It's DVD cover time! Thanks to everyone that entered! There are some pretty freakin amazing ones in here.
The next event will be a much longer, so I apologize to everyone that complained about the deadline. I kind of did this spur of the moment.
All entries can be found after the break!

ReplyDeleteAlso, get it off the mainpage XDD
After the break, eh?

ReplyDeleteForget something, Seth? =D
ReplyDeleteSeth... there may be a lack of breaks to go with this. Just to warn you.
ReplyDeleteYou broke the front page.
ReplyDeleteYou broke it Seth.
ReplyDeleteYou broke it and now it's dead.
Holy Glomped my Front Page, Sethisto!
ReplyDeleteWow, look at all the DVD covers... I'm impressed. A few of these are really amazing; others really don't appeal to me though. xD
ReplyDeleteBreak, not back in 10 seconds flat.
ReplyDeleteOH GOD PAGEBREAK
ReplyDeleteIt takes up the entire fucking front page......
ReplyDeleteSeth, I think we need to do something about your page-break neglect.
Whoah, I never had a "first"!
ReplyDeleteHmm...Strange, I don't feel the sensation.
Oh well *shrug*
You broke the break, and the home page.
ReplyDeleteThe first cover kind of reminds me of Ace Attorney box art because of the characters in rectangles.
ReplyDeleteAlso, some of these covers look really good.
ReplyDeleteNow we just need to find a way to get this thrown into Hasbro's face.
"See this?! DO EEET!!!"
Seth accidentaly the page break.
ReplyDeleteBreak broke! Invasion of the DVD covers!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! This creativity is why I love this fandom.
ReplyDeleteHoly COW, these are amazing. I love this fan community sooooooooo much! Only complaint I'd give to some of them is that sometimes there's too much contrast in the background behind the text on the back cover.
ReplyDeleteI want all of this theses
ReplyDeletePAAAAAGGEEE BRRRREEEEAAAAKKKKK
ReplyDeleteOh God, that Criterion Collection one made me giggle.
ReplyDeleteI hate how that stupid Twi vector of mine has sort of become the 'brony stock' Twilight. I did such a terrible job with it, STOP SHARING IT ARGH!
ReplyDeleteNr. 7 is by far the best entry, and the most likely one too.
ReplyDeleteX'D could have put in a page break there seth, this has wiped out the whole front page!
ReplyDeleteOn a more relative note, most of these look amazing. I wish I'd have entered for this D:
I dig the break mate :D
ReplyDeleteSilly Seth, page breaks are your friends. Awesome covers too.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteTHEN WHO WAS PHONE
Ah, the break is fixed now. Well recovered.
ReplyDelete#9 pissed me off for reminding me of that fic, and then made me sad because I was reminded of that fic. ;_;
ReplyDeleteLong post is looooooooong...
ReplyDeleteAll these entries are amazing! I wish I could have entered this(that's it, I'm downloading GIMPS). #5 and #7 are my favorites, they have logical cover design and they look awesome! Great job everypony! *applause stomp*
4-brony edition? that would be so cool
ReplyDeleteFull box set. My money. You take. NAOW! Great work on these, though! Most of them could even pass for official.
ReplyDeleteA lot of these are really... busy. Even so, there's more than a few awesome entries in here.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does number ten look like a Full House season box set?
ReplyDelete#1 - I like the design.
ReplyDelete#4 or #8 - I wish one of these would happen. Special edition for bronies ^-^ I know it won't, but I can dream and hope dies last :P
Note for the brony edition: I thinka full black cover just doesn't go with MLP, brony edition or not.
#9 - Seriously...I almost sweared. I don't want to be reminded of that story on a DVD cover, it made my cry.
#10 - If I had to choose only one, I think I would go for this.
#15 - Gief !!!
#18 - Nice set, I dig it
The last one, #18 by PonyRock is the best looking one to me. I can see there was a lot of effort put into it. Excellent work!
ReplyDeleteNumber seven is my fav. Number nine confuses me.
ReplyDeleteBREAKING THE PAGE! BREAKING THE PAGE!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of these would have to be source 10, although I do hope it's creator could edit their work after reading through the series summary o n the box they made.
Misspelling Twilight Sparkle? Pinkie Pie not on the list of ponies?
*facehoof*
Other than that the design is fantastic. Trixie Approved indeed.
Some of those... are simply amazing. My favorites are 2,3,5,and 7.
ReplyDelete...BUMCAKES! I forgot about this contest... Congrats to all the creative bronies.
ReplyDeleteReally wish I remembered. :(
#3) Probably is my Twilight vector. Might be somepony elses. Eh. You're welcome.
ReplyDeletehttp://fav.me/d41d8vk
18) I know those are my vectors. Note Rarity's horn lacks the grooves on it. Also the open RD and R mouths. http://fav.me/d41nylf
Next time at least link me e.e
Hey! Anyone official looking at these? In case you haven't guessed, we'd REALLY like a Season One DVD/Blu-Ray!
ReplyDeleteI think, that it would be awesome, is Hasbro and/or Hub Staff was looking at this post right now, debating, thinking which one they should choose. If you are here, post either "Cupcakes are tasty" on the My Little Pony Facebook, or "Dance Puppets Dance" On Lauren Faust's Deviant ART.
ReplyDeleteWOOH! DJ Pon-3 editions!
ReplyDeleteNumber 3 looks like the most appropriate for the DVD cover for the first season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm not even going to choose. These are all fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I must say, the two I would probably be most likely to buy are #'s 1 and 18.
Wow, there are so many really great entries here. Some look professional quality or at least close to it. I expected that though from this talented community. :) Really hard to pick a favorite amongst them.
ReplyDelete#8 Yay, a DJ PON-3 edition, awesome. Good features and snappy cover.
#15 Hah! Return of Trixie. I'd love this edition as well because, well, we get to see Trixie again. And that will be- err, would, be awesome. :)
#9
ReplyDeleteOH DEAR CELESTIA, NOT THAT
Hasbro, make #4 edition now. All of my money if you do.
ReplyDeleteI also think that either 10, 13, or 16 are the best.
ReplyDeletethey all look shit
ReplyDeleteWell now Hasbro has no reason to not make a DVD set. They've got plenty of designs to choose from, and I'm sure the original artists will be as permissive with their usage as Hasbro was with the show.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteur penis looks shit. oh wait that's because it's covered in it. MY MISTAKE. carry on nigger.
That Ultimate Blu-Ray edition would be enough to make me buy a Blu-Ray player. Hasbro, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!
ReplyDeleteAmaretto wins, simply for providing *bleeds!*
ReplyDeleteI'd buy the Criterion edition in a heartbeat.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 6:31
ReplyDeleteThis is such a constructive comment and totally not an obvious attempt at trolling.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteOh look. It's a troll. Hi troll!
All of these look so good
ReplyDeleteDude, 18... I WILL BUY THAT.
ReplyDeleteTake my money.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's my real name. I don't mind you using it though, I should've left it out of the sig. Also, the disc/no disc labels are swapped.
ReplyDeleteGreat contest, I'm surprised at how many of us included the soundtrack.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThat's not how business works you ignorant chucklefuck.
@Anonymous 6:31
ReplyDelete*insert pictures of GLaDOS*
Here come the test results. You are a horrible person. That's what it says, a horrible person. We were not even testing for that.
All of the ones that don't say "Blu-ray" on them can go away.
ReplyDeleteBittersweet Special...
ReplyDelete... ... ...
I'm just gonna go cry. Again.
@Anonymous Why can't we have both? The more options, the merrier.
ReplyDeletethe third one is pretty good
ReplyDeleteWow, these are EXCEPTIONALLY well-made.
ReplyDeleteAll my bits for the brony edition
ReplyDeleteI like #8 the most.
ReplyDeletebut regardless, I would happily buy any of these.
thou I agree with early comments with an actual looking like number 7.
- WILD PAGE BREAK HAS APPEARED! -
ReplyDelete[ -Panic- ]
[ Derp ]
[ Throw Ponyball ]
[ Throw a Party ]
So much awsome amongst these. I wish Hasbro would put up a competition for the fandbase to design and vote on what their DVD/BluRay covers should be.
ReplyDeleteWow, these are incredible!
ReplyDeleteI will take ANYTHING( as long as its BLU-RAY+ ALL EPISODES IN ONE SET)
ReplyDeleteSo many DVDs. So few Blu-Rays.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell.
I think 10 should act as a case for small dvd cases that use 16...that would be amazing. I hope hasbro is looking at this comment =D

ALL OF MY WANT
I too like #7, and I think it very well could end up as the cover we see, or something close to it.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I LOVE #6, because I do collect Criterion Collection stuff, and it would be SO-AWE-SOME if the title pickers of that series brokered a deal with Hasbro/TheHub to include it in their lineup. A couple of minor errors on it (520 minutes, not 320; spine # is not based off of release year, but order of selection by Criterion people), but other than that, its SPECTACULAR. I would DEFINITELY buy that one as well, possibly more than a regular-release boxset.
Whomever did 7 could probably find a job in the design industry rather easily, it's ridiculously professional.
ReplyDeleteThe Brony edition made me laugh; we can only hope, I guess.
I really liked 17 for some reason, not sure why. I think having the case resemble the book of legends would be oddly apropos.
I love how on 15, everypony is freaking out, while spike is just WTFing.
ReplyDeleteI'm obliged to agree that the DVD box looking like the Book of Legends would be the coolest dude.
...Is that what it's called? The Book of Legends? Oh well. Y'all know what I'm on about.
http://www.swtor.com/guilds/142122/friendship-magic
ReplyDeleteI keep throwing money at the screen but nothing is happening.
ReplyDeleteI like 1, 5, 7-9, 11-13, the disk and interior art of 16, and 18.
ReplyDeleteI like 7 the best, but most are incredible.
ReplyDeleteI'll just be taking the "brony", "DJ P0n3", and "Return of Trixie" editions. Thank you, I'll send the money order soon.
ReplyDeleteif they made number 9 I would be able to die happy
ReplyDeleteToo many awesome selections! Honestly, you'd have to nitpick to find fault with just about any of them.
ReplyDelete#7 is an almost perfect example of what we'll see in an actual release, but...
#10 is what I'd prefer sitting in my collection. Hopefully we'll get a limited edition packaging aimed at bronies, maybe with extras like commentaries, behind the scenes footage, interviews, production art and other goodies the younger audience might not care about.
Throw in a blind bag style Trixie figure OH GOD MAH MONEY JUST TAKE ALL OF IT
Pardon my designer snobbery below, but I can't help it. ^^;
ReplyDelete7, 10, 11, 12, and 18 are the covers that make the most sense to me in terms of legibility, design, content and organization of information. There are of course a few issues on some of them like lacking information or content, and the spacing around and between the content.
7 is most well designed cover that matches almost perfectly with the rest of the my little pony franchise in terms of package design and presentation.
#10 is totally my favorite. I feel like that would draw peoples' eyes in the store; it's got a professional air about it that says "Not your typical little girls' show!" and people would say "THIS is My Little Pony?"
ReplyDeletealll very good...now ill get back to watching Devil May Cry...Danteshy edition
ReplyDeleteDAT SIMPLICITY TEXT on the spanhis one...
ReplyDelete...At least we can be grateful that #9 went with Bittersweet Edition instead of Cupcakes Edition?
ReplyDelete#15. Wait let me get my house deed, my dog, my college plan and all of my money heck I'd even give my parent's house deed with it.
ReplyDelete7 does indeed best fit with the package design for all the other Pony products however I think I like 10 the best
ReplyDeletealthough for 10 I question if one can have a UPC code at an angle like that
I want to love that Criterion cover, but their covers tend to be more "artsy".
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely get the DJ P0N-3 Edition!
ReplyDeleteI want #18 in full print resolution. If Hasbro doesn't come through with the series on DVD and Blu-Ray I WILL be burning my own.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteAsk a real home video distributor.
#10 seems the best to me. :)
ReplyDeleteNUMBER SIX.
ReplyDeleteCRITERION NEEDS TO DO THIS RIGHT CELESTIA DAMN NOW.
Okay, I'm looking at these with the eyes of someone who has a degree in 'Digital Media design'I have to admit that out of all of these #7 would get the nod. not because of it's 'pink till you puke' color scheme, but simple because on all 'sides' (front, back, spine) it's the most frakking legible!
ReplyDelete>90% of your audience
ReplyDeleteYeeeeah, let's just stick with an even 50%. That's a nice, mostly realistic number.
Wow!! Alot of these are really good and professional looking.
ReplyDeleteTrying to resist clopping to that Clopterion...excuse me, CRITERION Collection cover. I have a crippling addiction to Criterion films, and NO ONE would do the series any better than Criterion. (sigh) It makes me sad to think it won't happen...but alas, I can still dream...
ReplyDeleteOh, and props for making it BLU-RAY. I mean, these are awesome covers all around, but in real life, if it ain't on blu, I ain't interested. Ideally, there should be both options though.
God damnit, #9!!!!
ReplyDelete..... *sniff*
Looks awesome! Great job everypony!
ReplyDelete17 and 18 are epic. too bad that kind of packaging will never happen unless hasbro are really nice :(
ReplyDeletei wonder if they're getting the hint yet...
ReplyDeleteI like them all, but number 10 particularly caught my attention. Those eyes. "You will buy this DVD." The cover seems like it's referencing something retro too, and I'm a sucker for that.
ReplyDelete#8 will never happen :'(
@private-enemy
ReplyDeleteShout! Factory, more or less the Criterion of cult TV, is likely to do the series, though I don't think Hasbro Studios would want to give them the whole package of shows.
10 and 18 are my faves
ReplyDeleteWow you guys should send those to HASBRO and see if they use them ahaha They are superb!! I loved them all. But if I had to choose i'd go with #18 =D
ReplyDelete10, 15 and 18 OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH
ReplyDeleteWow. PonyRock went all out. I'm totally going to make this...
ReplyDeleteUntil they release a licensed DVD, of course.
SHUT UP AND GIMMIES RAINBOWS IN MY HAWSE!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewoha those are pretty awesome gj
ReplyDeleteDanny Ingram's Facebook:
ReplyDeleteThis is so amazing! http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/08/dvd-cover-compilation-post.html
Aww yeah.
I'm number 16! ohmigoshohmigoshohmigoshohmigoshohmigoshohmigoshohmigoshohmigoshohmigosh...
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone who enjoyed my designs, if you have anypony you want on them, I'd be happy to make one!
Daniel Ingram posted this on his Facebook!
ReplyDeleteWow, four different people used the group vector I made. That's funny to have contributed to almost 1/4 of the entries.
ReplyDeleteGonna use ALL my ink to print the labels of my in-process DVDs.
ReplyDeleteCriterion Collection.
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing.
Loving #10, and #18 would be perfect with a few adjustments for aesthetic reasons.
ReplyDeleteNot to be a negative trixie, but a few people should take more care in choice of font and visually-pleasing placement + coordination. Love most of the designs, though.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI'm also not sure if Shout! would want Family Game Night and Taylor Swift: Journey to Fearless. Lionsgate seems to be a big fan of this stuff.
Any cover that includes Spike = WIN, in my opinion.
ReplyDelete#9 - Oh no no no no.....
ReplyDeleteSo much good shops and editions :3
ReplyDeleteinb4 Hasbro goes for the as-pink-as-possible design-
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick a most likely prediction, I'd have to say 7. The Sing-Alongs really help that feeling of authenticity.
ReplyDeleteNUMBER 17 GETS ALL MY MUNNEES!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyone else notice that some characters on the insides of the cases in number 17 look an awful lot like the fairy text the Artemis Fowl book series?
ReplyDeleteAnyone else read those?
