I have to admit, the completely ridiculous Derpy is growing on me. I wonder what they will do with her now that she has her own specific animations in season two?
Also some Spike being ridiculous. I'm not sure how Rarity taking a shower is any different than Rarity walking around, business as usual, but cartoons aren't supposed to make sense are they?

ReplyDeleteYES! I win! Denied "first"-ers!
ReplyDeleteAnyway. That's just wrong.
third
ReplyDeleteLmao, great selection
ReplyDeleteHow does that camera?
ReplyDeleteHa ha! These are just plain ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteDammit! Derpy is NOT like that. I love the second one in its wrong-ness. The first one. . . not so much.
ReplyDelete#1: WATER PHYSICS. Also, Dinky abuse? I am sadface.
ReplyDelete#2: Oh, Spike, you little ol' repeat sexual offender!
These made me lol.
ReplyDeletehaha.
ReplyDelete#2 You look DELICIOUS!
#1 is funny but kind of sad. Derpy is best mom.
xDDD
ReplyDeleteCharacter abuse and....peversion.
ReplyDeleteI am dunno if I should laugh or not.
Looks like Sweetie Belle just earned her cutie mark in amateur voyeurism pr0n.
ReplyDelete1# He he he, oh Derpy, you so silly.
ReplyDelete2# Mmhmm...Why am I asking how much did Sweetie Belle charged for the photos?

ReplyDeleteI like the idea of competent and intelligent, but air-headed and somewhat clumsy Derpy Hooves. Who is possibly blind in one eye.
ReplyDeletePersonally, after witnessing the fallout and drama behind the FiM flash game with Yamino, Ponychan, and parts of the game's staff, I prefer to call her "Ditzy Doo" and assume she's normal, or even really smart, and just has an eye condition.
ReplyDeleteSeeing her constantly be silly or "derpy" has started making me uncomfortable, even if I didn't fully agree with Derpy and her general fandom persona being an ableist joke at one point. It's why I'm actually nervous about her appearing in the next season. Besides, "derp" is too much a 4chan meme, it doesn't fit with the naming scheme of the show.
1. Ironically, if the line was "Oh no not again" it somehow would have been a little funnier and less dark.
ReplyDeleteI support good-mother Derpy
2. Much Funnier, though that begs the question of what in-universe Pr0n would be to them, since clothing is optional and nudity is not taboo.
@HaysforPonies
ReplyDeleteI say no. No matter what the interpretation of Ditzy, she should never be so stupid that she brings harm to Dinky. And the less said about #2, the better.
Is it weird (or blasphemous) to think that Ditzy looks and acts a lot like Brittany from Glee?
ReplyDelete...first one is just too dark. It's not funny.
ReplyDeletesecond one is funny.
The Second comic reminds me of Ranma 1/2. At least I think there was a joke like that, It been a long time since I seen it.
ReplyDelete"Derpy is best mommy ever. She is the best at being a mommy and she's my mommy."
ReplyDeleteChild abuse and sexual perversion featured on EqD? Not cool Seth, not cool.
ReplyDelete#2: Wait...Does this mean Spike, in that little moment from "The Cutie Mark Crusaders..."
ReplyDeleteOh, ew.
The first one is dark? Have you people never heard the expression "Throwing the baby out with the bathwater?" That's basically all that comic is. It's quite funny and FAR from dark.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if dollar signs are the proper currency symbol for bits in FiM-verse
ReplyDeleteChild abuse? #1? Really people? 'Tis a joke on the commonly used phrase "Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater." I don't see where this "darkness" is coming from or why it is so prevalent. My first thought when I saw the comic was "haha, bad joke" not "ZOMG its portraying Derpy as a bad mom."
ReplyDelete@Fengor
ReplyDeleteAh, Fengor, you beat me to it. Thank you for having a sense of humor.
@Spikely Whiplash
ReplyDeleteFor that reason, I agree and dislike the first one.
Yes I've heard the expression before. Still don't care for it.
ReplyDeleteThen again, the Witch Hunter Crusaders comic didn't sit right with me either.
That first comic was slightly aww (poor Dinky), but funny. Dinky's face in the second panel is just too much. lol Also, they live in a giant muffin! I like to think of Derpy though as the obviously kinda ditzy, but still absolutely sweet and loving mom.
ReplyDeleteSecond comic... oi. Sweetie Belle knows how to make some extra spending bits. :P
There's something about Rarity doing aerobic workouts to keep in shape that just makes a ton of sense. I'm surprised we haven't seen it in the actual show.
ReplyDelete-Kayosiv
Why does Spike needs photos of Rarity with clothes on, when she normally walks around naked?
ReplyDeleteI love Spike's expression in the last panel!
ReplyDeleteIm still a fan of a random but still sain Derpy, where she isn't a over insane nut job over muffins.
ReplyDeleteand that 2ed comic was just too good. im not a huge fan of rarity, but when it involves spike i like it XD
Number one makes me sad, yes I am familiar with the expression, but bad mom derpy is not the best derpy.
ReplyDeleteNumber 2 I am ambivalent about, concept is silly enough, art quality just isn't there.
I like Derpy as best mom. :)
ReplyDelete@Fengor
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if someone was going to point that out, I wanted to, but you beat me to it. Oh well, that was the first thought that came to my mind for the first comic, the second made me O_____O!
I prefer (semi) coherent Derpy.
ReplyDeleteI say #1 is instant classic. It's not 'dark'. If it were dark they'd have been living on a cliff side or it would show her hours later shivering in the cold.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand even that last part might be a little funny if Derpy put the bucket to bed.
Aaaaaanyway... I'm kind of sick of everyone judging Derpy one way or the other. I like her serious and misunderstood. I like her as a good mommy. I like her as totally ridiculous. Derpy is just plain best pony no matter how you use her.
I think perhaps #2, for everyone not getting it, has less to do with clothing and more to do with a hot n' sweaty Rarity and a sopping wet Rarity. Both in poses you wouldn't see often.
Sweetie really seems like she'd have earned some sort of devious cutie mark for this one XD
I dunno. I don't see Rarity as doing any kind of workout at all.
ReplyDelete@ pmcollectorboy
ReplyDeleteTook the words right out of my mouth.
I prefer the shy, yet not abnormal Derpy. Occasionally her eye will shift due to stress, but it's mostly involuntary.
I got my cutie mark for amateur ponyratzzi photography.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what Spike wants with the pictures, nor do I care.
I'm going to the candy store and buying it!
I’ve always been partial to the “Forrest Gump” persona for Ditzy/Derpy, as exemplified in Egophiliac’s comic strip from Dinky’s point of view. There’s an innocent sweetness and earnestness to it I find appealing. And, heck, she even has the same kind of relationship with Dinky that Gump has with his son.
ReplyDeleteHow many bits could spike scrounge up to pay for those pictures?
ReplyDeleteThe second comic reminded me so much of Ranma 1/2.
ReplyDeleteSomething is just off with the first one. I think the art makes Derpy look maniacal, the "Not me too" line sort of trailing off is saddening, and it's all a little chilling when you think that sometimes new moms actually do murder their babies in casual, matter of fact ways due to postpartum depression, other mental illness or simple overwhelming desperation.
ReplyDeleteIf Dinky didn't look like a helpless baby, or it didn't seem she was being thrown from a very high place, maybe it wouldn't have been so weird.
@Solar Flair
ReplyDeleteI like Derpy as any of those that you mentioned - but I don't like her being portrayed as a bad mommy, even if it's not really dark.
@null
ReplyDeleteDoes it help if you imagine she ran right outside and scooped Dinky up into "I'm sorry" cuddles? Maybe even a second bubble bath taking place?
Second comic is delicious and made out of the things I enjoy. <3
ReplyDelete#1 brings a whole new meaning to the term "throw the baby out with the bath water." And I forget what that saying means.
ReplyDeleteTAILBONER
ReplyDelete"Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater"
ReplyDeleteIt just means to make sure you don't get rid of something you want in your enthusiasm to get rid of something you don't.
OR
Don't make the mistake of eliminating something important, in your efforts to eliminate something unimportant.
Really? People are getting all bent out of shape over these?

ReplyDeleteHow many bits does Spike own anyway? I don't think being #1 assistant is a well-paid job :p
ReplyDeleteBoth were funny comics, btw, good job! :)
Rarity may have laid the seeds for Spike's eagerness. Remember how she reacted to him seeing her before the Gala? And we know that she feels that there's a difference between normal walking nudity and in-the-shower.
ReplyDeleteAs for #1..I'd agree that it'd be funnier if Dinky's response was different. It just kind'a sits in the awkward place between 'slapstick' and 'cruel'. Even 'Not again!' works in a weird way. Of course, part of it is the audience's own expectations..
OMG I've fallen in love with work out Rarity!
ReplyDeleteWe all know that ponies don't wear clothes, and this.......don't know what's spike mind is :/
ReplyDeleteI think it's about time we get new season and new material to work with. These fan-made comic are getting weirder and weirder.
ReplyDelete...
ReplyDeleteI don't think I like Dinky abuse...
I don't like Dinky abuse and I prefer hard-working "best mommy" Derpy.
ReplyDeleteOMG SPIKES SO WEIRD COLLECTING THOUSANDS OF PICTURES OF RARI... oh yeah. That's us I'm thinking of.
ReplyDeleteWet Rarity.
ReplyDeleteO.o
I like when she's working out, it looks cute.
ReplyDeleteDyslexic Ditzy is my fav' although I like Silly Ditzy in comics.
ReplyDeleteI really like the silly-but-not-insane Ditzy that PierceSmoulder does in her awesome voice recordings.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought that Ditzy is more like Osaka from Azumanga Daioh than anything else -- she doesn't pay enough attention to what's going on around her, and her mind follows a different track than everypony else, but she's not stupid or crazy or unable to speak normally.
I kind of like the character design of rarity in the second one...the big eyes get me every time...
ReplyDeletepervert! wait till rarity finds out
ReplyDeletederpy's house looks like a blueberry penis.
ReplyDeleteWho else thought Dinky said "Not me, fool!" and was reminded of the Asian guy from Courage the Cowardly Dog?
ReplyDelete
