I was really surprised how well "At the Gala" goes with ska music, especially Raibow Dash's part. The only part that didn't really seem to fit was Twilight Sparkle's.
Argh... Medadeth is like my favorite band ever, and Im really bummed I didnt enjoy it at all... Id suggest using a better song than Hangar 18 (maybe Tornado of Souls. Its a higher pitched song)
Wasn't patricularly fond of the first two. I liked the backing track for #3 but I don't feel like it melds well with the vocals. I think this is the first music post that I haven't downloaded anything from.
Since the last two aren't my genre picking at them would be unfair, but the first absolutely falls flat. Ponies and Thrash just do not mix right, particularly in an audio only format. in a more visual format you can make the absurd juxtaposioning work, but this just feels shoehorned and unpleasantly dissonant. You want to metal pony, go with some more upbeat power or neoclassical metal, not thrash.
First one was really kind of awful. To quote Havokpony "Ponies and Thrash just do not mix right", at least not with the vocals cut out from the show. You need something a lot harsher for it to be decent... The death metal cover of the show theme song does it right. (It could be better but its in the right spirit) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yPKyb4_w3U
The third one is amazing, really really cool song. It's not something i'd normally listen to (black metaller), but for what it is i like it a lot. Vocals were good but could use some more enthusiasm and could have made more of an impact.
And man, these moths dont ever stop coming into my room, even though my window is closed. What does this have to do with anything?
I liked #2. Kamen Rider OOO, what are you doing to my musical tastes?
Art of the Thrash has some points where I can see what the maker intended. :55 to 1:04 is a good example. She sounds energetic but still graceful. Rarity could do some amazing opera metal, maybe even some Theatre of Tragedy-style death metal.
why pick the worst thrash band to make a pmv, they did use the best song by them though, so I guess it's okay, plus we don't have to hear dave mustaine

ReplyDeleteAn interesting mix indeed... The lyrics are so bouncy, and the music is so... thrashy. :)
#2 honestly wasn't mixed that well. But I'm such a big fan of Both Songs in it I can't help but love it.
ReplyDeleteThe first two were kind of meh, but the Pony Swag was epic!
ReplyDeleteThis is pure gold
ReplyDeleteHanger 18. Rueened. Could've picked a lesser Megadeth song like... Oh I dunno. Prince of Darkness. Turn it into Princess of Darkness. Lol.
ReplyDeleteThat third one. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteDat third track.
ReplyDeleteDat yay in the 3rd one! So epic.
ReplyDeleteThat... that second one... works WAAAAAAAY too well.

ReplyDeleteAgreed. Love the third one. The first two were pretty cool, but that mix, brony... Amazing.
ReplyDeleteI dig the third one, though.
ReplyDeleteTornado of Souls is the only Deth song better than Hanger 18.

It seems like vinyl scratch is having an easier time with the cello than octavia.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I was expecting dubstep on number three. I like it.
ReplyDeleteMegadeth was wicked. \m/
ReplyDeleteSecond one had a good ska feel
Third one I didn't like at all too much going on not a good flow.

And then I saw the third one.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a bucket I can borrow? I can't seem to hold all this win by myself.
Damn, I love that last one.

I felt a little like number 3 needed a bigger drop after "LOUDER!" a bit of an opportunity missed. But that's just me. Otherwise, nicely done.

ReplyDeleteI agree. There were a few impact points in the third that weren't utilised to their full potential, though it was still very well done overall.

ReplyDelete@pmcollectorboyHoly Wars says nope.
ReplyDeleteThe new Pony Swag Remix wasn't too bad. Though my favorite is still the first Remix.

ReplyDeleteFuck you. Megadeth is the best thrash band, nigger.
They don't call Megadeth the thinking man's metal for nothing. Can you say that about Metallica these days?
