I remember having Tonka trucks when I was little, toughest little buggers I had in my entire toy collection - just as well since I was a destructive kid who played with Action Man, die-cast metal toy cars and an arsenal of cap guns and dart guns.
Which begs the question: Did I grow out of manly toys enough to enjoy girly toys, or did I mature into one who enjoys almost all toys?
The second one, pure genious! However, gotta say I think Applejack is more of a Ford girl myself. I can see her driving a sweet old red F350 single cab with dully's and a 7.3L twin turbo diesel. She's a ford girl for sure!
AND TONKA TOUGH I loved playing with those as a kid, they would never break. Ever. Actually I threw one at the television once, and the t\Tonka truck didn't break. My TV did, and so did my parents when they found out. But the Tonka Truck never had a scratch...
I dont know if any one has suggested this yet, nd I mean tonka is a suitable enough truck for AJ but seriously she needs damn badass ford...king ranch mabey x) but instead it would be Sweet Apple Acres Edition! :D
I was so tempted to buy that darn truck today. I mean, yes it's ridiculous and makes no sense and is so very...pink. But it's also sort-of shaped like an apple! Applejack is all about apples so, there's that.
In the end I decided to boycott the thing until Hasbro makes a version that turns into an apple-harvesting robot or fires apple missiles or at least repaints it in a color-scheme that isn't going for "Super Disney Princess Applejack."
The second one got me, especially when the Peterbilt parked next to me pulled out with a tricked out dumptruck on the flatbed, both were painted up as Tonka.
AppleJack is a bit too bland and sometimes even annoying, due to she's what's left of Hasbro, hope she gets some personalities in season 2 which aren't stereotypical and she quits reminding us about morals and crap like that(aka the old generation)
Yeah, great! Let's trample over any and all femininity retained by this brand. Feminine = sucks!! Never mind if MLP was originally intended for little girls. I am male and I demand to be catered to, as always! It's not enough that the animation studios are sucking all our dicks - moar testosterone needed in the merchandising!!
@masem I'm thinking Twilight would probably drive a Tesla Roadster. I mean, it's an electric car (to fit her bookish qualities) and it's quite expensive (so it would be something that normally only the Princesses would have access to).
First comic was a bit funny, and quite a good art work.
Second comic was awesome if a bit sloppy on the artwork, but quite a hilarious "Take That" to the Applejack Toy Truck. Now THAT truck Applejack is driving is "Tonka Tough".
Really? Are you retarded? Just look at the crap that is being released as toys. They are ultra feminized, and kiddized versions of the show (and more often than not, pink). Someone making reference to the fact that the toys should be more in line with how the show itself is portrayed makes you mad? Nearly all of the toys out now are not worth buying, unless you are a hardcore fan and buy for the simple fact that it is pony merch.
If the toys matched the show, I can guarantee they would sell more stuff. How many little girls would turn a white celestia away because its not pink enough? Few if any. But I know a tens of thousands of bronies who would buy a white celestia in a second.
Femininity is awesome and underrated. Applejack really needs more "girl" moments I think, even Rainbow Dash has a few. But when the Apple family has work to do, that pathetic pink plastic pickup just won't cut it.
The truck was originally going to be a Ford until I decided on Tonka for the irony.
Love to hear the feedback from everyone, you guys are awesome.
I agree that Applejack needs more "girl" moments. But what I think she REALLY needs is a song. A genuine Country song, one that she can really belt out a la Patsy Cline or Loretta Lynn. "I was born an apple-farmer's daughter"...well, you get the idea.
I also agree about Applejack driving a Jeep. My family MAKES Jeeps, and they are awesome. I think a pink Jeep would suit her just fine. (What? I've always wanted a pink Jeep myself!)
The 'crap' being released as toys was never meant for adult male scrutiny. That is my point. Just because it is pink and girly does not make it bad, it just means it doesn't appeal to the average man, which according to most bronies is a crime. And in your last sentence, about how more bronies would buy Celestia if she weren't pink, just completely disregards the existence of a very young, female fanbase, who are probably too young to care about whether their toy is pink or white and will love it for what it is.
You just proved part of my point. If the young girls do not care one way or another, make celestia white, so you can cater to both worlds. Hasbro's marketing department still has their collective head in their ass at the moment.
And this is why we keep getting Pink Celestia toys. Hasbro never got any feedback from any of the other ponies about their toys so they just assumed that they were doing a good job and went ahead with it without consulting her. You have to be very clear with these people otherwise you will get nowhere with them.

yeah, that seems like a much better truck for AJ.
ReplyDeleteinb4 D'AWWWW
ReplyDeleteI lol'd at AJ's Tonka.
ReplyDeleteGG Applebloom.
ReplyDeleteAJ has a Tonka truck >u< I love it.
ReplyDeleteThat first comic was very sweet. I love it too, but for different reasons.
lol at both. The first one was drawn really well. Looked like it was straight from the show. :)
ReplyDeleteFirs- dammit
ReplyDeleteD'aww- DAMMIT
The first one was adorable. The second one was HILARIOUS!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because they don't need trucks for nothin'!
ReplyDeleteI healthily enjoyed both of those comics. I think I may have gained a few years on life with them infact!
ReplyDelete/me smokes bubble pipe
Lol I made it.
ReplyDeleteI love the first comic, simple and sweet and very well drawn.
I think maybe next time I will not use paint for drawing xD
First - D'awww, cute
ReplyDeleteSecond - ROFL, I could see AJ doing that XD And a way more fitting vehicle :P
Haha, nice. Tonka trucks would appeal to AJ, I think.
ReplyDeleteYay~
ReplyDeleteI am still ticked off at the AJ truck. It looks like..I dunno Celestia barfed rainbows on it?
I loved to first one Appledurpyshy?
LOVED the second one. Its pretty awesome for being made in paint.
Tonka TOUGH!

@Magpie I'm pretty sure there's only ONE pony in Equestria who can literally puke rainbows... and it's DEFINITELY not Celestia...
ReplyDeleteThe first one was simple and cute, loved it ^^

LOL I loved them both.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess my cutie mark ain't applebuckin'.
AND TONKA TOUGH

AJ would totally drive a lifted Jeep, either that or a big lifted pickup. I like the jeep idea better though.
ReplyDeleteMan, I miss when Tonka trucks were made of metal.
ReplyDeleteHasbro would probably sell moar things if they didn't try to shit pink and hearts all the damn time for their girl toys.
ReplyDelete2nd comic wins an internet.
ReplyDeleteTest post:
ReplyDelete:eeyup:
The D'aaaw factor for number #1 is just over..... no not that lame ass internet joke... its just over 99.9999R%
ReplyDeleteSecond comic is rofl
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one that sees the first one as incredibly suggestive? Hehehe
ReplyDeleteLove both of them.
ReplyDeleteThe first one's cute as heck! #2 reflects my feelings on most MLP merch.
ReplyDeleteI dont know if any one has suggested this yet, nd I mean tonka is a suitable enough truck for AJ but seriously she needs damn badass ford...king ranch mabey x) but instead it would be Sweet Apple Acres Edition! :D
ReplyDeleteI went from dawww to XD in 2.5 seconds!
ReplyDelete1. haa...child labor
ReplyDelete2. i now want Applejack to have a redneck truck in s2
I was so tempted to buy that darn truck today. I mean, yes it's ridiculous and makes no sense and is so very...pink. But it's also sort-of shaped like an apple! Applejack is all about apples so, there's that.

Oh! And lovely comics, both! Well done, indeed!
ReplyDeleteSorry, that truck just completely sidetracks my rage!
The first one was cute, the second was hilarious, both were equally awesome.
ReplyDeleteFord Trucks.....Built Pony Tough!
ReplyDeleteFord girl all the way, with a sticker in the back window "Save a horse, ride a cowgirl"
Great, and now I can't get out of my head of IDing what the other mane five would drive (outside of what Hasbro thinks they would be ...)
ReplyDeleteTwi: Toyota Prius
RBD: Camero
Rarity: Mercedez Benz
Fluttershy: SmartCar
Pinkie: Winnebago
The first comic is cute. :3 Yayy~
ReplyDeleteI got a good laugh out of the second comic. That's just about how I felt about Applejack's toy truck as well.
The second one got me, especially when the Peterbilt parked next to me pulled out with a tricked out dumptruck on the flatbed, both were painted up as Tonka.
ReplyDelete@Physicallypossible , Watch Dodge put that out.
AppleJack is a bit too bland and sometimes even annoying, due to she's what's left of Hasbro, hope she gets some personalities in season 2 which aren't stereotypical and she quits reminding us about morals and crap like that(aka the old generation)
ReplyDeleteNow the next trend: Ponies in cars
Ferrari = ???
Lamborghini = ???
First comic was adorable! :3
ReplyDeleteI found the second one hilariously (and deliciously) ironic.
Nice work, Applejack. Smash that crappy toy!
ReplyDelete@masem
It appears to be the outline of a... Winnebago. Pinkie Pie
Considering the maximum height for a "pony" is about four feet, ten inches I'd say Applebloom is pretty tall for a foal.
ReplyDeleteYeah, great! Let's trample over any and all femininity retained by this brand. Feminine = sucks!! Never mind if MLP was originally intended for little girls. #2: Finally! Thank you! Oh god thank you! Someone had to do this!
ReplyDeleteThere's your feedback Hasbro!
ReplyDeleteI loved BOTH those comics! The first was so cute and well-drawn. The second was so goldang funny! Win win!
ReplyDeleteThey should totally make a ponified Tonka truck.
ReplyDeleteMy Little Tonka:
Pony guzzles the gas.

ReplyDeleteI drive a jeep, and am an avid offroader, so I guess I'm biased. Pink jeep? Good god no. AJ is the least girly of the ponies (except Dash maybe).
ReplyDeletePinky pie on the other had, should most defiantly have a pink car. A pink VW microbus or maybe even a pink Cadillac
Heck, AJ's all just so good in 2nd comic. lol'ed hard.
ReplyDeleteyou know I had a tonka once, not one of those plastic ones they make now but the originally dump truk made of metal
ReplyDeleteAll we need now is for Pinkie Pie to crash a freight train into the Hasbro offices.
ReplyDeleteI will never understand the random curtsies of Applejack.
ReplyDeleteI hope that's an original steel Tonka, and not the plastic crap that's out on the toy aisles today.
ReplyDeleteAnd thus Apple Bloom devises the theory of gravity.
ReplyDeleteThus earning her a "Founding The Field of Physics" Cutie Mark
Applebloom's cutie mark would appear, showing one of newton's laws.
ReplyDelete@Greeniepie

Hasbro should've made AJ's truck a GMC Topkick, they even had the licensing for it from Transformers.
ReplyDeleteThere I go with my car related pointlessness again.
I did enjoy the comics, however.
I'm pretty sure I've seen other version of the first one. Seth better post it so we can get nice little mudfest.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 2:28AM

ReplyDeleteAJ: "Are y'all an Isaac Newton?"
ReplyDelete...
OhgodthatwashorribleI'msosorry.
Everypony knows Applejack drives the modified Toyota Hilux from the Top Gear Polar Special.
ReplyDeleteFuck you, Hasbro.
ReplyDeleteThat is all.
I must applaud the second comic, but as to the first... now I need a soundbite of Apple Bloom doing a Fluttershy Yay.
ReplyDeleteI love the second one. AJ would totally do that. :P
ReplyDelete@masem
ReplyDeleteWhat, no one with a Mustang? XD
@dmtactical
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think it should have been a Matchbox or a Korgi.
(Or a Studebaker).
Also, inb4 Rarity in a Mercedes-Benz or a Porsche.
@Anonymous 3:07 AM
ReplyDeleteOther version? I drew the first one, so i'm curious as to what you're talking about.
@masem

@Mr Nutt Or the other HiLux, from the Volcano special.
ReplyDeleteThe first one has a rule 34 version.
ReplyDeleteIf you think for a little bit it's actually pretty easy to figure out.
Sleep well, kids.
