle's dumbshit character but i hate her singing, so she's out. I hate techno and rave, scratch is out.
VastaKustutaI do like harps but cellos take the cake with me, Octavia it is. Plus, the structure and sound of classical music resembles that of many metal bands i like, so it was kind of an easy pick. :)
I dislike techno but I voted Pon-3 because frankly, based on her looks, she'd try to put on a show, instead of just doing a performance
VastaKustutaYou realize that there's enough people who didn't vote for Octavia or Scratch that if they only had those two choices, Octavia could easily beat out Scratch.

As per Sweetie singing in season 2, I wouldn't doubt it, but she'd still refuse to sing to an audience, citing nervousness.
