ReplyDeleteShipping is from Relationship. Started back in the old days when X-Files was all everyone talked about. It was used on the over nine billion X-Files fanfic that involved random characters hooking up for the most absurd reasons. Thankfully X-Files died, but the term remains.
Saucy goes back to the 1930's to 1950's, nice way of saying sexy. I rather like it myself and had been saying it for years. But, then again, I say "kinky" in place of "cool" a lot around my friends and family for no apparent reason so I am by default weird.
Oh for fuck's sake. Most of us are adults, or close to it. That means the fandom isn't going to stay in the G-rated zone.

And no - we are not trying to deflower the show, as you've suggested, and I don't see how that metaphor works at all. The situation you've mentioned refers directly to a desire to witness the corruption of innocence due to societal restraints. People want to see, and interact with the taboo. However, choosing to move towards a more adult slant in fanworks does not mean we want to see Rainbow Dash screw Fluttershy on screen. Most of us like that the actual show is fairly innocent, with hinted at themes that only an older audience will pick up on (Pinkie Pie's spiked punch comment, for example.)
But when we write fanfics and draw art, we do it from the perspective of an adult. Most of the stuff on this site does stay below the clop line, and I must admit that my own tastes stay within that range for the most part. You can't expect people that have twice as many years under their belt as the target audience to always write fics about ponies having tea. Sometimes those ponies have guns.
I will chalk it up to difference of opinion though. Love and tolerance, fellow brony. You like your Applejack G-rated, I like mine up to R. We still appreciate the same character, just in different ways. :3
