#1 is a lovely, positive bit for Luna. It's nice to hear a song for Luna that isn't sad or ominous. It'd probably belong in a night-time stage or a nocturnal festival.
I love the background noise in #2. It reminds me of a bunch of metronomes going out of sync, which woks for a musical pony like Octavia. The piece has a great sense of urgency and style to it. Much love.
Octavia's Battle Theme is excellent. I could see a musical piece like it in a Final Fantasy game or such. It's certainly a boss battle theme for some game, at any case.
Having listened to the second one in full, now, and having never played FF beyond Tactics Advanced, I have to say it reminds me more of the music for Warcraft 1 and 2.
Side note, is the name Octavia purely fan made? I don't recall it being mentioned in the last episode but it seems to "agreed upon" to be just a fan made name
First was chill. Then it really started. It's nice. The synth gives it an N64 vibe (in a good way). I actually wonder how awesome it would be if some of those 3D pony animations were dumped onto an N64 cartridge that could work with the hardware.
Battle theme is srs business. But I can dig it. It should be in that fighting game going on.
Damn, we do have a lot of flash projects going on, don't we...?
The first one was alright. Its kinda upbeat and a fun listen. It kinda had the usual sound of many songs I hear that are coupled with Luna. But it was alright.
Octavia's Battle Theme was quite grand. I really enjoyed it. It's dynamic like you would want for such a song, and it certainly has that strong classical touch to it like you would expect from Octavia. Nicely done. Oh Octavia, you're such a great musician. <3 lol
Oh God why, bronies, why... EVERYTIME I finally make up my mind about who's my favourite pony, you crazy ponies always have to come up with something awesome that punts me right back into the uncertainty zone. ;_;
Gotta say the Octavia battle theme is just downright epic, seems like she's getting a whole lotta love lately!
Octavia's theme would actually make a decent lead up to the Orchestral version of the battle theme of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann....someone want to make a mash up? Ponies and TTGL have joined forces before.
#2 Ha, in the course of the fanfic I'm doing (and yes, you can find it here under the author name "Recamen"), I'd once considered a pony fight (Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Luna) vs. Octavia, but later opted against it.
On the one hand, it doesn't feel very... tense as a battle theme normally would. On the other, Octavia strikes me as the sort of pony who goes to pieces if she lacks a plan, and can't handle intense situations very well. Kinda like Hermione of the Potter series.
I've been playing Darkspore, an action RPG by Maxis as of late. While the music that comes in the game is good, there isn't many themes. So, I've been trying to think of other pieces of music that could be used.
As soon as I started listening to Octavia's Battle Theme, I knew I had found a good theme for Arcturus, the massive machine that is often regarded as the hardest boss in the game. It just fits him. It has a mighty feel to it, superior...
These both were incredibly lovely. They brought tears of joy to me and I am going to make sure Octavia hears the one for her.I would wonder if perhaps somepony could produce orchestra versions. I would love to hear the Canterlot Harmonic Orchestra play ether of these.
So #2 has a chance as a a BGM for the fighting game? Then Octavia needs to be in it, and her specials need to be rhythmic, as well as her attacks if you need to fight the characters to unlock them.

ReplyDeleteand battle themes FTW
what's the point in wanting to be first if you are anonymous??
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteyou know he's got a point there

Epic battle theme is epic.
ReplyDeleteOther one's pretty nice, too.
lol yeah very true and besides that the octavia vid was pretty cool
ReplyDelete#2 is amazing!! perfect fit for octavia
ReplyDeleteAlso, we are getting a lot of Octavia-related content today. I wonder why that is?
ReplyDeleteOctavia's Battle Theme is excellent. I could see a musical piece like it in a Final Fantasy game or such. It's certainly a boss battle theme for some game, at any case.
ReplyDeleteLuna's is pretty nice too, I must admit.
At this point there should really be an Octavia banner. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteIt's not bad, but at no point did the first one conjure any thoughts even remotely concerning Luna.
ReplyDeleteSecond one was fun.
Already WAS one.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I'm lovin' this. If this is what Octavia Day is like, then I don't ever want it to be Trixie Day! *Shot repeatedly*
ReplyDeleteMeh.
ReplyDeleteHaving listened to the second one in full, now, and having never played FF beyond Tactics Advanced, I have to say it reminds me more of the music for Warcraft 1 and 2.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to fight Octavia. Just so I have an excuse to play that song.
ReplyDeleteOctavia's battle theme is awesome, man. So awesome. ;_;
ReplyDeleteI love the Octavia one, sounds like something from a Castlevania game.
ReplyDelete@Shellsh0cker
ReplyDeleteI think all the BG ponies come in waves, and I guess its just Octavia's turn.
Also the battle theme IS EPIC!!!
Is it going to be Octavia round up tonight?
ReplyDeleteI quite like first one but then again I'm a sucker for electronic music.
ReplyDeleteThe second one didn't really do it for me. Felt a little too tame for battle music IMO but still enjoyable.
NEITHER OF THESE ARE PONY RELATED
ReplyDeleteBut 2 was badass nonetheless. Perhaps the Fighting Is Magic team will use that?
Side note, is the name Octavia purely fan made? I don't recall it being mentioned in the last episode but it seems to "agreed upon" to be just a fan made name

And then Octavia was a secret agent. <3
ReplyDeleteOctavia's battle theme is awesome
ReplyDeleteGiven her choice of instrument wouldn't a bass clef have been a more appropriate cutie-mark? Or two of them? Just sayin'
ReplyDelete/me ducks back into her shell...
#2 sounds like the opening theme for a steampunk thriller movie set in London.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, all it needs is a mandolin.
>mfw Octavia's Battle Theme by Jeffthestrider
ReplyDeleteJeez, first the New Lunar Republic remix, and now THIS. This brony's on a roll. Keep up the good work!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIndeed, just like with the other BG ponies, Octavia's name has become universally-agreed fanon.
EPIC Battle Theme!
ReplyDeleteGood lord, man. The first one is awesome, but Octavia's Battle Theme is magnificent!
ReplyDeleteI REALLY hope Octavia's a playable character in Fighting is Magic, and that the team uses this theme. PLEASE?
Lol, battling her is like doing the Waltz, love the theme haha. Very orchestrated with a little hint of the other stuff :D
ReplyDeleteThe first one was alright. Its kinda upbeat and a fun listen. It kinda had the usual sound of many songs I hear that are coupled with Luna. But it was alright.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE (Lunar) HOT NIGHTS?
ReplyDelete*Slams Fist* Every day is Octavia Day! Especially Octavia day.

ReplyDeleteOH GAWD! The theme even loops perfectly, too!
ReplyDeleteAnyone else wanting a LoZ- or KH-style pony RPG with an Octavia boss fight? Anyone?
Oh, man. Kind of makes me hope Octavia is in that fighting game that's being made, even this seems a bit more RPG-ish.

ReplyDeleteLoved both of them, especially the first one. Good job, everything's going to my dap right away. ^^
oh WOW, Octavia's battle theme is awesome and CREEPY!
ReplyDeleteSpooky.

Also enjoyed the first song. ^^
The Octavia one reminds me of Castlevania, for some reason.
ReplyDelete@Hermit Aeon
ReplyDeleteIt IS very Castlevania-ey, ain't it?
I vote for more Octavia.
@Shellsh0cker
ReplyDeleteBecause she's awesome like that.
These both were incredibly lovely. They brought tears of joy to me and I am going to make sure Octavia hears the one for her.I would wonder if perhaps somepony could produce orchestra versions. I would love to hear the Canterlot Harmonic Orchestra play ether of these.
ReplyDeleteIs there a download link for these anywhere? They are absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOctavia's gonna fuck your shit up.
ReplyDeleteThen you'll be all like : "Hey, my shit's fucked up!"
Yeah.
Anonymous: Lok at the youtube videos on youtube. Links are there.
ReplyDeleteHot Night of Luna would seriously fit Cheerilee as a theme. 80's synth and all :D.
ReplyDeleteBoth are very goo, but the Octavia theme takes the cake and everything else.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are really nice
ReplyDeleteI like to picture Octavia as being Asian. :P
ReplyDeleteBut I still like the Luna one better though. It makes me smile ;D
Octavia Theme: Listened to it for about 3 hours straight and I can't get it out of my head.
ReplyDeleteGLORIOUS.
I paused Green Day for the battle theme. YES IT IS THAT AWESOME.
ReplyDelete@BluePikmin27
ReplyDeleteThis will be her theme and she'll have SNK boss syndrome.
Totally calling it.
So #2 has a chance as a a BGM for the fighting game? Then Octavia needs to be in it, and her specials need to be rhythmic, as well as her attacks if you need to fight the characters to unlock them.
ReplyDelete#2 reminds me so much of Disgaea.
ReplyDelete@StrangeNoise
ReplyDeleteProbably, but the base clef isn't as well known a symbol as the treble clef she bears.
