I have to admit... I didn't really understand the potato thing much at first. Why does the demigod of ponydom roll with a golden russet avatar?
After a bit of research, I found out just how noble potatoes actually are. Have some interesting potato facts:
- The average American eats 126 pounds of potatoes a year. I'm pretty sure I double that though with how many ridiculously delicious french fries I consume.
- New York consumes more potatoes than any other state.
- In 1802, Thomas Jefferson was the first person to serve French Fries in the United States
- All 50 states grow potatoes
- The largest potato ever grown was a whopping 7 pounds
- Potatoes are in fact vegetables

126 lbs per year? I don't believe it!
VastaKustutaSecond
VastaKustutaPotatoes, Seth. Not potato's.
VastaKustuta>Potatoes are in fact vegetables
VastaKustutaThe life will never be the same.
Read his Twitter, Seth :P
VastaKustutaLook down, back up - you are now reading that list in the Fact Core's voice.
VastaKustutaWhat the? I don't eat that many potatoes and I'm Irish-American, and I had potatoes for dinner.
VastaKustutaPotatoes are also commonly mistaken for ground squirrels.
VastaKustutaPotatoesssssssssssssssssssss
VastaKustutaBoil 'em, Mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew!
VastaKustuta>I'm surprised it took this long to ponify Jayson
VastaKustutaI'm sure there is somepony out there who would disagree
http://ponibooru.413chan.net/post/view/38337
Erm, Seth, the person who did the Daniel Ingram picture did a Jayson Theissen one shortly after, and I'm pretty sure you POSTED it. Granted, there hasn't been a Golden Russet pony yet as far as I know, but still.
VastaKustutaYay, random potato facts. Because knowledge is power. And yada yada GI JOE! :)
VastaKustutaI love the comic, especially Trixie in the last panel. lol Very cool someone made a ponified Jayson. His little cutie mark there too. :>
@Anonymous
VastaKustutaJalapeños and peppers are fruits. Life is much worse now.
I'm actually eating chips as I read this. Coincidence?
VastaKustutaI love Trixie's expression in the last panel. She got served and she knows it.
VastaKustutaI like potatoes
VastaKustutaPotatoes...man, how many nights have I fried these up with whatever other vegetables I had in the fridge during my first year off campus?
VastaKustutaAnyway, this comic was awesome. Though, I fear for Golden Russet...Trixie does NOT look amused, and that never results in good things for ponies who've upset her.
How are you holding up? Because I'm a potato.
VastaKustutaClicked picture to view comic. <.<
VastaKustutaIt's too early for me to be on here.
Ah Portal 2.
VastaKustutaaren't there 52 US states?
VastaKustutaPotatoes translate literally as "earth apples" from many European languages.
VastaKustutaAnd now I have a sudden crave for potatoes...
VastaKustutaHuh, that's strange...
@Anonymous
VastaKustutano, there are 50 states, then the district of columbia (washington DC is not in any state, nor it it a state itself) and then there are US territories that are not states and do not have the same rights and powers as states. (puerto rico, guam, US virgin islands, midway, and a lot of islands in the pacific.)
residents of US territories are allowed to freely travel anywhere in the US and it's territories, as they are considered US citizens. the only drawback is they do not hold a seat in legislature, and cannot elect congressmen or senators.
US territories may become a state if they reach a minimum population and ratify a state constitution. If I recall Puerto Rico has had the opportunity to become a state several times now.
Potatoes are actually none too good for horses. Not sure if that includes ponies, but I'm guessing it does.
VastaKustutaJust read the blog post in the Fact Sphere voice. Unintentionally.
VastaKustuta...how?
@Necromanteion
VastaKustutaHabeeb it!
Fantastic. Potatoes... so many potato references coming to mind.
VastaKustutaThomas Jefferson is now my hero.
VastaKustutaI can count to potato
VastaKustutaAlso: The best french fries are from Burger King. No contest.
VastaKustutaTrixie in the last panel.
VastaKustutaSo. Worth. Existing. To. See.
There should have been another panel with the potato on fire.
VastaKustuta@Anonymous He wasn't your hero already?
VastaKustutaThis is just another tick on Jefferson's record of being an awesome human being. Except for the slavery thing. That wasn't so great.
Was that comic originally in French? It would make more sense since the French name for potato, pomme de terre, means, more or less, apple of the ground, or, I guess, dirt apples. Otherwise, I'm just not getting why Trixie thinks it's an apple stand.
VastaKustutaAnd now, I am filled with an insatiable hunger for potatoes.
VastaKustutaWell done comic ^^
Golden Russets are actually a type of apple, not a type of potato. The skin on the fruit is rough like a potato's, which actually makes them incredibly resistant to worms and diseases. Underneath the skin, though, they're crisp and have great flavor.
VastaKustutaPotato's: Tastier than pine cones!
VastaKustutaWe will refund your potatoes!
VastaKustutaThat would sound tiny bit weird, wouldn't it?
As a few have stated before, European languages often use the literal 'earth apple', which makes this funnier and should be added to that potato fact list. ;3
VastaKustutaJayson Thiessen is the REAL god of MLP! I'm sure of it.
VastaKustuta@Anonymous
Thomas Jefferson stole everything from Nikola Tesla.
For everyone wondering, a golden russet is a type of apple, which would explain where Trixie's confusion came from.
VastaKustutaIt is also a type of potato, according to google.
I live in Ireland and we are pretty well known for loving potatoes. This comic kind of reminds of my uncle. He was once dating a Eastern European girl who complained that every Irish meal involved potatoes so he offered to make her dinner. The dinner was more or less every variation of potatoes you could think of: Roasted, mashed, boiled, baked, fried, chips, Potato soup, you name it he had it. I think they broke up soon after that.
VastaKustutaNot sure that Thomas Jefferson thing is accurate...
VastaKustutaTrixie's face in the last panel is hilarious!
VastaKustutaHe who controls the potato controls the world!
VastaKustutaSo you know, go buy some...
@bronydash
VastaKustutaI went to Monticello this past spring and they told us that too. He was also the first to introduce waffles and vanilla ice cream.
Look on the bright side, Trixie. Now you have more eyes looking on you than ever before.
VastaKustuta*poofs into a potato*
Was it something I said?
Hehe oh Poor GREAT AND POWERFULL TRIXIE. Man I love this show and how it inspires such creativity in its fans! Theirs no doubt I always watch it and read the fan comics for the Plot. :)
VastaKustuta@DeRockProject
VastaKustutaActually, Thomas EDISON stole everything from Nicola Tesla, Thomas JEFFERSON was about 50-75 years prior to that little toss up and was one of the primary writers of the US Declaration of Independence (as well as Congressman, President, philosopher, plantation owner and some other odds and ends).
Also, I'm eating a Red Delicious right now. Coincidence? Yes, actually, I always eat an apple for breakfast.
When life gives you potatoes, hope life will give you some cooking oil, a skillet, and a knife.
VastaKustutaBut then again I should be apalled that I even think that The Great and Powerful Trixie cooks her own meals. She must have a chef on hand to do that for her.
The GREAT and POWERFUL Trevor approves of this comic!
VastaKustutaPotatoes are also a member of the Solanaceae family, along with such others as Tobacco, Mandrake and Yellow Deadly Nightshade! Think about THAT next time your stuffing your face!
VastaKustutaTrixie is not amused.
VastaKustutaTrixie:At the end, is trying to contemplate why she went to the wrong stand.
VastaKustuta@ZMorris
VastaKustutaWendy's USED to have the best, before they buggered them up with their new 'natural cut fries with sea salt' which taste more like 'fries we picked up off the floor. last week.'
And since Seth seems to be averse to crediting or linking to the artist, here's a real link: http://rildraw.deviantart.com/#/d46son6
VastaKustutaTrixies disproval face, Ha.
VastaKustuta@Firleycat
VastaKustutaPlease tell me he did that so they'd break up. That'd be one of the best ways to give someone the hint I've ever heard.
la Pomme de terre!
VastaKustutaWe call 'em potatos.
VastaKustutaAnd Idaho grows the most.
VastaKustutaFuck yeah Idahoans.
~Scratch
om nom nom po-tay-toes! <3
VastaKustutaTrixie got trolled.
VastaKustutaAnd she knows it.
Priceless.
@Daniel the Brony (Una nobis custodit! Towards a darker future.)He was also the first to introduce waffles and vanilla ice cream.
VastaKustutaYes! And without waffles and vanilla ice cream we wouldn't have waffle cones!
yay!
Denser than a sack of potatoes, that gal....
VastaKustutapotatoes can keep an AI alive for a while
VastaKustuta@ToonNinja
VastaKustutaHe never said, but he did say that he met his wife a few months after that. If it wasn't the break up moment, it was certainly close to it. I like to think it was what caused the break up, It sounds so much better that way.
@Anonymous
VastaKustutaOOPS!!! XD Oh god, that was horrible. Hehehe ^^;
