• Hub Commercials Round 2

Neil C. (The editor that did the commercials from yesterday) has uploaded a few more from his set.  Again, they are pretty simple, but it's still neat to see them up!

    You can find them here!

    2. They forgot the background music in giggle at the ghosty again.

    3. Part of me really hopes the C in Neil C is for Cicierega.

      But another part of me knows it's probably not the case ;-;

      Yay, more uninventive advertising!

    5. I have to admit, I don't think I could handle the Cutie Mark Crusaders ad if I saw it on television.

    6. Hard to believe that they'd include the acapella of Giggle at the Ghostie twice by accident. Maybe they don't have the rights for the music?

I really dislike pronouncing his last name.

    8. They are using a song that started a war for a promo.

      HIT THE DECK

...I think this is perfectly fine. Show the viewers a bit of the show. It's better than the saccharine "Come visit the magical land of Equestria!" stuff. It's quick and professional, and I'd see this stuff pull in far more viewers then the above-mentioned generic commercial stuff.

    10. Needs far more Insane Pinkie Pie talking to inanimate objects while creepy circus music plays.

      >creepy circus music

Killing Floor Summer Sideshow event, anyone?

    12. Who is Neil C. and what is this?

      VastaKustuta
    13. This is not a bad idea.
Sadly it could've been better executed. Music feels chopped off at points. No idea why Giggle at the Ghostly has part of it missing. A bunch of stuff that could be better.

      VastaKustuta
    14. Not as good as the last bunch. Maybe because the last bunch were some of the more notable songs and the ones that still work well when shorten. Giggle at the Ghosty needs the whole set up to be enjoyed as does Cutie Mark Crusaders.

    15. i like the giggle at the ghosty without music.

    16. Hasbro ought to let the fans choose which bits to use in their promos. The stuff in the promos are not by any stretch the best moments from the show.

    17. What...did they do?

Did they really need to chop the music out of Giggle at the Ghostie? The music number just seems to have no soul without the music to accompany it.

And as an above commenter put it, the other two just aren't that great being taken out of context. Especially since the CMC performance was made to be BAD ON PURPOSE, and that the whole point behind Pinkie's song is to be intentionally corny both to set up the "agreement" joke, and to act as a sort of catalyst for the Appaloosa showdown.

I'm not a huge fan of using the musical numbers as promos, anyway. There -are- kids who aren't a big fan of musical numbers in cartoons (myself was included in that group when I was that age, and I'm still a little gunshy on them today, FiM is a very big exception), and thrusting them out onto folks who have never seen the show before might leave a bad first impression. If you're going to do so, you should at least put your -best- foot forward, and these seem to trip right out of the gate.

I know the other brilliant, original promos take a lot of work and time, but if you're going to do small stuff like this, at least take the time to make sure it will actually -work- for the format you're putting it in. This just feels clumsy.

I'm really looking forward to the other promo materials they might put out, though. I have faith in them!

    18. I liked the first set of promos a lot.

However while I like the CMC music as a whole that was probably the most intentionally bad few seconds of it, Giggle at the Ghostly needs the beginning to work, and Gotta Share is not a great first impression either.

The first set of promos Neil sent was great but these would make me not want to watch the show TBH.

      VastaKustuta
    19. To be fair if Neil was just required to do every song, he did a good job with Gotta Share and Giggle editing. I just do not think they work too well at the promo thing.
