This just proves that Matt Smith SHOULD provide the voice for Dr. Hooves in an upcoming MLP:FiM episode. Other cartoons like Phineas and Ferb get celebrity voices, why shouldn't our pony show, eh? Dr. Whooves could be Ponyville's resident mad scientist, or hell, even a DOCTOR or something. It could rock!!!
@Swweet Actually, this is still technically new. Why? Because the animation has been improved! If you remember, in the old one, around #2 and #3, the animation framerate drops considerably and it doesn't really look like he's talking. It seems that whoever made the original decided to finish up the unpolished section!
Actually, someone else coloured and in-betweened the rest of the animation! I don't know if it's one of the original animator's friends or not; she didn't say, but I would imagine it would help to have the original and to not just be working from a YouTube video.
Animation almost always equals collaboration, anyway. No wonder so many cartoons drive the damn "teamwork" message into kid's heads...
For those of you who who have never seen Doctor Who, here is the original scene:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsGzSz0KyNI
Up until around 0:42, and then the character watching the recording fast forwards the recording to the 1:20 mark in the show.
However the video in the link shows a "behind the scenes" of the whole recording in which the actor, David Tennant, started saying a bunch more silly random stuff since it wasn't actually going to be heard and fast forwarded through in the show.
One of my favorite things to come out of this fandom just got better. David Tennant's face just translates to a pony's so well it is kind of scary. If the Pony Polka could get Weird Al considered for a guest spot, This should get David Tennant.
I'm going to wind up soon but not before I make a few strange noises with my mouth which will go somewhere along the lines of bingle bongle dingle dangle, yikkity doo, yikkity da, ping pong lippi tappi too ta.
I love Doctor Who, and it's probably the only other series I've fangasmed over before discovering MLP, so you would think the mere idea of the Doctor Whooves "character" would send me into a embarrassing convulsions of giggling delight until I lose all bladder control, but I personally can't stand the concept and cannot fathom why so many love it.
Now, I'm typically not a neighsayer, but it seems completely pointless to have a ponified version of another series character portrayed as a straight up, in-universe background character.
I understand parodies, amalgams and guest shots, tributes and fanart, OC ponies and all that, but why make what is essentially just a Doctor clone, especially when the proper Doctor could within reason use the Tardis to visit Equestia himself?
I'm just going to pretend that a failed Cyberman experiment into inter dimensional travel resulted in a damaged infostamp being deposited into the world of Equestria, to be found and imprinted onto a young colt who moments after not only got his cutie mark, but a whole new self. His 'Tardis' works through a combination of retained Cyberman technical knowledge and Equestrian magic.
At least that's my fanon theory, and I'm sticking too it!
Fine. Make it a fanfic. Have the Doctor "vworp" himself to Equestria and work with the imprinted pony like in that one special or something. I actually wouldn't mind reading that version.
Well there are multiple universes, and then there are multiple universes.
I like to think of trays of layered cakes and desserts, in racks, tacked on top of each other, standing in rows on one floor of a tall warehouse, surrounded by other warehouses on a city block, adjacent to other blocks in a wide geographical area, etc., etc.
The Doctor's universe is a layer of cake. Sometimes he can travel to other layers, say one where something in history changed and the outcome was chocolate. But it would be with some difficulty for him to jump to another cake altogether, where maybe reality was different (Gallifreyans saw the end of the universe, fled to the only place they knew would be safe -it's beginning, and evolved into humans, who eventually evolved into Gallifreyans, who eventually...), or whole other tray where he may encounter pies, or strudel, or even cupcakes (different physics, different cosmic alignment of order & chaos, or something that could break ones sanity like a disregard for what we know of causality).
so go ahead and kill me if i sound like a noob, but was the audio from an actual Dr. Who episode? or was it just someone acting out lines that they wrote themselves? Also, was he giving instructions for while he's still in colt form? or for After he turns Back into a human? not really gettn it here.. and i dont watch Dr. Who so.. Still an awesome clip though! ^^
It's from an actual episode. In the show he turns himself human for a while (he's actually an alien that happens to look like a human). And while he's human he has no memories of who he really is, which is why he's leaving instructions before he changes.

ReplyDeletevery funny how I was just rewatching the previous one. I go to eqd and BOOM. Remake!
ReplyDeleteThe person did a really nice job at animating this. It must of tooken so much hours. Trust me, ive used flash.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYou uh...you do know that this is a scene excerpt from David Tennent right? So if anything we should get him to do a guest spot.
Seth, we love you, no matter your screw ups. xD
ReplyDeleteDa magikz!
ReplyDeleteHaters gonna hate pears.

ReplyDelete@Fengor: There are several instances where guest spots would be perfect. I'm thinking Ellen DeGeneres as Lyra, for example.
ReplyDeleteAnd Forest Whitaker as Derpy!!!

Oh man, this is amazing. If they actually ponified an entire episode of Doctor Who, I would seriously pay good money to see it.
ReplyDeleteYAY FANIMATION
ReplyDeleteAnd here I thought she said she wasn't gonna finish it! -:D
ReplyDeleteThe animators need serious kudos for this. Its amazing. MY INTERNETS YOU HAS IT!

ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, I'd say it takes the amount of time since the last one was released. :V
ReplyDeleteI liked that one more, but damn are these awesome and I hope there's more!
I didn't realise how effective the 'turning human' lines would be now that he's a pony! Good job who ever made this!
ReplyDeletePEARS MOTHERFUCKER! DO YOU SPEAK IT?
ReplyDeleteI cant stop smiling... :D
ReplyDeleteI might read a doctor hooves fanfiction because of this... that was awesome!

It's stuff like this that reassures me that when this show, if it ever does, ends it's run. The fandom'll be able to continue it
