    2. The voices don't really fit...but it's impressive for a fandub.

    5. That's three Twilight Sparkle pics in a row. Are you still trying to make up for that previous post, Sethisto?

    6. NOW AFTER CONVERTING THE GERMAN POPULATION TO THE BRONYHOOD WE SHALL USE THEIR ENGINEERING ABILITIES TO CREATE A GIANT PORTAL THAT WILL I don't know do something?

    7. They did a really good job especially with the singing.

    8. Seth, it's the whole "Grass is greener on the other side" effect.

People who take Spanish in school have a chance of wanting to have learned German.
People who take German in school have a chance of wanting to have learned French.

      it's a vicious cycle...

    9. Those voices are adorable, even in German. I always wonder how well AJ's little country sayings translate into another language.

    10. For the first time in a while, I'm glad I learned German.

Even for me as a german brony.

    13. I took latin in high school, and it came in handy a few times.

    14. Ehhh...
Kinda meh about it. Hearing it in German (as German) is a bit weird.
The English voices are quite superior, I think.

      Das ist WunderBar!
Ich liebe es.Es ist gut Ja?

      ReplyDelete
    16. This is actually really well done. But why does AJ speak in English sometimes?

      ReplyDelete
    17. @cameronstalker
Germans tend to use a form of english that sounds like it's english if you get what I mean

      example: English computer game
      Deutsch computer spiel
      It sounds the same.

    18. This translation was a hell of a lot better than I expected. Especially Applejack is awesome, that american accent works for her.

    19. They should do the entire season. I am completely English speaking, I have little to no knowledge of German and I still enjoyed this a lot.

    20. German isn't cool. *awaits mob of angry germans*

      ReplyDelete
    21. @zSONICoz Ahh I didn't know that, thanks! I may have to study up some German!

      ReplyDelete
    22. @cameronstalker
No prob I wondered that when my German teacher said it. XD

      ReplyDelete
    23. I speak german myself and it sounds so awkward to me compared to the original most of the time.

      ReplyDelete
    24. This is really, really well done. Less perhaps the actual translation - keeping in mind translation is hard - than the actual voice work. I'm German myself, and I watched it from start to finish without cringing, that's got to mean something.

For a fandub, the quality is top notch. I think a professional dub will prove superior to some degree thanks to the prolific German dubbing culture and the money involved, but I could conceivably boot up Youtube and show this to one of my smaller cousins.

    25. Oh my god, Pinkie Pie is so annoying in German, I love it XD

      >People who take German in school have a chance of wanting to have learned French.

      ahahahahahahahaha

      no.

    26. @zSONICoz

      @cameronstalker

      no.

Actually AJ is talking English because they made her American in the dub. If you are German you can easily tell by her accent, so when she does speak English she *is* in fact speaking English and not just using German words which are borrowed from English like computer.

Thank you all so much for your positive comments brony's ♥

    30. Surprinsingly really good. Not as good as the english dub, but who can top that? And besides, it's a fandub. But the official German Fandub probably won't be better :D

      ReplyDelete
    31. They fucked up the Volume. You can very often hear the original sound track in the background and especially in the Rarity part this becomes noticeable

      ReplyDelete
    32. Holy shit I love Nightmare Moon XD

I think it's even more creepy than in the original.

      ReplyDelete
    33. It's actually a very good dub. Of course it is hard to make it as perfect as the original, because the voice acting is imho one of the best parts in the show. But it's honestly the best fandub I've ever heard and yeah I'm native german.

      ReplyDelete
    34. I'm not a native speaker, but I've been studying in Austria for some time (my german isn't great, but I'm decent anyway) This was fantastic! I will say however that Applejack in German with a southern accent is outrageously funny! Especially considering I'm from the south and sometimes my accent slips through when I'm particularly tired (or have been drinking!)

Can't wait to see it continue!

      ReplyDelete
    35. I can't explain why, but I absolutely love this! Though I don't speak German, the acting in this really sounds excellent!

And Twilight saying "Nein, nein, nein!" won me over instantly.

      ReplyDelete
    36. I don't know barely any German, but the tone was pretty close to the original. Not perfect, but it was a lot better than I expected. Twilight and Fluttershy were especially good.

      ReplyDelete
    37. AJ possessing Gratuitous English in her dialogue?

      Every dub must have this.

      ReplyDelete
    38. german fluttershy is my favorite thing ever.

      ReplyDelete
    39. Hey I speak spanish

      Español> Aleman

      ReplyDelete
    40. Not bad at all (though I can't understand German in the slightest). But some of those voices sounded really flat and unnatural, as if they were simply reading off the script instead of actually *voice-acting*.

      ReplyDelete
    41. @cameronstalker My guess is that they don't have a German equivalent of those words [the ones she's speaking in English]. I know that from experience [I'm a spanish major, and sometimes I have to use the English word because there's no Spanish equivalent, like USB, hard-drive, etc etc]

      ReplyDelete
    42. I loved AJ's thick American accent <3

    44. I'm impressed. I really liked the VO of Spike and Pinkie Pie's fast pace was well pulled out. The last NMM's evil laugh was priceless. I congratulate the whole team!

    47. Hey guys, here is the german voice-actor of Twilight!

I'm very happy that a lot of people like our fandub of MLP FiM and regard our effort that we gave into this project.

Thank you Equestria Daily for postin' our episode. We are already workin' in the second episode and we hope the bronies will watch it, too.

      ReplyDelete
    48. Not bad for a fandub... cant be worse than the official one will be. We usually get horrible dubs here and the younger the target audience the worse it will get, because the producers wont give a damn about the quality and the brats wont notice or care anyways. We will see... I heard it will air in autumn here.

      ReplyDelete
    49. I think they really nailed the voices! It sounds really professional.

      ReplyDelete
    50. Native German here. Well done dub. They set the stakes pretty high for the official dub. I loled quite a bit, and there were some miniscule cringe worthy things but all in all a project worthy of syndicated. AJs stereotypical American Accent is wonderful. Spike is missing some of his snark, but he sounded like Ilona Schulz (from "Walter Moers - Das kleine Arschloch") sustituting that style of snark. It seemed that all VA were growing into their voices.

      ReplyDelete
    51. Ok watched it now. Twilights voice is good, Rainbowdash too, Pinkie Pie is pretty much spot on I think. Rarity and Celestia... not so much. AJ as mentioned got a stereotypical American accent which fits although the voice actor needs to act a bit more. Fluttershys voice needs to be cuter but I guess it would be hard even for the most dedicated fandubbers to come anywhere near the English voice. Spike was fine too. Nightmare Moon too... if I remember right the same voice actor does both NMM and Celestia. Should have done that for the fandub too. And they had some translation errors but if you dont know the original you wont notice anyways.

I expected to go facepalm but it turned out it indeed is a pretty good fandub.

      ReplyDelete
    52. meh ignore my screw up in the last line... that happens when you rewrite half a sentence at the last second without reading it.

      ReplyDelete
    53. Great voices, especially for a fandub. Giving Applejack an American accent is a great idea: you're not really going to find a German regional accent that carries the same implications as a Texas one, but an American one makes perfect sense. Pinkie's VA also did an amazing job. The others are all well-cast, but some are better at acting than others. If this continues, they should grow into their roles nicely.

      ReplyDelete
    54. @Vadios83 "if I remember right the same voice actor does both NMM and Celestia."

Sorry, you remembered wrong. NMM/Luna is played by Tabitha St. Germain, who also plays Rarity. Celestia's VA is Nicole Oliver, who plays no other major roles on the show.

      ReplyDelete
    55. MUCH better than the Spanish dubs. :)

    58. Wow. Really, wow. Mostly because I could actually understand it...
      Yay for taking German.
      Anyways,sounded quite nice.

      ReplyDelete
    59. Felt awesome being able to understand almost the entire thing. Good to know that I can put my years of learning German to good use!

      ReplyDelete
    60. Understood nothing, but I know most of the lines from the episode anyway so it's all good. The voices matched pretty well to me. At the least, it's good quality.

Really though, German Twilight Sparkle and Rarity give me the strangest wing boner.

    61. I'm impressed.
      I wish I knew German.

    62. ich bin ok damit
      I am ok with that

it is better as the german original
      and it is ok...

      ReplyDelete
    63. I can't believe I watched those 2 vids and I knew exactly what they were talking about. Excellent work with the voice acting I say!

      ReplyDelete
    64. Coming from Ein deutscher I must say the translations are really really spot on, and a lot of effort is put into the voice acting, but... Yeah the American voices are better, they are the professionals.

Also I'm wondering what will happen when they get to Zecora, are they going to just translate her rhymes strait forward, or will they go to the HORRIBLE PAINFUL effort of trying to translate her rhymes into ones that also rhyme in German... That won't be easy...

      ReplyDelete
    65. I don't speak German, but I watched this with fascination. (It's funny what words jump out--for me, I kept hearing it every time they said Dunkelheit, which I only knew as a monster name from Ragnarok Online!)

But what got me really curious was the voice of the Bürgermeister. She had a markedly different manner of speech--was that meant to be age, or a particular accent, or was it just her sounding snooty and formal? I'm dying to know, I love accents in foreign languages.

      ReplyDelete
    66. Doing Zecora's rhymes in German won't be so bad if they have a little leeway with the literality. I mean...they're pretty terrible in English.

      ReplyDelete
    67. Is cool, aber manche begriffe klingen einfach zu witzig wenn man sie übersetzt hört :)

    68. I'm Germany, and I am completely and utterly in love with this. The translation was bumpy in parts (I expect the official translation to be better) but the voice acting was fantastic. I seriously doubt that our professional voice actors will make such a good job of capturing the original personalities and tone. Of course real bronies would know the characters inside out, while professional voice actors have to assume and guess a lot. This has set a high standard... I think when the German version is out, we will find that this fan dub tramples all over it.

I wish I could see all episodes with this fan dub. (I realise that I am being greedy here... :p)

I loved it, please make more!!

    69. Another native german here. (So, my English is terrible, sorry...)
The original is better, of course. But this fandub is MUCH better, than I expectet - I love the voices of Twilight Sparkle, Applejack (the accent is great!) and Nightmare Moon!
Spike, Rarity and Fluttershy are also okay, Pinkie Pie... too. But in my opinion Rainbow Dash's voice is terrible! (The voice-acting is good, but I think the voice sounds too much like a girl... I think, Rainbow Dash should get a more "male voice" (if this is correct English ^^"). And yes, i know that Rainbow Dash is a girl. :P)
And the Mayor... sounds weird. o_o

Nevertheless it's very great. I prefer the original, but I'll watch the german version, too. So I'm looking forward to the second episode - particularly to Celestia's and Luna's voices and Pinkie's song!

(Once again: Excuse me for my bad English. ^^")
