That was phenomenal, Exploding Guy is truly a skillful artist. The coloring during the Rainbolt was exceptionally well done, and the entire thing got my heart racing.
beautiful. I don't know if I'm missing any before or after but the one I saw when I clicked on the pic was very wonderful art and reminded me of the type of pacing and set up many professional comics use. I loved it. Want more.
That was awesome, if a bit confusing at first (Thanks Alexstrazsa). I enjoyed it even without understanding everything. If this is going to be a series, I eagerly await the next four (or more?) parts.
Damn that was cool, I kind of wonder what that should be called. A sonic rainboom inside a storm cloud... electonic rainboom? I know that's not a great name but *shrugs*
Time Off Part 1 is one of my favorite FiM comics ever. That there is a part two just made my night =D
I liked the visuals, of course. What really makes me like it, though, is the idea that RD is probably *happier* having a goal to keep working toward than she would have been had she pulled the move on her first try =D
Is this the aftermath from the Sonic Rainboom episode and is Rainbow Dash trying to create a rainbow lightning but failed and tries again and again and again...
This comic was brilliant. Felt a bit bad for Dash , she seems so sad at the start. I Liked the lightning rainboom thing and the ending when she looks happy again.
Personally I think Dash would probably invent some more insane tricks like that over time.
Since part one was linked and was Rarity I wonder if we'll get one for each of the characters? (Rarity looks so happy in the last few panels)
@NinesTempest Imo, it's a series, capitalizing on each of the mane six, when they have "time off" from whatever they do. Well, that's what I think it is.
"Rainbow Dash, as bold and brash as they come. A lot less sympathetic than her fellow Pegasus Fluttershy, but what she lacks in empathy and tender loving care she certainly makes up for in her loyalty and dedication. Perhaps the greatest fear some professionals face is the fear of reaching their peak too soon in their career, to inevitably toil in a downward fall for the rest of their lives. For Rainbow Dash, this had never been more than a niggling feeling in the back of her head. Not since the Best Young Flyers Competition however, after having fulfilled her lifelong desire to recreate the Sonic Rainboom from her childhood, after heroically saving both her best friend and her heroes, and spending a whole day with said heroes, did the very real and very daunting question question begin to creep in: "what now?" Most would be content with this triumphant moment, but for Rainbow Dash there was no down in her life. The fear of falling from the top is too great and even keeps her up at nights, ignoring nap time in favor of thinking up new moves, anything to keep from falling..." -Exploding_Guy
I hate things like these where the monologue is all choppy and leaves out certain information. I mean, apparently I'm supposed to be able to infer the meaning and all, but I'm pretty sure I'm just not bright enough to read or something, because it always goes over my head.
Oh oh oh!! It all makes sense. This is the Buccaneer Blaze, the one that she stated in episode 3, but we have never seen. Until now!!! She only perfected it in her fantasy. Never actually tried it. But after she did it, the Wonderbolts Jaws looked exactly like mine.
Rainbow Dash did a Sonic Rainboom, but she feels that she's hit her peak. The limit to her greatness, and from there she can only go downhill; however, the storm inspires her to try just once more for something awesome. She does all kinds of badass rainbow lightningbolt stuff and fails, but in that she finds something new to strive for.
i think it should be called a "hyper rainbow storm" or if someone can make it shorter that would rock. also @taiyou you beat me to it and i deleted my old comment but thank you for clarifying for others.
I'm a little surprised at how many don't understand this one. Everypony needs something to live for, to strive for. Rainbow Dash is comforted in failure because it means there are still challenges left to face and overcome.
Art is BRILLIANT, but I'm just having a sliiiiiight problem. Was Dash sleeping or no....? And this STILL didn't make much sense after part one, either. Brilliant art though. Clap. Clap I say!!!
Wow, considering I'm rewatching Gurren Lagann now and have seen some crosover art I can surely say that Rainbow Dash can be considered the Kamina of this show, esp. with these lyrics in your head:
"Do the impossible, see the invisible, row, row, fight the power! Touch the untouchable, break the ubreakable, row, row, fight the power!"
I just happen to listen to Flogging Molly-The Lightning Storm. Not the best suited song for this comic, But it works. I think Man With No Country fits her better.
HOLY SWEET APPLE BISCUITS! That was AWESOME! See this is why she is cast as THOR this pegasus pony is fierce like lightning, powerful like thunder, and she does not shy away from danger! *Cough* Pardon my enthusiasm but that was a most worthy comic.
What I enjoyed mostly about this comic is that it wasn't straight forward. A message had to be understood first in order to be mostly appreciated, but once you do, it's simply... simply... There's not a word in dictionary that would come close to describing the greatness of this artwork.
At first I didn't quite understand it, I was so taken back by the artwork that I couldn't really focus on what the comic was trying to get across. After reading it again though I understood it.
Even Rainbow Dash has doubts about herself from time to time, and sometimes the only way to overcome that is to push yourself to do even better and try something completely new and sometimes even dangerous. Dash was unwilling to let the Rainboom be the peak of her skills, and she had to prove to herself that she could go further and do better than the Rainboom.
And she did that, she proved to herself and to Fluttershy that her potential is limitless...and so freakin awesome it made my jaw hit the floor.
I think this is my favorite comic to come out of this fandom thus far. Perfectly captures the need for something to struggle for that someone like Dash needs.
Haha. Some say that she tries to "reach higher", and despite failing she's fine with it, while others think that she feels she might not be able to reach any higher and become even better but also realises that she has time and failing is not the end of the world.
@Canvas Wolf Doll The first part is about rarity practicing archery so with this i conclude that every part is going to be about a different member of the mane six. You can find the Rarity one in e621.net searching Rarity or in one of the links in this comment section.
Part two was awesome, tho a bit confusing. I had to look it over three times before I realized fully what was happening.
Part one, sorry to say it Dashiefans out there, but it was 20% cooler. I could totally see Rarity having archery as her hobby, specially like this! Also not having seen Rarity quite as beautiful as in that comic. I was a Rarity fan before, but this has only made it worse.

ReplyDeleteThat was phenomenal, Exploding Guy is truly a skillful artist. The coloring during the Rainbolt was exceptionally well done, and the entire thing got my heart racing.
ReplyDeleteWell done, you have blown me away yet again EG.
does anyone know if the artist at least has deviantart?
ReplyDeletebeautiful. I don't know if I'm missing any before or after but the one I saw when I clicked on the pic was very wonderful art and reminded me of the type of pacing and set up many professional comics use. I loved it. Want more.
ReplyDelete@Kein
ReplyDeleteWe tried that, and that's when all the complaints about not-loading comics happened. Not sure that server can handle the strain.
Also, you people not getting the story need to rewatch Sonic Rainboom and think a little bit.
finally saw it....
ReplyDeletecan't talk lost my jaw on the floor
Very pretty but the words took away from the art
ReplyDeleteWell now that i see part 1 has little to do with this part2(for now at least) i am gonna go back to drooling over Rainbow Dash looking awesome.
ReplyDeleteSo awesome~!
ReplyDeleteWow it's awesome o.o
ReplyDeleteMy jaw is now broken. Stupid tile flooring.
ReplyDeleteThe art is really amazing, like almost to awesome for my eyes to comprehend. Although I didn't fully understand the story.

ReplyDeleteThis guy's art is spectacular. Loved the comic!
ReplyDelete@Eric
ReplyDeleteI thought the title sounded familiar.
That was awesome, if a bit confusing at first (Thanks Alexstrazsa). I enjoyed it even without understanding everything. If this is going to be a series, I eagerly await the next four (or more?) parts.
ReplyDeleteMUST HAVE PART 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete(with jaw still on floor)
Oh sweet! This is going to be a series about each of the mane cast? That's pretty neat.
ReplyDeleteDamn that was cool, I kind of wonder what that should be called. A sonic rainboom inside a storm cloud... electonic rainboom? I know that's not a great name but *shrugs*
ReplyDeleteWould have been better if it had Rainbow Dash in it other than this backwards cutie mark imposter.
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash achieved Godhood. Well, my life is complete.

ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash meets The Dark Knight Returns. Really excellent work here.
ReplyDelete"You ever soared past lightning? It's awesome!"
ReplyDeleteOh my GOSH
ReplyDeleteI think... we just got a look at a failed Buckenier Blaze. A sonic rainboom performed inside a bolt of lightning.
ReplyDeleteMind=Blown
Why do we fall, Dash? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading part one a while back, it was just as beautiful and thought provoking. I hope there will be more in this series.
ReplyDeleteTime Off Part 1 is one of my favorite FiM comics ever. That there is a part two just made my night =D
ReplyDeleteI liked the visuals, of course. What really makes me like it, though, is the idea that RD is probably *happier* having a goal to keep working toward than she would have been had she pulled the move on her first try =D
Some blogpony: please clarify that part one is totally unrelated to this part.
ReplyDelete@NinesTempest It isn't, but still awesome.

Is this the aftermath from the Sonic Rainboom episode and is Rainbow Dash trying to create a rainbow lightning but failed and tries again and again and again...
ReplyDeletemmm, can't wait to see part 3-6.
ReplyDeleteThis comic was brilliant. Felt a bit bad for Dash , she seems so sad at the start.
ReplyDeleteI Liked the lightning rainboom thing and the ending when she looks happy again.
Personally I think Dash would probably invent some more insane tricks like that over time.

@NinesTempest
ReplyDeleteImo, it's a series, capitalizing on each of the mane six, when they have "time off" from whatever they do. Well, that's what I think it is.
I have seen God,
ReplyDeleteand She is Rainbow Dash.
@ARTgames Maybe a "Static Rainboom," but some people have been calling it a "Somic Rainbolt." I think they're both cool.
ReplyDeleteGot it from the artist
ReplyDelete"Rainbow Dash, as bold and brash as they come. A lot less sympathetic than her fellow Pegasus Fluttershy, but what she lacks in empathy and tender loving care she certainly makes up for in her loyalty and dedication.

Excellent. Looking forward to more.
ReplyDeletespectacular comic...

ReplyDeleteI loved it. Both the amazing artwork and the deeper look into rainbow dash and her psyche. It doesn't hurt that she's my favorite. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is why Dash is best pony
ReplyDeletesoawesome.gif
Anyone know how I can get in contact with this artist? I want to write a fic based on the first one of Rarity as an archer.
ReplyDeleteOh oh oh!! It all makes sense. This is the Buccaneer Blaze, the one that she stated in episode 3, but we have never seen. Until now!!! She only perfected it in her fantasy. Never actually tried it. But after she did it, the Wonderbolts Jaws looked exactly like mine.
ReplyDeleteThought the Rarity one was a lot better, and that's saying something considering that she's just about my least favorite of the mane six.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for AJ's comic though. :D
great art, but...I don't get it, feel like a dipshit
ReplyDeleteVery impressive. Not much more to say than that.
ReplyDeleteShe just pulled a "Rain Bolt". Badass.
ReplyDeleteTo the bronies who don't quite understand it.
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash did a Sonic Rainboom, but she feels that she's hit her peak. The limit to her greatness, and from there she can only go downhill; however, the storm inspires her to try just once more for something awesome. A peak not yet reached.
I knew I recognized this; just as good as the first!
ReplyDeleteIm assuming this follows up after the Sonic Rainboom episode any way this was awsome. it be more awsome with the sonic rainboom background music
ReplyDelete0.o

ReplyDeleteAll i can say is yay rainbow dash and thunder struck
ReplyDeleteI came
ReplyDelete... I came rainbows
ReplyDeletei think it should be called a "hyper rainbow storm" or if someone can make it shorter that would rock. also @taiyou you beat me to it and i deleted my old comment but thank you for clarifying for others.
ReplyDeleteI got lost at the end, did Fluttershy save her? Or just served as a witness?
ReplyDelete@Tsitra360
ReplyDeleteshe just witnessed it
"I'll call it... Rain, bolt, FLASH!"
ReplyDeletethat was so awesome!!
ReplyDeleteMy jaw won't come back up....what do?
ReplyDeleteMy jaw is gone. I can't find it. I am crying manly tears.
ReplyDeleteWell, she is not the first person to struggle with the fear of failure and she won't be the last; that being said, that. WAS. AWESOME!!
ReplyDelete"Break the sound barrier? Psh. I gotta go faster then that!"
ReplyDeleteBeautiful... comic frame structure n stuff too, was really nice.
ReplyDelete"part 2" ???
This was by far the best comic, pony or otherwise, that I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteanyone else somehow feel they can relate?
ReplyDeleteI'm a little surprised at how many don't understand this one. Everypony needs something to live for, to strive for. Rainbow Dash is comforted in failure because it means there are still challenges left to face and overcome.
ReplyDeleteImagine an architect with no more bridges to build, a pioneer with no more wilderness to explore, a teacher with no more children to teach.
ReplyDeletebreaking sound mastered time to take it to the next level...
ReplyDeleteOooh, very nicely done.
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Dash is such an awesome Pegasus. Great comic.

ReplyDelete@icekatze
ReplyDeleteI think the thing people are confused about is what she was trying to DO.
Sonic Rainbolt :v
ReplyDeleteWell, it did hit the floor alright.
ReplyDeleteBut that's because Dashie is the best pony <3
Uhm......
ReplyDeleteArt is BRILLIANT, but I'm just having a sliiiiiight problem. Was Dash sleeping or no....? And this STILL didn't make much sense after part one, either.
Brilliant art though. Clap. Clap I say!!!
Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI get it. Jaw hit the floor and everything. Great comic, brony.
ReplyDeleteDash is awesome, but Twilight Sparkle will always be Best Pony.
I didn't get what this was all about?
ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash is now best pony.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I prefer the first one...but this is still awesome.
ReplyDeletePlease tell me that their's a part 3 in the works, this comic is AWESOME!
ReplyDelete...Wow. Although with part one missing, I feel a little left out of the story. But no matter, the art is AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteWow, considering I'm rewatching Gurren Lagann now and have seen some crosover art I can surely say that Rainbow Dash can be considered the Kamina of this show, esp. with these lyrics in your head:
ReplyDelete"Do the impossible, see the invisible,
row, row, fight the power!
Touch the untouchable, break the ubreakable,
row, row, fight the power!"
One word.
ReplyDeleteEpic.
For those who don't get the story, 2 hints:
ReplyDelete- don't let "Part 2 confuse you". there's no part 1 for Rainbow Dash, it's just part 2 of the "Time Off" comics. First is about Rarity.
- It's happening after the episode 'Sonic Rainboom'.
I just happen to listen to Flogging Molly-The Lightning Storm. Not the best suited song for this comic, But it works. I think Man With No Country fits her better.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty deep- I love stories like this that work perfectly on what has already happened. Poor dashie having a midlife crisis ;_;
ReplyDeleteHOLY SWEET APPLE BISCUITS! That was AWESOME! See this is why she is cast as THOR this pegasus pony is fierce like lightning, powerful like thunder, and she does not shy away from danger! *Cough* Pardon my enthusiasm but that was a most worthy comic.
ReplyDeleteWhat I enjoyed mostly about this comic is that it wasn't straight forward. A message had to be understood first in order to be mostly appreciated, but once you do, it's simply... simply... There's not a word in dictionary that would come close to describing the greatness of this artwork.
ReplyDeleteFirst Rainbow Dash conquered the sound barrier and now she seeks to ride the lightning. Epic beyond discription.
ReplyDeleteAt first I didn't quite understand it, I was so taken back by the artwork that I couldn't really focus on what the comic was trying to get across. After reading it again though I understood it.
ReplyDeleteEven Rainbow Dash has doubts about herself from time to time, and sometimes the only way to overcome that is to push yourself to do even better and try something completely new and sometimes even dangerous. I think this is my favorite comic to come out of this fandom thus far. Perfectly captures the need for something to struggle for that someone like Dash needs.
ReplyDeleteDon't get complacent, friends.
Wait wait wait... So let me get this straight. I understand this comic as Rainbow Dash is trying a new trick. Am i right?
ReplyDeleteTechnically, she still might want to join the Wonderbolts - I guess that's not the achievement she truly wants, since it's not real improvement.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Some say that she tries to "reach higher", and despite failing she's fine with it, while others think that she feels she might not be able to reach any higher and become even better but also realises that she has time and failing is not the end of the world.
ReplyDeleteMind = Exploded
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for this to be a scene from Fell into the Right Hooves, and it almost was.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Part one is pretty epic too! POST ALL OF THEM! THE NEXT THAT COMES OUT, POST IT!
ReplyDeleteI want more of these!!!!!
ReplyDeletecool!!
ReplyDelete@Canvas Wolf Doll The first part is about rarity practicing archery so with this i conclude that every part is going to be about a different member of the mane six. You can find the Rarity one in e621.net searching Rarity or in one of the links in this comment section.
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHIT!
ReplyDeleteThis would actually make a great episode!
Part two was awesome, tho a bit confusing. I had to look it over three times before I realized fully what was happening.

@Stormcloud
ReplyDeleteMh, yes indeed...
The Buccaneer blaze!
ReplyDeleteGreat art but I didn't understand the story
ReplyDeleteThis is amazingly good work.
ReplyDeleteWow... The Wonder-Rainbolt...
ReplyDeleteHas anypony seen my jaw...no?
ReplyDelete@Eric
ReplyDeleteI don't get part 1.
Bravo!
ReplyDeleteRainbow dash is like me in this :D just take the damn thing to bits!!
ReplyDeleteWow. Just.... wow.
ReplyDeleteIf you'll excuse me, I have to arrange a Fenix capsule to rescue my jaw from the hole it put in the floor.
