    7. And I just realized that the name Micheal Bay needs no ponification to become a horse pun.

    8. I feel like this was more of a complaint about the entire series.
      The third was...all right.
      The second was miserably awful.
      The first was decent.
So the average is very below average.

      In my opinion.
I mean, you can think whatever you want. And so can the artist who drew the comic.

      Hurrah for internet opinions.

    10. OMG, their making a Transformers movie! That series was so awesome!

Besides having the same characters, this movie barely has anything to do with the series... waste of my time that I could of otherwise wasted doing something else.

OMG, the time I wasted watching that piece of shit movie paid off! Everything is worthwhile when ponies are involved...

    11. XD Omfg that was so freaking awesome! Okay to be honest anything involving Doctor Who (or Whooves as would be the case here) gets a thumbs up from me. (minus rule 34) Still though I love the line from Derpy "My uncle Michael made this move. We don't talk about him, he's not a very clever pony." Freaking priceless.

    12. Thanks so much everypony!!! I'm so happy!

    13. Yeah, that more or less sums up my reaction to that movie as well. I wouldn't even have gone except a friend invited me, for which he apologized afterwards.

Luv Doctor Who, and always have since 1979. Damn, I'm old...

    14. This...this is the best comic I have ever seen. My favorite parts:
"You should fire Michael Bay on sight."
Derpy: "We don't talk about him. He is not a clever pony."

      Well done, you. Well done.

    16. This pretty much sums up my feelings on the trilogy.

      The first one was decent.

      The second one sucked.

The third one sucked, but not quite as much as the second.

      ReplyDelete
    17. I giggled a ton. Poor Doctor though, being subjected to such a horror that he decides all of Equestria is not worth saving because of one movie. I think this means he won't like any of M. Night(mare Moon)'s movies either.

      ReplyDelete
    18. Third one was the best of the three.....it helps to think of them as Go-bots not Transformers

      ReplyDelete
    19. "I wonder who they got to play me?" ...wait what? lol I just love dialog like that. And yes Derpy, he's not a clever pony.

The main reason it's not as bad as the second one? Due to the weight and difficulty of the 3-D process, Bay couldn't do his usual style of shooting action scenes, so you can actually tell what's going on. Mind you it's not very good, the robots are messy as hell, there is too much focus on the humans who are dull and if it's even possible LESS developed than the robots.

It's still a good enough reason to condemn the planet to destruction though. That and Green Lan *hrrgh* Green Lan *hmmph* that Ryan Renolds DC movie.

    24. It's actually worth noting that the current artistic state of the Transformers movie franchise is kind of the opposite of My Little Pony. Where Friendship is magic gives each of the mane 6 a unique and deep personality, the Transformers does nothing towards this end beyond giving new transformers funny accents and one line for them to show that accent off.

The only transformers that are given more screentime are Optimus and Bumblebee. The former is still ignored in lieu of exploring Sam Witwicky's attempts to procreate with the most recent Victoria's Secret model, and the latter is little more than Sam's pathetic puppy, who keeps coming back no matter how much Sam kicks him.

If they make a fourth movie, I'm not going to go see it.

    29. Hah, that was a great comic. If it weren't for stuff like MLP:FiM surprising us and being so genuinely great, I'd pretty much be feeling like Dr. Whooves at the end there 24/7.

Shame that IMDB.com is reporting that the movie is making an obscene amount of money right now...

    35. @Orpheon/Andromeda

I would recommend Eagle Eye as a good movie starring Shea "Loofah Butter" LeBeouf. Not so much because he was in it mind you, but it was good.

    36. THE LIVE ACTION TRANSFORMERS MOVIES ARE SO BAD, I THINK THEY GAVE ME CANCER! THEY COMPLETELY RAPED MY CHILDHOOD, JUST LIKE TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED! AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HOW HORRIBLE THE ROBOT DESIGNS ARE; GIVE ME MY LIMITED ARTICULATION STARSCREAM BACK! AND MICHAEL BAY IS SUCH A TERRIBLE DIRECTOR, HE MADE MOVIES WITH COMPLETELY MIND-NUMBING PLOT, EVEN THOUGH THE CG EFFECTS WERE WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT! MAN, ONLY TRANSFORMERS FANS CAN POSSIBLY LIKE THEM; NO, EVEN TRANSFORMERS FANS HATE THEM! THAT'S HOW HORRIBLE THEY ARE! THEY RAPED MY CHILDHOOD, THE ROBOT DESIGNS ARE MONSTROUS, THE PLOT IS TERRIBLE, THEY KILLED MY FATHER, THEY RAPED MY MOTHER, AND IF YOU DISAGREE YOU DESERVE TO DIE!!!

Seriously, lighten up. They're not that bad.

      ReplyDelete
    37. Haha great. The only good thing about the movie was Leonard Nimoy. It's a shame he wasn't voicing Galvatron again. :( Though I'd hate for Bay to corrupt Galvatron.

Great though. Haha. Loved when Applejack was confused. XD And Pinkamena's technicolour vomit was distasteful, but so appropriate. XD

    42. Went to see Kung Fu Panda 2 (awesome) with my brony friend yesterday, and discovered that we both share this brilliant comic artist's opinion of the Transformers movies. A group of people asked us to say that we were "with them" because one was too young for Transformers. It failed because we were seeing two different films, of course, and my friend let them know in no uncertain terms how we would feel about sitting through their choice. XDD
Anyway, this comic is beautifully drawn/colored and a sheer delight, especially Applejack and Derpy. I LOL'ed! L=

      ReplyDelete
    43. This comic is so true. Such a bad movie. The action scene dragged, and everyone was holding the idiot ball. "Seal off the island" (or anything, for that matter) is Bay-ese for "random pointless explosions".

The giant worm was awesome, though.

      ReplyDelete
    44. "He is not a clever pony"..."trans-farmers"..."My throw-up is roommates with the popcorn"...omg, every line in this thing is genius. XDD

    47. HILARIOUS comic. Derpy's dialog in particular is adorable and funny as hell. If she ever speaks on the show, I hope she's like this: quirky and odd but not mentally challenged.

Also, major d'aaaaaaaaw points for Lyra and Bon Bon in the first panel.

No, they're not! Sure, nothing beats Animated, but those movies weren't all that bad either. At they're essence they're basically popcorn movies, which isn't really a bad thing. Besides, the visuals are good. You're saying you agree with the Raging Hater, who says anyone who disagrees with him should DIE?

You guys suck. All of you are blind nostalgia nuts. "EVERYTHING WAS BETTER WITH GEEWUN AND ITS FORMULAIC PLOTS AND CARDBOARD VILLAINS!" You're just saddlesore.

    54. @Anonymous

Popcorn movies are fine. Bad popcoern movies are not. And a popcorn movie that actually manages to make it's 1-hour long fight scene finale boring is not a good popcorn movie.

      Also, giant robot balls.

      ReplyDelete
    55. The fact that Michael Bay is related to Derpy Hooves answers a lot of questions. I guess instead of "muffins" all he can say is "explosions".

      ReplyDelete
    56. Cool but a little confusing…which of the films is Doctor Whooves actually watching? And why not have the three panels all in one comic. Also I can’t help but feel like there should be a better punch-line than just Whooves angry face.

    57. "My throwup is roommates with the popcorn."

      That line is amazing.

    62. Derpy is so full of win in this comic.

And yes, there are good popcorn movies (the first Indiana Jones film) and bad ones (the last Indiana Jones film). The main thing I expect when I go to a film is for it to tell a good story. There was no story with the TF movie - just a series of strung-together excuses to carry the film from one mindlessly violent action sequence to the next, interspersed with (as the comic's author observes) fart jokes, butt jokes, and misanthropic humor in general. I didn't throw up, but I wanted to...

      ReplyDelete
    63. Beautiful, beautiful comic. I was rolling the whole time.

One little, tiny nitpick, though: That's not Matt Smith! The Chucks, and the lack of a bowtie! It's David Tennant (who is still my favorite Doctor ever). While it would've been -great- to see the Tenth take on the Silence, we're already in S2 of the Eleventh when this would've happened.

Other than that, though, amazing. And I do get that Doctor Whooves is supposed to be David Tennant as a pony, so I'll forgive you for that. =P

    64. Okay I was going to let this out on BronyState later, but just for you guys, I've compiled 5 reasons why this movie that I saw in IMAX last night is like FIM: (SPOILER)

      1. One guy says "What the Hay?!"
      2.Hasbro's fascination with the moon
3.Megatron is wearing a brown makeshift hoodie (Rarity living in Exile)
4.Two rag-tag miniature autobots (like Snips and Snails) who didn't seem to amount to anything, actually ended up grounding the mothership housing the drones that were extinguishing the human race!
5.The woman is unscathed in the end, even while wearing a white dress, while Sam is dirty as hell! (Spike+Rarity much?)
      (HuffytheMagicDragon)

      ReplyDelete
    65. Wait, why is Pinkie barfing rainbows in the last panel? *Cupcakes flash into mind* Then again, lets not answer that...

      ReplyDelete
    66. @Shimmerstrike

You are totally right about the identity of Doctor Whoof, he is clearly based on Ten! But I tend to see Doctor Whoof in MLP as an amalgamation of all things Doctor Who, so when I put him in a picture or comic, I try and draw from all the years of Doctor Who lore.

And yes, this comic is really more of a reaction to Michael Bay's whole Transformers oeuvre. Dark of the Moon was much better than Revenge of the Fallen...but that's such a low benchmark I can't even qualify my statement as praise.

      ReplyDelete
    67. @The Dread Pirate Roberts
You wanna talk about Indiana Jones 4? Let me guess: you hate it because it's new, and your complaints are fanboy reasons like "nuking the fridge" or "aliens have no place in Indiana Jones" rather than actually focusing on the plot of the movie.

Sure, some of the humor in Michael Bay's TF Movies leave a lot to be desired, but I found that the action sequences made up for it. Besides, there's this magical wonder device that was recently invented. It's called a remote, and it lets you skip past scenes you don't like. I used it, and it made the experience worthwhile. But I guess you Geewun fans wouldn't know anything about that, would you?

      ReplyDelete
    68. Hey, anonymous dude. Re-freaking-lax. It's cool you like Bayformers and Indy 4 and X-Men Origins and whatever other terrible films you came here to champion. Just like you have a totally cool remote that allows you to bypass 80% of a movie, you have an equally great invention called a mouse that allows you to not read this amazing comic or the like-minded responses. Opinions differ, your welcome to yours and everyone here is welcome to theirs.

Calm down, love and tolerate, or if this debate is just going to make you so angry you have to insult people, just move on to a conversation that agrees with you!

I didn't mind the first or last TFormers films, but that middle one was horrible. Just bad. And I would prefer to see some Transformers action movies with some soul, like Dark Knight or the new XMen movie not the mindless explosion story of Michael Bay.

      ReplyDelete
    69. I love reading all these arguments. I loved Transformers 3 for what it was supposed to be, action and a really hot chick! It's sad that other people can't just relax and enjoy stupidity once in a while. They might find they really enjoyed it.

      ReplyDelete
    70. @SuperKing
I don't consider the movies to be terrible, just flawed. Bayformers had some good CG, but bad storytelling and humor. Indy 4 had a good plot, but didn't feel much like an Indy film. Wolverine (which, by the way, I didn't mention) had awesome action sequences, but poor faithfulness to the source material. All have good points, all have bad, and overall, I'd have to say they were merely average than terrible.

I enter these debates because I feel I'm the sole one who likes these movies. To be honest, I feel a little bit picked on for being different. Just like the Cutie Mark Crusaders feel left out by all the other kids who have their Cutie Marks, I feel kind of left out by the people who hate the movies I like, and it seems like there's a lot of them. The difference is that my opinion isn't changing anytime soon, unless I get one heck of an epiphany.

And while I hope for a Transformers movie with soul (maybe a TV Special for Prime or a DTV for Animated), I'll take what I can get. I'll agree that the middle film is not very good, I just didn't think I was devoid of any redeeming qualities.

    71. Tears of a valedictorianJuly 3, 2011 at 3:21 PM

I have the first Transformers movie as the worst thing I've seen in the cinema in like five years, but a friend of mine thinks they are the best movies of all time.

Whichever side of that fence you stand on, I think we can all agree that there's no reason for a movie about giant robots with no plot to be fifteen minutes off from the runtime of the Godfather.

      ReplyDelete
    72. Personally, I actually like the Transformers movies, but I agree that the second one was terrible, although it should get a little slack because it was made during the Writer's Strike (what appears to be a vastly overlooked fact on the internet). I just saw the third one and I was very impressed by it. It's worlds better than the one before it and they actually ironed out a lot of the flaws. It was a lot more serious and some moments were genuinely funny.

To me, this comic just seems a bit overly critical. I don't see the problem with a Transformers movie being filled with explosions as it seems to be the perfect franchise for it. And hey, the director loves explosions, so he seems to be the right guy to sell the explosions. It's a summer blockbuster, what exactly did you expect?

Overall, I don't find them to be all that bad. I think people need to be more accepting of the films, not bash them simply because Michael Bay is attached to it or because it's filled with *gasp* action and explosions!

      ReplyDelete
    73. I dunno, just because this one happened to be better doesn't somehow elevate it to a level where criticism is unwarented. I enjoyed the new movie for what it was but I'm not going to fool myself into believing fixing a few serious errors makes the whole thing better.

The authoer mentioned earlier that his comic was a response to all the bay movies and it seems pretty accurate to me. Whether it's humping robots or giant wrecking ball balls or Asian guys named Wang, there is a thread of terrible decisions and characters and storytelling throughout all the Michael Bay transformers movies.

As for the comic I think there's som over the topness but its a clever way to point out the flaws and things that bother me as well concerning the movies. I don't think they're criticizing action movies so much as Michal Bay's brand of action movie.

      ReplyDelete
    74. You should probably add a Doctor Whoof tag.

Half the jokes will go over the heads of people who don't watch Doctor Who.

      ReplyDelete
    75. @Anonymous Errr No one did.... Except you. You should lighten up and agree that other people (even non-fans) might disagree and not like the movie. Are you the supposed to Raging Hater? You seem like a raging hater against any Transformer branded product made pre-2007 almost a reverse Raksha.

Any way lighten up. Here your Brony first flaming hater second remember that.

      ReplyDelete
    76. So many series 6 references.

      ReplyDelete
    77. @Kelleth
I was quite done with the argument before you showed up.

I didn't like season 1 of G1, tolerated season 2 of G1, loved the 86 movie, liked season 3 of G1, didn't like season 4 of G1, liked Beast Wars, thought Beast Machines could've been done better, liked Robots in Disguise, thought Armada could've been done better, hated Energon, kinda liked Cybertron, liked the 07 movie, loved Animated, thought the 09 movie could've been done better, and have no opinion on Prime and the 11 movie. Compared to Beast Wars and Animated, G1 just feels bland. It doesn't really have much in terms of storytelling, and just feels like a typical 80's cartoon, like GI Joe or Thundercats, neither of which I care for. The 86 movie was such a breath of fresh air because they did more for the status quo than add new characters. True, they did some of that, but they weren't afraid to kill some of them off, especially Optimus. I do wish the deaths of some of the Autobots were less gratuitous and treated with respect, but they did a good job on representing the end of an era.

The Raging Hater is one of two arguments used to caricature intolerant fans. The other is the Hilarious Hater, which basically goes like "(Mean-spirited opinion, usually X sucks). Get it? It's funny because it's a true fact, and if you disagree you are not only wrong but deserve to be burnt at the stake." I was tempted of using it for this comic, but I felt the Raging Hater felt more appropriate. They're both used when someone is incredibly rude in his opinion. The Hater in this case is the guy who made the comic, who basically makes statements like "THIS MOVIE IS A BLACK MARK ON HUMANITY, AND MANKIND SHOULD BE DESTROYED FOR MAKING IT!". Do you honestly think statements like that are going to get me to agree with your opinion?

And don't compare me to Raksha. I have reason to believe that Raksha has some kind of insanity when it comes to Transformers.

      ReplyDelete
    78. First of all, I'm not a guy, I'm a girl. Second of all, I do not hate Michael Bay, Dark of the Moon is not a black mark on humanity (at least no more than, say, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2) and humanity should really not be destroyed for making it. Seriously!

I truly believe that if these movies had nothing to do with Transformers, if they were just called "Giant Fightin' Space Bay-Bots" or something, I would have been able to cast off my expectations and take the films as just another example of Michael Bay being Michael Bay. But these movies had none of the heart or class that I would want to see the Transformers treated with. Being a woman, I don't like the treatment of women, the jokes about minorities, the way the Autobots (especially Optimus)are depicted as merciless, violent killers, the crude, unfunny humor that isn't suitable for adults, to say nothing of the Transformer's built-in kid audience.

I was a huge fan of Michael Bay before Transformers. The Rock is still my favorite action film of all time, and has actually influenced my art to a certain extent. But the storytelling and characterization choices he made with the Transformers films have really rubbed me the wrong way. That's how I feel. I used a lot of hyperbole and exaggeration in my comic to express that. Doctor Who, as a character, gets very angry with humanity whenever we give into our baser, more primitive motivations and resort to guns and violence over, say, the magic of friendship. The dueling themes of Michael Bay and Doctor Who seemed ripe for parody, thus you have my Derp of the Moon comic. I don't appreciate the ridonkulous assertion that because I happen to dislike a like a stupid summer movie with robots, I'm some kind of misanthropic rage-aholic. Come on, everypony! Love and tolerate!

I don't fault anybody for enjoying the films, in fact, I sort of envy those who do. I wish I could turn off my brain and just enjoy them.

Sorry if this was long and rambling, but I wanted to set the record straight. I kind of doubt anyone is even reading at this point, but there it is! Thanks everypony!

      ReplyDelete
    79. I concur with the doctor this movie makes me want to abandon the human race to it's fate. The worst part by the skewed up stats that movies are based on, it is still a number one hit. Just goes to show that lower standards win over audiences.

As for myself, I'll save my money for the Capt. America movie.

    82. ironic how we bronies complain about haters hating on us but we turn around and hate on this movie. First movie was good but left me wanting more, second was just horrible with lots of errors and bad story-telling,but the third was a good way to end the trilogy. Not as good as the first but better than the second, the way I see it, I dont see all 3 movies as 1,I see them best as stand-alone films cause neither really connect to each other. We should love and tolerate Michael Bay for what he has done. He was the only one who really brought transformers back. Without his movies, shows like transformers animated and prime would never come to be. If not for the films,Hasbro would have most likely overlooked transformers altogether and let it slowly die. Not hating on anypony b/c thats your opinons, but please show a little respect

      ReplyDelete
    83. And yes I did see the first showing, where people laughed, and gasped in awe at the movie, and there was a big round of applause at the end of the movie, and even seeing the movie again 1 week later,ya know what? People still clapped at the end

      ReplyDelete
    84. I think the entire series could have been improved MASSIVELY by one thing; Instead of having "The life of Sam Whitwiki, his girlfreind , his family and his dog!, plus some giant fighting robots" It should be "Giant fighting robots and their token human" THough thats just my opinion

      ReplyDelete
    85. I was a huge Transformers fan when I was a kid and I still am. I have my own opinon for each film:

      I loved the first one
The second one was pretty bad, but it did have a few good moments, like the big fight scene in the forest.
I just saw the third film last week and I enjoyed it. Not as much as the first film, but it was still good.
