CommunistPrime, the winner of the official Applejack sketch from Lauren, writes in to let us know that, yes, he received it and, yes, it is awesome.
Just in case you're confused as to what I'm talking about, in April several original sketches were put up for charity auction by Lauren to help the victims in Japan. We hosted several here, but the Applejack one was this one.
Letter from Faust after the break!

ReplyDeleteVery well done
ReplyDeleteSeeing this makes me incredibly happy for many reasons.
ReplyDeleteNow frame it and store it in a museum, where no flash photography is allowed.
ReplyDeleteinb4 grammar nazi
ReplyDeleteWell isn't that just awesome
ReplyDeleteFans of FiM are faggots who only "like" the show because they want to troll others with it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, tell that to the people in Japan. All my thoughts except two to them. The remaining two are "Do want that sketch" and "Lauren sure is awesome".
Yay! Glad to see it got posted.
ReplyDeleteRight now I've got my family back home in the process of framing the sketch, with the letter in the back. I can't wait to see it when I get back home.
Totally worth every penny, both to have the sketch and to help out.
*snicker* Eric B.
ReplyDeleteSo everyone won it?
Freaking nice there...

ReplyDelete>Flash
Oh, I see what you did there
I really like the idea behind these and how much they raised. If i had had the money i would have bid on these. very nice job.
ReplyDeleteWhy did it take him three months to write that to you?
ReplyDelete@Mush
ReplyDeleteUh... what did I do? Those precautions would prevent it from yellowing, right? "The exposure of lignin (some stuff in wood, and by extension, paper,) to air and sunlight is what turns paper yellow." No one wants to see a fadey yellowed sketch! It's gotta be preserved for CENTURIES! This is like the rough draft of the Declaration of Independence for us!
Ya'll don't need to worry about it yellowing or anything. It's being framed back home by my family. My grandma has experience framing, and I've told'em all several times how valuable and unique it is, so they'll handle it with care.
ReplyDeleteAs for taking so long to actually write Seth with this...well, I've been deployed to Afghanistan since May. I only recently told my family to open up the package and have it framed.
He is referring to how the show is done using flash animation.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. Lauren is such a great person for putting these up in the name of raising money for charity. Congrats to him on winning that. :)
ReplyDelete@CommunistPrime
ReplyDeleteYay!
@Sumica
Oh wow, that was obvious. How couldn't I have seen it. (no sarcasm, I'm a tad bit thickheaded.) Granted, I didn't intend for it to be a pun, but it works. I guess I don't think well during the early AMs.
@TheguywithZeldasprites
ReplyDeleteWaitwaitwait. To avoid confusion, I was yay-ing at the precautions, not him being deployed.
CommunistPrime should troll the entire brony community by crudely coloring the $3000 sketch with crayons with colors that are just slightly off from applejack actual color palette
ReplyDeleteSketch is awesome, letter redefine awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteThis sure is old news...
ReplyDeleteBut where are the other 3 people which are holding the sketches? Especially the one with Derpy and Pegasus Pinkie Pie
And i'm really curious who gave 6200Dollars for Twilight
Anyways you would probably seen bigger numbers if each sketch lasted more than 1 week

ReplyDeleteIf Faust has more sketches, it would be awesome if she made another auction for stopping the Starvation in the Horn of Africa.
ReplyDeleteYou knew I was gonna post about this, prime, so here's my comment. So.................Much.................................Hate!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI jelly, all over the place.
ReplyDeleteI'M JELLY!
ReplyDeleteI came
ReplyDeleteI exploded, and then I exploded again. JELLY
ReplyDeleteif i had 1000 more dollars at the time she would be mine!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit confused: Does this mean that the picture only turned up now or has the owner only gotten around to sending it in now?
ReplyDeleteAsides from that, I was always impressed with how that auction turned out. So much good came out of a few pencil sketches.
I only just got around to sending it up. I had the images for a couple weeks before I sent it in, but I hadn't really thought about sending to EqD till about a week and a half ago.
ReplyDeleteSO JELLY!!!!
ReplyDelete@CommunistPrime
ReplyDeleteI salute you, good sir.
I have to ask, though: how'd your family react?
Vacuum seal that thing! And use bullet proof glass!
ReplyDeleteYou lucky bastard, I hate you so much. Okay, that's not true, but you are SO lucky, seriously. If the original sketch of Fluttershy or Rainbow Dash ever gets out there, I would sell both my computers, my TV, and my entire manga/anime collection (which is pretty extensive and has some imports/out-of-prints/rarities) just to get the winning bid.
ReplyDeleteMy god! If she ever does another one and gets a Twilight or Luna I will try to get one =D
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to react to this.
ReplyDelete@CommunistPrime
ReplyDeleteDude!!! If you're ever in the Colorado Springs area, look me up; I figure I owe you a steak and a beverage of your choice!
I'm still floored by the generosity you displayed.
(I owned AJ for about 2 hours... re-donated her for auction after being the lucky first buyer at a charity sale.)
This is an amazing group of people. More info for those who haven't seen this, if interested:

tl;dr:
Back in April, Four pencil sketches of cartoon ponies netted $15,451 for Japan tsunami relief at auction.
So jelly...
ReplyDeleteWow this is awesome stuff! Congrats man!
ReplyDeleteI wonder who got the others?
For whoever that Anon was, my mom and grandma think that it's cute! I don't remember if I told them the amount I spent on it, but they know it was a lot. They took my word for it, and they're not ones to mess with my stuff anyways, especially for something so unique.
ReplyDelete@Metacritter - Aww, thanks. If I were you I don't know if I would have been able to put those sketches back up. You're a great person too, helping net all that cash up. Why don'tcha send me a note on FA (that's where my link leads to) and maybe when I get back from deployment I can swing by if I'm in the area :3
Strange, I thought you won the Derpy sketch...
ReplyDeleteOh well, I'm glad that Communistprime, a wonderful user of our website rainbowdash.net was one of the few to win one of the sketches!
Son, I am proud.
Everyone back to the base partner *snort* *snort*
ReplyDeleteframe that shit, son
ReplyDeleteThat letter was pretty cool. Firefox didn't display it properly, but because I'm too lazy to get another browser, I just hunted down the picture link in the page source. XD
ReplyDelete....thats worth a lot of to somepony!
ReplyDeleteI think I might be a grape... 'cuz I SO JELLY!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's like god wrote and drew it...
ReplyDeleteI am so sad that I didn't win Twilight :(
