I think the lag of negativity is down to the fact that lots of people will find the guy's behaviour entirely creepy without them needing to do anything.
That and the fact that the KYM organisation has always been impartial and "scientific" about it's coverage of memes.
Either way, this is pretty much our official indoctrination into internet history. Well done, gentlemen.
Haha, yes! Love the ending. Looks like he's taking lessons from Pinkie and learning how to break the fourth wall. And now this is easily a linkable video to help explain to anyone why the show got so popular. Well, my source of the ponies was Youtube instead of 4Chan.
We must hold a delegation, bring together the best fanfic writers, custom pony makers, art drawers, clothmakers, PMV/AMV/etc editors, game creators, commenters, and admins together. There we shall hold a vote, though I bet either Sethisto or Cereal Velocity would win... Maybe Phoe...?
Quick, let's take him to a reclusive dojo in japan and train him up for a few decades so he'll be ready to fight the parasprite ninja warriors in the climax.
I saw the video on the KYM site about an hour before it got posted on here. Forest did a great job researching the information for MLP. KYM'ites (including me) are pretty respectful when it come to meme research, as it's serious business.
Even though 5/8 of KnowYourMeme are bronies, there are those haters on there, but even then, unless a flame war starts, it's hard to tell if that person hates ponies. And when it comes to Meme research, we unite to do business.
So yeah, it was cool how Forest mentioned Derpy as well. Since she is a confirmed meme, this episode actually killed two birds with one stone.
We KYM bronies were looking forward to this for ages. Great to see they kept it positive throughout, as well as making it generally quite informative. And when they finished it off with Skrillex... so much win...
"Surprisingly isn't negative". Seth, are you ignorant? If the ponies have been at the top of Know Your Meme for months, somepony on the site was bound to become a brony.
Bronyhood seems to be a "somewhat" more tolerated personal choice as time goes by, that, or the trolls are planning something against us. Either way, Love and Tolerance eternally fellow bronies.
@Anonymous Also, that's a thread from /v/ pretending there was a MLP fight game (long before Fighting is MAgic was announced) not one of the /co/ Generals.
Still saying all bronies are male though, people really need to realise that just because it's the internet and 'girls don't exist there' doesn't mean that all bronies must be male.
Also, the prophesised one can't be Seth, he's a hated figure on /b/ and /co/. It's obviously Phoe.
I actually found out about MLP:FIM from KYM. I'm a regular visitor there.
It's not surprising at all that there's no negativity in the video: their goal is to explain what why and how with as little bias as possible. Plus, the new video guy has been doing a great job so far.
I love how you can hear the 8-bit "Giggle at the Ghosties" in the background. :D Too bad they didn't mention the Stephen Colbert shoutout, though, but all in all it was a fun video to watch. I've always liked how KYM is so professional when it comes to their research. ^^
I have always personally thought that Know Your Meme was a website for people who lacked the drive to explore and discover different memes, even though I admire the positivity that they are giving the bronies,I still think that the community would have been better, smaller, and less abundant with trolls/parasprites had KYM not done that heavily promoted page that I feel just did not properly represent and reflect the Bronie way of life...

Who will be the great Brony from the prophecy who will unite us all against the parasprites?!
ReplyDeleteThe amount of tongue-in-cheek fandom nods is actually amazing.
ReplyDelete"Brohoof!"
Also the "unleash the experiment" momen obviously converted a million bronies to our cause with that foalproof subliminal messaging.
Song at the end is "Kill Everybody" by Skrillex

ReplyDeleteMLP:FiM - Love and Tolerance
ReplyDeleteEnding song - Skrillex-Kill Everybody
Ohh the irony...
Very informative and Lauren has a pretty sizeable collection of pony and non-pony toys.
ReplyDeleteWell it does have YouTuber Kristina Horner who is known for liking My Little Pony in general and her fandom have dubbed themselves Unicorn Warriors.

ReplyDeleteJust saying.

Love the girl in the back being the one person we all know who couldn't care less one way or another.

Haha, my friend is in this video!! Awesome B)
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIt's a well known fact of life that anything can be considered "researching" as long as you wear a lab coat while doing it.
...Now then, I'm going to grab my lab coat and go to the bar to "research."
First the chinese news, now the Meme show. It has begun...
ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for this, cant wait to get home to see it.
ReplyDelete@Asgard
ReplyDeleteNo, the Great Brony can not be chosen by us mere mortals. When the time is right, He will be revealed to us. All we can do now is wait.
PS: I'm so starting a cult (colt?) now. It will be marvelous and much better than the last cult I started. That one was an accident.
YESYEYSYESYES YEEEEESS!
ReplyDeleteI was a proud brony. Now I'm even prouder.
Oh fuck yes!
ReplyDeleteThis is soooooo awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Seth is the chosen one.
ReplyDeleteQuick, let's take him to a reclusive dojo in japan and train him up for a few decades so he'll be ready to fight the parasprite ninja warriors in the climax.
We've done it. Know your meme is ours! Celebrate my brothers and sisters! Our crusade will not end here!
ReplyDeleteSIEG PONIES!!!
The Internet will fall when season 2 airs.
ReplyDeleteyea im not surprised about there being no negativity...KYM acts really proffesional about these kind of things.
ReplyDeleteZOMG IT FINALLY HAPPENED!!!
ReplyDeleteALL OF MY FAVORITE THINGS FUSED TOGETHER ON THEIR OWN!!!

They played Skrillex...
ReplyDeleteoh god oh god so much yes.
That was AWESOME! Very well done. I'm so glad it stayed positive
ReplyDeleteI was pleasantly surprised to see how neutral and professional it was! They really took their time making this and it shows!
ReplyDeleteWe KYM bronies were looking forward to this for ages. Great to see they kept it positive throughout, as well as making it generally quite informative. And when they finished it off with Skrillex... so much win...
ReplyDelete"Surprisingly isn't negative".
ReplyDeleteSeth, are you ignorant? If the ponies have been at the top of Know Your Meme for months, somepony on the site was bound to become a brony.
Of course it isn't negative, Seth, derp.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud to be a part of something like this.
I feel important.
KnowYourMeme gets a lot of hate from my internet homeland (4chan), but I've always kind of liked them for their unbias and detailed research
ReplyDeletethis video proves that once again
Quick flash of porn at 2:09.
ReplyDeleteBronyhood seems to be a "somewhat" more tolerated personal choice as time goes by, that, or the trolls are planning something against us. Either way, Love and Tolerance eternally fellow bronies.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteAlso, that's a thread from /v/ pretending there was a MLP fight game (long before Fighting is MAgic was announced) not one of the /co/ Generals.
Someone get the fan fic writers - neigh, FAN ARTISTS to create a comic chronicling the search for....THE ONE BRONY who will unite the Internet!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised they didn't touch on this memes seemingly innate ability to absorb every other meme ever invented or yet to be.
ReplyDeleteStill saying all bronies are male though, people really need to realise that just because it's the internet and 'girls don't exist there' doesn't mean that all bronies must be male.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the prophesised one can't be Seth, he's a hated figure on /b/ and /co/. It's obviously Phoe.
Nah, the prophesied one is obviously Lauren Faust, I mean we wouldn't be here if it wasn't her right?
ReplyDeleteHah, I loved it. Thought it was hilarious. Also quite informative as well. I give it a brohoof. lol
ReplyDeleteBronies cannot be stopped...ACTIVATE IT
ReplyDeleteWinning! Charlie Sheen is proud!
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode. even though i already knew everything they covered in it.
ReplyDeleteThis could be really useful to explain the rise of the community at conventions and stuff..
ReplyDeleteI knew it was going to be awesome when Kristina mentioned it, but I never expected THIS!
Nice uncensored pony pronz thar KYM
ReplyDeleteFinally!
ReplyDeleteAfter months of MlP:FiM being the most watched, most active Meme on KYM, we got our stamp-of-approval video from the bosses *SQUEEE*
The weeurld shall be ouaaaahs!
ReplyDeleteI actually found out about MLP:FIM from KYM. I'm a regular visitor there.

ReplyDeleteRead lauren's DA page. She wants nothing more to do with ponies. She's trying to promote Galaxy Girls
ReplyDeletethis went better than expected.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Your statement is false it does not say she wants nothing do with ponies. Though she is promoting Galaxy Girls.
ReplyDeleteI have always personally thought that Know Your Meme was a website for people who lacked the drive to explore and discover different memes, even though I admire the positivity that they are giving the bronies,I still think that the community would have been better, smaller, and less abundant with trolls/parasprites had KYM not done that heavily promoted page that I feel just did not properly represent and reflect the Bronie way of life...
ReplyDeleteFirst minute of the video: Instant Pinkie Dash.
ReplyDeleteI love this guy now.
Great video, kudos to them for being positive/neutral. The guy on that episode is hillarious.
ReplyDeleteThis is Pure Win!
ReplyDeleteOh crap, that's my Rainbow Dash [is a] tank about halfway through this video.
ReplyDeleteThe video has a good explanation without any jokes or critisicm about mlp or bronies, KYM has gained all of my respect.
ReplyDelete>treats the war on /b/ like it was a big deal
ReplyDeleteI don't think so, tim
Holy hell that was awesome!
ReplyDeleteGendo_Celestia.png
ReplyDelete>MFW all goes according to plan...
Wait...
*sees Thermo Nuclear War in the tags*
uh oh... :3c
I don't care about the possibility of bias towards the fandom anymore.
ReplyDeleteWhat really matters to me now is whether the ponies can provide some form of enjoyment to individuals beyond the primary fanbase.
It's pretty obvious that KYM had an obscenely amount of fun making this video. That's enough for me.
That was actually surprisingly well done. KYM's Facebook page hasn't been the kindest to ponies, so seeing the actual site be professional was nice.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED THAT! The guy was funny with his brohoof's
ReplyDelete*SIGH* This is well done, and I am thankful it exists!
This is why I was already subbed to them.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome! This is about as good as we could hope for in terms of an explanation of bronies.
ReplyDeleteAND they used my 16-bit remix as background music for part of it! :D
Brony? I thought it was Bro + Pony, not this /b/ + Pony.....
ReplyDeleteAlso: About darn time! I was wondering when they would make a video for it!
ReplyDeleteI always liked KYM for how they made their videos.
ReplyDeleteSpread the love people!
ReplyDeleteI HAVE BEEN WAITING! FINALLY!
ReplyDeleteWas that a 4thwall brohoof there?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteKYM is notorious for doing little actual research.
Activate it!
ReplyDeleteThis is glorious!
ReplyDeleteWaah!
We people from KYM keep neutral statuses, but we do love our ponies.
ReplyDeleteThe more who spread the word
ReplyDeleteThe more who join the herd
