For those of you wondering how an actual "made for bronies" convention would go, you can't really beat the first ever Bronycon! Back on June 25, an army of bronies (Over 90 in all!) met up and celebrated all things pony. It was a huge success, to say the least.
Aside from the insane amount of pizza, festivities included everything from Rock Band competitions to custom pony creation.
It's a shame that ponies are so difficult to cosplay as, but this badass right her pulled off Hoity Toity perfectly. Aside from that Goddess Level Celestia from a while back, I'm pretty sure this is up there in the top five for all time best pony costumes.
They will be holding another event in September, and again in December. That's 20% more often than most other conventions. You bronies are crazy!
Check out the gallery here!
Or another set here!
And Kelly/Purple Tinker have collaborated on a full writeup, which you can find here! It's definitely worth gazing at, especially for all of you people planning meetups of your own.
Also some videos!

ReplyDeleteSo many Bronies! My brain just imploded...
ReplyDeleteFull writeup link is taking me to the "Welcome to Google Docs" page.
ReplyDeleteHoity Toity is totally doing the DAT ASS face, awesome
ReplyDeleteOh my Celestia! That looks so fun, I wish I could have made it :( Damn me not being an adult brony with a solid job and/or living near the location of the con.
ReplyDeleteWell it's good to see you bronies had a good time and such a successful meet up, I'll try to make it to the next and hopefully it will be bigger and better than the first.
This NEEDS to happen in FL!
ReplyDeleteOT: That's a LOT of pizza.
I swear, if my epic fail is mentioned in that writeup... ;.;
ReplyDelete>custom Vinyl Scratch toy
ReplyDeleteALL OF MY WANT
Twas amazing.
ReplyDeleteI'll be at Gen-Con in Indy (that's the capital of Indiana not that place with the cows) And I will be dressed up as Big Mac at lest one day
ReplyDeleteI wanna go next year. and the food should have been grass, that would've made me lol
ReplyDeleteThe writeup is locked
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! I was there! Though I apparently missed the group photo somehow. It was a lot of fun, I don't think I can make the September one but I hope to get back in December during winter break.
ReplyDeleteI WAS THERE AND IT WAS AWESOME
ReplyDeleteYESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
ahh geeze, your right.
ReplyDeleteLet me try to track jimbo down. I think purple went to bed. They only let me in hah
It was the best night ever, and is def worth the trip to new york o matter where you live...even though i live across the river. hehe. But man the cupcakes were great, everyone was cool and i snagged some great merch including a custom dj pon-3! Hope to see some of you bronies in september.
ReplyDeleteGotta Fix That Write Up Link, Seth! ;)
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, I attended and it was so AWESOME!
I'm going back for the September one for sure!
Looks like we're another step closer to world domination.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteHey, for once it wasn't Seth's fault that the link's messed up, give the poor guy a break :P
That's so fucking awesome, I would have given up anything just to attend.
ReplyDeleteGOOD HEAVENS! FEMALES!
ReplyDeleteMy mom works in the building behind them in the group shot!
ReplyDeleteSigh sometimes I wish I lived in the states
ReplyDeleteThat towering pile of hats!
ReplyDeleteEpic amounts of lateness, Seth.
ReplyDeleteShame on you.
The biggest issue I had there was debating on if I should eat the cupcakes or if they contained other ponies. Other than that, it was great!
ReplyDeleteI've yet to hear of a brony meet to happen anywhere within 500 miles of me. :(
ReplyDeleteWhy am I not surprised that 2/3 of them are overweight.
ReplyDeleteWe need a midwest meetup. Woulda loved to have been there but a half a days drive isn't my cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteI've been to both NYC meets so far and they are DEFINITELY worth attending. Lots of fun was had by all and I will be attending once more sometime later this year
ReplyDeleteWe need a West coast one. STAT! :-(
ReplyDeleteColorado is full of red neck haters. this aint gonna happen for me any time soon.
ReplyDeleteBroNYCon was awesome! I enjoyed it so much and can't wait to go to the July meetup :D
ReplyDeleteI really want to see video of that Hoity Toity guy in action...
ReplyDeleteAlso Seth, could you copypasta into a public document?
ReplyDeleteEpicplatypus here
ReplyDeleteWhen is it going to be in december? I have 2 weeks after basic training and I want to go to New york anyway... hopefully it works out with my break...
How'd they get art of the dress on Rock Band?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteTinker's been scheduling the events well ahead of time and they all seem to be on about the last weekend of the month. I'm not sure if that'd hold true for December, what with Christmas and New Year being right around then, but we should know soon enough.
Ugh that´s too awesome, why do I live in Europe!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Colorado isn't full of anything. That's probably the bigger problem.
ReplyDeleteEr...in SouthAmerica a Brony-Mini-Con of 5 Bronys happend in Juny, if you dont believw me, can searf for the forum 20% cooler http://mlpcooler.foroactivo.mx/
ReplyDeleteand read the thread (all in spansh)
Brb, got to schedule a cross country car trip.
ReplyDeleteHm. That group is certainly a lot more diverse than I thought it'd be, I was expecting a lot more twenty-something white dudes. :P
ReplyDeletePony crosses all barriers! Racial, socio-economic, etc.!
That Hoity-Toity cosplayer pulled it off like a baus!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so awesome!
ReplyDeleteI wish there was something like that taking place near Detrot. Michigan bronies, we need to make this happen!
pretty pathetic. also define cosplaying hoity toity 'perfectly'...sheesh louise calm down
ReplyDeleteBronycon 2011!! Couldn't go to this one. I'll try to make it to the next one.
ReplyDeleteThis fandom is amazing! We've been here for like a year(G4) And we have meetups and a lot of stuff. Other fandoms didn't grow like we did.
Friendship is MAGIC!!
Excuse me, I'm from Colorado. I know at least 6 bronies from Colorado. Colorado is NOT full of hicks and racists. It's full of wonderful people who love living an outdoor life and BY THE WAY, our football team....IS THE BRONCOS!
ReplyDeleteColorado Rules :} And is very pony friendly
One other Colorado fact, Denver hosts big cons/events all the time. It's a HUGE tourist destination. Imagine hosting a ponycon in Denver or say, up in the mountains WHERE YOU CAN SEE ACTUAL PONIES! :}
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to one of those.
ReplyDeleteThis Hoity Toity bro looks like the biggest badass ever. Really, he does.
ReplyDeleteThat guy IS Hoity Toity. Celestia transformed him. He looks...so much like HT...I almost want to put on a dress and model for him. And I'm a dude.
ReplyDeleteThey had a cake decorated to look like Rainbow Dash...hm? what's that? no, ah, I'll pass on the cake thanks...O.O
ReplyDeletewhere was this at and id be down to chill with fellow bronies here in southern california. we need a meet up down here :D
ReplyDeleteOn the other side of the Atlantic... *forever alone*
ReplyDelete@ZAquanimus
ReplyDeleteHey now, I was nice! I TOTALLY didn't mention anything about anypony having Jeopony locked up and then caving in and getting TOTALLY dominated! ;)
@AliceInChains
ReplyDeleteNot his fault. I only did the writeup this morning, and that's cos someone *coughpurpletinkercough* finally got around to sending me the talkin' points.
Also, anybody still having trouble getting to the writeup try this:
ReplyDeletehttps://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1b4JP-UD6a1ZvAsoCPI1z6wAgF7AmFr8w93z54dEGy3I
That Hoity Toity cosplayer reminds me of soemthing, damned if I can remember what...
ReplyDeleteAs an attendee I can vouch that this was incredibly fun and absolutely everyone who frequents this site should attend if they get the chance. This'll sound cheesy, but it really was magical. You can't meet a cooler group of people.
ReplyDeleteAw, man! I wish I didn't live all the way on the other side of the country. xD
ReplyDeleteAs a local I'd been to the previous meet-up in May and would have attended this event as well were I not already committed to attending Anthrocon in Pittsburgh that same weekend, which had an ENORMOUS Brony presence (see last week's roundup post http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/06/nightly-roundup-17.html and the link to the youtube video - I'm the fella in there dressed as the 10th Doctor Who.)
ReplyDeleteDon't shun the furries; we're so much more alike than different.
Hoity Toity cosplay. My life is complete... I can die...
ReplyDeletePfff my effort in not making myself love Hoity Toity is now worthless... THAT COSPLAY IS JUST <333
ReplyDeleteI UNLOCKED THE WRITEUP! My bad, everypony. Go look! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b4JP-UD6a1ZvAsoCPI1z6wAgF7AmFr8w93z54dEGy3I/edit
ReplyDelete@Timey Wimey You should RSVP to our next meetup, happening July 23! Or the next full BroNYCon in September, or the one in December after that! :)
ReplyDelete@Chromodoris Well, if you can get plane tickets to NYC for our September or December con, you can have free crash space at Tinker's Lab :)
ReplyDeleteSo yeah. Start making your plans now for BroNYCon September and BroNYCon December! As per June, admission is only $25 a head and includes a meal and raffle tickets. Join http://www.meetup.com/Bronies-NYC if you are interested!
ReplyDeleteThe first few registrants get DOUBLE RAFFLE TICKETS, so prepay ASAP!
I can't go to NYC. D: We need one in Florida!! Or the southeast, at the very least...
ReplyDelete@brennaleigh You should start a Florida bronies meetup group!
ReplyDeleteAck! Sethisto, Jimbo didn't do this writeup. This time, it was Just Kelly! Please edit the story accordingly. :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely nothing happens in Wisconsin T_T
ReplyDeleteI'm just blown away by the fact that a bunch of people dressed up as ponies without entering furry territory. That's talent.
ReplyDeleteEven if you held a BronyCon in Chicago, though, I don't think I could go. I don't have the nuts to confess my bronydom outside of the internet.
Huh... So THAT'S what bronies look like. I see we're the ecclectic, diverse mix I always hoped that we were... Nice one guys. :D
ReplyDelete@Xuncu
ReplyDeleteThe face reminds me of the villian in the X-men:First class movie, Shaw.
http://application.denofgeek.com/pics/interviews/x-men.first.class/x-men.fc02.jpg
We had a little "Bronycon" in Moscow, Russia :D
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YC-p7HvdwbE
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThis totally needs to happen in Florida!!!
We need a Midwest Bronycon! We Middle Americans deserve one. After all, we have REAL ponies out here!
ReplyDeleteFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
ReplyDeleteThis was in Manhattan! I live in Northern New Jersey! ARGGH!
...sigh...
I'm not mad. I'm just very disappointed in myself for missing it.
Well, at lest they are having more. Time to prepare!
wooooohoooo :D...very nice ...extremely good :D...love it :D
ReplyDeletebtw..Hoity Toity .. nice coltsplay :D
I was at another convention at the time this took place, unfortunately. But we had probably at least that and maybe more Bronies there. We even had a MLPFiM Meet and Greet. Still, it looks like it was a lot of fun. There was also a custom made Vinyl Scratch pony just like that one someone had for sale. Unfortunately it sold pretty fast I guess. :(
ReplyDeleteAs for the best pony costumes, eh, they're nice. But we had these guys at that convention I was at at the time.

Dat Hoity Toity... <3
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS AWESOME!!!!!
ReplyDelete@Sun Ray We have more cons coming up in September, December, and every three months thereafter! Join www.meetup.com/Bronies-NYC and RSVP for an event :)
ReplyDelete@Anonymous You New Jersey bronies should go join! www.meetup.com/Bronies-NYC -- go sign up!
ReplyDeleteAwesome that these actually went up. I did want to mention though that Andrew H. put up both mine and his pictures up. The ones taken with the Alpha 200 (Hoity doing "dat flank", Roseluck/Lyra, and a few others) just went up on his album. I'm just glad to see they got posted, though; I had a lot of fun. Can't wait for the rest of the Rock Band videos.
ReplyDeleteI want to see the Luna Fashion Style doll! *____*
ReplyDeleteHere's mine, came from the same batch. http://purpletinker.deviantart.com/art/Fashion-Style-Luna-214028254
ReplyDeleteWooo!! This was so fabulous! I had a ton of fun, and even though I may never go to another one (I live across country), I am SO glad I made it to this one!! <3 I had so much fun meeting everyone and doing pony stuff, thanks for the opportunity Purple! <3
ReplyDeleteCrap. I had to leave before the group photo, didn't I? :(
ReplyDeleteWell, next time, don't leave before the group photo, silly colt :)
