ReplyDeleteWait, I never knew this show's development started all the way back in 2008. I imagine Pinkie would have been pretty much the same exept she wouldn't have needed Rainbow Dash's help for that prank in Grifon the brush off... and she wouldn't have that hillarious flying contraption... come to think of it she would have been a much different pony if she wasn't an earth pony. But this makes me wonder what Fluttershy would be like as an earth pony. Sounds like a good idea for a fanfic if you ask me.

@Star Winged Brit, I think part of what makes Pinkie so effective is how far she has to go in order to do the stuff she does. Since wings would increase her range of movement, that reduces the impact of her getting to the places she gets to.

The Pokemon merch was not cards, it was rare plushes, figures, shirts etc all imported from Japan.

ReplyDeleteI could've needed a sister like her when I was a kid - we would've created the Cardboard-Box Musical. I know the feeling of repression all to well, and just like hell MLP is helping me to stop helping myself, even though I'm still struggling - it's fascinating what an impact mean people over the years will have on your brain and your soul. It's always nice to hear how this show affects the life of people in positive ways! :)

Really cool sketch, I like seeing stuff like this a lot.
Also, whoa, I just read the story accompanying the sketch. That's amazing and touching. I didn't know my respect for Lauren could get any higher, but it just got a huge boost.

ReplyDeleteI personally think it's a hell of a lot funnier that she's an Earth pony, and Rainbow Dash STILL can't outrun her. This is because Pinkie Pie defies logic and reason, which makes her all the more fun.
Oh I remember her, she asked me not to bid, but in the end it didn't matter cause I didn't get any of them....but Lauren did comment calling me and the other guy that started the bidding war on Derpy saints

Anyone who's anyone (or Fluttershy) knows that this is Pinkie's greatest and longest running prank. Pinkie Pie IS a pegasus pony. She simply uses her supply of invisible ink on her pegasus wings to CONVINCE everypony she's an earth pony. That's how she defies gravity, breaks physics, and can keep up with her dear friend Rainbow Dash. Pinkie is all about the parties and the pranks. She is the fastest in all of Equestria, but would never brag about it, since she knows how much that would hurt her dear friend Dashie. She just wants to keep the party alive and the prank running strong!
ReplyDeleteOnly Fluttershy knows the truth (She is a year older than Pinkie Pie after all, and they've been friends for SOOOOO LOOOONG), but the weight of keeping the secret for so long has stressed poor Fluttershy into being my little recluse. She worries about spilling the beans (Cross her heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in her eye), so she's moved just outside town, and has taken up caring for animals, the creatures who simply can't ever spill the beans. The consequences of breaking her promise with Pinkie would risk the trust and friendship between them FOREVER!!! She's become a bit shy around others as a result, but she is genuinely kind, and would never tell me Pinkie Pie's secret...
No Fluttershy didn't tell me anything at all. Nothing. I know nothing! No PINKIE! NOOOO! Don't interrogate me! NOOOOO!!!

That's Surprise folks! She was the G1 equivalent to the rambunctious, kooky, party-loving pinkie pie. There's some colored versions on the net somewhere that used to be on Faust's DA.

ReplyDeleteI remember that thread! I helped LadyDraconic compose a letter to Lauren Faust. I had faintly hoped that at the very least, Mrs. Faust would reply with a few inspiring words. I *NEVER* expected this outcome!

ReplyDeleteThat story of hers hits home for me too. When I came home from Afghanistan, MLP:FiM helped me deal with a lot of problems I had. Anger issues was the worst.
