First off we have a PMV to the really neat Proud to be a Brony song, followed by one of the most professional video explanations of FiM I have seen so far (something I'd probably show people instead of explaining it myself tbh.)
And finishing off with a really neat song that I can't really figure out a category for. If it's dubstep, then I guess I have finally been converted.
1.) Proud to Be a Brony
2.) Something's WRONG with MY LITTLE PONY Friendship is magic
3.) Rainbow Factory

Very Cool
ReplyDeleteHeh, saw the blunty video pop up on my subscription list this morning. Not surprised to see he's a fan.
ReplyDeleteGlaze is awesome
ReplyDeleteyes ponies!
ReplyDeletelol I sent the first one to Seth the second I heard it
ReplyDeleteWow, Blunty endorsing MLP. Incoming ass-ton of new Bronies.
ReplyDeleteAll this stuff is really high quality.
ReplyDeleteOh joy, another famous Internet guy thinks Dash is gay/bi. Where are the Bronies that think she's straight? Hiding? Non-existent? I wanna know. I mean, really, does she have to be gay EVERY shipping fic? It gets tiring.
ReplyDeleteThis is some pretty good stuff. I love all three of them.
ReplyDelete@s
ReplyDeletePoint me to developed male characters, and I'll begin straight dash as immediately as I can.
YES! RAINBOW FACTORY IS ON EQD! I found that song last night and listened to it all day today at school.
ReplyDeleteThat last one. MOAR! Oh God! Feel. Urge. To. Remix! Needs machine sounds and factory noise! SOMEONE STEAMPUNK THIS UP!
ReplyDelete@NinesTempest While you have a point there, I fail to see how this is a hinderance. Since when does 'anything' not apply to the 'anything' in 'we can ship RD with ANYTHING'? Did I mention ANYTHING?
ReplyDeleteProps to WoodenToaster for Rainbow Factory. That shit is LEGIT!
ReplyDeleteThree awesome vids, thank Celestia for this post of mightiness!!
ReplyDeletemaybe #2 will convert my idiot friend who thinks me and my brony friends are weird-os and called the bronies in rooster teeth fags even though he's a massive fan
ReplyDeleteWow, the third one was quite good.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Rainbow Factory, what is it, exactly? A remix? An original?
ReplyDelete..... Why was I expecting Banjo Kazooie? Why WASN'T it Banjo Kazooie?
#1) I think this should become the brony theme song. I'd love to hear the levels fixed up just a bit so that the background sound bytes are a bit louder.
ReplyDelete#2) Brilliantly said!
#3) That's the first remotely-dub-step I've ever liked...very well done
@s
ReplyDeleteShe is much of the fandom's favorite character, and shipping is 1/3 of the fandom, therefore she will be shipped quite often.
I fail to see the issue here.
@Lemonite
ReplyDeleteLIEK A BAWWSSSS
I find songs like Rainbow Factory to be very interesting. Especially with the lyrics and general mood of the song. I don't get why, but I find something very satisfyingly creepy in songs that give a dark tone to something that would otherwise be completely harmless and cute.
It is also worth noting, that I dislike gore fics and any and all "horror" - both in and out of the fandom. Perhaps I prefer to be given a chill than to be given a cheap fright.
I always new blunty would like MLP ever since he did his video about pokemon way back when pearl and diamond came out.
ReplyDeleteBlunty lol
ReplyDelete@NinesTempest .... You fail to see the issue of my failing to see the issue?
ReplyDeleteFAILCEPTION?
@s
ReplyDeleteI'm right here. Although I tend to stay away from the brony label because 4chan is associated with it.
About the second vid, what if you are a girl? Can we still call our selves a Brony. Cause that's what Iv been doing...And are you only a Brony if you are 20 years old and over?
ReplyDeleteGood voice, mister man-in-the-second-video. He's got the Tenant scottish accent, if I'm not mistaken.
ReplyDelete3 very good pics
ReplyDeleteSorry, *picks
ReplyDelete@dmtactical Alright, going for two miracles then?
ReplyDeleteBanjo Kazooie Pony remix?
*takes off fedora and makes pupp- pony face*
@sHonestly I never really had the slightest thought of it at all until others brought it up. She might be a tomboyish pony, but that doesn't make her gay or bisexual. People are too quick to judge.
ReplyDelete@Sketchy Stars I've heard them being called 'fillies' as well. But no, the age limit is eleven or twelve, in my opinion.
ReplyDelete(only saying this because fourteen :c )
Third one is bloody epic.
ReplyDelete@s
ReplyDeleteI hear ya, but it IS a tough prospect when nearly all the prominent characters are female. That's why Spike is so useful... XD
I thought "Proud to be a Brony" was great on its own, but coupling it with the video just seals the deal. Brony theme song, indeed.
second vid was awesome
ReplyDelete@s
ReplyDeletedont worry bro. I think shes straight.
she loves teal colts (hint hint soarin)
rainbow factory is awesome
ReplyDeleteand the 2nd video is pretty good to explain the show if only there were more english-talking people here lol
@Drumfreak2421 Well, not that I thought she was gay at all until others brought it up either, but still, it's not like I'm anti-gay and hate gay RD, but.... I want a break, you know? Isn't that what Bronies are about? Being different than what others call us? And the first insult that comes to mind is, who knew, 'ur gay lolllololollool11111' So, you know, I just want Dash to not be gay. For once.
ReplyDelete@JC But Spike always gets Sweetie Belle when he's turned into a pony. :c
ReplyDelete@sTotally see where you are coming from. I agree 100%. Stereotypes suck.
ReplyDeleteHoly... a new WoodenToaster MLP song.
ReplyDeleteMy body is ready
*hits play*
...I need to change my pants
@Drumfreak2421 I'm writing a fic about it now. c:
ReplyDelete"I am a man well known for having a superb pair of cranky pants which I hold on to with an iron kung-fu grip of DOOM! But my little ponies, psh, knocks all that away and I just, makes me smile"
ReplyDeleteThis is true. No matter how angered I am, I've yet to fail to smile at ponies. Especially at the 'extremely adorable' type of pictures. Find me someone who doesn't smile or d'aaw at THIS!
http://smockhobbes.deviantart.com/art/ATG-19-Everypony-Loved-213144486
That last one... is awesome... Seriously, this fandom has moved beyond just music (which is wonderful) and is now making awesome songs of ever Genre.
ReplyDelete1. Noice.
ReplyDelete2. This does serve as a good introduction. So what is a younger brony? A broal?
3. It's like if Foetus and Daft Punk got together for a dubstep inspired jam. I can get behind this.
@Razputin. WHAT *IS* THE LAST ONE?
ReplyDeleteIs it a remix? An original?
Why was I expecting Banjo Kazooie?
Why WASN'T it Banjo Kazooie?
My head.
ReplyDeleteIt shakes.
@s Just as long as where not called 'Hoenys' I think, since im 15, I still count as a Brony.I also like to think RD is straight BTW :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the beginning of the Straight Dash Revolution.
ReplyDeleteYOU SAW IT RIGHT HERE ON EQDAILY, FOLKS!
I dunno either. G'night, everypony!
@s
ReplyDeletei too believe she isnt bi. just saying
He thinks RD is bisexual and sexy... well that is creepy
ReplyDeleteCmon guys. Calm down.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows that Dash is canonically straight. It wouldn't be possible for them to make her a lesbian or bisexual in the show. The homosexual personality was just a silly concept derived from the combination of her tomboyish attitude and the lack of developed male characters.
No need to get so worked up over it.
Video to Proud to Be a Brony was pretty good. Great song of course.
ReplyDeleteSeems like some know who "Blunty" is. I feel bad because I do not. lol But I thought the video was pretty good and explained things well. Though it sounds like the clips of the show he included were a little messed. I'd use this too to tell people about it instead of trying to sum it up myself. Especially since I'm horrible at that anyway.
Really like Rainbow Factory. WoodenToaster is pretty good, so I expect things of this caliber from him. Nicely done.
@s
ReplyDeleteIt's an original, I am 100% sure. And I like it as much as Pony Swag.
@Lemonlite I'd still go to war. Just like I did when I joined the Scootalove factions.
ReplyDelete(ScootAlpharius Omegon jokes GO!)
This is one of the best video updates I've seen in a while. This entire update is consistently amazing.
ReplyDeleteThis is seriously making up for the clusterfuck earlier today.
Gonna show that explanation to people.
ReplyDeleteThis explanation came too late; I wore a Dash t-shirt to school and now I'm a hero.
ReplyDeleteReally, I wear it and the next day this friend of mine is telling me about that one Nightmare Moon bust in the pilot.
ReplyDeleteCompletely blown away by the third one. Can't get enough. Could use some more industrial elements, though.
ReplyDeleteAfter the day I've had, that first video almost made me cry...
ReplyDelete1. very nice, especially the song, which for some reason I haven't heard before/don't remember
ReplyDelete2. subbed. that is one cool guy
3. I thought this was a Fear Factory cover at first, only to be disappointed by dubshit
I still vote "finny" for female brony.
ReplyDeleteSweet, Blunty is a Brony. I didn't see that coming.
ReplyDeleteTo everyone who is trying to place #3 into a genre.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to classify it as, but as far as I know, it isn't dubstep. Dubstep (in part) is made dubstep because of the rythmic interplay between the percussion and the wobble bass. (at least in my understanding of it, someone correct me if I'm wrong).
For some reason, the last time I saw Proud to Be a Brony the first thing I thought was that it was a parody of "Proud to be an American" I just finished watching it and was glad to say the least that I did. The video was well synched and matched well. I don't know much about the song itself, but if they ever sang a little louder that would have been perfect since it was a little hard to understand some times. That may have just been my bad built in speakers though. The song itself was well done as well and he sang really well.
ReplyDeleteDunno much about the person doing the review/shout out/video thing about ponies, but that was pretty funny and in my opinion a fairly good explanation of the good points of the show.
The last one wasn't my thing, so I can't really say much or judge it.
As for all the Bi/Straight/Lesbian talk, I fall in the faction of whatever works. While she's straight in canon (unless otherwise unproven, I can't remember if Lauren commented on this) I don't see why it's such a big deal for her to be portrayed differently in a fan made work or thought. Not that I'm specifically saying anyone, just that some people do seem to get heated about this.
Since it's fan made they could be shipping Madame Le Flour with John the Bear (I think that was his name) with Applebloom in a bizarre love triangle and consistency would only matter in the context of that story. I'm not saying to make things ridiculously out of character and have the story make no sense, but if it works, then that should make the art/story/idea that much better. Added to this, she is also one of the easier characters to make bi/lesbian compared to someone like say Rarity, not that anyone stops them from that either.
Methinks being a brony depends on whether you label yourself as such, especially since most of the people who know the term are out of the target demographic anyways.
ReplyDeleteRainbow Factory needs a new download avenue! >.< RIGHT MEOW!
ReplyDeleteJust to add to all the eargasmic glory that is the third song, I'm not a fan of that sort of music, but this...this is just pure awesome!
ReplyDelete@s
ReplyDeleteThe ponies don't have a sexuality, they are neither straight nor gay nor inbetween. On what grounds do you have to claim RD is straight based on the canon.
Straight is not the default position, when you argue that it makes you not only sound like an idiot but a bigoted idiot.
RD's sexuality is whatever YOU want it to be, but there is no official one. Want to write a fanfic or draw a pic of her with bronies, go ahead, but understand your actions are exactly in line with canon either.
I should really be able to name the genre of Rainbow Facotry
ReplyDeletefuck...
@Fallin' Winter
ReplyDeleteActually Lauren responded to it, saying that she was offended that everbody was making her out to be a lesbian just because of her tomboyish behavior.
@monkeyshine89
ReplyDeleteAlso, this, on so many levels.
The /only/ pony with a canon sexuality is Rarity. And it's anything that isn't pure homosexual.
@monkeyshine89
ReplyDeleteUhm dude I think your forgetting about Rarity wanting blueblood to propose to her so that she could be a princess. I think that confirms her as straight
@Eytan
ReplyDeleteI should hope anyone be offended by being judged purely on a stereotype. But she could still be a lesbian for any number of other reasons.
Not that you're contesting that...
@s
ReplyDeleteAdditionally Faust herself made this statement
Lauren Faust responded to these claims, stating that while Rainbow Dash was a tomboy, "nowhere in the show is her sexual orientation ever referenced" and "assuming [tomboys] are lesbians is extremely unfair to both straight and lesbian tomboys"
She has no sexuality to reference, so she could be anything people wanted to assign to her. Personally I would find it refreshing to have a lesbian/bi protagonist pony.
DANG IT!!!
ReplyDeleteI am getting pretty freaking tired of people only calling the guys Bronys.
Brony can be a combination of "bro" or /b/ or "Pony" it doesn't really matter.
I'm a girl and I proudly call myself and any other avid fan a Brony. But when people only focus the male viewers, it feels like not only females fans but myself personally are being shoved aside, almost like we're less important fans even though I know that's not the case. I'm tired of people asking what the female fans are called with no answer, people claiming Brony is only for the male viewers.
I love this community and want to be a part of it, but I guess it just rubs be the wrong way a bit when the female fans are disregarded or unacknowledged. Don't we believe that gender doesn't matter, that we are all united under something we love?
Eeeeh sorry about rambling. It just gets to me sometimes :P
I write stories were she is straight, but she is shipped with an OC cause there just isn't that many males to go around (my stories span into the next gen) but I know OC cause some people to get spontaneous hernias.
ReplyDeleteTwi, shy, AJ, and Rarity are shipped with ponies from the show Pinkie and Dash are not in my stories.
@etyan-
ReplyDeleteShe could still be bi who knows... The point is pony sexuality and sexual relationships really aren't addressed on the show... probably because it's a show for children, and those things just are not big deals to children.
blunty3000 is a brony ...i used to watch all of his videos =)) ...he's a funny guy :D
ReplyDeleteBrony, I think, should mean any fan old enough and internet-savvy enough to know the term, really, be it male or female, 13 or 30, doesn't matter really.
ReplyDeletePeople tend to ship characters with characters with other characters they've interacted with and share a chemistry with, or with characters that seem to have complimentary/opposing personalities. Since FiM has a grand total of one male that appears at any length (and he's a child), that means that the cast has to have at least some shades of homosexuality for any shipping to actually work- that's not just Rainbow Dash, it's the entire cast. Rainbow's just unfortunate enough to have chosen the same colors as the gay pride movement, leading to association via Rule of Funny.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't see the issue, really. Ship whoever you want with whoever, who cares as long as the story's good? It's not going to be canon either way you slice it, so you're allowed to make up whatever fanon you'd like.
By the way, all three videos here are glorious, and Blunty is amazing.
@Ink
ReplyDeleteIronic, isn't it? Anyway, I have no problem with female fans calling themselves bronies, just because it makes more sense for the fandom to have a single title. That being said, I think being a male brony is different than being a female brony. It takes a certain level of guts for a man to give a show like this a shot. Women needs guts too, but there's a big difference between "Ew! You like a kid's show?" and "Ew! You like a little girl's show?" All I'm saying is that I doubt many people will accuse female bronies of being creepy pedophiles. Or gay. I've already been called a "fairy" by a friend for liking this show. inb4 parasprite joke
At the same time, the fandom should be united and all that good stuff.
And for something more on topic, I like to view Rainbow Dash as straight. Not a big fan of token characters, period. And even then, I'd prefer to keep sexuality out of My Little Pony completely. Can't we just enjoy something innocent for once?
Wow, that last one was awesome.
ReplyDeleteSecond video was okay. The part where he bashed conservatives ruined it a bit for me.
@actionscripter9109
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't bashing conservatives, he was bashing the nut jobs who think everything is an attack on values...unless you are part of the group who jumped on the Harry Hatin' bandwagon it wasn't about you. Sheesh why must everything be so political nowadays?
@Bonsai
ReplyDeleteWhen we first listened to Glaze's for toastbeard somepony called it Industrial Step. It is definitely Something Step at least.
@Lafter
ReplyDeleteI hear and obey.
Rainbow factory mp3 (unauthorized):
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?r6uj6zscc86gjy8
Foreshadowing: The last few seconds of Blunty's Thundercats review mentions his discovery of FiM
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete#1. I find this song completely interoperable.
ReplyDelete#2. Pretty much like what happened with, me except replace memes with web comics. Well done.
Rainbow Factory isn't dubstep, I know that much at least. Dubstep is centered around building tension up in a song to a high point, then breaking down into a 'drop'.
ReplyDeleteHere, listen up to 0:35, that's the drop. From what I'm told by my brother, who's big into the genre, a song needs this drop to be dubstep.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q9rewnLFYw
The more you know!
@s
ReplyDeleteOkay, Fine, I'll write something in which she is straight if it will get you to stop complaining. Now... who to ship her with...
Bloomberg. Nice, straight, has a lot of wood for the ladies, and is male if name has anything to do with it. RainbowXBloomberg it is.
I knew it was only a matter of time till someone made the first one. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am now subscribed to Blunty.
That's one originally piece right there.
Blunty's a brony. I just heard the sound of a thousand haters cringing in unison
ReplyDeleteI bet a large portion of Blunty's subscribers (WHO ARE NOT OF THE HERD)reacted to the vid with a "WTF IS THIS SHIT!"o.0
ReplyDelete@Parasoja
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link to download Rainbow Factory.
#1 is amazing of course, but I've already said that. The video is very well-done too. I'd say it does the song justice.
#2 was pretty good. He did seem to stray a bit from the topic in the end though, which would detract from my willingness to use it as a frontrunner to explain bronydom to the outside.
#3 was great too.
@monkeyshine89
ReplyDeleteThere are loonies on all sides, but only Conservatives were attacked. :\ I admit to being "put off" by that as well. Not going to delve into it, though... Politics are major predators to friendships.
I really liked the Proud To Be A Brony video. Loved the song, despite the genre being something I really don't care for. The lyrics are awesome enough to overshadow any dislike for the musical style.
@Ink
ReplyDeleteI agree with you wholeheartedly. I feel this needs to be addressed at some point...
#1 - This is actually the first time I've ever heard that song...never personally been a huge fan of the lyrical portions of songs related to the show (including the canon ones, actually), but I've always been hypercritical of song numbers in everything I watch, so that's just me being me. This one does seem to continue the interesting trend of very quiet vocals in brony songs (with "Pony Swag" being the only exception I can think of, and not coincidentally one of the few I love unabashedly). Still waiting for my thrash metal brony anthem.
ReplyDelete#2 - Nothing makes my night like a good rant. I'm surprised that the cutie mark tattoo conspiracy and canon Dash looking like...well, like fanon Dash were the only things he noticed that could have been right-wing misintrepreted like that. We haven't even started on Twilight's blatant atheism and the clear-cut communist undertones of Equestrian society.
#3 - Interesting track...I kind of like it. Although it's definitely not dubstep based on my knowledge of the genre, which mostly consists of me saying, "Is there a drop? No? Then it's not dubstep." That pretty much sums it up, right?
My brother is big into dubstep, and he's gotten me interested in it too, some of it anyway.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm not a pro on the ins-and-outs of it by any means, but from other dubsteps I've listened to, wouldn't 0:25 of rainbow factory be 'the drop'?
Regardless, I love it. Downloaded and added to my growing playlist of pony!
#1 should be a commercial on HUB someday. It's so emotionally powerful and highlights just about everything this fan-base is about and has gone through.
ReplyDelete#2 made me laugh a lot.
#3 Badass. Love it.
#3 is SOOOO epic
ReplyDelete#2 is actually the first time I saw a video like that. It was posted next to a TobyGames video, and after I clicked it, my life changed forever. A thanks to him and maybe Tobuscus fans came here because of that. L8S.
ReplyDelete
