As for the videos, ehhh... these were a good effort, but I think they could've been a lot better with some better lip syncing and audio/visual matchups. They had some great moments, but not enough of them, I thought. Sorry. :(
eleventh. :P these were all awesome but i really wanna see someone do RE:your brains with ponies or dr. whooves the animated series. Now THOSE would be perfect.
These are some great PMVs. I'm especially surprised at how well the first one works. The polka songs are pretty much guaranteed to work but a song like the one in the first vid takes a lot more care to put together to a video properly. Very good scene selection, timing, and lip syncing.
This is the first time I've ever heard "Perform this Way," and I loved every second of it! Matching Rarity to a parody of Lady Gaga was genius, and so well done too.
#1: Let's see...a good song parodied well by a good artist with a better beat (in my opinion) paired up with a great show showcasing my favorite character? How can I not love this? [favorite]
#2: That was just all-around good fun. Why I haven't been listening to more of this guy's stuff is beyond me, but now I must find more. (Of course, I could have gone without kissing pics...at least there was an apology).
I still haven't decided if I've pushed through my Weird Al-esque music phase yet. It's things like this that draw me back in. I just can't get enough of those compilation polkas :)
Also, curse you Wierdplatformer! I always notice you commenting, but it's always before me! If I wasn't at work all day...
In my experience, it seems that PMV's work best with one of two types of music: Ska (such as the PMV "The Cutie Mark I Get") or Weird Al songs. Now if only we could get Al to do a Ska genre song...
By the way, has anypony made a PMV of The Aquabats' "Super Rad" yet?
@Wierdplatformer I believe that Weird Al actually did mention a PMV on his twitter a while back. Can't remember which one, I don't follow twitter, but it turned up somewhere with my usual pony news. I see him as the kind of person that would join the herd, but if he's said anything about ponies since that one post, I've missed it. I need to go replace all my album art now...
I'll be honest, I never really payed much attention to Weird Al before ponies...
Then you have missed a lot. I remember Weird Al from when Dr Demento was playing his garage tapes back in the Eighties. Back when he was a one-man garage band. He'd done HUNDREDS of songs, song parodies, filks, and general novelty-song weirdness like these over the past 30 years.
P.S. And Weird Al is a Brony! He Bronied when he started watching MLP:FIM with his little daughter, and is said to be appearing in a voice role in Season 2.

Thanks for this. Now I can die happy.
ReplyDeleteI hate wierd Al so much! Such a shame to dirty out lovely ponys with his dull and childish parodys :(
ReplyDeleteWell this made my day, right before work too :D
ReplyDeleteAh dang, I forgot Katy's song was in that polka version. All those images sent chills down my spine. Wasn't prepared for all of that at all.

ReplyDeleteDon't know if trolling or serious.
How could you not like Weird Al? His parodies aren't dull.
I lol'd at the ponified album covers, and I like the second PMV. I'll need to watch the first one.
Both of these PMVs were really good, but the original Perform This Way PMV was a lot better with matching the clips IMO.

That first album cover is priceless. How many more PMV's does a guy have to make before Al makes a pony song / an appearance on the show?
ReplyDeletethey did poodle hat's cover but not running with scissors or bad hair day (bad mare day?) c'mooooon
ReplyDeleteNumber 2 was amazing both visually and musically in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteDat Pics, though... *rolls eyes*
Weird Al is alright, I liked him a lot more when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteI don't know...he just doesn't trash the stuff he's parodying hard enough for me.
Hah, I love the Weird Al pony covers. I loved most of Weird Al's music way before Friendship is Magic made it even better.
ReplyDeleteLoved the Rarity PMV, was good. Plus I love that song. :D
The second video was good too. Another fun Weird Al song.

Dedicated brony is dedicated. Also, I really want that Rarity Preform This Way poster. Like, on my wall. Right now.

I was expecting Straight outta Ponyville, butthis amused me.
ReplyDelete@Bugsydor
ReplyDeletemay i direct your attention to Al's song "That's Your Horoscope For Today"?
@Gravenstein
ReplyDeleteDangit, how could I have forgotten about that one? That was one of my favorites, too. *Immediately goes to Amazon Music to download it.*
Now I need to figure out if anypony has made a PMV of that one, too. Thanks!
Ok, I unsurprisingly found vids for each of those songs. I love the internet.

ReplyDeleteI'd never heard those weird al songs before, so even though the PMVs themselves were meh, I got a kick out of the songs.
ReplyDeleteAll throughout the second one I was like, "is he gonna do I kissed a girl, or tik tok?" And when he did both of them, I burst out laughing. Awesome.

ReplyDeleteYou know, Polka Gaga is really, really good.
ReplyDeleteI rate it up there with bluegrass Modest Mouse.
Ponies just make the whole thing even more awesome.
@Hellfish
ReplyDeleteuse "hotspot shield" or some other proxy tool to bypass the blocking
And suddenly Polka was amazing.
