ReplyDeleteStop crying because you're 4th :3
Well now that I finally got one I'm going to quit trying. XD
ReplyDeleteEveryone should be first once :3
Woo, Roseluck!
ReplyDeleteWait, no happy ending?
I'M SO CONFLICTED.
I expect a small flood of Roseluck now, thanks to IsaacShark's Rose competition that you reported about a few nightly sumups ago.
ReplyDeleteStrange question, but has anyone even read the story yet?
ReplyDeleteThat was sad.
ReplyDeleteYay! Roseluck! She's so adorable, I was waiting for a Roselyck fic.
ReplyDeleteSadness! Why, the midnight sadness?
ReplyDeleteI should stop reading stories like this before bed. D:
ReplyDeleteIts touching... You can rewrite a story to make it better, even though the story doesnt actually have a happy ending. And finding out the truth always hurts at first.
ReplyDeleteOuch. Tis better to pass before such an age methinks than to linger on in decrepit delusion.
ReplyDeleteNew Favorite: Roseluck!
ReplyDeleteShe's just so pretty!! I can't help but fall in love with her.
A good short sad story.
ReplyDeleteMe: BAWWWWWW
ReplyDeleteHER NAME IS ROSE NOT ROSELUCK
ReplyDeleteThe bad date catches my attention really quickly, their dialogue is really natural. This is a very nicely told vignette, I was just rather hoping for more. It's so short!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteEverypony that's used her name here would disagree with you, and so would I.
Is there some reason why can't they both be her name? Roseluck can be her full name, but everyone calls her Rose for brevity's sake. The name on my birth certificate is Nicholas, but everyone calls me Nick, they're both still my name.

ReplyDeleteJust because everyone here believes it, doesn't make it true.
Her name is Rose, ON THE SHOW. They said it: "Rose", not Roseluck. Where does that name come from anyway?

ReplyDelete"Just because everyone here believes it, doesn't make it true."
Uhm, yes. Yes it does, that's kind of how fanon works, which is all we really have to go on for these background ponies, as for where Roseluck's name came from: second row on the left. Granted, it's just an Applejack recolour, hence the freckles, but Rose and Roseluck are too similar not to be the same pony, so both names are assigned to her. Ponies can go by more than one name, you know, or do you think Derpy Hooves, Ditzy Doo and Bright Eyes are three separate ponies?
@ Anon 10:11
ReplyDeleteSo that's where 'Roseluck' is coming from? "Too similar" does not mean "same pony".
You're failing to remember that "Rose" was given to her ON THE SHOW. Hasbro and their toys hardly ever get anything right. They made Celestia pink, they gave Applejack a truck, a Hasbro representative called Fluttershy, "Shutterfly". Why should they be taken seriously when it comes to names?
Derpy Hooves and Bright Eyes are fanon names that have yet to canonized on the show. Ditzy Doo was 'named' on the show, but there's no confirmation on whether or not she is the same as Derpy.
The toy is called Roseluck, she is called Rose in the show, why can't her real name be Roseluck and Rose be a short variant of it?
ReplyDeleteI mean, nopony say Pinkamena Diane Pie when they talk about Pinkie Pie, and we know that her real name is Pinkamena Diane Pie.
Far as I'm concerned she's named Roseluck but I just call her Rose for short.
ReplyDeleteAnyways this story was short and pretty sad, sad because it's just so hard to be the only one able to care for your family when they can't take care of themselves anymore. And the thought of being completely forgotten by a loved one you care so much for who've been so close to your whole life can be gut wrenching to say the least.
Poor Rose has no time to live her own life and find her own happiness without always thinking of her Grandmother's well being. That sort of stress can and have ruined many peoples lives and relationships. I can only hope she'll find some happiness down the line.
