Hey! She has a hat. Too bad it's pink. These bootleg ponies are popping up on Alababa.com. It looks like they are pretty much the exact same thing as the normal ones, just lower quality and...pineapples.
Though now that I really look at it, are those pac man pieces?
You can find Applejack here!
And Rarity here!
Thanks to Casey for the heads up!

Pac man?
ReplyDeleteWut.
incoming lawsuit!
ReplyDeleteI thought that the theme was pinecones, where did the pineapples come form? O_o
ReplyDeleteMy Little Phony.
ReplyDeleteTINY FUPPETS
ReplyDeleteAWESOME I LOVE PINEAPPLES!
ReplyDeletePineapple Jack is now cannon.
ReplyDelete...Oh, dear God.
'Funny' is right.
ReplyDelete>My little funny
ReplyDeleteI fail to see the humor
Why oh why has that AJ got a glove included when she has no fingers?
ReplyDeleteBootleg rocks and at least AppleJack has a hat...Hasbro better step it up now hehehe =XD
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or did Rarity's cutie mark grew to her front legs?
ReplyDeleteBootlegs? screw that. If we're gonna spend money on kids toys, we should give the money to hasbro. not that we should be buying kids toys in the first place, but I hear that some people are into that
ReplyDeleteActually on closer inspection that AJ has G3.5 Rainbow Dash's hat, or at least it resembles it.
ReplyDeleteHow hard is it to make a BROWN plastic cowboy hat for Applejack?! Annoys the hell out of me.
ReplyDeleteThese are awful. But funny indeed. lol Interesting little accessories too. I wonder what they were thinking when they made the pink hat and accessories. But okay then. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure they infringed the copyright by putting the character image on the packaging, why not go the extra step? It's not even laziness, they made it *more* complicated than it needed to be.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm a genius, I should be their king.
Arrrrrgh, even Pineapplejack has a hat. Come on, Hasbro!
ReplyDeleteWell... At least she has a hat...
ReplyDeleteI mean, I presume there must be money in doing this sort of thing or they wouldn't bother, but I can't, for the life of me, figure out -how-.
ReplyDeleteI KNEW Raity and AJ were Psych fans...
ReplyDeleteThis post should probably have the links removed. I just wouldn't want to risk Hasbro thinking we'd prefer cheap knockoffs.
ReplyDeleteWho's a funny pony?
ReplyDeleteI can buy Rarty AND OPPLEJACK!? Delightful. Do these ones have adorable symbols?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWho is?
You is!
Pinapplejack!
The fact that the knock off Applejack comes with a hat of any sort makes it 100% better than what Hasbro is selling.
ReplyDeleteThey accidentally Rarity's cutie mark all over her.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Rockabore on this one though. Remove the links.
IMPOSTERS! Let's boycott their stuff and tell the owners of MLP about this. We cannot stand for this outrage!
ReplyDeleteMy Little Phony: Infringement is Tragic.
ReplyDeleteI love the description given to Pineapple Jack
ReplyDelete"VINYL HORSE PONY TOYS -Material:vinyl -Package:PVC box -Appearance:cartoon horse Best gifts for girls or other children."
Naturally, it's from China.
I'm also trying to figure out how "sex toys" wound up in the related search list... o.O
...Why is this of any concern to us?
ReplyDeleteI'd only get one of those for AJs hat, so then I could make a mold and do a few up properly.
ReplyDelete@Star Winged Brit
ReplyDelete>implying it's a glove...
Now that's funny...even by a little.
ReplyDeleteWell Hasbro will have more money then they did this month :X
ReplyDeleteAJ has a hat... it's pink.
ReplyDeleteHASBROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I swear, those idiots...
Do they even realize that the show isn't this Girly Girly fru fru nonesense anymore, but something great? So SELL THE RESPECTIVE TOYS!!
lol. Celestia... hmm... let's make her pink.
They want a hat on AJ, but brown is not girly enough a colo-- OH COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow alot of people dont know what the bootleg market is. saying boycotts, and lawsuits and whatnot. these are clearly made for overseas outlet malls and such.
ReplyDeleteYou're not gonna find these in your local toys r us or anything. dont worry about it. there have been bootlegs on thousands of brands of toys before ad it will continue in the future. Its funny, and take it at face value on the site reporting it, but dont get all riled up thinking that hasbro "needs to do something about it".
but applejack as a hat. theyve one up hasbro for the moment
I like how the box still has a vector of Applejack with her REAL hat, even though the toy for some reason has a pink hat (hi, have I introduced you two? Hasbro, Applejack. Applejack, Hasbro. Applejack, did you know that Hasbro likes completely failing at making toys? And Hasbro, you should know right now that Applejack would never be caught dead wearing pink. Now that you two have been introduced, HASBRO CLEAN UP YOUR ACT)
ReplyDeleteWait, it's NOT hasbro?
ReplyDeleteMy mistake. Somepony is still trolling us though.
You know, It'd have been funny if those were better than the originals. Show accurate, not recolors... and they had derpy and Lyra and Bonbon and the rest of the BG ponies.
ReplyDeletePink Pineapples? What?
ReplyDeleteWho thinks up these things?! Better yet, who approves them?!?
My Little rip off
ReplyDeleteBanish these bootleggers to the moon
ReplyDeleteIt's not that surprising that there's bootlegs. in my local 2 euro shop they've been selling cheap pony rip offs ("my lovely horse" i case you were curious). mind you, the ones featured look a lot better than the ones iv'e seen...
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Mike Mozart/Jeepersmedia will do a video on these knock-offs, since he's done videos on knock-off toys before.
ReplyDeleteThe fashion style Applejack also has a pink hat, so that's not really anything new.
ReplyDeleteI love the pineapples, though. Pineapples for all ponies!!
I wish I knew how to type the disappointed face.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how stuff like this even exists. Can Hasbro sue the maker or...?
Hey, at least they're accurate to the show ;)
For everyone getting mad -- bootlegs happen. It's actually a good sign of how popular a franchise is getting when the poorly crafted copies start showing up. If anything, it's kind of a compliment. There are bootlegs of every popular product out there. And they're hilarious, because they're so incredibly obvious.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Hasbro isn't going to get the idea that people prefer buying bootleg ponies, especially since you can find these links and these ponies without even trying. It's like stumbling into a shipping fic around here -- it just happens. Not to mention it's not as simple as purchasing one of them -- there's a lot that goes into purchasing items (and they're usually in bulk) off sites like that. : )
...although I'm now counting down until Pineapplejack shows up in an AU fanfic. :D
Bootleg toys suck, and they can be dangerous to your children(and you of course). There can be illegal stuff in them like lead paint and shit.
ReplyDeleteNever buy bootleg toys.
Pineapplejack. Altered her body with plastic surgery to more resemble applejack so she can infiltrate the business and sabotage the farm, and thus, her pineapples will finally sell at the market!
ReplyDeleteFANFIC AWAAAAAAAAAY!!!
Those must be purged. ... Though, if they're cheaper they might be good for customs. hmmm... No! Remain strong!
ReplyDelete@DareDreamer
ReplyDeleteDisappointed face;
>:|
That Rarity's face is ugly as sin, though (pine)applejack is strangely alright. How on earth do you screw up that badly?
Uhh, Even the official Fashion style Applejack comes with a hat. The bootleg is nothing more than a ripoff of that version of her and her hat. Both Hasbro and the Copycats got the hat color wrong.
ReplyDeleteGuys, get this. Watch bootleg celestia turn out to be white.
ReplyDelete@Bitmun
ReplyDeleteActually I meant: ಠ_à²
I just copied and pasted it, I just wish I knew there was a way to just type it instead of copypaste it :P
You know a franchise is doing well when some shady small-time company starts churning out cheap knock-offs for Poundland to distribute >.>
ReplyDeleteOh, hey, maybe we can all pester Ashens to review them!
ReplyDeleteChoking hazard indeed, that's exactly what happened to me when I saw Rarity's cutie mark.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone interested in seeing more hilariously bad bootlegs, I suggest watching Ashen's youtube series. I love his bootleg toy and electronics unboxings.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ashens.com/
What is this?....I dont even...
ReplyDeleteLooks like Rarity's cutie mark is spreading... like a rash.
ReplyDeleteSeeing as how it is Hasbro that's bringing us the episodes, and not some Chinese slave-labor camp, I think we ought to shun these bootlegs.
Pineapples huh? well they got it half right I guess...
ReplyDeleteI lol'd and then compared rarity's horn with the real toy one.. the bootleg rarity horn looks weird that size (maybe because i'm used to the short horn toy?). this supports that the bootleg toys are dangerous for children, i mean, just look at that horn! it'll end getting someone blind someday
ReplyDeletealso i think if this thing continues someday we'll see a pony toy thing that shots plastic darts
I can't be the only one who thinks these knockoffs look more like the show's characters than the real ones.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I've just been blown away by the fact that Applejack actually has a hat. Frilly and frou-frou though it is.
@wanderhoof
ReplyDeleteUh-oh... are cutie marks contagious?
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYeah that
pretty much has to be a thing now
My Little Phony: Pineapples are Magic
ReplyDeleteIn before bootleg pony fanfics.
ReplyDelete@Star Winged Brit
ReplyDeleteApplejack always dresses in style?
Commence the incoming deluge of Pineapple Jack fanfics.
ReplyDelete@wanderhoof Friendship is infectious.
ReplyDelete@Fadri
ReplyDeleteAHH!!! IT HURTS!!!
Dem ponies love their colored pineapples.
ReplyDeleteDon't even think about buying it, it either contains lead paint (or worse), or was made by slave/child labor. Or all of the above.
ReplyDelete@Fadri Having mental images of that now, thanks.
ReplyDeleteCould somepony pass the mind bleach?
I would like the community to know buying bootlegs is a bad idea as they can contain lead and other dangerous things
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to make bootleg toys at least make them different from the official merch. Pink hatted Applejack is already available. Now if they made a Hasbro style Rainbow Dash with spikey hair I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteOk maybe pink hatted Applejack isn't available. Still if the bootleg guys made a Rainbow Dash with a spikey mane before Hasbro do I'm buying it.
ReplyDeleteSend these damn bootlegers to the moon for not watching the TV show before making toys
ReplyDeleteAnd this is why we can't have nice things.
ReplyDeleteFinally the world has come...
ReplyDeleteAnd dear god I want to laugh!
At least you can use those cheep-o's as baits for Pony customization!
There's now way I'd buy a bootleg pony that looks like that. No matter how much less they cost (if they even sold them in the states) I'd buy authentic. They look a bit... off, there's the quality issue, and Hasbro wouldn't be able to put my money towards season two. Unless someone fulfills my wishlist with a quality, collectable grade, but unofficial Derpy, Lyra, Trixie, & accurate princesses, I'm buying everything from Hasbro. And I'd still wait till Hasbro shoots down hope before I buy one, and buy another from them if they change their mind.
ReplyDeleteFor those who really want a hat for Applejack, Playmobil is close to the scale of the brushables, just a bit smaller. I rooted through my sister's old stuff, found the biggest hat, then used a bit of tape & string to get it to stay behind her ears like in the vector. I'm sure you could borrow a hat from other toy lines as well.
For the love of Celestia & Luna, don't encourage these people over a hat!
Rarity looks gross.

ReplyDeleteThis does not deserve its own post on ED.
ReplyDeleteThis deserves to be banished to pony hell.
Looks like this :)
ReplyDeletehttp://oi55.tinypic.com/8y6vxx.jpg
Annnnd...who lives with pineapples and can not be unseen?
ReplyDeleteBOOT! LEG! CRAP! TOY!
I'm guessing no one's seen the real Fashion Pony Applejack because she has the same pink hat. There's also a smaller, normal sized AJ with a hat (it's purple) but it only comes with AJ's barn set.
ReplyDeleteI saw this and at first I thought it was official or some kind of joke
ReplyDeleteAnd then I found out it was legit and I was like "wat".
Wat the hay is this crap
ReplyDelete"Cow Tools" anyone?
ReplyDeleteThat blue hand thing. I figure it's like a grooming mitt, but it has A FACE ON IT.
And on first glance I could've sworn that red ribbon was actually a mouse liver that had found its way into the packaging somehow.
@LimeyLassen
ReplyDeleteI think it's supposed to be an octopus o.o
Wow! They look just as off-model as the originals! I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteThese would make good baits for customs though, if they're cheaper than the actual stuff :P
ReplyDeleteSome background on knockoffs, for the uninitiated:
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counterfeit_consumer_goods
Taken from the top of the product page:
ReplyDelete"You might also be interested in pony toys, pony horse toy, pony cycle toy and sex toy."
Wait, WHAT? How the heck did they make the jump from Pinapplejack/Friendship is Funny to "sex toy"?
How can you make this entry and not post this?
ReplyDeletehttp://i51.tinypic.com/24wsk9h.jpg
@Hunter X
ReplyDelete...it occurred to me how that leap in logic could've been made, and now I'm sad. The internet is a bad place.
Hmmm. That site has a strict no counterfeiting rule. That supplier may be kicked off if somepony reported them.
ReplyDeleteI saw one of the MLP Facebook fan groups post a link to these and LOL'd. Oh you, China...
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the fun that I had one time trying to search for legit Pokemon plastic figures (you know, the original TOMY ones that Hasbro used to sell in sets) on Amazon.
The results came up with a whole lot of "Set of 200+ Pokemon Figures!" for sale, and you could see from the pictures by looking at the terrible paint jobs and the off-model figures that they were counterfeit. Then again, the fact that they were from "Hong Kong, China" and "China, China" was another big tip-off.
So, yeah, not surprised that something as popular as MLP would get knock off versions.
The hilarious thing? If Applejack's hat was brown we would probably buy out their stock just to get the hat. Wouldn't matter if the doll itself was a stick with magic marker coloration (and I've seen enough bootleg toy sites to know really-low-grade stuff is fairly common) as long as there a brown plastic hat in there we'd bite.
ReplyDeleteHasbro, this is what you get for making your toys in China.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be amusing if they made ones better than Hasbro's. Back in the day, there were some Transformers counterfeits/bootlegs that collector's seem to enjoy more because they were more functional and better than Hasbro's versions.
Hastroll.
ReplyDeleteYou did it again.
I must say, I love the description:
ReplyDelete"best gift for girls or other children"
Hasbro, this is what you get for making your toys in China.

anybody else think of the movie Little Nicky when they saw the pineapple?
