• Twilight Sparkle Boot Up Animation For Android

For those of you with rooted android phones (and a few others), this pack of downloads will replace the boring stock boot-up screen with the best pony in the show!

Inside the Zip you will find different resolutions for various devices.  Be sure to check out the readme and follow the link to determine the correct size for your phone.

Note: this is primarily for people with rooted phones, though through hours of google I found it is possible on some to do it without.  The readme also gives a brief explanation on how to do it through console commands with the android SDK.

Warning: Rooting your phone does void the warranty, and there is always a chance you will screw something up and brick it. It's also a pain depending on your firmware (Like my 2 hours of hell yesterday!)

The DA page for this is here!

    Have a download link!

You can find the video of Twilight Sparkle summoning the Android OS after the break!

    7. I did it on my unmodded LG Flick a while ago. You just need a looped .gif file and a phone that lets you change the startup picture, which is pretty standard.

If your startup time is pretty consistent, you can even use a short clip instead of a loop. I'm trying to have my mane screen pop up right when Filly Twilight's eyes start glowing, but timing it and keeping lag low is hard.

    8. I wonder if it would work with mine...

    9. Um... Seth... just so you know this post will probably confuse Australian viewers for a little while, as rooting is Aussie slang for:
      a) Sex
      b) Something is 'rooted' when it's broken or just plain fucked up.

      The more you know.

    12. I would do this if I had a normal Droid, but I like my R2-D2 start-up as is. Especially when I'm in school taking a calc test and my phone resets and beeps extremely loudly. That was awesome.

    14. A reason to turn a brick into a brick? I have the same phone from the video, unrooted. The thing is a brick with a shorter life span than a pet rock.

Now, when you get something a little more animate and much more Best Pony, then we'll root.

    19. Yeah, so I have a Galaxy S2 for about... a month now. Not going to throw away my warranty. Any brony could it to work through that ADB method?

You know, if you root and put Cyanogenmod on your G2x, you'll notice that all the problems regarding battery life, heat, etc will go away.

Likely it could. Maybe check http://forum.xda-developers.com for info about changing the boot animation on your version of the Galaxy.

If you convince Flaxx to create the art, I'll make it into a boot animation.

I have that phone too and it really does suck until you install CM7 on it. If you get it working, it WORKS! I'll give a link if you really want.
Anywho, I don't think I'll install just because it's kinda plain...

    24. I tried the ADB method because I don't have rooted phone but unfortunately, it didn't work. Too bad.

    25. Rooting doesn't necessarily mean you void your warranty. As long as the phone still gets recognized by the computer, you can in most cases put the original image back on the phone. According to the guy from my provider where I bought the phone, they usually don't even care if you bring it in with a custom rom, as long as you didn't brick it (and it is nearly impossible to brick a Galaxy S). They just repair the hardware and erase all the data anyway.

Besides, for some phones all it takes to root, is to download one app and run it --> your phone is now rooted.

    26. Works great on my G2x. Better than the CM7 boot.

    27. As a warning, as of right now only the 480x800 version is set up correctly.

I have an HTC Hero, which is 320x480, and when I installed that boot screen, Twilight was getting cut off at the sides. I looked in the desc.txt files for all versions, and ALL of them said "480 800" for their first line, causing the phone to attempt to render the animation at that resolution even when it's not physically capable of it.

By editing the desc.txt for 320x480 to have the right dimensions on the first line, I was able to get it to work.

PonyGeist, you might want to fix this in all of them and reupload your file.

    30. Bit of fiddling around with the image sizes and the code got it running nicely on my Motorola Flipout!

Anyone looking to easily root their phones should try Universal Androot btw. ;D
