Yes, the Ivy League university Yale... more specifically their law and technology department. Remember that My Little Wu-Tang Clan video? That is the primary subject of the article, dealing with various copyright issues and fair use clauses. It's an interesting read if you are into law and stuff, but the real issue at hand here is...
WHY IS YALE LAW DISCUSSING PONIES?
We have officially spread everywhere. My goals in life are complete. Season 3, 4, 5...all guaranteed. I'm converting this into gaming blog #30 now.

Wow.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think the human race as a whole just overthinks things way too much.
~Dark~
I don't get it..is it American?
ReplyDeleteAlso first.
Well, I now have more respect for the Ivies.
ReplyDeleteAlso, no you're not first Coffee and yes Yale is an American University
I used to wonder what friendship could be
ReplyDeleteuntil you all subpoena'd me
@zZDarkMemoriesZz
ReplyDeleteI concur.
Shame on a pony who tried to run game on a pony.
ReplyDeleteYale is the most prestigious law school in the country, maybe the world
ReplyDeleteWoah! 5 seasons already confirmed! That's so amazing I'M BURSTING INTO FLAMES!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteVICTORY SCREEECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O3O
ReplyDeleteNow I just gotta get Columbia to mention ponies.
That is so Awesome. We are everywhere... I can't wait for where we will be next!
ReplyDelete@zZDarkMemoriesZz
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
Also can somepony explain what the URL bar is for when I put my name in?
If I dont use it will I die?
inb4 we suffer the same fate as Dragonball... if we do, at least we were taken seriously like THIS XD
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm a Yale brony myself (undergrad) -- nice to see there are a few more of us on this campus :)
ReplyDeleteIs the debate going on atm then?
ReplyDeleteI went to California Institute of the Arts, the most prestigious ANIMATION school in the country. Still, nothing quite compares to YALE, it's more or less the highest kind of school one can aspire to attend.
ReplyDeleteWe did it Bronies. We made them notice us :}
yay! We're soon in court!
ReplyDeleteYour goal is complete and you're quitting? Come on Sethisto, that's what you said the first time someone made a Trixie plushie.
ReplyDeleteOh YLS...
ReplyDeleteWhere's the link, though?
ReplyDeleteWhat a story, mark
ReplyDeleteHere's the link:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.yalelawtech.org/fair-use-of-the-week/fair-use-of-the-week-my-little-wu-tang-clan-by-viraus2/
The important part is at the very bottom: The video is indeed protected by fair use!
Hooray!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThank you, kind anon. That was an interesting article, fair use is an important legal dohicky, and it's good to try and get an understanding of it.
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete>Regardless of how or why the 20 and 30 somethings were first drawn to Twilight Sprinkle and the mystical land of Equestria,
>Twilight Sprinkle
That made me laugh way harder than it should've.
"Season 3, 4, 5...all guaranteed."
ReplyDeleteWhere did you read this?
> WHY IS YALE LAW DISCUSSING PONIES?
ReplyDeleteIs it really that surprising? Fair use law is a big fucking deal. This guy got screwed out of 32 thousand for something that clearly falls under fair use:
http://waxy.org/2011/06/kind_of_screwed/
and I really hope that doesn't happen to bronies :(
And then it was renamed Celestia's Academy for Gifted Unicorns.
ReplyDeleteOk, where is my Duke Nukem Forever review?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteA Yale Undergrad? You don't say! I guess I'm not the only one, then... College/Year? I'm Morse '13
tbh, that was a quite interesting read though a weird example. Nevertheless the conclusion seemed to be in our favor, so I'm happy! ^^
ReplyDeleteDo you suppose Youtube would unblock my Beastie Boys video if I sent them this?
ReplyDeleteTwilight Sprinkle is new best pony.
ReplyDeleteBlast! Beaten to first by a Sad Lyra avatar...I can't hate that. :(
ReplyDeleteStill waitin' on more Trixie fanfics. C'mon, it's been ages since someone popped a new one up there!
I found the analysis intriguing. Also, there's now an ad at the top with a link to "Yale Bowls" made from Fluttersh...er, I mean trees.
ReplyDelete@Casey
ReplyDeleteSY '12, myself. As I said, nice to know that New Haven has its share of pony fans.
Viraus2 commented on the article, and it definitely got a laugh out of me.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see some intellectual professor say, "I'm afraid I simply must disagree. The scene in which Pinkie Pie discusses the fallacies of urban gun crime were brilliantly assembled!"
ReplyDelete13) Infiltrate higher educational facilities - Accomplished in ten seconds flat (Yale has been infiltrated)
ReplyDelete14) Saturate higher educational facilities - Needs to be 20% more complete
15) Infiltrate local (American) political systems via higher educational facilities or otherwise - Accomplished in ten seconds flat, ahead of schedule (The Clinton's, who have prominent political connections and presence, have been infiltrated)
16) Saturate local (American) political systems via higher educational facilities or otherwise - Needs to be 20% more complete
17) Spur U.S. military development of orbital strike missile armed with cupcakes and friendship - Needs to be 20% more complete
18) Reach the optimal altitude for missile deployment - Needs to be 20% more complete
19) My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will be released into the atmosphere, ensuring COMPLETE... GLOBAL... SATURATION! - Needs to be 20% more complete
MFW Twilight Sprinkle
ReplyDeletesomeone needs to make an image of "Twilight sprinkle" right nao seriously
ReplyDeleteI put that video on my facebook page, and a friend told me today he watched it 20+ times so far, so it's now my go-to pony introduction. Plus, it's the best thing ever.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that the author corrected that Sprinkle typo. Also, the video's creator's comment made me lol.
ReplyDeleteWow, so there are a few Yale Bronies in here. Grad student, here -- soon to be 4th year. Working on converting some other grad students, too.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSomehow, I'm not THAT surprised.
ReplyDeleteNow we just need to get to the Senate and make sure that the 10-strikes/no streaming law doesn't pass.
LOL, I think the "Seasons 3, 4 & 5 are guaranteed" is just something tongue-in-cheek. "This thing is so popular there's no way they can NOT make more seasons of MLP:FIM!"
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the decision go forward with Season 3 will be made while Season 2 is airing. If the ratings for S2 are good AND official pony merch sales remain strong I personally think we'll see a season 3. :)
This is not Yale Law! These are Yale undergrads under the direction of a lawyer and law-student research assistant at the Yale Law and Tech project.
